❄️AM - WINTER ROUTINE❄️
Hey friends,
With the first day of Winter (Dec 21st) quickly approaching, I wanted to talk about my morning skincare routine and what I am using right now.
We get a lot of snow, and the air can be really dry where I am from so hydration, redness and sun care are my main Winter skincare focuses.
The routine is really centred around maximum hydration and creating a protective barrier for the cold dry winds, coupled with having an appropriate amount of UV protection. Although the sun doesn’t feel as hot as in the summer, it’s reflection off the snow is still damaging to the skin. With redness and sun damage being one of my constants skin concerns I always make sure to have added protection on that front.
Also, something I think is worth noting - When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is apply sunscreen. I don’t rinse my face or anything, just put on sunscreen straight away. I have a dog that needs to go out early in the morning and want to make sure I am protected, then I usually do a workout with my partner shortly after and then after that I do my AM routine.
Tbh, I cleanse my face in the shower (I use CLARISMA - Cool Ocean Breeze Daily Cleanser). I know everyone says not too but I don’t actually take particularly hot showers plus I think it’s pretty easy to turn the temp down.. So I think it is sort of a weird blanket statement to say that it’s bad for your skin.. like sink tap water can get pretty flippin’ hot too.
Then when I get out of the shower, skin still damp, I spray EARTH HARBOR - TIDAL ROSE Crystal Hydration Tonerall over my face followed by EARTH HARBOR - Celestine Hydra-Plumping Peptide Serumall while skin is damp. After that is dry I use a Vitamin C serum to help hyperpigmentation / redness and for added sun protection! I usually use Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serumor ONE LOVE ORGANICS - Botanical C Facial Serumfollowed by BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream, not everyone needs to use an eye cream but I have really bad sun damage under my eyes from when I was a kid and I find this product really helps me.
Then moisturize with BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Omega Repair Creamand LAST but certainly not least 2 fingers of THANK YOU FARMER - Sun Project Water Sun Cream!
And that’s it! It seems a little extreme, but doing 3 of the steps in and just out of the shower makes it actually a pretty quick routine ☺️
Are you using any of these products ?! What’s a must have in your winter routine ?

THIS OR THAT 🍊
Hey everyone,
I wanted to do a quick this or that with two of my favourite Vitamin C serums! I started incorporating Vit C as a treatment step a few months ago into my AM routine. I’ve been trying to target hyperpigmentation, get rid of my dark spots and signs of sun damage.
Plus alongside my daily spf it’s nice to have a little extra UV protection. I knew for a long time that I wanted to get a Vit C serum, but the price can be a little overwhelming. And although I love these both, there are definitely some major differences and hopefully this will help you choose the better option for your skin and preferences!
I think the texture is the most noticeable difference between the two serums ONE LOVE ORGANICS - Botanical C Facial Serum is an oil based Vitamin C serum making it a suitable choice for dry and sensitive skin vs. Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum is water based gel like serum and is wonderful for sensitive and acne- prone skin.
Then the price is the next big difference - Mad Hippie retails for $47 CAD, and One Love will cost you $95. (I got the One Love serum in my September Laurel and Reed box, which was only $49.95! - and is still available on their website, such a steal to get this amazing serum.. Plus you can use MADI15 for an extra 15% off)
Both serums have stable sources of Vitamin C as well as other beneficial ingredients.
In the One Love serum you will find what they call their ‘plant powered c complex’ which is a blend of rosehip, baobab, acerola cherry and seabuckthorn to offer a full range of plant based C nutrients. They also add hops extract to encourage a radiant complexion.
The Mad Hippie formula contains Konjac root, Ferulic acid and Vitamin E to offer compounding antioxidant effects, reduce appearance of wrinkles and discolouration and form a thin protective barrier to help soften and smooth skin.
I truly love both of these serums, I’ve been gravitating towards the Mad Hippie serum lately because it is so lightweight, absorbs quickly and is very effective. That being said, with the dry winter months rolling in I will probably switch back to the One Love because I like the richness and hydration from this oil based serum.
If I could only choose one, the Mad Hippie serum is simply more affordable for me and equally as effective - but while you can get the One love for such a good price through Laurel and Reed it’s kind of nice to use the two interchangeably depending on how your skin is feeling.
Hope this help if you’ve been trying to target hyperpigmentation but don’t really know where to start when it comes to incorporating a Vitamin C treatment step!

Let’s talk...oil cleansers! | 💧👀🌿
ONE LOVE ORGANICS - Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil + Makeup Remover
I'll admit it, the first time someone told me I should be adding oil onto my face, I was skeptical. Sounds counterproductive for someone with an acne prone, oily T-zone, no? Well, two years since purchasing (and repurchasing) the One Love Organics Botanical B Enzyme Cleasing Oil, I'm here to admit I'm a believer. This all natural, incredibly smelling little baby is my favourite way to end my day.
What I love about it:
✨ It removes all of my makeup - yup, you heard me: even the waterproof mascara...and I layer that stuff on thick to the gods, honey.
✨ Using an oil before any other skincare product allows it to penetrate the surface, getting all that good stuff into your skin so it can start working it's magic.
✨ It's non-stripping and soothing as hell; this leaves you feeling clean, but not tight or dry like so many makeup removers tend to do.
✨ This brand is synthetic fragrance-free, cruelty-free, and dermatologist tested. They're one of a select few brands to become ECOCERT® certified...AKA, 95% of all ingredients must be naturally derived and no less than 50% of them must be organic. You know you're getting that good good.
I'm a huge stan for One Love Organics and what they're all about: no bullshit, clean, organic skincare. Love to see it. 🖤
Are you guys into oil cleansers? How about organic skincare? What are some of your favourite products? Leave some recs in the comments for me! 💪🏻

🍍One Love Organics Botanical B Cleansing Oil 🍍
ONE LOVE ORGANICS - Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil + Makeup Remover
After striking out with the Meow Meow Tweet Lemon Rose Cleansing Oil (rookie move on my part- the second ingredient is coconut oil 😑) I wanted to find a good cleansing oil to use for double cleansing at night. I wanted to find something that was not only packaged in glass, but also had other ingredients besides oil in it that would allow for it to wipe clean with little to no residue left on my skin. I have oily, acne prone skin so oily residue is a dealbreaker. I decided to go with One Love Organics Botanical B Enzyme Cleansing Oil- a mouthful, but I really do like this stuff. The scent is a strong natural Pineapple, which I didn’t mind but might be a turn off for some. It took off my foundation and eye makeup well, and did slightly sting my eyes if I left it on for too long, but the stinging went away after I rinsed it off. Overall I really like this I product, but I do wish it came in a larger size or a bulk refill like Meow Meow Tweet do with theirs. I like to pair this with my small sea wool sponge from Marley’s Monsters, and my skin feels soft and clean, with no residue left. BUT at $42 for 4 ounces (and $5 for shipping) this stuff isn’t cheap. Hoping I can stretch this bottle out so it’ll last me awhile. Taking into account the price of the product and cost for shipping, as well as the strong fragrance and slight eye stinging, I give it 3/5 ⭐️

detox & chill
The bliss - Pore Patrol Mask is a thick, foam like mask which promises to help remove impurities from the skin. On the blues website, they list this product as containing “French green and Kaolin micro-clays combine with willow bark to detoxify and declog pores.” I really like this mask, but I only use it in my t-zone as that is the part of my face that has enlarged pores and blackheads. I only use this product one time a week, as it contains glycolic acid and I also use the herbivore prism AHA glow facial. This mask retails for $18 on blissworld.com
The ONE LOVE ORGANICS - Love + Charcoal Masque is advertised as being able to “clarify your complexion and extract dirt and debris, while nourishing and helping to enhance skin's natural resilience.” This is in part because of the main charcoal ingredient which is a natural filter and used for detox in many areas, including dental care and drinking water. I have used this product a couple of times and I have no noticed a significant difference in my skin after using it. I actually think my skin may have reacted to it, even though I did a patch test before use. This mask retails for $49 on Neiman Marcus.

Product claims vs my thoughts - One Love
Are you a makeup lover? Do you dread having to wipe away your makeup at the end of the day? Well then you need to try this ONE LOVE ORGANICS - Botanical b enzyme Cleansing Oil and Makeup Remover! I got this sample from a giveaway prize but the full size retails for $42.00 (4 oz.). Honestly, I do not know where I have been this entire time because this stuff is amazing! Before I would use makeup wipes, micellar water, and toner to ensure my face was clean. This items that claim to be a “multi-tasking, lifting away impurities and makeup while restoring skin’s natural moisture barrier and pH balance,” according to One Love Organics online.
Now I feel like I wipe away my makeup in mere seconds! It most definitely is both a cleansing oil and makeup remover 👍🏼. It’s so non-stripping that it feels like I never had makeup on to begin with 👍🏼. And finally it leaves my skin feeling extra soft 👍🏼. Like I said this cleanser item is amazing and everything it claims works like a charm!
Just as a reminder I have oily combo skin and this item works great for all skin types. You can use this on its own or as the first step of a double cleansing routine!
Do you all use cleansing oils? If so, let me know which ones you use. 🙂
