✔️Results! Let's get rid of Hyperpigmentation! ✨
If you know me for my Acne journey, you know I managed to leave my hormonal acne at bay. For few weeks I've been focusing on my Acne scars (dark spots) or Hyperpigmentation. For my Indian/brown skin it is inevitable to take care of my Post inflammatory Hyperpigmentation as it tends to get worse with time and sun exposure. The key to start with gettind rid of hyperpigmentation is Sunscreen. Mostly an SPF 30+. It is very important to calm those Melanocytes (cells that produce Melanin) and stop/reduce inter-cell transfer of melanin once it's produced. ✨This can be done with the help of these ingredients : 1. Niacinamide - Brightens skin, reduces Inter-transfer of melanin, Calms melanocytes 2. Alpha Arbutin - Brightening agent, stops excessive melanin production 3. L-Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) - Brightens and lightens dark spots 4. Azelaic acid - Brightens, gently exfoliates and calms Melanocytes 5. AHAs and Retinol - Increase cell turnover and exfoliate skin for brightening of hyperpigmentation. These all are my current favorites and are absolutely effective. Their formulation is so good I have been able to enjoy using them. ✨AM routine : 1. PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore-Reducing Toner 2. Believe or not?! My 3-step Morning Routine in Just 3 Min!🤗🤗
I believe you are just like me who don’t like a busy morning and have no time for a full face make up or a full skincare routine. It is hard for some to save time and finish the whole skincare routine at the same time. I just figuring out that by bonding these products together for the morning routine can provide you an overall antioxidant and sunlight protection with an easy and efficient 3-step morning routine. Sometimes when the serum is already hydrating and moisturising, I don’t use a toner but the MARIO BADESCU - Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Teait’s really refreshing and prepares for the following make up if necessary. It has a really fresh smell and I like how convenient and easy to spread it all over your face other than use a cotton pad to apply toner.  Then I will follow with this COSMEDIX - Affirm Serum. This serum is super powerful and provides an amazing antioxidant protection for my face for the whole day. It has a liquid texture and has a very light sesame smell. It is not a cheap product though but I think that I would buy this again because it surprisingly solved my acne scar and redness problem with its anti-inflammation effect. A little product goes a long way so I think it actually worth it compared to many other so-called antioxidant serums. The last step of my 3-step routine isISDIN - Fusion Water Sunscreen SPF 50+ Oil-Free . Sunscreen is necessary for people with all skin types to fight photoaging. I have combination/oily skin and this sunscreen is non-comedogenic, it doesn’t cause pimples and provides a really comfortable and breathable dry finish. It also dries really fast and doesn’t leave any white marks on my face. One thing I don’t like is its weird fragrance to be honest but I can bear with that with for its affordable price. Time Is never enough and especially valuable in the morning so I wish this could help you to figure out what you may like to try in the morning to save time :P

Serums for different concerns! There's always one for you!👉
The serum is definitely the most powerful step in a skincare routine and works as a multi-task-taking warrior to fight different skin problems. For different purposes, I also got my own choice on them.   For Antioxidant COSMEDIX - Affirm Serum This antioxidant serum is super lightweight and has a milky colour and watery texture. Also, the sesame scent is pretty light and smells comfy. It contains a lot of potent ingredients to fight pollution and ageing and repair damage caused by sun and dirt in the surroundings. I feel my face got smoother and firmer after using this but it is a little pricy though. Cannot decide whether to buy it later but I definitely will keep an eye on it.      For Brightening  NEOSTRATA - Illuminating Serum This serum is thick and has a transparent colour but very easy to apply. It contains not only Vitamin C but also some exclusive yet effective ingredients to brighten skin and even skin tone. To be honest I cannot feel its brightening effect but I do experience its function to even skin tone and give back its original, natural glow. Still, it is a bit pricy like other Neostrata products and I don’t think I will buy it again because there are so many other products worthy to try.   For Hydration CLARINS - Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum I like Clarins so much because they have created some many amazing products and this is one of them. This serum has a very cute light blue colour and has a really smooth silky texture on skin. I also love its light floral smell and I can say this is the best scent from all serums I have used. There are two layers in the bottle and before applying, just need to mix them together. I have oily skin and this serum gives enough hydration to my face but doesn’t make my face over oily at all and doesn’t make my acne worse. It is also a good serum to apply before cream to provide a moisturising base for makeup. I think it is worth the money and becoming my holy grail.

If you love skincare tools and devices...
Skincare tools and devices is something I've seen many people rave about and love! I dipped my toes in that trend too... I loved these skincare tools and devices so much, mostly because if felt they're like a luxury and who doesn't like to have a fancy, shiny tool they see people using and raving about? But is skincare tools and devices helpful for your skin concerns? Do they add any benefits in your routine? Most of these tools are just an additional step and luxury in your skincare regimen. Some devices and tools are helpful for some specific skin issues like Silicone Cleansing devices for Acne and congested pores or deep cleaning. But if you ask any dermologist or skincare expert they will tell you how you can cleanse your skin just with your hands and you don't need any tools for that. I like using PMD cleanser for some reasons, first is I really like to deep cleanse my Acne prone skin and second is it's silicone, vibrates and heats up giving me a nice spa feel when using. But it's totally an extra step in my routine. I wouldn't swear by these silicone cleansers changing my skin dramatically. I know what made it change are the skincare that I put on my skin and let it work for hours. Talking about Gua Sha and Jade rollers, it is fairly a recent trend in western beauty community where everyone felt the need to have a jade roller or Gua Sha in their home. I can press on telling they're great if you love massaging your face in the morning or every week or you want something to grip onto while working your hands in massage steps. But they're necessarily not any benefitial in skin improvement. Gua Sha particularly is an ancient tool in Chinese wellness and therapy where they sculpt your face and release tension in your limphatic drainage with those gracefully carved heavy stones. But for that technique and to really get the results you need to learn authentic Gua Sha techniques and if you use it religiously it will sculpt your face and tighten skin. But are they a necessity? Ofcourse not. Devices with Red light or Blue light emission are another thing where you need to have an expertise or atleast expensive devices with specific wavelength of Infra red light. I have this tool with Red light and they claim to reduce fine lines and wrinkles but I haven't experienced any change at home. If I really want to have red light therapy I would prefer going to a dermatologist and get done in settings. Similarly, Dermarollers are of more risk than benefit when done at home. I wouldn't say they don't work when done at home because I have done it, and yes they definitely help. But if you do it frequently and without really knowing how much your scars need, it will eventually disrupt your skin barrier. Leading skin being dry, sensitive and flakey and in worse cases contact dermititis. If you really want to learn how to dermaroll your face at home you can watch Dr. Davin Lim's (Board Certified Dermologist) 'How to perform skin needling' video on YouTube. https://youtu.be/o3r-DkgcJ3w Conclusively, I don't hate skincare tools and devices but I don't find them necessary too. If you like using any of these I'll list them down below! I have enjoyed using them in past but I don't really reach for them these days. Skincare tools is a thing where you definitely need to know what your skin really needs and what it can handle. If you find them giving you therapeutic experiences, go for it ❤️pmd - Clean Smart Facial Cleansing Device OSEA - Gua Sha Sculptor revive LIGHT THERAPY - Glō Portable Anti-Aging Light Therapy Device COSMEDIX - Facial Massage Roller LOLYSENTA - Derma Roller LUXE + WILLOW - Refresh - Opal Facial Massage Roller

MUST HAVE TO FADE ACNE SCARS/PIGMENTATION
FACT# Did you know that retinol was originally used to treat acne? The cosmedix retinol refine has 4% of microencapsulated retinol aka vitamin A and amino acids that helps with reducing the appearance of enlarged pores and blemishes. One of the key ingredients is sodium hyaluronate which is a non-drying formula which helps moisturise the skin, this is a good balance as we all know retinal can be harsh and drying. Ever since I started incorporating this into my PM routine it definitely helped with reducing the look of my acne scars and faded my dark spots. I sometimes use it as a spot treatment and it works wonders! This also helped controlled my oils and sebum in my T zone areas and helped contained my breakouts. I started using this once a week for a month to build my tolerance as it is a potent active ingredient and slowly builded it to every secound day to everyday. I have also tired the cosmedix refine plus which has twice the potency as the refine with 8%. I only use this every three days given the high percentage of the retinol. I do prefer using the refine as the refine plus can be way irritating and harsh if you overuse it. Highly recommend to use a good moisturiser or a sleeping mask when using this. Also love how this product is GLUTEN FREE, cruelty free and fragrance free. So it’s suitable for sensitive skin and all skin types. Retinol is a MUST as it is an anti-ageing serum that helps firm skin and smooth out any fine lines. It builds collagen and stimulates cell turnover so it’s best to start yuong! Price point is roughly around $100 however it is worth your money. The bottle lasted me about 6 months. All you need is a small pea size in your night time routine but please remember this is not for everyday use. I have also linked my favourite website to purchase these products. TK Skincare always have sales and when you spend a over a certain amount you get freebies worth over $100+.

Today’s post consists of a double review and product match-making. ❤️ I will try my best to keep this short and simple, that being said let’s start with the first product, aka Simply Brilliant Serum. The serum was designed to fight against the signs of discolouration with 10 brightening ingredients, while preventing future sunlight-induced pigmentation. Main stars are: Witch Hazel, Niacinamide, Ascorbic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, etc), few antioxidants, eos and humectants. I started using this beginning of Dec last year to date, 1-2 pumps (am/pm or both), probably missed 4 days max since Dec and I nearly finished the bottle. The texture is thin, spreads & absorbs nicely, has a brownish colour and odour I don’t fancy (plant, borderline medicinal). It does tingle a bit, but no irritation. After using it for an entire month (1st month I did not missed a day), I decided to introduce the elemis Resurfacing pads, as the Brilliant Serum is very mild and was quite slow at reducing my awful pigmentation left by the cysts induced by Epiduo (typical purge). In combination with the Resurfacing Pads (one product in am, the other in the pm) I saw much better results.💪🏻 Both products are mild, therefore worked wonderfully together. In addition, the Resurfacing Pads contain a Patented Tri Enzyme Technology (papain, from papaya fruit, protease & micro-encapsulated subtilisin - all great resurfacers), Lactic Acid & Pro-Biotic Complex. I begun to see really good results when using both products in the same day, different routines. I didn’t experience any dryness or irritation, PIH started fading at a much faster pace, leaving my skin very smooth in the process.

These two products from cosmed
These two products from cosmedix, Clear + Clarity, have seriously helped to get my skin under control. ▪️Clear Deep Cleansing Mask - this mask uses powerhouse ingredients kaolin clay, salicylic acid & sulfur to help balance oil production and remove impurities, while soothing botanicals hydrate your skin. Using this mask a few times a week seemed to help with my breakouts, but I’ve also been using it as a spot treatment overnight, which seems to help shrink breakouts. ▪️Clarity Skin-Clarifying Serum - contains retinol & salicylic acid to fight breakouts, as well as aloe, willow herb & tea tree oil to soothe irritated skin. This serum absorbs into the skin in minutes and seemed to seriously help to clear my skin. ▪️A few weeks ago, my skin saw the worst breakouts it’s seen in years, but after adding this duo into my routine, I’m breakout free. I also noticed that the typical after effects that I suffer from after a breakout (those annoying red spots that take FOREVER to go away) weren’t an issue since using these two.

Perfect pair!
Perfect pair!
I love pairing these two together for my morning and night routine. After cleansing and toning and before moisturizing, I mix a couple shakes of Cosmedix Pure C powder with The Ordinary “Buffet” serum. Powder is a more stable form of vitamin C. It has a longer shelf life and tends to be more affective on the skin. You can mix it with your favorite serum or moisturizer. These two products have made a big difference with my skin’s hyperpigmentation and texture!

✨Product Claims vs My Thoughts✨
✨Product Claims vs My Thoughts✨
I have typically oily skin that occasionally breaks out or gets dry patches. First, let’s start with the ONE positive about this product. ✅ brightens skin and helps even out skin tone due to the 100% L-Ascorbic Acid that it’s formulated with. It’s a pure form of Vitamin C that helps to neutralize free radicals and improves skin texture and and tone when used with other products (due to the crystallized formula), which I’ve noticed happens with most Vitamin C products since I see results! I noticed that my acne scars have faded some while using this. I can’t say that’s from this product alone though since I mixed it into other products that were already helping to fade my acne scars. I’m not sure if the crystallized formula really helps the skin better absorb this; I don’t enjoy the extra effort of having to mix it into one of my serums and moisturizers, it takes too long. This also claims that the pure form of Vitamin C reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I haven’t noticed any firmness or hydration from this product, but of which it claims. Plus the packaging is TERRIBLE! You have to press that circle thing in (shown in second pic), but it’s super hard to do and when I finally pushed it in after trying multiple objects, half of the product spilled out everywhere!!! I was beyond mad. It’s also hard to spin the top around to close and open it, plus hard to dump out the correct amount without it spilling out everywhere. So glad I got this in my FabFitFun box and didn’t pay full price for this or I would have been really mad. I’m not impressed by this product at all, literally no point to it at all and the packaging is too hard to work with. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, even my worst enemy 😂. This is not worth any sort of money nor the time it takes to try and make this work. COSMEDIX - Pure Mixing Crystals Vitamin C Powder Price: $54 for 0.2 oz / 6 g Rating: 1/5

Today I want to take you through an amroutine and explain the steps a little. First, I rinse with water (in this case), pay dry, then I massage a generous amount of this beautiful exfoliant mousse by lovephilosophy for a couple of mins (pineapple enzymes + witch hazel); On clean clean, exfoliated skin I apply the P-effect essence by forlled a high-tech skincareproduct that contains a low molecular HA (5 nanometers) which allows a deeper penetration into the skin unlike other forms of HA. It also helps boosting the effect of products used after (still testing this), very intrigued. That being said, I follow with murad Revitalixir Recovery Serum on top to help de-puff & revitalise the skin (on the eye area too). As it contains caffeine, peptides, niacinamide and lots of goodies, it definitely brights and smoothes the skin. I follow with nyk1secrets lash serum (currently testing) I have high expectations given zarrine_beautyjunkie & themakeupmaestro results 😄 I absolutely love using this figsandrouge Morning Reviver Eye Cream in the am as it’s very cooling & hydrating, contains HA, Aloe Vera, Rosewater, Eyebright and Calendula. Next step is forlled P-effect Basing Emulsion - wow! The texture is fabulous, extremely soft and light, absorbs completely into the skin, adds hydration, my skin feels amazing every time I use this. 💖 SPF with skinsider Lagom Cellus Sun Gel SPF 50- a watery-like sunscreen that absorbs into the skin seamlessly, no white cast no matter how many layers applied, it does not make me oily at all. Great for under makeup. Last, but not least the Cosmedix Enhance Lip-Plumping Mask skincity an interesting lip product that combines peptides, botanical polymer (moisture barrier), cocoa & shea butter to fight against flakiness. Has a metal application (so cooling in summer), almost feels like a lip massage. Very light on lips, gives a nice gloss.

Awards to my favorite serums!
Another can swap some products, but serum should never be forgotten. I really like all different kinds of serum with all sorts of uses on the face; they are just so adorable when changing our skin silently. Best Hydrating Serum--NeoStrata Bionic Face Serum Unlike traditional hydrating serums, this serum has a simple formula with no hyaluronic acid but Lactobiomic acid and Vitamin A, C & E to provide antioxidant protection. It is a transparent gel-like serum and is really thick, but not hard to smooth. I towel dry my face after cleansing and apply this on when my face is not completely dry since it is really thick. Although it has a strange light herbal smell and feels like glue, just after a minute it forms a smooth layer on face and makes everything easier to apply. My face becomes more hydrating and supple with it in just a few days. Best Antioxidant Serum--Cosmedix Affirm Antioxidant Firming Serum This antioxidant serum is a must-have, daily serum enriched with vitamin E, age-defying proteins and resveratrol to provide potent and powerful antioxidant protection. It has a light sesame smell, watery texture, and milk-like color; one pump is just enough. I like to use it in the day to fight free radicals and pollutants though it is suitable for both day and night. After using for about a month, my face looks much brighter and acne scars fade more quickly as well. Best Repairing Serum--The Ordinary“Buffet” +Copper Peptides 1% This copper peptide serum is one of the best sellers of The Ordinary. Its blue color is from copper, and it is a powerhouse serum infused with a bunch of amino acids, peptides, hyaluronic acid and patent ingredients not just to enhance skin hydration and health but also to fight wrinkle and line problems. It literally has no smell but feels good on the skin with its thick, gel-like texture. I have tried this for a week both day and night, and to be honest, with no current wrinkle worries, I cannot tell whether it helps with that. But I can say that it is really good at calming and repairing when my face is in trouble of redness and scarring from acne. This a really an ingredients factory providing a full range of nutrition.

PSA - I may have discovered the unicorn of eye products! The cosmedix Opti Crystal Liquid Crystal Eye Serum is incredible! I realize that this reads like an infomercial, but after just two weeks of daily use, I’m seriously impressed with this product. I was initially intrigued by this serum’s iridescent color, which sparkles like my favorite holographic highlighter. Although beautiful, it seemed gimmicky, but I was SO wrong. I’ve seen a reduction in the appearance of my dark circles/fine lines and wake up looking rested. The gel texture feels substantial and a bit tacky, so I use this exclusively at night. You only need the tiniest amount to get results. According to dermstore, the 0.25 oz tube will give you about 90 uses. At $95, it is pricey, but worth every penny. Plus, I’m more than willing to spend a little more on a product that really works. I’m excited to see the the results after another few weeks. Ingredients include Spin Trap and Alpha-Lipoic Acid (antioxidants), Copper Complex to encourage firmer skin, liquid crystals for hydration (which also naturally give Opti Crystal it’s iridescent purple/blueish color) and Neem to stimulate collagen. It also contains coconut, jojoba, turmeric and is gluten-free.
