Top 2020 Skincare: Facial Oil
I saw this happening on Insta and thought it would be fun to participate on Cherie! All month I’ll be posting my top 2020 skincare essentials in accordance to the schedule on the 2nd pic, so follow me if you want to see all my faves of this year! Up next- Facial oil :) 🍯DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil I have a whole post dedicated to oils and why they’re so great, but long story short, they remove makeup, balance combo skin, keep pores clear, boost your moisturizer (or even replace it with some hydration layered underneath), can be mixed with makeup, and be used in your hair. The options are limitless. I recommend doing some research on carrier oils to find what’s best suited to your skin, but jojoba will work on anyone. I also suggest sticking to pure oils, or simple blends, without a lot of filler ingredients or fragrances to maximize the multi-use aspect. I prefer transferring mine to a dropper bottle to minimize leakage, so that’s why it’s not in it’s original packaging.
Sensitive - Combo Face Routine
I’ve posted about many of these products individually, but I thought I’d share how I combine them in my relatively simple routine. For reference, my skin is very finnicky (eczema-prone, acne-prone, and very reactive). 🌤SKINCEUTICALS - Hydrating B5 Gel Hydrating Gel With Hyaluronic Acid The only reason for the docked star, is the prohibitive price. My mom got this for me as a gift when my skin was freaking out. It’s a fantastic hydrating serum that is thick and soothing! I apply after a thorough rinse to damp skin. When I run out, I’ll replace this either with Maelove’s hydrating serum (as the ingredients are similar) or I may try out their popular Glow Maker serum! 🌤DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil Pat on 3 drops of jojoba oil then use my roller around my eyes and brow bone. 🌤KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 Smooth an even layer for extra moisture and sun protection. The initial shine will dry down and give a nice non-greasy glow. +++ 🌙ACURE - Seriously Soothing Cleansing Cream Massage this in for 30 sec - 1 min, focusing on the T zone and where I’m wearing makeup 🌙CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream (repairing) OR MAELOVE - Night Renewer (exfoliating) with DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil I dot one of the creams around my face, add a few drops of oil and blend together. You can also “lock in” your moisturizer by patting the oil on top, but since these creams are a bit heavier, I like to mix them so everything has a chance to absorb. 🌤🌙Vaseline - Lip Therapy, Advanced Healing Skin Protectant I use this all the time- only wish is it came in the cocoa butter formula! I may try out one of the tins.. but seriously- no chapped lips in the 2 years I’ve been using this! I’d love to hear questions/comments/feedback :)
Recommendations for large pores?
Current skincare routine/products Twice per day, I use: 1. DESERT ESSENCE - Thoroughly Clean Face Wash Original 2. Sulwhasoo - First Care Activating Serum 3. Sulwhasoo - Essential Balancing Water 4. Sulwhasoo - Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Eye Cream 5. Sulwhasoo - Bloomstay Vitalizing Cream I currently double mask with the AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clayand a hydrating face mask about once a week but I've also recently started using The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution(once a week) and The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution(once a day). Would love any suggestions!
Desert essence tea tree soap
DESERT ESSENCE - Cleansing Bar Tea Tree Therapy WHAT IS IT ❓ contains tea tree which is good for dark spots and acne 🌿 sudsy formula without sulfates so if you can’t handle sulfates than this is a good soap contains aloe Vera (except it’s at the bottom of the list) albeit the list is short though no overly stripping, has a slightly moisturizing effect which is hard to find in the more “natural” soaps ✨ helps with body acne, has somewhat helped with my strawberry arms ( Keratosis Pilaris ) just make sure to moisturize afterwards (can use one specifically for this skin condition). I’ve been dealing with keratosis pilaris since middle school and nothing seems to relieve it 😭it used to be really bump but now it’s just little red dots and occasionally acne CONS I would prefer a better scent - can smell like just unscented soap 🧼which isn’t my favorite (kinda a slight clay scent?) maybe something like stronger tea tree or peppermint even would be good I always have to moisturize after using soap in general but I’m sure being forced to use lotion 🧴 will help with my strawberry arms 🍓 WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN? yes I probably would - but maybe I’d try a different scent unless I find something better.
Six month update
I feel like I'm still figuring out what works for me, even though it's been six months since my last update. Products that work for 12 hour days in front of a computer at home don't necessarily work for 12 hour days on-site in a mask. Current routine: AM Products 1. DESERT ESSENCE - Gentle Nourishing Organic Cleanser 2. bliss - Bright Idea Serum Vitamin C + Tri-Peptide Collagen Protecting & Brightening Serum 3. Follain - Follain Eye Cream: Firm + Brighten 4. bliss - Bright Idea Vitamin C + Tri-Peptide Collagen Protecting & Brightening Moisturizer 5. I'll be honest, I barely leave my house so I've been lazy about the sunscreen 😬 PM Products 1. DESERT ESSENCE - Gentle Nourishing Organic Cleanser 2. pixi - Glow Tonic 3. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 4. LANCÔME - Visionnaire Eye Cream Advanced Multi-Correcting Eye Balm 5. Spot treat with dermalogica - Age Bright Spot Faderas needed or bliss - Bright Idea Vitamin C + Tri-Peptide Collagen Protecting & Brightening Moisturizer The vitamin C products have really helped with my acne and dark spots! I also treated myself to patchology - FlashPatch Rejuvenating Eye Gels yesterday and cold eye masks are so soothing. Definitely recommend putting your eye masks in the fridge. Has anyone tried innisfree? I've been eyeing their products...
