I don’t know what to do
The first photo to the left is my left side of my face on November 3rd of 2020, the second photo the right is the left side of my face today Janurary 10th 2021 November 2nd is the first day I started tretinoin 0.025% Around December 15th I believe I decided to switch to differin instead because I had lost my Health insurance so I couldn’t afford it. Since then my skin care routine has comepletely changed Im not sure why my skin just keeps getting worse. My cysts and spots will go down and as soon as they are looking good I get a bunch of cystic spots all over, every single one of my closed comedones are turning into big red cysts and pimples that take forever to go away, none of my acne goes away within a few days. I feel like it’s just spreading and I’m getting more and more closed comedones as well. This is my routine *i started with tretinoin Nov 2nd 2020, I used it every 3 nights for a few weeks and then went on to use it every other night up until around December 15th 2020 I started using Differin i started using that every 3 nights for the first week and some, then I used it every other night for a few weeks and now I’ve been using it every single night consistently the past few weeks* AM •DIFFERIN - Daily Deep Cleanser BPO 5% OR VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser •LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30 PM •VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser •e.l.f. - Holy Hydration! Face Cream - Fragrance Free •DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel My routine as you can see is very simple, my face is just getting worse and I don’t know if it’s because I’m purging still, or something is making me breakout?! I’m feeling hopeless 😩 my PIH and scaring is so bad already and it’s just getting worse :,( please help I’ll take any advice I could get. I’m seeing a derm on the 18th of this month I finally saved some money for. I’m hoping they can help me :(

How I fixed my skin 😇
So I know my skin still isn’t perfect (is anyone’s skin perfect tho??) but it looks a lot better!!!! I went to many dermatologists who never told me I had fungal acne 😒 they always recommended creams and stuff that just dried out my skin more but didn’t help! So one day I googled “it feels like there are rocks in my skin” and I figured out that i had fungal acne 😝 I didn’t even know there were different types of acne!! Right away I started using Nizoral - Anti Dandruff Shampoo which helped a lot but didn’t solve the problem Then recently I learnt about a website you can use to test ingredients to see if they are fungal acne safe! Website: folliculitisscout.com I tested all my skin care and gave my mom any products that had triggers! I SWITCHED UP MY ENTIRE SKIN CARE ROUTINE and it was worth it 🙌🏼 I used that website ^ to help me find the right products for my skin which I posted in the photos! I’ve also reviewed them all in individual posts! 🥳 I hope this helps somebody 🥰 I’ve had bad skin since I was like 12 years old and now I’m 22 and just learnt how to fix it! Also my last post was about a homemade mask I made with just honey and oat flour and my skin has been feeling amazing because of it so I also recommend trying that 💖

the best moisturizers for this dry winter season
The winter time has arrived and Christmas is just around the corner. The air is colder and drier… and no help to our skin. Here are a few of the best moisturizers- for night and day- to ensure all-day hydration… all found over-the-counter or at a drugstore! Before we begin our list, here are some benefits as to WHY you should moisturize morning and night, no matter your skin type. Firstly, your skin will become less oily. Dehydrated skin leads to overproduction of oil. If your skin is hydrated, it won’t feel the need to produce more ‘moisture’. Another benefit is plumper and brighter skin, which, of course, contributes to the overall youthful, glowy skin that everyone desires. Dry skin can also lead to itchiness, so moisture is key to prevent irritation. Hydration is also key for a smoother makeup application. The key ingredient in all moisturizers is hyaluronic acid- if you don’t see it listed, don’t bother buying it. Personally I also prefer fragrance-free. Make sure to always use a moisturizer with SPF in the morning, or at least use sunscreen over your moisturizer. CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion This is my all time favorite night cream. I have been using it for years and swear by it. You really can’t go wrong with CeraVe and this cream is everything it claims to be- ultra-lightweight, insanely hydrating, and oil-free. Perfect for acne-prone individuals like myself. Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel MoisturizerI feel like this gel-cream product has gotten a lot of hype recently, and rightfully so! Glycerin and HA are the perfect combo and your skin will drink it up. It’s also non-comedogenic and alcohol-free. VANICREAM - Moisturizing Skin CreamThis cream is recommended for extremely dry and sensitive skin. You’ll also find ceramides in this product, which are found in the phospholipid bilayer cell membrane. Meaning, if you find ceramides listed amongst the ingredients, it will help reinforce the skin’s barrier (ahem, cell membranes). LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30For acne-prone skin, generally oil-free is the way to go. Also known as non-comedogenic, oil-free moisturizers won’t clog your pores. La Roche-Posay has many great products for acne-prone skin, and I use quite a few myself. Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 I wanted to throw in a moisturizer with SPF (one I’m currently using, actually). This moisturizer is oil-free, made with soy extract, and paraben-free. It has SPF 30 and has little tiny sparkles that make your skin glow after application. It also works great under makeup. I hope this list helps, as these are some of my favorites. My top brands for moisturizers are CeraVe, La Roche-Posay, and Cetaphil. Serums are also a great option (REVOLUTION - 2% Hyaluronic Acid Serum). Don’t forget to moisturize those lips too (I use Vaseline - 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly, Original every night)! And finally, remember to stay healthy and hydrated during this holiday season. --------------------------------------------- Thank you for giving my post a read! Iam excited to share my thoughts on topics I am passionate about. :) LG, Louisa

First day of school!! My last semester 🎉🎉
I never thought I would be comfortable going to class without makeup, but I’m so glad I don’t feel the need to wake up early and put it on anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I still very much love makeup but it’s a chore getting it off properly! I felt the need to share that it is officially my first day of class in my very last semester of college!! 🎉🎉 (I say like I’m not planning on going back because I hate my degree) We’re gonna be rolling into Marketing Strategy with second day hair, brow gel, and some mascara and that’s it! Sadly, I actually have to attend an in-person lecture, but it’s the only one. I also thought that I might as well share the new routine AM: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Lipikar Wash Ap+ Gentle Foaming Moisturizing Wash I gave this 4 stars because while it says fragrance free it has a strong citrus scent and burns the eyes, but it is definitely moisturizing and doesn’t strip the skin peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner I accidentally got this too close to my under eye and it dried it out GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum pretty nice, pretty standard VANICREAM - Lite Lotion DERMA•E - Scar Cream Sun Protectant SPF 35 PM: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Lipikar Wash Ap+ Gentle Foaming Moisturizing Wash *a little pea size amount of tretinoin* GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum VANICREAM - Lite Lotion CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream I apply both moisturizers at night because my skin tends to dry out over night due to me keeping a fan going at all times My skin is a getter drier as the days go by, as expected, because my Accutane dosage has been bumped up and just due to the colder temperatures

To inspire , educate & bring hope
My name is Ainsley. I had cystic acne and severe acne all over my face for over a year. I wanna say people brought me down because of it. Acne can be caused by a lot of components , the worst part is people treat it like a monster when it’s normal & human. I can say to any acne sufferer that you are strong and you are more than your skin and It will teach you a lot about people & yourself. You’re not alone & im sorry people are uneducated & cruel but it’s not you. Don’t cover it up with makeup in the long run it’ll make it worse , embrace it and you can get through anything you are strong powerful & unique, if only they understood they wouldn’t even say the things they do. As long as you know that’s all that matters. Anyone can talk to me if they need to or want to know more about my experience , routine I will post more about it :) I just wanted to put this out there first.

SKIN PROGRESS *ignore the ugly lol*
so this is my most recent curology update photo. i think my skin is doing really well! i still 100% recommend curology. like my face has never looked better. first off, my provider actually updated my formula from 2% azelaic acid to 8%. i definitely felt this, the formula has more of a burning sensation now, which i feel like means it’s working idk. I’ve been using the Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque like 2-3 times a week and it is AMAZING. i actually saw progress the SECOND time I used it. it got rid of most of the sebaceous filaments (blackhead looking things) on my nose and chin!!! this product is a must! i LOVE my new VANICREAM - Free & Clear Liquid Cleanser it literally is so soft and soapy. you can tell it’s for sensitive skin. i feel like there’s absolutely no bad ingredients in it. it’s probably THE best cleanser I’ve ever used fr. anyways my skin is clearing up nicely besides a few pimples here and there. ive been drinking more water as well which is helping. will keep y’all posted!

COSDNA.COM
ok this is basically just a ~shout out~ to cosDNA.com AND to my curology provider. if you go on curology’s website, they talk about this a lot, but basically cosDNA.com is a website where you can enter in the product name of almost A N Y cosmetic product (makeup, skincare, even body wash) and it pulls up a list for you. you select the right one (aka the product you are specifically searching for) and it tells you if theres any harmful ingredients in the product you searched. honestly, it’s crazy because you could be wondering “why isn’t this product working for me?!” when it claims it removes blackheads or gets rid of redness and acne scarring or WHATEVER it claims it does. and then you go search it on the website and you see that it has a 7 for some ingredient in the acne or irritant column. anyways, it’s really easy to use, super self-explanatory! personally, i would use this website to research or AT LEAST check a new product before buying. or you can check the products you’re currently using and if they’re bad, you can use it to research new products! i’m also including pictures of my research based on a message my curology provider sent. i told her that i felt like i wasn’t seeing much progress, but she told me she ~did~ see progress but she also gave me a bunch of recommendations. (i’ve checked all of these on cosDNA fyi) the first are gentle cleansers that won’t clog pores, cause acne, cause redness/irritation, etc. the second is products to help with sebaceous filaments (which are v often confused with blackheads). she specifically recommended the Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque, Oily and Acne Prone Skin(the rest are just ones i found). and then the last page is different sulfur soaps to help with overall acne. i tagged the products that i ordered in the pics! i’ll let y’all know if i like them or not after i receive them and use them! products i ordered: VANICREAM - Free & Clear Liquid Cleanser Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque, Oily and Acne Prone Skin THE GRANDPA SOAP CO. - Face & Body Bar Soap Thylox Acne Treatment FORMULA 10.0.6 - Thirst No More Moisturizer

Tretinoin week 1
So far I’ve now applied my tretinoin cream 0.025% 3 times I started November 2nd. I have done it basically every 2 days so I applied Monday the 2nd, then Thursday the 5th, then again on Sunday the 8th. I’m planning on keeping up with this routine for the next week, then i will switch to every other night and so on, so far I haven’t noticed many side effects. I still use the same products VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser VANICREAM - Moisturizing Skin Cream sun bum - Face Lotion SPF 50 I apply the mighty patches occasionally on really bad pimples on nights im not using tretinoin. I honestly don’t really like the vanicream moisturizer, I don’t like how thick it is it seems difficult to spread it across my face without feeling like I have to rub it in or force it to glide. It also makes my face look pretty oily. The only think I actually like it about it is that it hasn’t caused any irritation to my skin which was expected. If anyone has any recommendations for a good moisturizer to use with tretinoin preferably fragrance free I would love your suggestions! I also wanted to possibly starting using the VANICREAM - Z-Bar Medicated Cleansing Bar for my body (I get mild acne on my shoulders and sometimes on my chest or bottom 🤦🏻‍♀️) I also heard good things about it for your face to, does anyone recommend? I do like the sun bum - Face Lotion SPF 50 buttttttt it’s just not my favorite, the texture is okay but i feel like it leaves my face kind of red. I really would like to venture into a better one recommendations for a sunscreen would be much appreciated as well! 🙏 preferred to be fragrance free as well I’m still super scared for the purging stage, I’m hoping it turns around for me, the inflammation in my acne has gone down a bit but I’ve notice new breakouts on my chin and around my mouth also one on forehead but I have a feeling it’s due to my period that started this week as well as the copious amounts of candy I’ve been shoveling into my mouth since Halloween. 🤡 whoops. Whelp here’s to a better and healthier week!

🧪𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐀𝐜𝐧𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬🧪⁣ ⁣ 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐧 - patience is what you need if you want this ingredient to do wonders for your skin. great for acne and anti-aging - surely will be my bestfriend for a long time. although I think it doesn’t do much for my pigmentations, this has improved the texture of my skin tremendously. ⁣ ~ 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨-𝐀, 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚, 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐚 𝟎.𝟓% 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐭 ⁣ ⁣ 𝐙𝐢𝐧𝐜 - the underrated one. I’ve always loved zinc for my scalp. I use it for my hairline, it’s an awesome ingredient for seborrheic dermatitis (self diagnosed😅) When I learned about malassezia folliculitis (fungal acne) and I was positive I had it, I tried Zinc for my face and it totally got rid of the pustules/whiteheads. I use it in the morning while in the shower, lather and leave it for 5-10mins on the face then rinse off. Give it a week of two to do its magic. ⁣ ~ 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐙 𝐁𝐚𝐫, 𝐓𝐎 𝐍𝐢𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐞+𝐙𝐢𝐧𝐜⁣ ⁣ 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐮𝐫 - I don’t see this a lot in cosmeceutical products but it’s one amazing ingredient. Just found my lost ointment not long ago. Sulfur is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. It’s great on absorbing excess oil too. Leave it on affected area and rinse off after 10mins. I usually use it once, but if the acne is stubborn I would use it again the next day. Sulfur speeds up the process of healing the skin. ⁣ ❗️sulfur can burn the skin and you can end up with dark marks, never leave it on for more than 10mins. ⁣ ~ 𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐜 𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐝𝐞, 𝐒𝐀) ⁣ ⁣ 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴: ⁣ 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐢𝐝 - excellent pore-clearing/exfoliant especially for acne prone skin⁣ 𝐍𝐢𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐞 - reduces inflammation ⁣ ⁣ 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢: ⁣ tretinoin 0.018% ⁣ 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐲𝐜𝐢𝐧 -antibiotic, reduces bacteria and swelling (not for long term use) ⁣ 𝐀𝐳𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐢𝐝 - anti-inflammatory , also great for rosacea sufferers

Eczema 🙄😩
So the vanicream ointment was recommended by a classmate because her son had eczema from head to toe like he looked like a different person like it was so bad. My eczema takes places in different areas so I have to make sure I’m moisturized. Basically there are two ointment that I had to get from the dermatologist which is called betamethasone dipropionate cream and the other is called mupirocin ointment. So what you will do is mix those ingredients together and the texture is amazing very smooth goes into skin smooth. You would apply it to the affected areas 4x a day. I know this sound like a lot but when I tell tou this really helped me like witching a week my skin cleared up. I was so amazed because the dermatologist prescribe those and I was using them separately and they was not working for me. None of the creams or ointment worked for me but that combo did. I hope you give it a try if you have dry skin believe me you will tel a difference. You can use other lotions but I would make sure whatever you use be unscented. If tou decide to try let me know how it goes because eczema has been a journey. The skin itself is a journey. Now the bag balm is something I bought until I order my vanicream ointment because you can get that off Amazon for $20. The balm has a stinky smell so I don’t like that about it but it did moisturized my skin. It was $10 dollar but it comes in a small container. So for right now I’ll give it 3.5 stars I accidentally hit 5 stars. I just bought it so I really can’t say much.
