2017 to 2020 acne scaring healed with skincare
I wanted to share my journey because skincare can take time. Especially if you’ve had years of acne or scarring. It took a long time for me to start to figure out my skin. Many dermatologist visits. My skin is still a major work in progress, but I’m consistent. A few of my favorite staples along the way have been double cleansing with a balm and the. Vanicream gentle cleanserVANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser as my water based cleanser. I use Cosrx Snail Mucine EssenceCOSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence day and night. My favorite toner is Benton BHA toner Benton - Aloe BHA Skin Toner, for All Skin Types I’m working on finding the right moisturizer again after my favorite was discontinued. I also love Dr. Jart+ - Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30 to treat the redness under my makeup.

The Ultimate Anti-Pollution Routine
Air pollution isn’t just bad for your lungs but also for your skin. Because air pollution particles are so small, they can get stuck in our pores and cause all sorts of problems, like acne, skin sensitivity, dark spots, dehydrated skin, dull/uneven skin, and even premature wrinkles! Here is how I incorporate anti-pollution skincare into my routine: Use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Every. Single. Day. You’ve heard it many times before, but SPF really is one of the most important skincare products you can use. It delivers sun protection and fights against pollution-generated free radicals, which can damage our skin’s DNA and accelerate the aging process! My favorite high-SPF sunscreens are theSupergoop! - Superscreen Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 40 PA+++ and theelta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 , both of which feel hydrating but not heavy on the skin. Add antioxidants to your routine. Antioxidants are another way to reduce the damage caused by free radicals and combat visible signs of aging. Popular antioxidant ingredients include vitamin C, retinol (vitamin A), niacinamide, and vitamin E. If you’re worried about irritating your skin, you can start with a less concentrated vitamin C serum, like the dear, klairs - Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop , which you can use in the morning (as long as you follow it with SPF). If you prefer to use vitamin C at night, try thePAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster , which has a higher concentration of vitamin C to protect your skin. For sensitive skin, I would recommend niacinamide, a widely tolerated antioxidant, like the Cos De BAHA - Niacinamide 10% Serum or The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% If you have dry skin, try rosehip seed oil: It has vitamin C, A, and E and locks in moisture. My favorite is The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil Make sure you’re effectively cleansing your skin. Of course, the best way to stop pollution from affecting your skin is to make sure you remove it from your face every day. Try double cleansing (using a cleansing oil first and then a water-based cleanser after) to gently but thoroughly cleanse your skin of any dirt and pollution that have built up on your skin throughout the day. If you’re new to double cleansing, I recommend trying a cleansing balm, like the FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm . It’s less messy than a liquid oil, and it’s really satisfying to see how the balm turns into an oil to remove makeup, sunscreen, dirt, and who knows what else from your face. Then follow up with a gentle water-based cleanser, like the Cerave Foaming Facial CleanserVANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser Do you use anti-pollution skincare products? What do you want to try next?

I Spent $130 On Skincare: 🏷 New Beauty Buys
A few weeks ago I posted about my one-on-one consultation with an expert from Avène. James spent over 30 minutes with me creating the perfect regimen for my skin. However, when I went to buy it and saw the $$ my jaw dropped. Over the past few weeks I just coming back to my shopping cart and finally just decided to go for it last week. Here is what I bought : Avène - Tolérance Extrême Cleansing Lotion$32 this will be the second cleanser in my double cleanse system. First I will use the oil based Avène - XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil which I already own. Avène - Thermal Spring Water Spray $18.50. I have used this in the past so I can speak to it’s worth. It’s healing mist that has soothing and anti-irritating properties. It’s the core of Avène as a company and has been healing skin for over two centuries Avène - Tolérance Extrême Cream$38 this will be my new everyday lotion. Potentially replacing my current go-to VANICREAM - Moisturizing Skin Cream Avène - Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream $42. This was the first Avene product ever introduced to be through my dermatologist and it’s amazing. It’s used to establish and maintain a healthy skin barrier. I will be using this after work as a no-rinse mask. I work 12hr shifts as a nurse and wearing the mask all day really irritates my skin. Also, I will use as needed for eczema &/or rosacea flare ups instead of the Tolerance Extreme Cream. Total cost: $130.50

Products I’ve been Loving
I tried *three* new products recently and I wanted to share them with you all! I have dry, sensitive, and acne prone skin and these didn’t cause any issues for me. Second slide is all products listed in the order below (L-R). VANICREAM - Moisturizing Skin Cream is a sensitive skin’s dream. There is no fragrance/perfume, parabens - nothing irritating. It can be used all over the body including the face, but just use it on my body. It seals in moisture and has a Vaseline/petroleum texture to it? My only complaint is that it is still hot/humid where I live so I feel it takes a longer to fully absorb in my skin versus if it was cooler out. CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser I love this cleanser. It truly is hydrating and doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or tight after use. Has a creamy texture, and doesn’t have any harsh smells. It has three ceramides and hyaluronic acid in it - this is my holy grail cleanser. CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion Another winner for me. Also packed with three essential ceramides and hyaluronic acid and my skin has never felt happier after cleansing and moisturizing. Fall and winter is approaching so this’ll be a true test to see if it helps with my dry skin.

SKIN PROGRESS *ignore the ugly lol*
so this is my most recent curology update photo. i think my skin is doing really well! i still 100% recommend curology. like my face has never looked better. first off, my provider actually updated my formula from 2% azelaic acid to 8%. i definitely felt this, the formula has more of a burning sensation now, which i feel like means it’s working idk. I’ve been using the Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque like 2-3 times a week and it is AMAZING. i actually saw progress the SECOND time I used it. it got rid of most of the sebaceous filaments (blackhead looking things) on my nose and chin!!! this product is a must! i LOVE my new VANICREAM - Free & Clear Liquid Cleanser it literally is so soft and soapy. you can tell it’s for sensitive skin. i feel like there’s absolutely no bad ingredients in it. it’s probably THE best cleanser I’ve ever used fr. anyways my skin is clearing up nicely besides a few pimples here and there. ive been drinking more water as well which is helping. will keep y’all posted!

COSDNA.COM
ok this is basically just a ~shout out~ to cosDNA.com AND to my curology provider. if you go on curology’s website, they talk about this a lot, but basically cosDNA.com is a website where you can enter in the product name of almost A N Y cosmetic product (makeup, skincare, even body wash) and it pulls up a list for you. you select the right one (aka the product you are specifically searching for) and it tells you if theres any harmful ingredients in the product you searched. honestly, it’s crazy because you could be wondering “why isn’t this product working for me?!” when it claims it removes blackheads or gets rid of redness and acne scarring or WHATEVER it claims it does. and then you go search it on the website and you see that it has a 7 for some ingredient in the acne or irritant column. anyways, it’s really easy to use, super self-explanatory! personally, i would use this website to research or AT LEAST check a new product before buying. or you can check the products you’re currently using and if they’re bad, you can use it to research new products! i’m also including pictures of my research based on a message my curology provider sent. i told her that i felt like i wasn’t seeing much progress, but she told me she ~did~ see progress but she also gave me a bunch of recommendations. (i’ve checked all of these on cosDNA fyi) the first are gentle cleansers that won’t clog pores, cause acne, cause redness/irritation, etc. the second is products to help with sebaceous filaments (which are v often confused with blackheads). she specifically recommended the Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque, Oily and Acne Prone Skin(the rest are just ones i found). and then the last page is different sulfur soaps to help with overall acne. i tagged the products that i ordered in the pics! i’ll let y’all know if i like them or not after i receive them and use them! products i ordered: VANICREAM - Free & Clear Liquid Cleanser Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque, Oily and Acne Prone Skin THE GRANDPA SOAP CO. - Face & Body Bar Soap Thylox Acne Treatment FORMULA 10.0.6 - Thirst No More Moisturizer

🧪𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐀𝐜𝐧𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬🧪⁣ ⁣ 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐧 - patience is what you need if you want this ingredient to do wonders for your skin. great for acne and anti-aging - surely will be my bestfriend for a long time. although I think it doesn’t do much for my pigmentations, this has improved the texture of my skin tremendously. ⁣ ~ 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨-𝐀, 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚, 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐚 𝟎.𝟓% 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐭 ⁣ ⁣ 𝐙𝐢𝐧𝐜 - the underrated one. I’ve always loved zinc for my scalp. I use it for my hairline, it’s an awesome ingredient for seborrheic dermatitis (self diagnosed😅) When I learned about malassezia folliculitis (fungal acne) and I was positive I had it, I tried Zinc for my face and it totally got rid of the pustules/whiteheads. I use it in the morning while in the shower, lather and leave it for 5-10mins on the face then rinse off. Give it a week of two to do its magic. ⁣ ~ 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐙 𝐁𝐚𝐫, 𝐓𝐎 𝐍𝐢𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐞+𝐙𝐢𝐧𝐜⁣ ⁣ 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐮𝐫 - I don’t see this a lot in cosmeceutical products but it’s one amazing ingredient. Just found my lost ointment not long ago. Sulfur is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. It’s great on absorbing excess oil too. Leave it on affected area and rinse off after 10mins. I usually use it once, but if the acne is stubborn I would use it again the next day. Sulfur speeds up the process of healing the skin. ⁣ ❗️sulfur can burn the skin and you can end up with dark marks, never leave it on for more than 10mins. ⁣ ~ 𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐜 𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐝𝐞, 𝐒𝐀) ⁣ ⁣ 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴: ⁣ 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐢𝐝 - excellent pore-clearing/exfoliant especially for acne prone skin⁣ 𝐍𝐢𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐞 - reduces inflammation ⁣ ⁣ 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢: ⁣ tretinoin 0.018% ⁣ 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐲𝐜𝐢𝐧 -antibiotic, reduces bacteria and swelling (not for long term use) ⁣ 𝐀𝐳𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐢𝐝 - anti-inflammatory , also great for rosacea sufferers

Skincare Routine, Help?
These are the products I switch back and forth with! Renewing SA Cleanser - definitely one of my favorites! leaves my face feeling nice and clean but also soft. definitely helps my acne Foaming Facial Cleanser - I switched from this to the SA Cleanser just because it was a little too foamy for my sensitive skin! I usually followed up with a serum or moisturizer after if I felt dry. Renewing Retinol Serum - A top pick!! leaves my face feeling like it’s moisturized without being caked or sticky and definitely helps lift my acne scars (which are continuous since I can’t keep my hands off) The Ordinary AHA BHA masque - I doubt I have to explain! worth the money because of how well it works, if I pick a lot I do have to wait to use it till my face is agreeing with me, otherwise it burns a bit instead of tingling which shouldn’t be experienced when using. Alleyoop Spot Me - A good all in one spot treatment! good for whiteheads and underground bumps, as well as the ordinary stings on scabs or freshly picked wounds, as most would expect. Ambi Fade Cream - I was definitely cautious of this brand as it was at the Dollar General, but honestly i’m quite pleased. It does have a skin bleaching ingredient but that is to help fade the scars and also gives an even skin tone pretty fast. it has a moisturizer/sunscreen with it! I use the oily skin one. Equate Hydrocortisone - yes yes I know, eeek. I did research and dabbing some of this on can act as a very gentle home cortisone shot, it definitely relieves the agitation on my face after picking and helps a bit with scarring. Let me know any helpful tips or thoughts please lovelies! <3

i love this face wash, it’s so underrated! if you have sensitive skin, dry skin, or use a prescription retinol this is a great option! the first ingredient is water & the second is glycerin so it’s super gentle but still leaves you feeling so clean :) there’s also a short list of ingredients (free of all the irritating stuff it says on the bottle) it really helped my dryness/redness (i use a prescription retinol 3x/week) it’s also only $10.99 at CVS. stop paying for expensive packaging 🤯VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser
