4 weeks on Tretinoin and Aczone Update
My dermatologist put me on this routine .... AM: Neutrogena - Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask it dries out some of my acne bumps which helps them go away a little faster CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 it leaves my face mosturized but leaves a white cast. However it has niacinamide and hyaluronic acid in it that helps acne prone skin elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 also leaves a white haze even in clear . I have to apply directly to my face if I put on fingers first seems like it's more of a white cast PM: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser I like it's very gentle but feels like lotion CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion love love love it keeps skin oily enough and is lightweight I also use a prescribed tretonoin in the PM and prescribed Aczone in the morning . I have transitioned to doing it everyday at first it was every other day . Posting here to manage results
Does hyped means good?
“Instagram Faves” I am sure I am not the only one who sometimes end up buying few products because of the hype about them on IG even tho we may not have bought them otherwise. Guilty? I know. @purito Centella sunscreen ☘️ SPF 50+ PA++++ ☘️ Contains Centella - Helps in calming the irritated skin ☘️ Good for all skin types ☘️ No Fragrance ☘️ No white Cast ☘️ Moisturizing- may be too thick for oily skin types if used over moisturizers. Can be used in place of moisturizer as well Price - $20CAD for 60ml My Experience:- > Amazing product at great price value > Moisturizing - Great for winters > Can be too thick sometimes if you are using many layers of other products underneath > Do not prefer this for hot summer days - make me sweat a lot ?? Anyone? Would I repurchase? No. I prefer my elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 sunscreen over this. I like this too but the reason it make me sweat a lot is annoying and I don’t like that. @drunkelephant C-Firma Vitamin C serum 🍊Contains L-ascorbic acid (purest form of Vit C) 🍊Helps brightening and fading dark spots 🍊 Helps fading post acne marks 🍊 Contains Antioxidants such as Ferulic acid 🍊 Fragrance free and essential oils free Price :- $115CAD for 30ml My Experience:- > I saw results after using it consistently for 2 months > Helped in fading my post acne scars > it does oxidize quickly, needs to be refrigerated > One bottle lasted me long time over 4 months > It does have tacky feeling to it, but I used it over my hyaluronic acid serum that helped to lessen the tackiness. Would I repurchase? It is an expensive product but I do see the results after using it consistently. I would consider repurchasing in future. (On sale🙃)

How I Shrunk and Tightened my Pores ✅
Hey Cherie Sisters 👯♀️ Happy Friday! My skin is normal to dry and I suffer from large pores, sun spots, dullness and acne scars from my teenage years. My skin care routine included a cleanser, a toner and a moisturizer. It wasn’t until recently that I stepped it up with the serums, essences and exfoliates. I have been watching Dr. Dray on YouTube. She is a dermatologist and skin care enthusiast and she mentioned the importance of Niacinamade which is a vitamin B3. My biggest concern is my large pores and this claims to promote a brighter skin and minimize your pores. While doing research on Niacinamide, I came across Hyram’s video regarding minimizing pores. He swears by the 2% BHA exfoliant by Paula’s Choice. This has over 3000+ reviews on their website and has numerous positive reviews on YouTube. After I did a careful research, I found that 10% niacinamde booster by Paula’s Choice Skincare might be the best choice. I bought the BHA exfoliant as well. Ole Henriksen’s Glow 2OH’s Toner was my go-to, but it has a strong scent to it. PC BHA is fragrance free and feels much lighter on the skin. I have only used this product for 2 weeks so I can’t do a depth review, but so far I like it. This also helps shrink my break outs faster which is a plus PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I use the 10% niacinamide during the day time and night time. I expected the consistency to be oily - similar to DE’s Marula Oil, but this feels straight up like water. It feels good and cool on my skin. I’ve only used this for 2 weeks but so far I noticed my face is a lot brighter and glowy. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster I used to get Botox for preventative wrinkles. I get injected by a plastic surgeon and he recommended I wear sunscreen on the daily. I used to not wear sunscreen b/c I didn’t think I needed it. I am on the tanner side and believed the myth that only fair skinned people needed them. I was proven wrong by my injector and he recommended I use ELTA MD’s sunscreen. I love this sunscreen because it also moisturizes. It has a creamy consistency similar to a moisturizer. I hate that sticky feeling that most sunscreens give so this is perfect. This also contains Hyaluronic Acid which is a plus! It’s also cheaper than most high end sunscreens on the market. elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 I know that I can’t make my pores smaller unless I get it physically treated at the Dermatologist’s office, but Paula’s Choice products have made my skin less dull and brighter, has faded my acne scars and seem to made my pores shrink. Swipe right to a see a before and after What is your favorite skin care product that’s been recommended to you? Francesca 💋 #CheriePartner
Quick lil skin update
Phew my skin has calmed down so much since the last time I posted 10 days ago. I cannot even explain how bad purging was for me. I realized I had so much gunk clogged in my pores it was insane! My skin is finally calming down and getting smoother. Not completely, still have hyperpigmentation and some small comedones but I feel like I’m finally over the worst part🤞🏽😅 My current skin care routine definitely feels less harsh than what I was using in the beginning and is as follows: AM Routine: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser Gentle on my skin in the morning, not stripping or drying but kinda pricey I feel like you could find a similar, cheaper option SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face OilJust started using this for the past week so I can’t tell if it’s doing anything yet but it’s fast absorbing AND it’s THD Ascorbate (as opposed to Ascorbic Acid) meaning it’s more stable, can be mixed with niacinamide and other higher pH ingredients AND has a longer shelf-life The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HAAlso just started using this so not sure if it’s doing anything CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin A+, love to death elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 Another ride or die🤞🏽 PM Routine: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil I’ve learned that I love cleansing OILS as opposed to balms but there are cheaper options out there ☺️ CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin Started using this again at night and so glad I did! It really feels like it’s cleaning and getting into my pores 🧼 (key: after washing my face for a minute I let the wash sit for another minute or 2 to let the SA really sink in) SKINCEUTICALS - Blemish + Age Defense MY HOLY GRAIL. Has really transformed my skin in the past 2 weeks, definitely recommend if you’ve got the budget cause this bad boy sits at $92 PURITO - Centella Green Level Calming Toner I apply this thick calming toner 15 minutes after letting my skinceuticals absorb in my skin and it’s so calming love it ACURE - Radically Rejuvenating Eye Cream Love this thick eye cream especially when I put it in my skin care fridge, not sure if it does more than moisturize though THE inkey LIST - Ceramide Night Treatment Nice consistency, not too heavy or light, but not sure if it does anything yet The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane 2 drops at night to seal everything in, has my skin waking up glowy and non irritated ✨

Unpopular opinion: Elta MD Tinted Sunscreen = no
Several dermatologists, as well as many skincare influencers I love, have all raved about elta md SKINCARE - UV Physical Broad-Spectrum SPF 41 . My mom also uses this sunscreen every day and loves it. However, after trying this product multiple times, I have sadly concluded that it is not for me. 🙁 Scent: this product is scentless and does not have synthetic fragrance. Texture: the texture is thick and gloopy, it reminds me of BB Cream, but thicker. Application: I would apply this every morning after water washing my face, applying moisturizer, and letting it dry. Results: I gave this product two stars because: 1) I liked that it was formulated with sensitive/acne prone skin in mind. I didn’t experience any irritation from this product. 2) It also has Niacinamide, which can help fight free radicals and with textural/hyperpigmentation issues. However, my biggest problem with this product is the texture. It pills SO BADLY. If I used it over a lighter moisturizer like Cerave Moisturizing Lotion, the pilling was more manageable. But if I used it over anything thicker, it pilled like crazy. In the winter, I need a thicker moisturizer like Cerave Moisturizing Cream, and this sunscreen pills horribly—to the point where I am picking little balls off my face all day 🙃 I’ve tried waiting several minutes after moisturizing and have tried other thick moisturizers like FAB Ultra Repair Cream and La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume, and still have the same issue. My other problem is the tint. I actually like the way the tint blurred my pores and dark spots similar to how a BB Cream would. I am East Asian and it didn’t leave a white cast on me. But I disliked how easily the tint transfers. If I wore a white shirt and applied this sunscreen to my neck, the collar would be all stained by the end of the day. It also transfers quite a bit to the inside of my mask, as you can see from the photo. In summary, I appreciate that this product was formulated with sensitive/acne prone skin and POC skin tones in mind, but the textural issues made it a flop for me!

AM Routine ☀️
I love reading about everyone's routines, so here is my AM Routine! I use a mixture of products from my Esthetician (Dermaki Skincare, can be found at www.dermaki.com) and drug/beauty store products. I am always looking to add things or find new products, I am currently looking for a great moisturizer! If you have any suggestions for those please share 🖤 AM Routine ☀️ #DERMAKI Skincare - Acne Cleanser[products]#[FiveStars] is a Sulfate, Paraben, Fragrance and Harsh Chemical Free cleanser that features Zinc Oxide,Green tea,Hops Flower targets stressed skin, wrinkles, & blemishes, & Tamanu Oil. This cleanser is low foaming, but really makes my face feel clean without over drying! FARMACY - Deep Sweep 2% BHA Pore Cleaning Toner an alcohol free toner that gently exfoliates, cleans pores, & controls oil. I have been using this toner for 2 weeks now, the first week only in the PM but now I use it in the ☀️&🌚. I love the way it makes my skin feel and it doesn't burn or tingle. I had some scabby spots from blemishes and it gently lifted the scabs, that was amazing! I also love that the bottle is glass! #DERMAKI Skincare - Acne Mist[products]#[ThreeStars] is a spray containing Copaiba, Buchu, Tamanu & Oil of Oregano to prevent and heal breakouts. I do enjoy this spray, especially for bacne! it worked wonders before my wedding day! I feel thought that I could use a product a little stronger for my hormonal acne. This is good for "everyday maintenance" ! #Rodan+Fields - Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex[products]#[FiveStars] an illuminating gel that helps reduce the look of dark circles & under eye puffiness. I truly love this eye cream! I am a former R+F consultant and I can honestly say that they have some great products. However, I would love to find an eye cream that works just as well but is a little nicer to my wallet 😜 belif - The True Cream Aqua Bomb Wow! This cream is legit. You can FEEL the hydration upon application! It's lightweight but definitely helps keep up skins hydration levels...Even in 27° weather! I'm in love. Also the packaging is recyclable! ♻️ elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Tinted Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 Probably the best standalone sunscreen I have ever used. I made the switch from a moisturizer/SPF combo because the eltaMD had a high SPF than the combo. I'm glad I did! This sunscreen is great for acne prone skin because it contains Niacinamide. It's very lightweight and the light tint evens out skin tone. It also comes in a clear version. Let me know your thoughts? Any advice on a Moisturizer, Acne treatment for hormonal acne, or a brightening eye cream would be greatly appreciated! 🖤🌛 Riss
Acne/ Sensitive skin and Sunscreen Tips
I wanted to share a few tips about sunscreen that made a major difference in my skin. This is meant for sensitive and acne prone skin. I find I breakout less if I use a regular moisturizer without SPF first then layer my SPF after. I prefer a tinted sunscreen that doubles as a primer. My top two are CōTZ - Face Natural Skin Tone SPF 40 or elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Tinted Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 If you want just a regular sunscreen ensure you use a mineral sunscreen. Stay away from the ones with ate in the name. you can check this site to find out if your sunscreen is fungal acne friendly here: https://www.skincarisma.org/collections/jackofart-folliculitis-safe-products-recommended-by-f-c

Finally, I Found The RIGHT Moisturizers For My Skin😏
I have combination-oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin and after several years of research and experimenting, I finally found some moisturizers and facial creams suitable for my skin. I look for skincare products that are antioxidant, control acne breakouts, repair the skin barrier, improve skin immunity, correct skin tone, and remove acne marks. 1) TOPIX - Replenix Restorative Nighttime Bio-Therapy Main features: It offers antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and calming effects, and helps in skin restoration and stabilization. Main ingredients: Green tea polyphenols are beneficial soothing and anti-inflammatory agents, while 3% niacinamide helps to improve the skin barrier. This is a good enough reason for people with combination-oily, acne-prone skin to choose this product. My irregular daily routine and diet triggers acne breakouts easily and I can never refrain from popping my acne, so I really can't do without anti-inflammatory and restoration skincare. It also contains resveratol and caffeine which are both great at correcting skin tone. It has a smooth texture and it leaves your skin with a matte finish. Attention: Use it after your toner and serum are fully absorbed by gently patting it onto the skin to prevent it from balling up. 2) elta md SKINCARE - AM Therapy Facial Moisturizer Main features: It is moisturizing, offers shine control, corrects skin tone, and reduces acne marks. It's really suitable for combination-oily and sensitive skin. Its main ingredient, nicotinamide, helps in reducing acne scars and correcting skin tone while white willow bark extract leaves the skin smooth and soft. Many say that this moisturizer has a skin lightening effect, but I think that's an exaggeration. It also says that it enhances skin color on the bottle, but I personally think that it only evens skin tone. It has an ice cream texture which spreads and absorbs easily. It's also affordable and feels amazing on the skin. 3) Aesop - B Triple C Facial Balancing Gel Main features: It lightens acne marks, brightens skin complexion, and calms red and inflamed acne. I use it mainly to reduce acne marks and it shows amazing results, visibly reducing my acne marks the next day. It also soothes new acne and boosts skin radiance. It has a gel-like texture, so it doesn't spread easily. I usually use it two to three times a week after first applying a toner and then a serum.
* the images above were taken with flash i used to be really self conscious about my skin, but over time i’ve learned to deal with it. overall my skin has improved since my teens (unfortunately any pictures of my skin during my teens are either deleted, nonexistent, or severely edited) but sometimes i feel like getting the 100% clear skin that i want is impossible. i decided to share these images because 1. i haven’t posted in quite awhile (school, sorry!) 2. i experienced a painful under the skin pimple for the first time around my nose yesterday (which frustrates me because i know it’s due to the excess sebum my skin has been producing lately and idk why it’s producing so much 🙃 maybe the humidity?) 3. i feel more comfortable in this environment since i know that there are others facing the same frustrations as i am so i wanted to remind everyone that you’re not alone ✨ during quarantine i’ve been using the bare minimum (along with my prescription meds) because i felt that my skin was overwhelmed: By Wishtrend - Acid-Due 2 Mild Gel Cleanseralternating with: PanOxyl - Acne Creamy Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 4% Daily Control COSRX - Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion in short, i feel like this routine is almost too simplistic to target all my skin concerns. at this point, my skin is ready to be slowly introduced to new products. i’m currently drafting a new skin care routine for myself that targets hyperpigmentation and oil balance. i haven’t made any final decisions but i might be purchasing these products to use in conjunction with my prescribed spironolactone and tretinoin cream: acne.org - Acne.org Cleanser- i just needed a basic cleanser with nothing special about it so that all the work can be done by the products i layer after facetheory - PoreBright Serum N10- to target excess sebum production, acne, and hyperpigmentation elta md SKINCARE - AM Therapy Facial Moisturizer- i’ve heard a lot of good things about this brand and by the looks of it this moisturizer will be suitable for AM and PM use. the formulation also looks simple to me, which is a bonus because i’m aiming for a routine that causes minimal irritation so i can be consistent + some bipoc owned skincare brands! i’m always open to opinions and suggestions. has your skin fluctuated a lot during quarantine as well?

Hi! After over a year of my skin thriving, it started to struggle recently (I haven’t left the house in a while and probably haven’t been drinking enough water). I thought it might be because of my moisture barrier and after doing some research I got CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion to help repair it. I have super sensitive skin and a lot of products burn or cause me to break out but I heard CeraVe was great for sensitive skin. I’ve been using this product for a few days now and it burns my skin and causes redness and irritation every time I put it on. And I’ve gotten some little bumps on my face since starting it. Does anybody know why? It also doesn’t feel moisturizing even though my skin isn’t super dry to begin with. I want to learn more about my sensitive skin but I cannot seem to find a pattern in products that work and don’t. My main skin concerns are sensitivity, redness, and large pores. I’m hoping you guys can help and recommend products. Thanks in advance! Btw the third picture is from before I started this product (no face makeup on). Products that have worked: Aveeno - Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser Eucerin - Redness Relief, Dermatological Skincare, Night Creme (I’ve been using this for years but it started burning slightly the last couple week so I decided to try something else) FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum LA ROCHE-POSAY - Serozinc Face Mist Simple - Kind to Skin Micellar Cleasing Water (and every other micellar water I’ve tried, I use this to cleanse in the mornings instead of washing my face) Products that surprisingly didn’t work: Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser (this product burned my skin and dried me out more than the clear complexions one, causing my skin to flake for the first time ever) GARNIER - SkinActive The Gentle Sulfate-Free Cleanser (burned my skin but less than other products have) The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (broke out my skin really badly - I tried to wait it out to see if it was just purging but it didn’t get better. It didn’t burn though) elta md SKINCARE - UV Shield Full-Body Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 45 (works on my body but I saw reviews that said it works for sensitive faces too... but it made me break out on my face) belif - The True Cream Aqua Bomb (burned my skin) Simple - Kind to Skin Moisturizing Facial Wash (burned my skin a bit but didn’t cause breakout or excessive dryness)
SPF ROUNDUP ☀️
Happy Fourth of July weekend everyone🇺🇸! It’s no secret that I am obsessed with sunscreen and heading into the long weekend, I’m highlighting all my favorites for sun protection: FACE 🎆 elta md SKINCARE - UV Shield Full-Body Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 45 I start every day with this year round. It’s targeted at normal to oily skin, and has a lightweight finish. Even on top of my face oils, this doesn’t sit too heavily on my face even during the summer 🎆 Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 My summer obsession, this reef-safe, face oil/spf stick keeps you glowing, hydrated, and protected all day long 🎆 Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock Broad Spectrum SPF 70 another great stick for on-the go reapplication, this one has a more matte finish and a classic fresh neutrogena spf smell 🎆 Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 30 my daily spf before I started using elta md. It’s better for normal to dry skin and I actually prefer it to elta md for winter because it focuses on moisturizing ingredients alongside spf 🎆 sun bum - Sunscreen Lip Balm SPF 30 I love lip balms with sunscreen! This one tastes/smells like coconut and has aloe for hydration. The biggest downside is that it melts down like coconut oil so if you apply more than a super thin layer you’ll feel like you’re eating this. 🎆 BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 PA +++ another lightweight, reef safe sunscreen that leaves no white-cast. I have several sample size bottles of this that I keep everywhere but probably wouldn’t buy the full size as I find it a bit greasy/sticky BODY 🎇 Sun Bum Broad Spectrun SPF 50 (cannot find in cherie) is a great all around sunscreen for long days on the water! It smells like banana laffy taffy, rubs in easily, and is water resistant for 80 minutes 🎇 Supergoop! - Glow Oil SPF 50 I love body oils so I was naturally drawn to this product. It has a spray nozzle for easy application or can be dispensed into your hand and spread on. This absorbs immediately and leaves you glowy all over...swoon! 🎇 Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion with SPF 15 (also not on Cherie) is how I finally convinced my sunscreen-hating fiancé to use daily sun protection. He uses it on his face as well as his body and loves that it feels like a moisturizer rather than a sticky sunscreen. ☀️ I hope you all have fun in the sun this weekend (with lots of spf of course 😉). What’s your go-to sunscreen?!
Don't Fear This Foaming Cleanser!😉💖💕
elta md SKINCARE - Foaming Facial Cleanser This oil free foaming facial cleanser is great for oily skin. It is PH-balanced and doesn't dry out your skin like other foaming cleansers. ✨The Star Ingredient!!✨ Bromelain Derived from pineapples this enzyme softens and smoothes the skin. It also reduces inflammation and removes dead skin cells! ✨Key Benefits!✨ Removes damaging pollutants resulting in a 48% reduction in skin damage caused by pollutants Prevents recurrence of skin damage resulting in a 36% reduction in skin damage when exposed to pollutants in the future. I use this on a daily basis, I have sensitive combination skin and it helps to keep my skin in perfect condition!! This is a great cleanser for a cleansing tool like the PMD Beauty. The foaming effects works really well with the vibrations of a cleansing accessory to get deep into pores.😁 I highly recommend this product if your pores are clogged and your skin is oily. Don't fear the fact that it is a foaming cleanser, these have a reputation of drying out skin, but this one is formulated with a lot of thought! My skin is never dry after using this.
Oily skin? You CAN'T miss out these two products👉👉👉
I have oily skin and I do recommend these two face cleanser. Murad - AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser This cleanser opened up a whole new world of non-foaming cleansers for me. It contains exfoliating particles, so those with sensitive skin should steer clear of it. It doesn't foam up much either, but it leaves my skin squeaky clean with no tightness at all. It's a cleanser very suitable for oily skin. I usually use this cleanser a few nights a week and it always feels comfortable after it's washed off. You won't regret buying it if you're looking for a cleanser with an exfoliating effect. elta md SKINCARE - Foaming Facial Cleanser I think almost everyone has this facial cleanser. Its thick, rich foam gently cleanses and doesn't irritate. I also really like how it smells. I've been using this facial cleanser recently when I'm not using the Murad's cleanser. It lathers a foam on its own so it's really suitable for lazy bums. Using the EltaMD facial cleanser with the Murad exfoliating cleanser is sufficient for my daily cleansing. Have you tried either of them before? Let me know 🥰
🔎Petroleum products in skincare
I figured I would give these slides I made their own post since so many people seemed to find it helpful. ⚠️DISCLAIMER: I’m not a skincare expert. This information is based on my own internet research. It’s easy to find conflicting information about almost any topic or Ingredient, so don’t freak out if you use some of these ingredients. I grew up using all things Vaseline & cheap drugstore products in the house... I think I first had reservations about Vaseline when trying to use it as a lip balm replacement. It didn’t offer anything beyond the illusion of hydration at first, leaving me craving a reapplication. When I learned about what it actually does I understood why. In 2020 there are so many petroleum product free products available at affordable prices, but it’s important to note that these ingredients are still prevalent in so many drugstore skincare products & even in highend products like La Mer crème. Aside from Vaseline brand, it’s uncommon to find information regarding the refinement process of petroleum products in the US, making it harder to know what’s safe... These ingredients are still so prevalent despite the concerns simply due to their very cheap manufacturing costs. They’re also in shampoos, conditioners & body lotions. The use of these ingredients skincare products has been banned in Europe if the full refinement history is not disclosed. Why people use Vaseline: There are 2 different types of moisturizers. Products like essences & serums hydrate the skin without the waxes & emollients that make creams & lotions thick, so they don't clog pores or feel greasy or heavy. This first type adds moisture to the skin & the other stops or “blocks” the natural moisture that your skin produces from being lost to the atmosphere. Due to the large molecule size of Vaseline, it coats of the outer layer of your skin to prevent water loss, but cannot be truly absorbed. (See my last 2 posts to discover an interesting moisturizing product that actually has the same molecular size as our skin particles!) So in theory, Vaseline is used as a skin protectant. Vaseline brand petroleum jelly is purified & refined to a level that the FDA considers non-carcinogenic. Personally I would steer clear of it for lip balm because there are so many other options to hydrate without the consumption risk. 👄I added a slide of a few popular lips balms w/ petrolatum is the 1st ingredient. It’s also important to think about the cleanliness of your Vaseline container. Considering it will trap any bacteria on your skin or wounds under it, what bacteria may already exist in the container? I know for me growing up, the family Vaseline jar in the bathroom was pretty gross. A lot of people still swear by this stuff, just look up “Tyra Vaseline frenzy” on YouTube... but if you have sensitive or acne prone skin, I personally don’t recommend it. Try something like pure vitamin E oil in a dropper to minimize bacteria. It will nourish dry lips & dry skin patches!
How high SPF do I really need?
Higher SPF values? Whether hey’re worth? Well, the fact is a higher SPF may not be worth the extra cost. Summer is coming and is its vacation season. Many should be prepared for the beautiful sunshine. One of the questions people may have is “how high SPF do I need?” and “Does it really make a difference?” I was one of them holding these questions for years. Now lets figure it out! One of the wrong skincare myths many may have is “higher SPF is better” unfortunately , that’s wrong. SPF basically measures how long a sunscreen will protect you from ultraviolet B rays. Which are the rays the damages the outer layer of the skin called epidermis. Some of you might heard that FDA is considering capping the SPF max is 60. This SPF number tells you how long these UVA rays would take to burn your skin comparing with no sunscreen on your skin. Above a certain level, a higher sun protection factor (SPF) has little added benefit compared with a lower SPF. According to a recent study from Harvard, “Experts generally recommend using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, which blocks out 97% of UVB radiation. It’s tricky that the values above 30 becomes kinda tricky. Higher SPF can be more forgiving..” This means that it may be worth a higher SPF if you're planning to be outside for more than two to three hours. In real life, many actually don’t apply sunscreen exactly the way the instruction explained meaning that they either do not apply enough on the surface of their skin or they don’t re-apply as frequently as they should through out the day especially during hours of peak sun exposure (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Elta MD UV Elements is a 100% physical sunscreen in a tinted, moisturizing base. This is the sunscreen most recommended to me by multiple dermatologists and skincare experts that I have interacted with. One thing I really love about this product is that its supper gentle. My mom is a super sensitive skin and almost allergic to 90% of the sunscreen. This one works well for her. This has a nice, creamy texture, and and re-applies nicely.elta md SKINCARE - UV Lip Balm Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 31
My secret tips&hacks for your beach holiday!
Beach makeup base can be a huge struggle! Don't waste unnecessary time on it or keep worrying about it all the time! What we need is a smooth, clean, long-lasting, hydrated, and natural glowing beach makeup that lasts. I've been experimenting and here are my secret tips&hacks for all of you! 💓xoxo Tip 1: Never skip sunscreen!☀ Recommendation: elta md SKINCARE - UV Elements Broad-Spectrum SPF 44 $48 Many people underrate the importance of wearing sunscreen. The right product not only protects you from sun damage, but it can also even out your skin tone. I'm using the EltaMD UV elements tinted sunscreen SPF 44. It is gentle and water-resistant. Sometimes I use this single product as a lightweight foundation and it's good to go! Also perfect under makeup. A little tip, remember to apply 1/4 teaspoon of the sunscreen (mostly around 3 pumps) on your face so that you can cover your skin equally and ensure SPF protection to work! Tip 2: Mix up tinted moisturizer and bronzer😻 Recommendation: NARS - Laguna Liquid Bronzer (SPF 15) $40 Try to mix a few drops of liquid or gel bronzer into your moisturizer before applying foundation. And then finish your base with the foundation over. It mutes the color a bit and avoids making your complexion seem too dark. I'm using Nars laguna liquid bronzer. I love how its subtle shimmer creates a healthy-looking glow! Check how it works on my skin. Tip 3: For foundation & concealer: less is more🤡 Recommendation: MAC - Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation $45.5 The last thing you need is heavy make-up and fragile formulas. Cream, gel, and liquid-based products are wiser choices. Don't be cakey! Use foundation and concealer as little as you can to create thin makeup. I highly recommend my secret foundation - MAC Pro Longwear nourishing waterproof foundation. It has an oil-free, watertight formula and the liquid texture is easy to be blended seamlessly onto your skin. I've worn this product to water parks, to beaches, to pool parties and my makeup stayed put the entire time!🙆🙆🙆
I’d rather get coal then this chalky SPF
I love this brand but I would rather get coal than the physical broad spectrum SPF 44. It is for drier skin because it has Hyaluronic acid in it to hydrate. I find that this SPF is super chalky and thick, also I had a super hard time blending it in to my skin. It is under $40 and it’s funny because this brand also makes my favorite SPF so I thought I would try this one for winter and I was not thrilled with it. Maybe for someone with super dry skin but I can’t imagine it would sit well on their skin either. If you want a good SPF go with their 46, it’s amazing! elta md SKINCARE - UV Elements Broad-Spectrum SPF 44

NATURE REPUBLIC - Aqua, Super Aqua Max, Combination Watery Cream I really love the way this product feels on my skin. It glides on easily and dries quickly. My skin feels silky and smooth as a result. This really makes for both a great daytime or nighttime (or both) moisturizer. Recently, I have noticed that my skin wakes up rather oily (since the initial post of this review, it’s gotten better with the use of elta md SKINCARE - Barrier Renewal Complex ) so now when I do use it, it’s not as bad in the mornings. There are a few silicones in its ingredient list, including dimethicone. I actually think it’s the dimethicone that gives it that feeling of silkiness once it’s on the face (many makeup primers have a version of that in it). However, it is said that it’s an ingredient that should calm irritation, minimize redness, and protect the skin from further damage so it may not be all bad. So, not really sure ... I might do more research on it since I’ve read some sources say it’s not good for you (silicones apparently clog your pores)🤷🏻♀️ Other than that, I like it as a whole, especially that it feels very cooling to the skin when I put it on. Also a really nice fragrant scent (though some might not like that due to sensitivity to scents).
Current Product Line-Up
My Current Faves: Herbivore Lapis oil- so calming, soothes all redness and irritation. Eminence Stone crop hydrating mist- new purchase. Extremely hydrating, smells nice. Still figuring out if it’s going to be an every day toner or just when I need extra hydration. Herbivore Blue Tansy- Love this mask! Instantly soothes and improves redness and inflammation. Will definitely repurchase
AVERR Aglow-#2 Radiant Cleansing Nectar
This cleanser feels so luxurious and I know for a fact cleans EVERYTHING off my face. After using this, I usually use a cotton pad with toner and nothing (dust, random flakes of stuff) comes off! This never feels drying on my skin like some cleansers do as well.

Don’t forget the sunscreen ☀️
Here is my current sunscreen collection (I also just ordered the Krave Beet Shield, so excited!) COOLA - Classic Face Organic Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 I like how lightweight this feels. It’s not greasy and smells like cucumber which is super refreshing! innisfree - Daily UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 36 Newer addition but so far I’m liking it. It’s also fairly lightweight and non-greasy. It smells pretty “sunscreen-y” so it’s not my favorite. elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 Best for last! This is so lightweight and has great ingredients like niacinamide and lactic acid. It absorbs so well without leaving any residue or oiliness. It has a higher spf which is great. No fragrance and sits well under makeup or by itself. Definitely my go to!

Summer 2020s sunscreen
Sunscreen is KEY to my routine since starting using a retinoid in October! Finally got to try elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46and my first impression is great. It’s lightweight, rubs in clear and has a mattifying effect

Love this sunscreen. I have hyperpigmentation and this sunscreen lightly covers it and evens out. I apply this sunscreen everyday after my moisturizer and it goes on smooth and doesn’t make my face look oily. This is lightly tinted in color. So, it doesn’t have any white cast on my medium dark skin. This also doesn’t smell like other sunscreens out there. My makeup never pilled up when I used this sunscreen elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46
