“NO FAIL” RETINOL ROUTINE - PM
I shared earlier this week my “no fail” AM skincare routine the products seen in that post I’ve used time and time again. They’ve never let me down and along with the ones listed here, are repurchases that keep my skin happy and healthy! Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Cleanser I like to use this cleanser when my face needs a little extra pampering. Milk Cleanser is super soft and gentle and leaves my face feeling very nourished. INDIE LEE - CoQ-10 Toner same as used in the AM. I'm from - Rice Toner I honestly cannot get enough of hydrating products, especially when I am using my retinal. I have probably five open at this time and will use them all or a few at a time. This Rice Toner is so soft and smooth. If you’re into essences or toners this is a must try! I splash a few drops into my hand and then pat it onto my face leaving it wet until I add.... THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum I lock the Rice Toner in with HA. I am indoors most of the time, a bit of a recluse, but my skin still get very dry so I lock in the hydration first and end with the moisturizer! Medik8 - Crystal Retinal this is a bit expensive but well worth it to me because within weeks of use I saw significant changes. I’ve been asked my so many what I use for skincare as I have hardly any lines and I used to worship the sun with no sunscreen (⚠️) But I’ve been lucky and take very good care of my skin now. You only need a pea size amount of retinal for your face and add it to DRY skin. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask last up is my new favorite (on my second bottle), the YTTP Dream Mask. You only need a small amount with this and I go through about two a year as I use it every night. It’s gentle enough to use nightly but if you’re using other treatments you may want to alternate nights (if you have sensitive skin as it has vitamin c). You can put a light layer of moisturizer on before applying this but for me, this is plenty. The Crystal Retinal I use is non-drying so I am good with just the mask. But if your retinol tends to dry your face, I’d recommend adding a light layer of moisturizer before the dream mask. ⭐️ That’s it! You could eliminate the 2 toners (Co-Q10 & Rice Toner) and simplify it down to 4 steps. I’ll be sharing my PM exfoliating routine soon! One of my favorites!!! I never thought I’d love exfoliating so much 😂 Much ❤️ my @cherie family! 🍒 #cheriecreator

Which Retinoid should you use?
Retinoids are talked about as the best topical for most skin concerns. It does everything from reduce acne to reducing wrinkles! But it gets confusing with so many different forms of retinoids. They all have the same benefits, but some are just more powerful than others. The more potent it is, the more potential for irritation, so try starting with a less potent and less irritating retinoid like a Retinyl Ester and then switch to a more potent one like Retinol after a few months! HOW TO USE Retinoids can be used up to once every day, but this might be too strong for some and could cause some irritation. Try starting with just 1x per week, then gradually increase if you don't experience any signs of irritation. You definitely don't need to use more active ingredients on top of retinoids, but you can (doesn't mean you should). Just be cautious of using other active ingredients while also using retinoids, avoid using them in the same routine and try alternating them instead. They can be applied in a few different places in your skincare routine depending on your skin tolerance. Ideally, actives like retinoids are applied first after cleansing, however, this can also increase chances of irritation. If you experience irritation, you can try "buffering" (apply moisturizer first, then retinoid) or "sandwiching" (apply moisturizer first, then retinoid, then more moisturizer) and reduce the frequency. Below are some example products for each type to help you choose. REMEMBER, retinoids make you more sensitive to the sun and the sun undoes the benefits, so make sure to WEAR SUNSCREEN! Retinoic Acid Prescription Tretinoin (use as directed by the prescriber) Retinal Avène - RetrinAL ADVANCED Wrinkle Corrector Medik8 - Crystal Retinal Retinol The Ordinary - Retinol 0.2% in Squalane The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane The Ordinary - Retinol 1% in Squalane Medik8 - INTELLIGENT RETINOL PAULA'S CHOICE - 1% Retinol Booster Neutrogena - Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum stratia - Night Shift Retinyl Ester The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane #Dr. Sam’s - Flawless Nightly Serum[products]# THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum(Contains both Retinol and the Ester) #CheriePartner

Real Results!
What has been your most recent influenced product(s)? I’d say mine is most definitely Medik8 from none other than @boydoesbeauty After his video chat with Dan from Medik8 I had to give his “must haves" a try! I’ve been working with Medik8 - Crystal Retinal since February and can’t stop raving about it. I started at level 1 but quickly jumped to 6 as I felt I wasn’t getting results I wanted with my mature skin. I will now be transitioning into level 10 as soon as I finish up what left in my level 6 container. These babies last a long while! Well worth the money! I’ve been using The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 for a long time now but I’m not sure I can ever go back. I used the example of driving a Ferrari and going back to your basic Nissan (yes, that’s what I drive) when comparing these two formulas. Medik8 - HYDR8 B5 Liquid Rehydration Serum is like pure silk! I can feel everywhere it touches my skin. I feel my other skincare products work better since I started using this. My skin feels instantly hydrated and much softer. Silky smooth! The Medik8 - Eye-lift Peptides is amazing! I have seen dramatic results in the firming of my eyes as well as a lift in my upper eyelids. As we age the skin on the upper eyelid can tend to sag. This beauty does it all; fills in fine-lines, reduces dark circles and puffiness, and gives that lift we all need. 😉 I’ve just placed a reorder of their Medik8 - Full Lash & Brow Advanced Lash & Brow Serum serum. The results I’ve seen with this are what my dreams are made of. I have very sparse brows and just into 2 weeks, I had seen a difference. I actually had to trim the hairs for the first time in forever! I can’t wait to see the results after 2 months! I haven’t noticed a change in my lashes but I am going to take some before pictures cause I think that will help document any changes. And finally, Medik8 - Clarity Peptides This contains three potent actives: 10% niacinamide which calms and soothes redness, blotchy skin and blemishes, Crystalide peptide which adds light reflection for a translucent skin effect, and zinc PCA that minimises sebum production and balances skin bacteria to tackle blemishes. Achieve visibly perfected, luminous skin when you need it most (via website). I have yet to see any noticeable changes with the Peptides but I also know it can take 2-3 months for this to happen. This probably won’t be a repurchase for me as I feel I can get the same benefits from The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I’d have to do more research to be certain, though. Much ❤️ my @cheriefamily 🍒 #CherieCreator

What did I bring...?
I haven’t traveled in over a year! And having to choose what to bring with out of all my skincare choices was hard! I knew I wanted to lay-off the actives/chemicals as I’d be out in the sun on the beach all week but I also wanted to still be able to treat my skin if any issues popped up. Then it was, do I bring a bunch of stuff to photograph? Nope! In the end I just ended up picking my favorites as well as those that were small and easy to pack. The most easy to choose were from Youth to the People. They have a great line that could take me from cleansing to moisturizing and not needing any other brand at all. But that wouldn’t be much fun! 😂 Some of the standouts are: FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm to remove sunscreen YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - With Pride Minis Kit in here is the Superfood Cleanser. Also the exfoliating mask and Superberry mask if I feel I need them. Plus I got the black cosmetic bag to put all my skincare in! Perricone MD - Hypoallergenic CBD Sensitive Therapy Rebalancing Elixir I’ve been using this ever since I got it about two weeks ago now and LOVE it! My skin feels and looks so much healthier. I’m impressed! Medik8 - Full Lash & Brow Advanced Lash & Brow Serum I don’t think I’ll ever be able to live without this! I’m almost through my first one and I’ve had to trim my brows TWICE now! They are far from perfect but I’m hoping with continued use I’ll need less time filling them in. I’ve started to also notice a difference in my lashes. When I curl them they touch the top of my eyelid! (I’ve been using this for @ 6 weeks) FACETORY - FaceTory Oats Calming Glow Weightless Facial Oil I brought this one along not only for myself, just Incase (although I have 5 bottles of facial sunscreen!) but for my family who isn’t as persistent as me at reapplying. This will be great for dry, sunburn skin. Help calm and restore it. One of my favorites! I’ll be hoping to share more this week on some of the sunscreens and body products I brought with. I got hit with my monthly cycle and unfortunately my periods are very heavy and very painful. So these first two days so far have been a bust 🥴 although today and overcast out anyway. Much ❤️ my @cheriefamily 🍒 #CherieCreator

Empties- Will I repurchase?
FARMACY - Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherry $62 Yes - I’ve gone through 3 bottles so far & LOVE it. A beautiful light scent & it leaves no tacky residue. My hyperpigmentation went away quickly but my acne & the few sun spots are taking a little longer. SUNDAY RILEY - Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream $65 (Boxycharm) No - Although I really liked this cream I can’t justify spending that much for it. I feel I can get the benefits of this cream with the serums I use at a cheaper price. I liked it as a lightweight summer moisturizer but can’t say I saw brightening effects, I know I’d have to use it longer. CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum The Brightening Solution $79 YES! - this one is a hard pill for me as Caudalie is not CF (sell in China). I picked up a sample & was wowed! My face looked instantly brighter the next day. I’ve noticed a SIGNIFICANT change in my spots. If you go to purchase this one I highly suggest getting it in the CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum Set as it costs the exact same as purchasing the serum on its own & you get the same size. No brainer! INDIE LEE - CoQ-10 Toner $34 HECK YES! - I’m on my 3rd bottle! My skin drinks this up & everyone should have CO-Q10 in their routine. The best way I like to use this is to dampen my face (instead of water) with it before adding my Hyaluronic Acid and other serums. THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum $8 No- Not my favorite HA ONLY because I don’t like the bottle. I do find this formula to be a bit less tacky than TO. I’d like to see it out of plastic & with a dropper. Kate Somerville - Kx Active Concentrates Bio-Mimicking Peptides Serum $98 (Boxycharm) NOPE - yes I really liked this & saw some benefits in regards to my fine lines but no way can I justify it for that price! The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 $8/$12 Not sure - This has been a 4 time repurchase for me in the past but I’ve discovered a new beauty Medik8 - Hydr8 B5 Intense Serum $58 The Medik8 goes on like silk & only a few drops are needed. I find with The Ordinary it’s more tacky & I need more to feel hydrated. But the price difference is night & day. I’m just not sure I need to spend that much on a HA. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil $10 YES!! - Another product that I’m on my second repurchase. At first I didn’t like this as I found it to pill but I have gotten around it. Will keep this is my routine for its skin brightening abilities. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% $6/$10 Yes, for now - I’m not a fan of how tacky this is & it actually can get “soapy” on me. I’m on the hunt for a new one but for now, this will work. 😘 to my@cheriefamily! #cheriecreator

This mornings routine focusing on hydration + repair! I’m now on week 3 of Epiduo (BP and Adapalene) and so far, I’m pretty blown away by it. I forgot how quickly Benzoyl Peroxide works on my skin. From the second week, both of my cheeks have been completely clear (they were the areas affected) and PIH is fading at a nice rate, thanks to some supporting products I’ve been using. My chin purged quite quickly (ironically, I only had some closed comedones on that area, so now that looks worse than when I first began) and now continues to go back and forth between clearing up/breaking out. Toleration wise, it’s been easier than I expected given my past experience with Differin. I still have to be careful and cannot use it more than every other night + only applied after moisturiser, but I’ve only experienced mild erythema and some minor flakiness so far. I’m eager to share some B&As but it feels too preemptive! 💧 Cleanse with Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser - I went back to this when I had my PD flare and it’s been a nice addition in the AM whilst on Epiduo. The texture is just my fave (but I hate that scent). Removed with tepid water only. 💧 LED mask for 10 minutes with Neutrogena - an LED mask that utilises Blue Light (targets acne) and Red Light (stimulates collagen production + reduces inflammation) to treat acne. I’ve been using this for two months (ish) and it’s just as good as the DDG Spot Lite Device, but obviously more convenient if you need to treat larger surface areas. Since I’m not using any actives other with Epiduo as to not over stimulate/sensitise the skin, this has been a great companion to treat the breakouts + inflammation in a non-invasive way. 💧 Mixed Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Intense with PaulasChoice Peptide Booster. This has been my favourite combination in the PM (paired with a gentle pigment correcting serum that I’ll share soon! 🤐) when using Epiduo, together they are deeply hydrating + restorative. I had some flaking this morning so decided to use it this AM too.

Vitamin A/Retinol is used to treat acne and reduce signs of ageing, reverse sun damage, fine lines and pigmentation. It also helps promote a firmer look and a smoother appearance. It comes in several different forms. There’s retinol, tretinoin, and retinoic acid – then there’s the next generation molecules such as retinaldehyde (retinal) and retinyl retinoate. ⠀ Medik8 have just released two lower strength retinaldehyde products, the Crystal Retinal 1, and Crystal Retinal 3 so as to make it easier to build up strength slowly over time. . Crystal Retinal 3 is formulated with 0.03% Encapsulated Retinaldehyde, which is the next generation of Vitamin A that works up to 11 times faster than retinol. This particular product also contains Hyaluronic Acid which has a unique ability to attract and retain more than 1,000 times its own weight in water, hyaluronic acid draws moisture from the surrounding atmosphere into the skin, leaving the complexion feeling both nourished and supple. . My skin is quite accustomed to a higher strength retinol so I used this on days when my skin needed a rest but at the same time I wanted to have the benefits of retinol on a lower level. It has a beautiful delicate floral scent that I love, and leaves my skin feel amazing! There was no peeling or dryness and I think this is the perfect retinol for anyone starting out, or for anyone like me who wants to power through, some days with a high strength retinol and some days lower when my skin needs a break. I highly highly recommend this.

I get asked a lot what the most important steps in a skincare routine are. We have all been swamped with product options, ingredients, and routine steps so it’s easy to get lost in it all and get it wrong sometimes, or even perhaps feel overwhelmed with the numerous steps. medik8 help simplify this question with their CSA philosophy. This means the most important steps are: ☀️ Vitamin C + Sunscreen in the daytime 🌙 Vitamin A (retinol) at night. Daily Radiance Vitamin C + SPF 30. £55. This is a thick creamy moisturiser containing tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, a gentle yet effective form of vitamin C, plus broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF30. I’m usually REALLY sensitive to sunscreens, but I have been using this all week and have not experienced watery eyes once! It’s consistency is thick, absorbs really well, and has a citrus scent. For anyone who has tried their C-Tetra vitamin C serum, it smells zesty just like that. I can’t even express how much I love this. I know I will be using this to the very last bit. Please note there is no white cast, SPF smell, or stickiness with this. In love is an understatement! Surface Radiance Cleanse Resurfacing AHA/BHA Mangosteen Cleansing Gel £18. This is a really gentle cleanser containing an exfoliating AHA/BHA complex of mandelic, lactic and salicylic acid as well as glycerin for deep cleansing and pore refining, without any stinging or dryness. At first I did expect this to sting like some other acid cleansers I own but it didn’t at all. I feel confident using this even on my retinol days and not worried that it would dry out my neck and chest area.

Oil Cleansers...My FAVOURITE first cleanses option is always oil... They work so well at breaking down makeup, SPF and daily grime. As oil attracts oil... so it’s super cleansing without stripping the skin. . I pour a coin-sized amount into the palm of my hands, rub together and massage into my skin for at least a minute... A good oil cleanser will completely emulsify with water, turn milky and wash completely away... It has to actually be the most enjoyable step in my entire skincare routine! These are some of my faves... 🌟super.facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil - such a gorgeous silky oil with an amazing uplifting scent. I recommend this to EVERYONE! And everyone I know LOVES it... 🌟simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil - just as lovely as above but without fragrance if that’s something you prefer... also an absolute BARGAIN at £6. 🌟medik8 Lipid Balance Cleansing Oil - This is such a thoroughly enjoyable and effect oil cleanser. Focusing on riding the skin of any build-up of pollution, the skin is left feeling amazing after this! 🌟doubles All-In-One Argan Oil Cleanser - This is such a beautiful natural oil product. Slightly thicker in consistency you need to add a little water to help massage it into the skin, smells gorgeous and again as all the others it just leaves skin feeling amazing... 🌟theinkeylist Oil and Water Double Cleanser - a new one to the collection this works slightly differently, shake to mix the oil and water and can be used with a cotton pad or rubbed in with hands... if you haven’t tried an oil cleanser or are scared of using an oil on your skin this is the one to try... doesn’t even feel like an oil, actually feels like water! Still super effective at breaking down makeup etc and washes away completely leaving skin feeling super soft and cleansed! Let me know if you already use an oil and which one is your fave? Or if you’re scared to try one let’s chat...

Amazing product from Medik8 🎉
Amazing product from Medik8 🎉 I’ve been using for over a week and I can honestly say it’s made a visible difference...I use lots of hydrating products and all number of hyaluronic serums to achieve endlessly plump skin. This product alone delivers what I need without 1000 layers... although that’s not going to stop me using them! 😉 Hydr8 B5 Intense is a super-power hydrating serum, it has a lovely lightweight texture which melts into skin, the stunning vibrant purple color comes from antioxidant-rich saskatoon berry which helps protects the skin’s natural stores of hyaluronic acid. Not any old basic hyaluronic serum this is also packed with natural moisturising factors which make up the skin’s integral hydration system. This intensive version of the original Hydr8 serum gives skin the power to withstand dehydrating changes in temperature and humidity, leaving the complexion showered in moisture, plump and dewy... 💦💦💦 WINNER! 🙌🏻

Do you fear using retinol?
Do you fear using retinol?
Fear no more with Medik8 - Crystal Retinal When you hear Andrew from @boydoesbeauty talk about his favorite skincare you can’t help but want to immediately run to purchase it all! His skin is absolutely flawless and has that gorgeous healthy glow we all go gaga over!!! Now you can shop his top picks and save some dough $$$ - 15% off! Code: BDB-15 I’ve been using the Crystal Retinal for just shy of two months and am thrilled with the results. I was so nervous to start a retinol and possibly have my face rebel. I’ve had too much of cystic acne and the scars to prove it and I was so afraid my face might “purge.” This beauty right here has changed my mindset - retinol can be gentle yet highly effective with Crystal Retinal 🖤 What I love about Medik8 is they have strengths starting at 1 and ending at 10 so you can slowly and safely work your way up. (1, 3, 6, 10) I did jumped from level 1 to 6 as I don’t think the beginner was strong enough for me (I have mature skin) and it’s been a breeze to work with. I can actually use it every night if I like. I did notice my face a bit drier when I jumped from level 1 to 6 but I easily can handle it by working with my hydration products, oils, and adding a good moisturizer at the end. I’m looking forward to now saving some money when it’s time to restock. Thanks to Andrew and Medik8! . Question... do you use retinol? If so which one? Do you have any fears about using a retinol? Drop a comment if so. And if you’re an experienced retinol user, please reach out to those who may have questions 👇

Oil Cleansers...My FAVOURITE f

All-in-one Argan Oil Cleanser

The products are really one an
The products are really one and the same, but without examining the ingredients i couldn’t state that as fact. hyaluronic acid/b5 is great for: skin repair, plumping, soothing, hydrating, retaining moisture and inflammation! in essence keeping skin looking young, fresh and healthy ! 💧💧💧 the visible difference between these is the price. the medik8 product is approx. £32-£40 depending on where you buy and the ordinary one is £6.  The ordinary: this was more sticky and thick. a little bit of the product gave very good coverage. but it took a while to absorb / dry and felt a bit like a paste on my face. once it dried and absorbed fully, i had a tingly / tightening sensation, which to me signals the product is absorbing! medik8: this is not sticky, and is a lot thinner, so you need more product to cover the same sized area. it dried and absorbed very quickly and left no sticky trace. I also experienced a tingly and tightening sensation on my face pretty much at the same time as with the ordinary serum. so I know both are effective! 🤔🧐🤓afterthoughts: the effects are the same, and despite the stickyness of the ordinary’s hyaluronic acid, I would like to continue to use it as its a lot cheaper. In fact, after a while where I used the ordinary my skin felt more hydrated, softer and more moisturised! (5/5)!!!👍🏻 lovinaloca also recommends avoiding the glossier hyaluronic & b5, as it felt super diluted and left no sensation or moisture on her face! (1/5)👎🏻

Tonight’s routine focusing on
Tonight’s routine focusing on stimulating those fibroblasts whilst soothing the skin to offset any potential irritation. . 💧JordanSamuelSkin The After Show Treatment Cleanser (for sensitive skin), massaged into the skin and eventually emulsified with water. I find you don’t need to use a flannel with this, if you take the time to emulsify and remove - lush and seems like a perfect cleanse pre-Vit A. Definitely prefer the cleanser without fruit acids - I could get itchy with the OG sometimes. . 💧 DrunkElephant B Hydra, 3 pumps to hydrate + as a buffer for the next step. . 💧 Medik8 Crystal Retinal* - a 0.6% encapsulated Retinaldehyde serum with 2 forms of Vitamin C (Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate + Ethyl Ascorbic Acid), Sodium Hyaluronate and Carrot Seed Oil. I stopped using Retinol for months during my bout of Perioral Dermatitis and this one is my introduction back into Vitamin A - it’s been a dream. Potent but non-irritating. No flare up, no flakiness/redness etc. 1 full pump using dr.sambunting 13 for technique for an even application. . 💧 DrunkElephant Protini to finish - beautiful option when you’re ‘retinol’ing’ because it’s so soothing and adds a nice protective layer for me.
