Let’s first start with a major component in “preventing” pigmentation which is sunscreen. It prevents photo damage that leads to brown spots and post- inflammatory hyperpigmentation. My absolute favorite sunscreen and the one I have been using personally for 10 years is elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 Retinoids- They work by increasing the rate of cell turnover. It helps to fade dark spots, acne marks, melasma, sun spots, and liver spots. Just be careful since retinoids can also cause irritation and redness, you don’t want to cause any more pigmentation to your skin. A good over the counter retinoid is DIFFERIN - 0.1% Adapalene Acne Treatment Gel Pump which once used to be a prescription, is now available over the counter. Glycolic acid- A popular ingredient used in many skincare products because it works so well at reducing discoloration, getting rid of dead skin cells, and creating new skin cells. It keeps pores clean and reduces hyperpigmentation. A favorite, super affordable, and one I also use personally is The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution Be careful because it may not be suitable for all especially sensitive and darker skin types. Azelaic acid- Believed to work just as good as hydroquinone. It speeds up cell turnover and reduces inflammation. A great acid for all skin types and even safe to use during pregnancy. A great option is PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster I love adding a drop or two to my moisturizer. Vitamin c- A holy grail ingredient for many and myself. A vital component of any skincare routine. Vitamin C works a lot like retinol, inhibiting the production of melanin. Not only does it lighten dark spots, it helps to brighten your complexion. Vitamin C helps to prevent hyperpigmentation, and is most helpful when used in the AM. My absolute favorite hands down is SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum I have yet to find me a better vitamin c serum. Kojic acid- This also like retinol and vitamin c reduces the production of melanin. This ingredient is also a favorite in products because of how well it works to even skin tone, treat acne and acne marks. A favorite product SKINCEUTICALS - Phyto + Hydrating Botanical Serum With Kojic Acid Alpha Arbutin- it works by decreasing the activity of melanocytes. Alpha Arbutin is known to safely and visibly brighten skin and fade pigmentation. It reduces melanin formation, improves appearance of age spots, freckles, melasma, and post inflammatory pigmentation. An amazing and affordable product is THE inkey LIST - Alpha Arbutin Brightening Serum It is a great simple formulation, and super affordable. Incorporate one or more of these ingredients into your skincare routine to achieve great results in reducing pigmentation
No 👎🏼 🍍
Okay so Vitamin C is having a major moment right now. Everyone and I mean everyone has got a Vitamin C product out there. The brand Naturium is no exception. This formula includes sodium ascorbyl phosphate which is a stable, water-soluble form of vitamin C. It also has Ascorbic Acid which is a potent antioxidant and skin-soothing agent that can improve the appearance of signs of aging. So really great combination here. My main issue with this product is all the fruit extracts! It’s like walking around in the produce section of the grocery store. Not saying they are bad in a formula. They can be good, but they are a risk for irritation. Pineapple Fruit Extract, Papaya Fruit Extract, Mango Fruit Extract, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, Pleiogynium Timoriense Fruit Extract, Podocarpus Elatus Fruit Extract. Thats a ton! My Results: I did a patch test (always do a patch test) I put this on for two days just under my jaw below my ear, and I didn’t have anything happen. However after about a week of using this product on my face I got tiny bumps that didn’t itch or anything, but just look terrible! I was so disappointed because previously my skin had never been clearer. I was unable to return this product because I purchased it with a coupon code. I hadn’t known that small detail when I purchased, but oh well that’s just how it goes. I stopped using this on my face and have been using it on the backs of my hands without any problem. So it’s just my face that freaked out. Now my thoughts: it’s a not a terrible formulation. I personally would have preferred it without all the fruit extracts because I’m not sold on what all they really do. Also Naturium’s Vitamin C Super Serum doesn’t have them in there. So I was surprised to see them in this one. This formula left my skin tacky/sticky for some reason, which I wasn’t a fan of. However if you don’t mind fruit extracts I really believe this is a nice stable formulation of a vitamin C serum. I just happened to have a bad reaction to it. While I would recommend with reservations I definitely won’t be repurchasing this particular product. Vitamin Cs I liked better: L'ORÉAL - Revitalift Derm Intensives Vitamin C Serum & THE inkey LIST - 15% Vitamin C and EGF& Sokoglam - C’s The Day Serum & SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum (If you have the coin)

The Best Serums I’ve Ever Tried 💖✨ so worth it!
In my opinion, serums are what make my skincare so effective. Usually serums contain active ingredients to help resolve and treat any type of concerns. I’ve tried so many serums, and here are my favorites! These are the products that I will forever repurchase because I can’t live without them: THE inkey LIST - Tranexamic Acid Hyperpigmentation Treatment I got a customized serum from The Inkey List when they first arrived at Sephora (in Spring). The main active ingredient in the serum is Tranexamic Acid. It’s an ingredient I’ve only recently started noticing in skincare products and I predict that it will become one of the next “it” ingredients! It first of all helps to calm the skin and restore the skin barrier. It’s also a powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient that also prevents the transfer of pigment in the skin. In other words, this will help to calm any pf my breakouts, and also prevent scarring and discoloration from breakouts. This has done wonders for keeping my skin looking clear even with the breakouts I get around the time of the month, stress, wtc. Even if I get a breakout, the scars fade quickly. SKINCEUTICALS - Hydrating B5 Gel This first serum I put on every day and night. This serum is mainly Hyaluronic Acid which helps to plump the skin full of hydration, in turn also reducing the appearance of fine lines and winkles. Putting this serum on as a first step also allows for the products you apply afterwards to penetrate deeper into the skin. SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum This serum contains 15% pure Vitamin C, 1% Vitamin E, and 0.5% Ferulic Acid. It’s full of powerful antioxidants and enhanced with ferulic acid to boost the effectiveness of the formula. I wear this every morning after my Hyaluronic Acid Serum and always follow up with a moisturizer and sunscreen. I’ve noticed a brighter complexion and acne scars fading quicker. DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum Do you ever get little bumps on your skin from congestion that aren’t whiteheads or blackheads? This is the perfect product to try. Glycolic Acid is a powerful exfoliating acid that helps to get rid of dead skin cells on the surface of your skin and deep into the layers of skin too. It’s super effective but quite strong so I would recommend using it only 2-3 times a week. I’ve seen much smoother skin and definitely a decrease in breakouts since using this.
Hyaluronic Acid 💦
It’s a major favourite for dry and oily skinned babes alike! Half of the HA in your body is present in your skin and it binds to water to help retain its moisture levels. Did you know it can hold up to 1000 times it weight in water!? HA, when topically applied, can make the skin more hydrated and supple. It also helps smooth out fine lines while playing nice with all of your other products! Sadly, as we age, our body begins to produce less and less. Some choose to get HA fillers to plump up their skin, and since the body already produces this molecule, it’s a very safe injectable. Below are some of my products that contain HA 👇🏻 🍉GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer 💚SKINCEUTICALS - Phyto Corrective Gel Hydrating Botanical Gel 🍇GLOW RECIPE - Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum 💦SKINCEUTICALS - Hydrating B5 Gel Do you love HA? Happy Friday everyone!

Skincare Trends - Antipollution Skincare
I have sensitive, normal-dry skin and always look for products that will hydrate, soothe, and protect my skin. Recently, “Antipollution Skincare” has got more and more traction in the beauty world so I’m going to tell you a little bit about this trend and some of the products I’ve tried that are marketed to help protect against pollution and environmental stressors. Pollution and it’s effects on our skin and overall health have long been studied and have been shown to cause inflammation, premature aging, clogged pores, dullness, and discolouration. 1. COVER FX - Water Cloud Primer ($50 CAN) - A skin defense complex helps defend against blue light emissions + urban pollutants including heavy metals and free radicals. This primer feels lightweight and hydrating on the skin and wears well under makeup. 2. DRUNK ELEPHANT - D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops ($48 CAN) - Like sunshine in a bottle without the damaging effects; replenishes the delicate balance that supports a healthy barrier function and boosts skin’s defenses against pollution and environmental stressors. I truly love this product, it gives you a glow and can even be worn by super fair skin tones (like me). 3. SKINCEUTICALS - Physical Fusion Uv Defense SPF 50 ($48 CAN) Provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB Protection, boosts radiance for a more even, luminous complexion, and helps boost skin’s natural defenses to environmental stress. This SPF is my favourite of all time, it’s not greasy and gives the most beautiful glow - it’s amazing! 4. #Institut Esthederm - InCellium City Spray[products]#[FiveStars] ($39 CAN) - Hydrates and strengthens the skin’s natural defences against environmental aggressors for more youthful-looking skin. This stuff smells amazing, feels amazing, and is overall so nice. It is a super fine mist and feels so extremely refreshing on the skin - I love it! #CheriePartner
My Lazy Girl Makeup Routine
This routine is my go-to, everyday, makeup routine that takes less than 10 minutes. As you can see in my before photo, I have some redness and a couple of small breakouts. Typically what I focus on with my quick makeup routine is to even out my skin tone, add a bit of colour, and make my super blonde lashes & brows visible😆 1. First things first, I cleanse my skin with a micellar water and moisturize. If I have more time to get ready, I’ll go in with serums and treatments, but when I’m in a hurry I stick to basic skincare. 2. I always apply spf, and this SKINCEUTICALS - Physical Fusion Uv Defense SPF 50 is my absolute favourite. It’s tinted and gives such a nice healthy glow to the skin (it’s not shimmery or sparkly at all). 3. Next, I apply my FENTY BEAUTY - Match Stix Matte Skinstick (in the shade Linen) under my eyes, around my nose, and on my chin to help cover up some redness. This formula is honestly not my favourite for concealer, it’s quite dry and sometimes hard to blend but I’m just trying to use it up. I also have the highlight and contour shades and I do not like the highlight at all but don’t mind the contour shade (again, they’re both very dry). 4. Then I go over my entire face with my HALEYS - Re:Cover Pressed Powder Foundation (in shade 2.15) I just love this stuff. I’m a big fan of powder foundations in general because I find them so quick and easy to use. This formula melts right into my skin and I don’t find it to be drying at all on me. It has great coverage and doesn’t appear to be caky or too powdery on my skin. 5. I love a multi-use product for saving time and this cocokind - Chagaglo Bronze Highlighter is just that. I use a little bit of it on my cheeks to warm up my face and also dab it on my eyelids to add a little bronzy shimmer. It’s creamy and blends out well but doesn’t slide all over the place - love this one! 6. Next I added a bit of the ILIA - Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment to my cheeks and lips, I have the shade Before Today and it’s a beautiful petal pink. 7. Now it’s time for brows and I always use my essence - Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara (in shade 03) this stuff is SO GOOD and it’s like $3, I always purchase multiples at a time so I never run out. This one is the perfect shade for me and gives my brows great definition, hold, and colour. 8. Next up - lashes. I just started using this HONEST - Extreme Length Mascara + Lash Primer and it’s awesome! It has a primer on one end and the mascara on the other. I’m super impressed with the length it gives my lashes and the formula is very black. 9. My last step is spritzing my face with my CAUDALIE - CAUDALIE Beauty Elixir , this is a step that I never miss. I feel like it really blends everything together and makes it look much more natural. #CheriePartner

Niacinamide For Acne, Dark Marks and More!
Hailed as the new "it" and “holy grail” ingredient in skincare, niacinamide is an active form of Vitamin B3. It's available in many skin care products and one of the best you can add to your skincare routine! Not all formulas and concentrations are the same or function the same ways. This subsequently prevents migration of products involved in inflammation to the skin! As a result, skin becomes less inflamed and irritated. ✨Brightening - a miracle dark mark corrector ✅Best for - dark marks, post-acne hyperpigmentation, dull complexion 🧪Works to inhibit the transfer of skin's light absorbing pigment, melanin, into the outer layers of the skin. This leads to an overall faded appearance of spots. ✨Anti- Aging - treatment and prevention ✅Best for fine lines, sallow skin, wrinkles 🧪Works by supplementing antioxidants that fight against skin’s free radicals associated with aging and photoaging (skin aging due to sun/UV exposure.) 🧪Works by preventing deposits of cellular components in skin cells that make skin stiff and rigid during photoaging. The appearance of creases and wrinkles become reduced. ✨Completion correcting - smoother texture and complexion ✅Best for uneven skin texture and tone 🧪Works by supplementing an antioxidant that promotes healthy skin cell growth. Skin becomes renewed and vibrant. 🧪Works by increasing the production of ceramides which maintain skin’s barrier. Skin looks moisturized and softer. Overall, niacinamide is a safe, versatile product and fabulous addition to a daily skincare regimen.
Give me the SkinCeuticals Dupe!!!👆👆👆
I have combination-oily skin and I'm always looking for skincare products good at whitening, brightening, and lightening acne scars. I have previously tried the SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense Skin Discoloration Serum and found it worked quite well on me. The SKINCEUTICALS - Discoloration Defense Skin Discoloration Serum has a slightly sticky liquid texture. It's moisturizing when applied on the skin but it's better to follow it up with other moisturizing skincare products too. It brightens skin complexion, reduces acne marks, and corrects skin tone. I use 6 to 8 drops every day and night. You have to massage the acne marks for the serum to be fully absorbed and result in a lightening effect. If you're going for a whitening effect, you have to use it consistently without reducing the dosage. SkinCeuticals is very expensive-$98 for 30ml, so I decided to look for a more affordable alternative. And finally I found KOSMEA - Revive Illuminating Essence Kosmea is one of Australia's well-known organic skin care brands. Their Revive Illuminating Essence has a brownish-yellow oil texture which is the same as the SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense Skin Discoloration Serum. The Kosmea essence has a rosehip essential oil scent which feels great on the skin. I have oily skin so I'm always hesitant to try oils. This particular oil did make my skin look oily when first applied, but it's soon fully absorbed after massaging it in without a strong odor. It also doesn't become lumpy when I apply my Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream afterwards. Great for extra nighttime hydration and I did notice slight lightening of some dark spots . As it contains plenty of fat soluble vitamin C, you can also use this essence in the morning as it doesn't cause photosensitivity. Some of my friends told me that I look fairer after using this essence for a few weeks. It only takes $ 39.95 for 20ml. You can try it out if you think that SkinCeuticals is too expensive.

THE BEST PRODUCT FOR DARK SPOTS
SKINCEUTICALS - Phyto Corrective Gel Hydrating Botanical Gel What is it? A cooling gel serum for sensitized skin. Water-based or oil-based? Water-based. Which skin type? All skin types. Perfect for sensitized or overstimulated skin. Key ingredients: Botanical ingredients to soothe inflammation: olive, thyme, cucumber Ingredients list ( Numbers represent a position on list) Main List Water Glycerine (humectant) Propylene Glycol (humectant) Emulsifier Preservative Preservative Ingredients under 1% 7: Sodium Hyaluronate (humectant) 11: Fragrance 15: Cucumber extract (anti-inflammatory) 16: Fragrance 18: Thyme: irritant 19: Eucalyptus (essential oil) 23: Linalool (irritant) Skin-identical ingredients: Glycerin (humectant) Sodium Hyaluronate (humectant). Suitable for acne-prone skin? Ideal light moisturizer for oily/acne-prone skin. I didn’t break out! Irritants? Thyme extract Fragrance (benzyl benzoate) Linalool Does it smell? Vaguely herbal. How does it feel? Absorption Rate? Light texture that absorbs quickly. How does it fit into your routine? Use before day or night cream. Pros & Cons Pros: Effective calming serum. Alcohol-Free. Cons: Morus Alba root extract (to brighten the skin) is the last ingredient. Irritants are low down the ingredients list, but why are they included at all in serum for a sensitized skin? My experience of Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Gel I was looking for a light moisturizer to repair my pores, battered skin barrier after stupidly over-exfoliating. As a beauty therapist, I should have known better. I was so upset when I experienced adult acne because I had been acne-free for almost a decade. Out of sheer frustration, I went a little crazy with the acid toners, and my skin was now suffering: red, angry, and even more spots. This lovely calming gel serum (it might not be hydrating enough for everyone) calmed down my redness straight away. It has a lovely light, cooling texture. Although my skin is prone to dehydration because of tretinoin, this sank in quickly and hydrated my skin without blocking my pores. I only needed a small amount. What surprised me most is that it reduces my dark spots SO DRAMATICALLY. THE BEST PRODUCT FOR DARK SPOTS I've ever tried.
Acne Scars? Hyperpigmentation? Maybe you can have a look at this...
Most of the money I spent on skincare is actually not on solving acne problems because for people like me who have a lot of pimples, post-treatment is the most important because the acne scars and the pigmentation will stay there for a really long time if you don’t do anything. It is really hard to remove them all in a short period of time but there are some good products in the market that can help to make them disappear faster. SKINCEUTICALS - Phyto Corrective Gel Hydrating Botanical Gel This gel from Skinceuticals is so famous and I also have used it for a long time. This is my third bottle actually. It has a green apple colour and a very light herbal scent, and the texture is quite sticky just like glue. I don’t see how my redness goes in a few weeks but after two bottles most of the new acne scars are away and the dark spots become paler. It works well for me but the price is a little bit high to afford. There are actually not many choices in the market to solve this problem. Since the brand is really famous and this product is very effective for me I will still use it until I see a better and cheaper dupe. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo (+) I usually use this gel with a toner and a cream in a regular routine but this La Roche-Posay DUO+ can be used alone as a light moisturiser and is another product I love. It addressed not only my acne problem but also dark spots on my face. It has a very classic La Roche-Posay fragrance and is a super light lotion. When I have some spots coming out, I prefer to use this alone because this one is enough for both issues and it is super cheap and can be bought in nearly all pharmacies. For the first few days it worked very well on my face since it has niacinamide in there to fight the hyperpigmentation but I don’t find it that useful to fight the dark spots in the recently days, maybe it is because my acne scars and the inflammation has been there for a long time and I need to take time to solve it. But overall these two products are amazing and the brands are very famous and trustworthy to rely on and I do recommend you to try on these if you haven’t.

✅✅Worth repurchasing！Ideal serum for the acne skin！
When I think about the different products I’ve tried over the past year or so, this one stands out as a clear favorite. This was one of the first products in a long time that grabbed my attention and made me not want to do any other routine that didn’t include this. It is that good for the acne skin. I think this product doesn’t market itself very well because when I saw the bottle label I thought this was a salicylic acid treatment since that was what was so prominent on the package. Basically I thought it was a spot treatment and I wasn’t too interested in it because I usually like to have at least 2% salicylic acid as a spot treatment (and this has 1.5%). But I am really glad I took a closer look at the ingredients and really gave this a try because it is one of my favorite products I’ve tried. And for what its worth, I have never once used it as a spot treatment. What does it do? As the name suggests, it is for someone that cares about reducing fine lines and wrinkles as well as preventing blemishes. It is also designed to inhibit excess sebum production (which was key for someone like me that always finds themselves a bit too shiny by midday) and minimize hyperpigmentation. In a nutshell, it exfoliates skin, decongests pores and refines the skin’s surface. Where I have seen the biggest improvement is in texture on my skin and the regulation of sebum. At the end of this post I will go into detail about some empirical research that compared this product to a prescription acne medication and a prescription retinol. Briefly, here are some of the findings. Something to note is that, except for the reduction of pustules which showed improvements by week 1, all other findings took at least 4 weeks with the most effects by week 8. I will add that I saw some clearing up of my skin after a week or so, but I really didn’t see any major results until around week 4 or 5 (and I was using it almost daily). Evidence suggests that Blemish + Age Defense has been effective at: Reducing sebum production Improving fine lines Reducing pustules and papules Reducing acne lesions Improving skin tone (clarity) Improving dullness, blotchiness Improving skin roughness How did I use it? When I started using this, I stopped using all other acids and retinol because I was a little concerned that using this plus other potent actives would be too much for my skin. I used it morning and night for about 2 weeks and would apply a couple drops to my entire face after cleansing. And then I followed it up with a hydrating and nourishing routine. After 2 weeks I dropped down to just using this at night and I would sometimes use a BHA toner in the morning (although I found that I didn’t really need it). I was really shocked at how great my skin looked. The texture on my forehead cleared up and I felt less oily, my skin felt smooth and had a more even tone. I started to rotate this with retinol (using this on the nights that I didn’t use a retinol) and my skin responded nicely. I personally never felt like it dried me out or sensitized me but I was very cautious to always ensure my routines added back in a lot of moisture. After using it for 6 weeks I started to drop down to only using this once or twice a week and that has been working perfectly until I just ran out of my bottle. Who should use it? People that are concerned with both signs of aging, acne and blemishes/ skin texture. People with dry skin or with allergies to alcohol denat will want to avoid this.
Quick lil skin update
Phew my skin has calmed down so much since the last time I posted 10 days ago. I cannot even explain how bad purging was for me. I realized I had so much gunk clogged in my pores it was insane! My skin is finally calming down and getting smoother. Not completely, still have hyperpigmentation and some small comedones but I feel like I’m finally over the worst part🤞🏽😅 My current skin care routine definitely feels less harsh than what I was using in the beginning and is as follows: AM Routine: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser Gentle on my skin in the morning, not stripping or drying but kinda pricey I feel like you could find a similar, cheaper option SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face OilJust started using this for the past week so I can’t tell if it’s doing anything yet but it’s fast absorbing AND it’s THD Ascorbate (as opposed to Ascorbic Acid) meaning it’s more stable, can be mixed with niacinamide and other higher pH ingredients AND has a longer shelf-life The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HAAlso just started using this so not sure if it’s doing anything CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin A+, love to death elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 Another ride or die🤞🏽 PM Routine: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil I’ve learned that I love cleansing OILS as opposed to balms but there are cheaper options out there ☺️ CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin Started using this again at night and so glad I did! It really feels like it’s cleaning and getting into my pores 🧼 (key: after washing my face for a minute I let the wash sit for another minute or 2 to let the SA really sink in) SKINCEUTICALS - Blemish + Age Defense MY HOLY GRAIL. Has really transformed my skin in the past 2 weeks, definitely recommend if you’ve got the budget cause this bad boy sits at $92 PURITO - Centella Green Level Calming Toner I apply this thick calming toner 15 minutes after letting my skinceuticals absorb in my skin and it’s so calming love it ACURE - Radically Rejuvenating Eye Cream Love this thick eye cream especially when I put it in my skin care fridge, not sure if it does more than moisturize though THE inkey LIST - Ceramide Night Treatment Nice consistency, not too heavy or light, but not sure if it does anything yet The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane 2 drops at night to seal everything in, has my skin waking up glowy and non irritated ✨

SKINCEUTICALS REVIEW ✨✨✨
Testing out this Skinceuticals lineup 🥰 I really enjoyed all of the products pictured! they felt amazing and my skin is looking glowy, bright and hydrated this evening Skinceuticals pioneered the term “cosmeceuticals”: cosmetic products with biologically active ingredients claiming to enhance skincare efficacy. All formulas are based on optimal concentrations of active ingredients elegantly crafted into functional products- designed, formulated, and tested for effectiveness. 1st pic: SKINCEUTICALS - Phyto + Hydrating Botanical Serum With Kojic Acid discoloration correcting botanical serum with kojic acid that hydrates and soothes SKINCEUTICALS - Hydrating B5 Gel : really nice hydrating serum with vitamin B5 (panthenol), is super silky and great at plumping and softening skin SKINCEUTICALS - Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier Serum : another nice hydrating serum! Felt light but very hydrating, had an interesting color and consistency, layered well SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum : really nice vitamin C serum 😍 also has vitamin E and Ferulic acid. This is a light yet effective antioxidant serum that reduces oxidative damage from free radicals, brightens skin and reduces fine lines/wrinkles. Love it! Also very layerable (everything in this lineup is) SKINCEUTICALS - Hydrating B5 Mask : a clear gel that felt surprisingly rich in a way, it instantly melted onto my skin and infused the surface with hydration! This formula also has vitamin B5 (panthenol) which is incredible for softening, plumping, and soothing. I’ve seen the benefits of this ingredient from some of my hair products as well SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.5 Retinol Night Cream : I applied this on my neck just to test, the texture was felt nice and didn’t irritate my skin at all
Heard of Propylene Glycol yet？
ACNE. PIMPLES.OILY SKIN. Propylene glycol is commonly used in skin care products. It has the effect of moisturizing, lubricating and promoting absorption on the skin. It is slightly sticky when used on the face. Although propylene glycol can be used in skin care products and has certain skin care efficacy, its main component is alcohol, which will cause certain irritation to the skin if it is used for a long time. Moreover, it cannot be used in high concentration, which will cause skin allergy and other skin problems. In addition, do not use skin care products containing propylene glycol for sensitive skin. Let me list three main shortcomings. 1. Irritant: some people will have subjective burning, tingling and itching when they use it. 2. Defatting: propylene glycol has strong permeability and strong solubility. Excessive use may cause harm to skin. 3. Irritating dermatitis: propylene glycol is irritating to the skin and mucous. The higher the concentration is, the more irritating it is. And it is easy to cause the redness, rash, itching and rough skin. One of the products I used recently contains propylene glycol, but the concentration is very low. Generally speaking, the concentration of propylene glycol is less than 5%, which is not irritant. I checked the ingredient list of this product. Propylene glycol is used as solvent and humectant. The degree of safety is 2 (Health) - 3 (moderate). So there are still some risks. I used it for more than a month, but I didn't find any special effect. The biggest feature is that the texture is very sticky, as same as the texture of propylene glycol. In fact, propylene glycol is gradually being eliminated. Due to the relatively cheap price, it will be inevitably used in skin care products for a future long time. This High-end Dermatologist Brand is INSANE
Founded in 1997, SkinCeuticals develops innovative dermatology products designed to combat signs of aging and help prevent serious skin conditions. It is also a well loved clinical skincare is used by dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and medi-spas these days. SKINCEUTICALS - Phloretin Cf This is an excellent antioxidant serum for those looking to incorporate Vitamin C into their skincare routine. The main component is levorotatory vitamin C, sensitive skin need to be a little bit more careful when using antioxidant essence. The reason is that, skincare formulated with antioxidant essence is normally more irritating than water essence certainly. As a combination dry skin at the age of 26, I strongly recommend this antioxidant essence. I want a serum that is targeting fine lines. Basically I am looking for something moisturized and has a little bit early anti-aging formula. This bottle it is to use every day, use up strictly prevent bask in, must prevent from light! And after open the bottle, be sure to store in cool place, away from sunlight. it is best to finish the bottle within a month. Personally I didn’t finished the whole bottle within a month and ended up with the leftover in liquid became sticky, yellow, feel like deteriorated. And I did not continue to use, which is a bit of pity. Although I only finished half of the bottle, the result is very amazing, during that time I got so many compliment on my skin condition. I can physically see my skin become lighter and more pumped. I used to have dullness and unevenly skintone, everyone go to try! Another thing to notice is that, this CF is not recommended for dry skin. This might be a little strong. Another product that works best for dry skin and there's a CE FERULIC. If you are a dry skin, buy this! SKINCEUTICALS - RESVERATROL B E Nighttime Antioxidant Serum for face Another thing to notice is that, this CF is not recommended for dry skin. This might be a little strong. Another product that works best for dry skin and there's a CE FERULIC. If you are a dry skin, buy this! This antioxidant night concentrate contains 1% pure resveratrol, 0.5% baicalin, and 1% alpha tocopherol (pure vitamin E).I like its gel texture. it helped my skin to look brighter, helped uneven skin tone due to being in the sun. I apply it every night after I cleanse my face with my moisturizer that made my skin look more hydrated. Overall this is a great night time gel to help improve skin's density and elasticity.
Ingredients to Fight PIH 💥
If you're like me than once you get a pimple you KNOW you're going to be dealing with the dark mark, or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), that it leaves behind. I've had acne since I was a young teen and have been dealing with fighting these stubborn marks for over 10 years now, here are the ingredients that I look for and how I use them! Vitamin C - an antioxidant, it works to help your skin regenerate and repair damaged cells. The number one goal when fighting pigmentation issues is to speed up the skin's natural regeneration process, so that the damaged cells are sloughed off and replaced with healthy cells. Vitamin C is also inhibits melanin production, so your skin will have a harder time making dark spots when you get a pimple. It will help to brighten the skin, without changing your natural pigmentation! We all about brightening here, not bleaching or lightening the skin! My favorite Vitamin C products are the BeautyStat COSMETICS - Universal C Skin Refiner , SKINCEUTICALS - Phloretin Cf and VICHY - LiftActiv Vitamin C Brightening Skin Corrector . All three have great percentages of Vitamin C an use L-ascorbic acid, it's the purest form of vitamin c. The BeautyStat Vitamin C is my favorite because it's the highest percentage, so it works quickly, and it is extremely stable. Some people are sensitive to vitamin C and should use lower percentages or less pure forms! I only use Vitamin C in my morning routine as some of the products in the night routine don't play nice with it! It also can further protect the skin from UV rays when paired with SPF. Niacinamide - a form of vitamin B3 and an antioxidant, like Vit C. So not only does it help to lighten the skin, but it also reduces skin inflammation and acne! What that means is it helps to fight the cause of PIH while also fighting the effect. It improves the skin's barrier function for overall healthier skin! I use the PETER THOMAS ROTH - Pro Strength Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment it's a powerhouse treatment that combines niacinamide with other skin lightening ingredients - tranexamic acid, kojic acid, alpha arbutin and pentapeptide. I use this treatment at night in conjunction with my tretinoin treatment. Niacinamide and tretinoin are a match made in heaven and are both absolutely necessary in my PIH fighting routine. Niacinamide can help to alleviate the side effects of retinoids. Retinoids - a derivative of vitamin A, it's a key nutrient for cell turnover! It will brighten the skin, reduce acne, and increase collagen production. Not only is a game changer for fighting PIH, but also for anti-aging and acne. There are different types of retinoid - retinol, tretinoin, Retin A and adapalene are all different types. Some are much higher strength and require a prescription! I use a prescription strength retinoid, it is apart of my Curology prescription and uses tretinoin.

Treating and Preventing Hyperpigmentation
When it comes to hyperpigmentation, your SPF is the most important step in your skincare routine. But what else can you be doing to prevent dark spots from forming or heal ones that you are already experiencing? Enter my tried and true hyperpigmentation protocol: Alpha Arbutin, Vitamin C, Glycolic Acid, and Retinol. The combination of these products not only heals existing spots, but prevent new ones from forming. Prevent: Vitamin C serum is a powerful antioxidant that not only combats signs of aging, it actually improves the efficacy of SPF. Because of this, Vitamin C should be a key part of your daily morning routine. SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum Prevent + Heal: The effects of Vitamin C are also bolstered by the next ingredient in my hyperpigmentation protocol: Alpha Arbutin. AA disrupts the enzymes in our cells that cause melanin production meaning it prevents dark spots from forming when skin is exposed to UV light. When used in conjunction with Vitamin C in your AM routine, this effect is boosted. Your hyperpigmentation will fade as a result of cell turnover without melanin production in new cells. The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA But Alpha Arbutin also works well in your PM routine following the use of an AHA exfoliant, which boosts its absorption into the skin for further protection. And that leads me to the next part of the protocol… Heal: Healing hyperpigmentation relies on cell turnover. There are two ingredients that I rely on to achieve this. First is Glycolic acid, an AHA. As mentioned before, following an AHA with Alpha Arbutin will enhance the absorption and effects of the Alpha Arbutin. But Glycolic Acid is also a very effective exfoliant. Because it’s water soluble, it works on the surface of the skin to gently exfoliate while also having a moisturizing effect. L'ORÉAL - Revitalift Derm Intensives 10% Pure Glycolic Acid Serum The second product for healing I rely on is retinol. Like Alpha Arbutin, retinol has the specific ability to disrupt melanin production which makes it another key player in this protocol. But it also boosts collagen production in the skin, contributing to anti-aging. It’s a common misconception that retinol is an exfoliant due to its ability to irritate skin and cause flaking for some people. But retinol is actually a powerful antioxidant and skin restoring ingredient. SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.5 Retinol Night Cream It is true that for most people combining and AHA with retinol will cause irritation. I like to alternate using glycolic acid and retinol every other evening with a day off in between. And that’s it! The combination of these products in a consistent routine helped me heal severe hyperpigmentation within a month. In addition to my SPF, it has also prevented new spots from forming while combatting signs of aging.
Freckle Management. Saying ‘goodbye’ to Summer
So, you didn’t wear enough SPF this summer and now you’re dealing with a freckle face or hyperpigmentation. I get it! That’s me in the image above — August with my full freckle face. Then 3 months later in November after diligently working to find a routine to deal with my hyperpigmentation. Finding yourself in the same situation? The question is, where do you go from here.... The best approach to dealing with fading hyperpigmentation is to focus on: Skin brightening, Cell turnover aka exfoliation Starting with brightening and freckle fading, one of the most underrated ingredients is alpha arbutin. This has been the most effective ingredient for me when it comes to fading my freckles after too much sun exposure. AA is extracted from blueberry plants and reduces the skin’s pigment production while also slowing down the effects of UV exposure in causing new pigmentation. The result is it treats and prevents pigmentation. AA is not a bleaching chemical like hydroquinone which is banned in many countries. It gently evens out skin tone, reduces redness, and combats acne scars in addition to evening out freckles and sun spots. AA is most effective when paired with vitamin C serum which has also been shown to combat sun damage. I personally use separate AA and vitamin C serums: The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum ... but the Ordinary also offers a fantastic combo serum: The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% Cell turnover aka exfoliation is another critical part of addressing hyperpigmentation. The best way to encourage this is with a chemical exfoliant such as retinol. My go-to retinol is from SkinCeuticals which offers the best retinol formulation in an OTC product with a luxurious finish. SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.5 Retinol Night Cream The combination of AA with retinol treats and prevents hyperpigmentation quickly and gently. Now, be sure to protect going forward with adequate SPF! And don’t forget, freckles aren’t bad or wrong or ugly and people with freckles can choose how much or how little they want to embrace them. If you’re like me and love your freckles but don’t want them to be the absolute focal point of your face, this is a great way to manage them.

I realized that OTC actives are no match for my skin & went the Rx way: period is 2 days out & it’s still [very] quiet for my usual congestion, inflammation, & texture issues. As a disclaimer, I have [years] of experience with both OTC & Rx actives, as well as a high tolerance for irritation, so what I’m doing most certainly isn’t suitable for everyone. Absolute Fav Skinceuticals Products ⭐️
🧼 SKINCEUTICALS - Simply Clean Gel My all time favourite cleanser! Great for sensitive skin and removes all dirt and makeup easily. I use this with my silicone cleaning brush every morning and night but will double cleanse if I have a full face off make up to take off. The formula is gentle and doesn’t dry out my skin like some cleansers do. I will purchase over and over again! 🧴SKINCEUTICALS - Emollience Rich and creamy - a good staple moisturiser! I use this every morning and it sinks so well into my skin, leaving no sticky or oily residue. I have combination to dry skin and with some of the other stripping products I use, I need an effective daily moisturiser. This one really hydrates my skin and is lightweight so it doesn’t feel heavy on the face. Works really good under my make up also! The price point however is steep and looses a star for that as it’s not that affordable. 🧫 SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 1.0 Love Love Love this product. This hands down is my holy grail retinol and I will never change to another! For new retinol users, definitely start on the lower percentages of retinol as this one is the highest so you will need to build up a tolerance to it. I’ve used it for years and I credit my skins youthfulness to it! Really helps to erase fine lines and prevent wrinkles. I also find it helps to resurface my skin which fades any hyperpigmentation I have. Even though this is expensive it’s very well worth the price as a tube lasts you a good 6 months and that’s with using it every second night!

Comparison of 3 Vitamin C Serums
Almost every morning I use a Vitamin C serum to help protect against environmental damage and help prevent premature signs of aging. In addition to providing antioxidant protection, Vitamin C can also boost collagen production and help fade hyperpigmentation. I definitely consider it a skincare staple. #timeless SKIN CARE - 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum Refill🌟🌟🌟🌟 I enjoyed using this serum (which was gifted by the brand). It had barely any smell, applied nicely and it didn’t contribute to excess oil on my skin. This is an affordable serum, and if it works for your skin, then it is an excellent option to get consistent antioxidant protection in short chunks of time. Because this has the shortest shelf life of the three (in terms of what the company states in terms of efficacy). #SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum🌟🌟🌟 The first thing that struck me about this serum was that it had the most potent “hotdog water” smell. Once I got past that, I liked how it applied and absorbed into the skin. If this and Paula’s Choice Resist C15 were the same price, I would choose Skinceuticals because they have done efficacy and stability testing. But since the Paula’s Choice formula is so close to the overall formulation and effects, the products just seem far too similar to the Paula’s Choice Resist C15 for me to justify the cost difference. #PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I have purchased this serum twice now. I love how it comes in a smaller bottle (.067 oz) because that means I use it up right about the time that it is starting to oxidize and I never feel like I am wasting product. I will say that I didn’t start to really see an improvement in pigmentation until I started to use it 5 days a week (initially I was using it 3 days a week). This is my favorite serum. It works for me and I love it. Thanks to @goalstogetglowing for writing inspiration！
timeless SKIN CARE-20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum Refill
Skinceuticals Serum 10 Skinceuticals hold the Duke Antioxidant Patent which led me to believe it would be A) most efficient and B) oxidise at a slower rate than other serums. A 10% concentration also sounds appealing to me - more gentle and something I’d be able to use on a daily basis. I prefer a ‘less but more frequently approach’ with active ingredients. 🍊 INGREDIENTS. Aqua/Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Ascorbic Acid, Glycerin, Triethyl Citrate, Ferulic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate. 🍊 USAGE. Every morning, straight after cleansing. 5-6 drops pressed into face and neck. 🍊 TEXTURE. The lightest Vitamin C serum I’ve tried. Ultra-weightless and feels like nothing going on! You would need to use a hydrating serum with this though, it’s definitely not hydrating enough on its own. 🍊I used this daily for over 12 weeks and slowly but surely.

Phloretin CF - SkinCeuticals
I loveeeee this product however, if your skin tends to be dry I recommend using their CE Ferulic instead because it contains Vitamin E. Phloretin CF contains Phloretin instead of Vitamin E, so it will help those with troubled skin (such as acne, discoloration, etc) but will dry your skin a bit!
Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Gel - so calming
This is a product I was a bit wary about, despite the rave reviews. I was wary of the botanicals (cucumber, thyme, eucalyptus, grapefruit, the list goes on). I’m not against botanicals, per se, but they always have the potential to trigger an allergic reaction. But I love it! On me it’s only soothing and hydrating. It has fed my skin with humectants, calmed redness from my seasonal allergies, supported post-breakout healing. My skin just drinks it up! It also contains hyaluronic acid. I drop two or three drops onto my finger pads and press into my skin, concentrating it along my jawline and the lower outer part of my face.
