best & blah hair products @ Sephora 🌟
BEST & BLAH 👉🏻 Sephora Edition 😌🙌🏼 We all know the holy grail products we can find at Sephora. For me, I flock to the shelves for Ouai, a haircare line quite popular in the IG community 💡Before trying out their line, I was always skeptical of the value in their products. Come on, is this really worth it? I was an avid fan of it's a 10 haircare - Leave-In Conditioner Spray Product , my holy grail for my wavy, thick hair (which, is extremely damaged!) I could always count on that single product after washing my hair to smooth my hair and aid in softening my ends. Eventually, I had to try out Ouai haircare. After bleaching my hair to its absolute end, I knew I needed to find quality products when it came to styling my hair. My hair had always been picky with the products it uses, especially when it came to styling products. Sticky, thick and too drying formulas turn me off. So, when needing to find my “best and blah,” I knew I had to put Ouai in the hot seat. 1. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray This one left my hair tacky, even with a minimal amount of product sprayed on. My waves weren’t much defined as they would be without this product. This one is $12 (small bottle) at Sephora. Worth it? No, not in my opinion. A better alternative is NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Soft Waves Spray . 2. OUAI - OUAI Volume Spray Hmmm.. perhaps my hair is thick enough to have volume already. Nevertheless, I was not a huge fan of this volume spray. I used it before blowing my hair out and all it did for me was add more product onto my hair, no volume. Worth it? No 😭 I tried my best to like this product but I can’t bring myself to pay $26. 3. OUAI - Dry Shampoo Foam A NEW DRY SHAMPOO FAVORITE! I love this formula (mousse-like) and the smell. It leaves a refreshing and cooling feeling on my scalp. Worth it? YES. I’ll definitely be buying this again, worth the $28! 4. gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil This is a great hair oil, don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the packaging, the consistency and the result of my hair after smoothing this into it; HOWEVER, $46 doesn’t sit right with me for a hair oil so is it worth it? Not for me. 5. eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer I enjoyed the smell and lightweight spray of the nozzle, offering a lighter application of the product. But, too much and your hair gets STICKY. Beware of the amount you use. If used right, it’s worth your time. Worth it? $12 for a great heat protectant is worth it to me! 6. gisou - Propolis Infused Polishing Primer Ehhhh, I couldn’t find the value in this for me. I heard a lot of people talk about their hair feeling smoother after styling once using this; however, I personally couldn’t notice a difference. I loved the creamy texture but I can’t purchase it again. Worth it? $34 isn’t worth it for me 😭

Drying and styling hair is a big project…
Hair texture: Thin and soft, hard to be styled! 😭 Drying and styling hair is a big project every morning after shampoo, especially for girls with long hair. One easy tactic that I found was to use wave spray before blow drying every inch of my hair, where drying and styling can both get done in a single procedure and saves so much time in a hustling morning. Wave sprays are easy to use. I simply apply the sprays throughout my hair, mainly in the hair roots, after shower, and blow my hair to dry. For my semi-curly hair, just a simple step of spraying can guarantee the wavy style and volumize my thin hair with hairdryer, and the natural and fluffy hairstyle could last for the entire day. I have been using OUAI wave spray in the last 2 years and like it a lot until I have got my new spray a few months ago. OUAI is an American hair product brand specialized in hair styling and nutrition. And my new spray is from Shiseido, a popular middle-high end skin and hair care brand from Japan. They both are in the same price range – for around $20 per bottle. To be fair, they both work very well in creating fluffy appearance of the hair, but after using the new product for months, I realized that there are obvious differences. In comparison, I found Shiseido works better for my hair type and lasts for longer. It is very apparent that the compositions of the sprays are different – OUAI wave spray is a liquid spray while Shiseido spray is made of powder. The powders made Shiseido spray so much easier to spread through the hair and is non-sticky. And because the powder is designed to resist the moist, the hair can stay fluffy and natural even in the evening, while OUAI spray only last for 5-6 hours in the summer until the fluffy hair falls back down. In conclusion, the powder spray is more suitable for the summer and especially for people who works long hours and still need their hair to look nice and fluffy in the evening, while OUAI wave spray is just enough to meet your basic need in styling. Top HAIR PRODUCTS of 2020!!
Hey guys! This is the 3rd post for my Best and Worst of Beauty 2020 series! You guys love these posts, so let’s get right on into my top pick for haircare! Once again my disclaimer that these are my opinions, experiences, and data I’ve found. If your opinion or data differs, that’s okay, this is just for fun. Shampoos and Conditioners: 🧴 🚿 I have two picks for this category, one expensive, one cheap. For expensive I choose function of beauty - Custom shampoo + conditioner , which is my current shampoo. Function of Beauty has you take a hair quiz and choose hair goals, then they formulate a custom product based on your hair needs. It costs $49.99 for one 16 fl oz bottle of conditioner and one 16 fl oz bottle of shampoo. The price drops to $39.99 for a 8 fl oz version. Since the formulation depends on your hair, I’ll just share the link to see what may be in yours. If you go to https://www.functionofbeauty.com/ingredients/ it shows the ingredients added per hair goal. My goals are to hydrate, lengthen, anti-frizz, shine, and soothe my scalp. My hair used to be very dry and frizzy, and it hasn’t been since using Function of Beauty. My hair has grown way fast than it ever has, 6 inches since quarantine began! My scalp is also less itchy. A splurge, but worth it. If that’s too expensive you can get the ogx - Thick & Full + Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and ogx - Thick & Full Biotin & Collagen Conditioner . They’re sold separately for $7.99 each for a 13 fl oz bottle at Ulta. They make your hair very soft, as well as nourished. Scalp Scrub: 👩🧼 My pick is definitely theOUAI - Scalp & Body Scrub . It has fine sugar crystals that remove dandruff buildup, or dead skin cells on your skin. This one is pricey, at $38.00 for a 8.8 fl oz tub at Sephora. It has been on Allure’s Best of Haircare list for 3 years straight, and has glycerin and hydrating oils. Hair treatments: ✨🧴 The davines - All In One Milk Lotion is technically a men’s product, but I (a female) LOVE it! You can get a 4.56 fl oz spray bottle for $35.00 on Amazon. It makes your hair shiney, smooth, and detangles it. My only complaint is it has a very strong scent. My second pick is the Maui MOISTURE - Lightweight Hydration + Hibiscus Water Quenching Detangler . It’s much more affordable at $8.99 for a 4.2 fl oz bottle. This is a basic shine inducing detangler that works great with a comb. Hair Mousse: 🛁🧴 The LAYRITE - Natural Matte Cream is another man oriented product that’s great for everyone. For men, it’s mostly used to wax/gel their hair into place. I like it for crazy hair day or Halloween, but for people with a lot of baby hairs or pixie cuts, this is a must. Those are my picks! Thanks for reading this post! Cheer this post so more people can learn about these amazing products, and follow me to see the rest of the series! -Mae

Have you done your scalp detox?
An intergral part of our hair care routine is a scalp detox. A scalp detox is a method of massaging the scalp by brushing or using an exfoliating scrub, which helps buff away dead skin cells, unclog the pores on your scalp, and clear product buildup from the hair follicles. Detoxing the scalp can also help relieve itching, dandruff, and other forms of irritation. To have healthy hair, we need to build a healthy foundation/ scalp for it to grow well. I have using an amazing multi-use scrub from OUAI to build a healthy scalp. OUAI Scalp & Body Scrub The Sell: - Suitable for all hair types - A deep-cleansing, foaming skin and scalp scrub - Sugar: Unclogs and gently exfoliates and conditions while increasing microcirculation - Probiotic Blend: Supports your scalp and skin’s microbiome’s natural defenses - Coconut Oil: Rich in fatty acids that nourish and moisturize the skin, scalp, and hair The Look: I always love multi-use skincare and beauty products and this scrub works well for both body and scalp. While the particles can get stuck in the hair, all it takes is a couple of washes to ensure that they are removed well. It definitely helps to apply the scrub on exposed scalp for ease of cleansing. After washing, my scalp feels cleansed and light. The fragrance - Melrose Place smells like heaven, it boasts a velvety rich rose fragrance with hints of bergamot, lychee, cedar-wood, and white musk. This scrub is perfect for self-care spa day. How to use: Section wet hair to reveal scalp and massage in circular motions to gently exfoliate. Rinse and dry hair as usual. Good to know: Winner of Allure Best of Beauty 2020. Sulphate & paraben free, cruelty free US$38 fo 8.8oz, 250g OUAI - Scalp & Body Scrub

The Ouai for Curly Hair
I've been testing out a few Ouai products they sent me a while ago for my curls to see how they do. So far I'm liking the Leave-in Conditioner for refreshing my hair and the Finishing Creme for styling! They smell AMAZING! I'm not a big dry shampoo girl since my scalp is dry rather then oily, so curly girls tell me how you use dry shampoo for your hair. Have you guys tried Ouai products before? What are your faves? I think I want to they their new treatments masks next. Ouai Hit & Miss
Two products from Ouai - the cult Instagram favorite hair brand - one that worked well for me and one that was meh. It happens!! The same brand will rarely satisfy all your needs. Ouai is a pretty expensive brand for me for what they do - their haircare isn’t phenomenal like olaplex, but is definitely better than most drugstore brands. Today I’ll be talking about a hit from this brand, OUAI - Air Dry Foam and a miss from them, the OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil . I’ve used both of these for over a year now, repurchasing both of them, but after trying other things, you’ll see why the miss is a miss and the hit is a hit! My hair type: short, pixie cut - straight mostly, some wave, grows fast by lacks hydration sometimes, small damage. The Hit: OUAI - Air Dry Foam + I used to never style my hair the last time I had a pixie, and when I grew it out, I had not been styling my hair for YEARS. So I didn’t know where to go. I didn’t even own a hair dryer. + I picked this up in a mini kit from Sephora on a whim, and I kinda fell in love. For my shoulder length hair, this product gives my hair texture, some wave pattern, and cuts my air dry time down a bit and makes the process smoother. On my pixie cut, it adds a bit of texture/waves and makes my hair have some bounce. + to use, I pump one pump into my hand (that’s all!!) and then rub my hands together and gently run it through my damp hair. Too much and it will make your hair look a little greasy upon drying. + smells like lemons, bergamot, rose - their North Bondi scent in the perfume! + formulated with kale extract that leaves your hair soft and healthy and never crunchy! The not crunchy part is my favorite. + $28 for 4oz, a great deal in my opinion. The Miss: OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil + I used to love this product - I had never tried a hair oil and I thought it was wonderful. This product is multi purpose, meaning you can use it on your body too! + to use, I squirt half a pump into my hand and then rub my hands together. Then I gently and carefully apply it to the ends of my hair, never the roots, but make sure to really hydrate the ends. + to me, this is best used to work out frizz and fluff in your hair - but it doesn’t hydrate or strengthen my hair at all. In fact, it does make it look greasy if I use too much product. + it’s very runny, which some of y’all might like compared to other oils, but I don’t like that. + the scent is melrose place, their other perfume, which is bergamot, lychee, cedar wood, and musk. Not my favorite but doesn’t last too long. + $16 for this size, 1.5 oz. but they have a 3oz for 32$

Sephora favorites samples worth it? 👀✨
When I saw this Sephora favorites bag, I really wanted to get it for the ren body serum and the caudalie gel cleanser. I debated if it was even worth it, I bit the bullet and got it. I’ve got to say these are worth it. It’s great that it includes a 15% off code for each item. The caudalie purifying gel cleanser is 1oz. The full size is $28 for 5oz so it comes out to $5.60 and oz. first time I tried it it felt really good on my face. Didn’t dry me out and if I end up loving it I’ll have to get the full size. CAUDALIE - Vinopure Pore Purifying Gel Cleanser Ren clean skincare body serum, this came in a great 1.7 oz. The full size is $42 for 6.8 oz. so it comes out to about $6 with some change. I’ve been using this for a couple days and it feels great on my skin. REN CLEAN SKINCARE - AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum Lancôme mascara. This is the mini 0.06oz. The full size is $25 for 0.33 oz, $13 for the 0.13 travel size so the mini 0.06 comes out to $6.50. Pretty nice mascara so far. It doesn’t clump up. LANCÔME - Monsieur Big Mascara Ouai hair oil. This came in the 0.33 mini size. The full size is $28 for 1.5 oz, $14 for 0.45 oz. This mini size I will assume it’s about $10-12. Just used this oil and it’s incredibly soft. The downside is the smell. It’s pretty heavy but it kinda smells like gardenia flowers to me. OUAI - OUAI Hair Oil Make up for ever ultra HD microfinishing loose powder. It’s in a tiny 1 g jar. The full size $36 for 8.5 g, $20 for 4 g travel size so the 1 g jar would be about $5. I’ve had this powder before and really likes it a lot. It’s super fine which I love. It sets my makeup well and hasn’t given me that many creases. MAKE UP FOR EVER - Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder Versace perfume sample. In a very tiny spray. It’s 0.03 oz. The travel size in a spray is $30 for 0.3oz. So for 0.03 it would be about $3.75 I’ve had this in the travel size roller ball. Really nice perfume with flowery notes. I love the peony, lotus and magnolia scents. VERSACE - Bright Crystal Eau de Toilette This bag was definitely worth it to me. I ended up liking every single product. As in the price, I’d say it’s pretty good. Personally the value of the bag is more than the $10 I spent. This may definitely not be correct but this bag could have a value of about $37! The math could be way off but to me I really liked this. Have you tried or bought this bag, or are you not interested?

Empty hair favorites
I have fine hair that is easily weighed down by leave in treatments. It’s hard to find good products that help keep my hair looking healthy and create body. I have a short, textured bob style OUAI - Texturizing Hair Spray I love all of Ouai products that I’ve tried. This is a great spray that I add once my hair is styled to give me amazing body and some definition I desire. I typically like to wash my hair only 1-2 times a week and this is a product that doesn’t dry or damage my hair if left in for several days. MOROCCANOIL - Treatment Light I’m a HUGE fan of this oil because once again, it’s so very difficult for me to find any products that don’t weigh my hair down. I always used BioSilk or It’s A Ten but both were more of an overnight treatment than an everyday option. Then I received a sample of the MoreoccanOil and haven’t used anything else since. I decided to purchase the light as the original is ok for me but the light just is the best option. All I need is a dime size and my hair has a beautiful, healthy shine. Living proof. - Color Care Whipped Glaze I’m a fan of Living Proof so when I saw a mini of this Whipped Glaze with the color care shampoo/conditioner I decided to give it a shot. It’s a whipped glaze that deposits temporary dyes to instantly boost vibrancy and counteract color fading and brassiness. You add it to your hair once it is clean and towel dried, working from roots to end. My hair is the bright blood you see. I can get just a tad yellow and like to add a toner to counteract. I’ve tried several but haven’t had much luck with them. My stylist, who is a renowned blonde specialist (Chrissy Rassmusen @hairbychrissy) says the wrong toners can actually give the opposite effect one is looking for. So I did give this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️ as I believe it can work for some, it just didn’t give me the desire I like. Actually, I didn’t see any change at all. It was light weight and worked well in my hair in that aspect (as a leave-in product) I may explain this horribly but I like a very bright, vibrant blonde and sometimes adding these toners can turn my hair to the more “ashy” blonde. Both are beautiful, I just don’t like that tone against my skin. There are so many ranges of blondes these days 🤯 who knew 🤷‍♀️ just take one look at Chrissy’s page and you’ll see! I have some more finished products to review for you this week! Skincare of course 😁 ❤️🍒

My OUAI!
Instagram made me buy it! Ouai (pronounced as way), means yes, in a casual Parisian way. This brand is everywhere and promoted by our favorite beauty gurus, celebrities and the most influential family, the Kardashians. I love its modern and minimalist packaging. It really stands out when you enter Sephora. It is also a cruelty free brand yay! For me, it’s really important to use products that are safe and free from any harmful chemicals. Another reason why I love Ouai as their products are formulated without parabens and sulfates. OUAI - Texturizing Hair Spray This is a hair spray and a dry shampoo in one. I use this after curling my hair to add more volume. The holding power is not that strong but it works well to tame my baby hair when I do a high tie ponytail. The most effective way is to flip your hair upside down, spray and scrunch using just your fingers. It doesn’t leave a heavy residue but it makes my hair oily the day after I used it. Other than I love this product and it smells amazing! OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray I grew up in the tropics and one of my essentials when going to the beach is a good wave spray. I bought this in mini and used in during my travel to Bali. Nothing special about this but it does the job of creating beachy waves and enhances the hair texture. OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil I actually prefer to use it on my skin. It is light and fast absorbing. I would always bring this with me to the beach and combine it with my tanning lotion and it works perfectly everytime. The scent is not overpowering, dispenses easily & a little goes a long way. #cheriepartner@cherie

Testing my minis
So I got a lot of mini products from Ulta for buying “x” amount of stuff you get free samples. I tried them out and here’s what I think... Jack Black - Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 this lip balm is on of my favorites, when I have extra dry or chapped lips this stuff helps moisturize and repair my lips. OUAI - OUAI Body Cleanser I really like this body cleanser because when I use it I feel clean and refreshed, my skin looks cleaner and brighter. boscia - Cactus Water Moisturizer I like this moisturizer because it smells good, it’s thin, and has a nice consistency to it. It makes my face a little shiny almost sticky looking but other than that this is a pretty good moisturizer. CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin I love cerave, I love a good majority of their products. I like this moisturizer but it is a little on the thicker side and I usually like thinner moisturizers. It does it’s job and doesn’t make me breakout. exuviance - Overnight Transformation Complex I love the smell of this product, it smells fresh. It has a nice consistency. The issue I have is that it made me breakout the first time I used it. DERMAdoctor - Lucky Bamboo Probiotic Fermented Wasabi Pressed Serum this product has an odd thick consistency and it’s milky white in color. To me it doesn’t have much of a smell at all. It’s weird to me because I’ve only seen serums that are clear or transparent but this product is very opaque. It made my face feel really odd and sticky. Murad - Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture I didn’t use this product on my face only because the smell was so awful and the color was very displeasing. It smells stale and kind of waxy. The color is like a bees wax yellow. It feels oily when I put some in my fingers.

My body routine!
This is my go to body routine especially when the weather starts getting colder and my skin starts getting drier! I love to exfoliate with Nécessaire - The Body Exfoliator This one is sandalwood scented. It smells amazing and make the skin so smooth. It exfoliates, softens and renews. The formula contains: Bamboo Charcoal Pumice Glycolic Acid Salicylic Acid Lactic Acid It’s clean and vegan and amazing! OUAI - OUAI Body Cleanser On days I don’t exfoliate I use this body wash. I love the scent of it. It’s so refreshing and wakes me up in the morning and calms me down before bed at night. Nécessaire - The Body Lotion I moisturize with this body lotion. It moisturizes, nourishes and softens. It’s fragrance free and doesn’t leave you feeling sticky at all. Formula contains ingredients rich in: Vitamin B³ Vitamin C Vitamin E Omega-6 and Omega-9 This is the only body lotion I can use that doesn’t irritate my at all! CeraVe - Hydrating Sunscreen For Body SPF 30 Last I use this sunscreen. It’s important to protect from the sun on your body to! I hope you enjoyed my body routine!

Dry shampoo battle... who wins?
These are the 2 dry shampoos I have in my collection. I reach for one way more than the other so I just want to go over both of them! OUAI - Super Dry Shampoo This dry shampoo has the typical ouai scent which I do like. It’s an aerosol can like most dry shampoos tend to be. When I spray this, it does give my dark hair chalky roots. Usually I can get it to fade by rubbing it in a little bit. It does an okay job absorbing oil. It works on 2-3 day hair but beyond that it’s useless. I care more about my hair looking good than smelling good so I don’t totally love it. Plus it was pretty pricey overall. It says 4.5oz but it does not seem like that much. I don’t use this often and it’s running very low. Overall I would not purchase again. Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo I actually love this dry shampoo. It’s non aerosol so it’s better for the environment and less harsh on your hair too. You shake the bottle and squeeze it onto your hair. Application can be a bit uneven but the powder is super light so you can fluff it around to cover everywhere. It leaves a big white cast but when you fluff it out, is goes away and leaves your hair looking voluminous. It absorbs oil so well and makes my 5-6 day hair look fresh and clean! The scent is light and fresh too. This is only 1.7 oz but it seems to be lasting forever and I use it multiple times a week tbh! I will probably purchase this again because it works so well for me

MOTD 💙
today’s look is pretty standard for me! the fenty foundation, ouai perfume, and urban decay eyeliner happen almost everyday. two products that i haven’t reviewed yet are: MAC - MAC Powder Blush in ‘sweet as cocoa’ - this was my first favorite blush! i have worn this for years. it’s a satin brown blush with a slight pink/plum tone. mac powder blushes are very pigmented and they have a wide shade range & good staying power, so i would definitely recommend finding a shade that flatters your skin tone. Glossier. - Colorslide Technogel Eye Pencil in ‘early girl’ - i raved about the dark blue shade from this line in a previous post. this shade is a powder/baby blue, so i mostly use it for under eye and inner eye. it’s a fun summery color that i haven’t used as much, but i’m going to pull it more into rotation. these liners are soooo creamy and easy to use. i am still sampling the fenty mascara and will give it a few days of wear before making a final assessment.

my new summer fragrance ✨ melrose place by ouai
i am really into perfume, so i am always on the hunt for a new favorite fragrance. this has been especially true during this work-from-home season, when i may not be as motivated to play with makeup everyday. but perfume always feels like a good idea 😍 - it’s more personal and it feels like a happy final step in my morning routine. i also love associating fragrance with a certain season or occasion, so it has been important to have a scent that marks this very unique year. OUAI - Melrose Place Eau de Parfum has been such a delightful find. rose scents can be pretty heavy / mature (or ‘seasoned,’ as my grandma likes to call it). that’s one of the reasons that jo malone’s red roses doesn’t quite resonate with me. but this one is really youthful - perhaps because of the lychee. i also like how warm it smells, with the addition of cedarwood. i would definitely recommend this one, and i look forward to wearing through the fall. it retails for $56 at ulta and sephora.

Can y’all guess which product this texture belongs to?  I’ve been loving it so so much. I’ve never used a product like it before and given it’s versatility, I’m definitely going to be buying more once I run out. 💯 Also, it smells AMAZING. I can’t get enough. I have other products from this brand that have the same fragrance and I’m convinced it smells better every time. 😍 Swipe left to see if you guessed correctly! ⬅️

I received these in my last raffle box and am completely in love. These are “grown up” bath bombs with jasmine and rose as well as jojoba oil to leave your skin smooth and soft and make you relax. They smell amazing and like most bath bombs have a chalky like texture. What I love about these though is that after you get out of your bath there is no residue left behind like some others. I think the $30 price point is worth it. You get six in a jar which is $5 a bath bomb. This is right along the price point of almost any other one. The scent combination of jasmine and rose is also extremely relaxing. I give these five stars. OUAI - Chill Pills
