Huge update
So I haven’t been on here in a little while because I’ve been trying to take a break on taking photos of my face and looking at skincare social media because it’s really compromised my mental health and I’m a lot less stressed about it when I’m not constantly focused on it if that makes sense :) Anyways WHOLE NEW ROUTINE last time I checked in I had mentioned I switched to differin, I’m not too sure if that helped me, I did purge a lot. But skin has healed so much faster since stopping differin I finally got to visit the derm and she told me to go back on tretinoin 0.025% to use every night, and she also prescribed me with the clindamycin topical solution 1% to use once every morning. She also advised me to go back on birth control. At first I was not fond of that because birth control AKA I.U.D HELL brought this acne upon me in the first place. But she recommended it to get my hormones back in check, but she also stated she wasn’t comfortable prescribing me spirlactone (which is what I was aiming for) without using BC even though I stated to her I am not sexually active currently and I don’t plan to be for a very long time. Anyways, I made an appointment with my obgyn and got on birth control pills, if you are curious to which one it’s called “Drospirenone” I haven’t started them yet because she told me to wait until the first Sunday during my period. But I have been consistently using the tret and the clindamycin every day for only a week and a half so far and I’ve already seen a lot of improvement. I don’t want to get too excited because I this is what happened the first time with tret, it was great the first week or two and then my skin started to purge. I’ve now been through the purging process 3 times. And it’s gonna be torture to go through it again but if it happens then it happens 🙏 Super nervous to start the birth control for the same reason but I can only be positive and hope for the best! My full routine currently is AM VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser clindamycin topical solution 1% (derm prescribed) LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30 *im switching to a higher spf PM VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream (the extra dry unscented version) OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream(derm prescribed) And sometimes I like to put another thin layer of moisturizer on top once the tret is absorbed to prevent irritation and dryness

Winter Skincare Routine for Sensitive Skin ❄️
Hey everyone! Figuring out a skincare routine that works for me and my skin has been quite a journey, especially in the colder winter months, so I wanted to share it with you! Just as a quick background, my skin is VERY sensitive and is combination, leaning toward the dry side in the winter. I can also be acne prone, but that is typically only when I am using products that don’t work well with my skin. AM Routine ☀️: VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser I have been LOVING this cleanser! I bought it a few months ago to replace my old favorite CeraVe Foaming Facial cleanser, because I figured out that my skin just can’t handle Niacinamide. This new cleanser has been great for my sensitive skin and cleans really well without being overly stripping! PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I have used this product for about a year now, and can say nothing but wonderful things! It has been a miracle product for me and has really smoothed out my skin texture. I use this exfoliant five times per week, highly recommend. The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% I used to use a Benzoyl Peroxide treatment for this step to treat acne, but I couldn’t deal with my clothes getting bleached anymore. I opted for this product instead and have been very pleased with the results: clear, bright skin! CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This moisturizer works SO well with my skin! I’ve been using it for years, and it has always provided the perfect amount of moisture and is never irritating! VERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream I started using this eye cream a few months ago, and have really liked it so far! It provides a great amount of moisture! KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 I just started using this spf after the whole Purito fiasco! So far, I love it! It has not caused me to break out, and it has not irritated my sensitive skin. It is also moisturizing and leaves a nice glowy skin finish. PM Routine 🌙: VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream I received a prescription from my dermatologist for a Tretinoin Cream, and I love it SO much! The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin VERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream #Rodan and Fields - Lash Boost[products]#[FourStars] This lash serum has made a noticeable change in my lashes. A bit irritating, but the results are worth it to me! CeraVe - Healing Ointment AMAZING moisturizing product to slather on at night, nothing but good things to say! I started using this product this fall. My skin has never felt more hydrated when I wake up in the morning! #sluglife

AHA and BHA
1/ WHY DO YOU NEED TO USE AHA? • Treatment of skin pigmentation, sun-damaged skin • Treat acne • Increases collagen production • Peel skin • Treatment of patients with Psoriasis (in some documents, I still see them clamping with Betamethasone 0.1% to treat Psoriasis) The big problem here is that depending on the platform of the product, it will be classified for the appropriate skin type. For example, a bottle of AHA with dry alcohol is usually more prone to acne-prone skin, rather than dry skin, then buy a bottle of dry alcohol based AHA and blame people that why AHA is "for dry skin". so? So unlucky stars! But I tell everyone, AHA is not inferior to BHA in terms of acne and pigmentation patches. 2 / WHY DO YOU USE BHA? • Treat acne, hidden acne • Cleans the pores • Reduces oil secretion on the skin • Anti-inflammatory The functions of BHA are more prone to acne skin, so most of them are used in the treatment of acne, inflammatory acne, hidden acne, ... to completely resolve that condition. In addition, when we add Niacinamide / Retinol, it is a divine pair, both reducing oil, better anti-inflammatory and bringing a marked improvement in skin pigmentation. Some product I recommend: OBAGI - Clenziderm M.D. Pore Therapy PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel Exfoliant Cos De BAHA - AHA Glycolic Acid 10% Serum With Witch Hazel Whitehead Power Liquid ALPHA-H - Liquid Gold Exfoliating Treatment with Glycolic Acid DON’T FORGET TO USE SUNSCREEN IN THE MORNING

Which one first?
Hi everyone! My skin type is combination of normal and hormonal spots on jowl and hyperpigmentation on forehead/temples My skin goal is to achieve brighter skin (isn’t everyone’s 🤪) and to have all round supple anti-aging skin! Iv always had a good skin care routine and work within the aesthetics and dermatology industry. Love trying new products and have been using the ordinary plant derived squalane for roughly a month now, I’m wanting to add in the niacinamide after much research and recommendations. I currently use dermalogica - Special Cleansing Gel Followed by OBAGI - Clenziderm M.D. Pore Therapy but iv Iv just ran of this and waiting on the clinic to get more... this toner is heaven for my spots down my jowl, I have a Pomeranian who licks my face whenever possible so this really cleaned the bacteria up which was given me spots! I then use The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane which has helped heaps with adding moisture back into my skin as it temporarily got very dry due to environmental factors Finished off with The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Iv just bought the COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essenceand waiting for that to arrive. I’m wanting to know at what point in my routine do I add in the The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%? Do I add this after my toner before my squalane serum? Once my snail mucin arrives that will be the first product after iv cleansed and toned I’m just unsure which serum I do first or whether it even matter? Any other advice is welcomed! I love trying new products and very rarely sticks to one product, I used to use DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample cleaner which was great I just like to bounce between products so currently on my dermalogica one iv used on and off for years. ❤️

Week 1
Sorry for the late response. Long story short I had a lot of personal/family issues throughout the week. Some nights I couldn’t do my usual skincare routine but still do every morning. Well enough about that stuff so after week 1, I don’t see much difference. Perhaps a little lighter but I also have been using other products I have not mentioned a long with basic spray on sunscreen to prevent further sun damage and wrinkles. Along with that Korean skin care routine it has been said (no cite sourced) that the oriental culture and their secret to youthful bright skin is because they are raised with using and live by sunscreen. Apparently the recommendation (still haven’t read the can) is that we should apply sunscreen every 2 hours that we are outside. We should even use it in the winter/all other seasons because we still get those UV rays. I did not know this! I thought one application and we’re good but nope! No wonder I still get tanned/sunburn after application in the past! So back on to the rest of the products! OBAGI - Exfoliating Polish - I still really love this product, I felt like this first week and 2 I have not used it as much as I liked. I have dry skin and with the other products that cause dryness (will explain later) I should have used it more. I have combination so when I have dry skin I use this product 2-3 times a week. On my “oily-er” days. I use it 1-2 times a week. I bet if I used this product more my milia/clogged pores would have diminished quicker. ZO SKIN HEALTH - Exfoliating Cleanser Normal Cleanser - I actually like this cleanser. I find it odd though, perhaps because I’m not used to having normalized skin lol, but afterwards my skin does not feel tight nor oily. This is by far the best cleanser I have used when it comes to my combination skin. However, I’m not sure if things will change during winter due to the fact that my skin is extra dry during cold weather but for the summer it seems to have my t-zone and other areas balanced. ZO SKIN HEALTH - Complexion Renewal Pads - er... I have brought down my rating due to the fact that I do not see any difference. I meant to get my vitamin-c brightener from Zein Obagi and accidentally got the wrong bundle but I tend to love all their products so I was willing to try. I see no difference in my skin and either this product or the Acne Control dried up my skin for the first week. I will not be getting this product again. Although, this may help with sensitivity and ph balance. Their other products tend to have multi-purpose (eye cream has retinol which also fights acne, milia, clogged pores, blackheads.) So I’m not too concerned about using this particular product. I rated it a 3-star because it did not break me out or cause any redness. ZO SKIN HEALTH - Daily Power Defense - I also lowered the ratings for this because you literally won’t see any(to be continued..)

My FAV morning routine
This is the BEST way to start my day. Simple, yet beautiful, morning routine. OBAGI - Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser | Amazing gentle cleanser!! Super nice, not stripping yet my skin always feels clean after using. Love to use up, lil bit too ‘spensive to repurchase for a cleanser (even with employee discount). JANMARINI - C-Esta Face Serum | A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!!! Vitamin C serum. Does beautiful things for my skin. It has helped keep my skin clear and look even since the first time that I used it. Though it is worth every penny (& again employee discount) it is very expensive. Almost makes me want to hate it, but I just can’t. No other vitamin c serum that I’ve used has even paled in comparison. (Yes she has a bit of fragrance, not too fond of it but it hasn’t bothered my skin at all) BOHEMIAN RÊVES - Hydrate Day Face Lotion | Oh. My. Lord. Favorite morning moisturizer! Light weight yet sooooooo hydrating. Beautiful and simple ingredients. I’ve gone through 8 of these, easily. Definitely check this out, the creator puts so much love into all of her products, all the ones I’ve tried I’ve loved and have become ride or dies. BOHEMIAN RÊVES - Ibiza Mineral Sunblock SPF 30+ | One of two facial SPFs that don’t break me out. It also has some argan oil in that make for an even more hydrated base. No visible white cast once blended in. (I either use this one or the JANMARINI - ANTIOXIDANT DAILY FACE PROTECTANT SPF 33 , also so amazing but not reef-safe unfortunately. & has some fragrance but hasn’t seemed to irritate my sensitive skin) Milk MAKEUP - KUSH Lip Glaze | Top it all off with a stunning lip balm. I use the clear shade ( well it’s actually green, but goes on clear lol). It’s amazing, super luscious on the lips. The metal tip applicator is a really nice cooling sensation for morning time.

Nighttime Routine - a little extra
Below is my night time routine. I work at a massage/esthetician clinic so I was able to get the higher priced items on majooorrr discount. There’s no way I would have purchased otherwise. Once I use up the majority of these items I will be switching back to more cost effective and just as great products. POND'S - Cold Cream Cleanser | Really, really good cold cream. I use this to break down my make up as a first cleanse. Works really well and really gentle on the eyes. Gave 4 stars because it leaves a slight film in my eyes, but a couple minutes and that’s not an issue. OBAGI - Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser | Great gentle cleanser. After using my skin feels squeaky clean and hydrated but not tight or too stripping in the slightest. Quite overpriced, but really good. Will use up. Won’t repurchase. PCA skin - Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum | Another amazing product that is very overpriced and I know for a fact that I can get something just as good with out the hefty price tag, I mean it’s just a hyaluronic acid for goodness sake. Will use up. Won’t repurchase. PCA skin - HydraLuxe Intensive Hydration Face Cream | Pretty good face cream, has a lot of amazing ingredients. Does amazing things for my skin, very hydrating and makes my skin feel like a baby’s bottom. Very very hefty price tag on this bad boy. Never got to buying the full-size. Ended up with two minis of it and I use it sparingly. Will absolutely use up. Won’t repurchase. DERMA•E - Hydrating Eye Cream | Great hydrating eye cream. I haven’t noticed that it does anything too special, but it makes it so that my under eyes don’t look crusty or nasty under concealer the next day. Finish up with LANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask or Treat Beauty Jumbo Lip Balm. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Family’s Favorite Beauty Products (oh no..)
Hey ya’ll! Today we’re talking about my family’s favorite beauty products! My grandma is super into high end beauty, but both my parents describe themselves as “creatures of habit” and aren’t that into it. However, they all have products they love. The way this will work is they’ll share their favorite products and why they like them, then I’ll give my opinions on them based on their ingredients. Mom: LAYRITE - Natural Matte Cream in Medium Hold: My Mom says it’s able to tame her frizzy hair, while also not requiring her to use a lot of it. My comment: I talked about this product in my Best of Haircare 2020 post on Cherie. This pomade is strongly targeted at men, as a great pomade for mess free styles. The ingredients don’t show much, it’s pretty standard. It has vanilla fragrance oils, which is okay for a hair product, and it has brazilian wax. OLAY - Complete UV365 Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 : My Mom says that her Mom used to use this when she was a kid, and my Mom started stealing it. She fell in love with it, and likes that it absorbs quickly while not being greasy, and that the smell reminds her of her Mom. This is ironic because I always steal this from my Mom. Who knows when the chain will stop? My comment: This one I’ve also talked about on Cherie in my Best of Skincare 2020 list. This is a really basic nourishing moisturizer, that’s great for beginners. It’s alchohol and frangrance free, and quite affordable. #Bobbi Brown - Lip Color[products]#[FourStars] : My Mom says she discovered this while shopping in early February 2020. She says it’s super soft, lasts a pretty long time, and that it’s more of a brown color than a true nude. My comment: This lipstick is imfamous for not layering well, but is great from an ingredient stand point. #Aveda - Smoothing Fluid Lotion[products]#[FiveStars] : My Mom says she’s been using this for about 15 years. It also helps with frizz, and brings her hair a lot of shine. My comment: The best way to describe this product is like a serum for your hair. It’s a bit oily on your fingers, and smells like pumpkin pie. It has fragrance, hence the smell, but again that’s okay in terms of haircare. It has a fusion of oils, which seem to be causing the oily texture, as well as the shine. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend this to people with oily hair. Other than that, I wish I could recommend it, but apparently Avenda discontinued this product :(. Dad: head & shoulders - Classic Clean Anti-Dandruff 2 in 1 Paraben Free Shampoo and Conditioner : My Dad says that he normally has bad dandruff, but this shampoo works to get rid of it. I think we can trust him on that, as he’s been using it for about 40 years. My comment: This product uses pyrithione zinc as it’s main dandruff fighting ingredient. Zinc can help prevent hair loss, clean your hair folicules, and reduce build up on your scalp. I wouldn’t reccomend this product because it contains large doses of both sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate. These are known skin irritants, which can cause severe reaction to those with sensitive skin. #Paco Rabbane - cologne[products]#[ThreeStars] : My Dad says he tried it because his uncle used it, and he’s been wearing it for 25 years now. My comment: you can’t say anything about a cologne, I mean it’s all about the fragrance. #Irish Spring - Bar Soap[products]#[ThreeStars] : My Dad says he likes the smell. My comment: my Dad is so old he hasn’t graduated to liquid soap yet. Some side notes, people on amazon say it’s a great pest and deer repellent, as well as a great deodent. Who knew bar soap had a bunch of different uses? Grandma: OBAGI - Nu-Derm Toner : My Grandma says that she likes how calming this toner is. My comment: I overall don’t like this product. First, witch hazel is the third ingredient in this toner. Witch hazel can be irritating and sesitizing, and it also needs alcohol in it to be stable. Alcohol is also irritating. This product also has fragrance, and when I smelled it I thought on cinnamon. OBAGI - Nu-Derm Foaming Gel : My Grandma says she likes to use this and the toner together. My comment: This product is really bad. First, it contains a large amount of Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which I already talked about. It also contains unnecessary extracts, fragrance, and 5 TYPES OF PARABENS!!!! Parabens are believed to mimic the hormone oestrogen. “Too much oestrogen can trigger an increase in breast cell division and growth of tumors, which is why parabens have been linked to breast cancer and reproductive issues.” According to Elle magazine and the Environmental Working Group. SKINCEUTICALS - A.G.E. Eye Complex for Dark Circles : My Grandma likes that this cream help diminish the appearance of her wrinkles. My comment: This product is okay. The ingredient list is fine, my only concern would be that it contains a pretty big amount of paraffins, which are known to clog pores. #skinmedica - the advanced serum[products]#[OneStar] : My Grandma says she LOVES this serum! She says it contains stem cell factors, and is really expensive but unbelievable. My comment: This product is really overpriced. It’s $295.00 for a 1 oz. bottle, and NOTHING on the ingredients list justifies the price. It claims to have anti aging complex’s, but if so, I can’t find them on the ingredients list. All I see is a list of cheap extracts, that are a form of fragrance even though they claim the product is fragrance free. Sorry Grandma, The Ordinary will give you better serums for $5. Save that $290 for something more important! Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion : My Grandma says this is a good, simple moisturizer thats well priced. My comment: This is a good product! It has glycerin which is hydrating, it’s not overpriced, and it’s fragrance free! That was a roller coaster, but that’s it for today! Make sure to cheer this post to spread the awareness that no matter how long you’ve been using a product it might not be good. Is Fragrance That Bad For Your Skin?
As many of you know, I’m extremely anti-fragrance, but recently I received a dm from @cate.steck on Instagram asking me how bad is fragrance really? She wanted the facts, and so I’m giving them to her. Let’s first talk about exactly what fragrance is in skincare and dive deeper into the different types of fragrance. When listing ingredients on labels, companies are required by the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) to list exactly what is in their product with the highest concentrations of ingredients at the top of the list. (Ex. If in a product the most amount of an ingredient is the fragrance, it’s at the top of the list.) But when you look at an ingredients list on a product like the one pictured above, you will find all fragrances just marked fragrance. This is an issue because people who are allergic to certain fragrance components can’t tell if that component is in the product they want to buy. Now moving on to the three main types of fragrances. The first type is Synthetic fragrance. The synthetic fragrance group mostly contains petrochemicals, phthalates, and benzene derivatives. Despite sounding very toxic, the main issue with these is irritation from the fragrance components. The second type is Natural fragrance. Natural fragrances are fragrances extracted from natural ingredients such as flowers or citrus fruits. Since these ingredients are not formulated to be in skincare, they are very unpredictable and can also cause irritation. The last main type is essential oils. Essential oils are generally listed separately from fragrance but they are a type of fragrance, meaning companies claiming their product is “fragrance free” while also stuffing it choke full of essential oils are just using loopholes. Essential oils are extracted from other natural components that are highly irritation and can cause severe allergic reactions. So by now I’m sure you’re caught on to the main issues with fragrance, but in case you missed them I’ll give you a refresher. You don’t know exactly what the fragrance is, it can be very irritating even to people with non-sensitive skin because it’s easy for your skin to hide it’s irritation, and it can cause severe allergic reactions. I personally find these reasons good enough to avoid fragranced products because the only thing they do is add a smell, and that really isn’t that important. Instead, you can light a scented candle or use a defuser to mask the smell of bad smelling products rather than giving yourself skin issues. Thank you for reading and make sure to give this post a cheer to make sure more people can get the information they need to achieve better skin. If you would like a shout out of your Cherie or Instagram handle, AND your beauty questions answered make sure to dm me @_sips_tea_ on Instagram or comment down below. -Naomi

P.M. Routine ✨
P.M. Routine ✨
After seeing a dermatologist, I have started using clindamycin gel in the AM and tretinoin cream in the PM for my persistent acne. I also have dry, sensitive skin so I am taking things slow. For two weeks I’ll be using the tretinoin cream every three days, then every other day for two more weeks, and then I will start using it every night as prescribed. Here is my P.M. routine! GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover This is the first component of double cleansing. I use this to remove my sunscreen. I gently wipe the product on using a fabric/reusable “cotton” pad. CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser This completes my double cleansing! It’s a gentle, creamy cleanser perfect for dry & sensitive skin. My derm highly recommended CeraVe products! I will keep repurchasing this product because I love it so much. PAULA'S CHOICE - Enriched Calming Toner This is a new addition to my routine, and I am already in love with it! I apply it using a reusable fabric pad. It leaves my skin feeling soft and less irritated. It’s a milky texture. PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum This is also a new addition to my routine. I like it, but I do not love it. I will be trying the Krave Great Barrier Relief serum when I’m out of this. CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream I absolutely love this stuff. It’s thick and perfect for dry, sensitive skin at the end of the day. It moisturizes and protects my skin. OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream This was prescribed by my dermatologist. I apply it after my night cream to help provide a barrier to decrease sensitivity. I use a pea-size amount and dot it onto my cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead before blending it in.

Did you know Obagi Clinical is
Did you know Obagi Clinical is now sold exclusively at Sephora ? This is different than their medical line. I’ve been using their prescription tretinoin for years and practically grew up on Obagi. My mom always had it when I was younger but we could only get it from the dermatologist. I use to use their hydroquinone mixed in with my tretinoin too help it work better. Well now they have this new CLINICAL line. They only have a few items available at Sephora right now but I’m pretty sure the whole line will be available soon. ⁣ ⁣ ⚡️ Kinetin + Complex⁣ Contains nature identical plant growth factors that support cell renewal & growth in plant cells (not demonstrated in human skin). It helps minimize the look of skin aging & rejuvenate the skin. ⁣ ⁣ ⚡️ Other featured ingredients:⁣ - arbutin ⁣ - retinol ⁣ - vitamin c ⁣ ⁣ Retails between $55-$95⁣ ⁣ 🐣 I am currently testing & using their hydrating eye cream at night & the brightening vitamin c eye cream in the mornings. I have tried everything else at least once with no irritation. Will update in the future! ⁣ ⁣ ⚡️ The sunscreen & vitamin c combo is a matte finish that oily or combination skin I think would love! If you have dry skin like me you may only like it in the summers. ⁣ ⁣ ⚡️ Obagi is results driven, dermatologist vetted, & lab based.⁣ ✔️ Cruelty Free (medical line is not) ⁣

Derm Prescribed Acne Treatments!
Derm Prescribed Acne Treatments!
I recently went to the dermatologist for my persistent acne, and she prescribed two topical products for me: clindamycin gel for A.M. and tretinoin cream for P.M.. With insurance, they cost $10 and $8.72 respectively. Since I have dry & sensitive skin already, I will be starting both slowly. I will use the clindamycin gel every other morning for 2-4 weeks, and then every morning as prescribed. For the tretinoin cream, I will apply it every 3 nights for two weeks, every other night for two weeks, and then every night as prescribed. So what are these products? How do you use them? And how long will it take to see results? Let’s explore- What is Clindamycin? Clindamycin is a type of antibiotic. It is used topically to treat acne. It works by slowing or stopping the growth of bacteria that cause acne and by decreasing swelling. It is available in a variety of preparations including gel, foam, lotion, etc. How do you use Clindamycin gel? Apply a pea-size amount to your face. I apply dots to my cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead before gently rubbing in the gel. I apply it after my serum and before my moisturizer. Make sure to wash your hands after applying the gel! What is Tretinoin? Tretinoin is also known as retinoic acid. It’s the generic name for synthetic vitamin A. It’s sold under many different brand names. Retin-A is one of those brand names, which shouldn’t be confused with retinol. Tretinoin is a prescription-strength topical cream or gel. It’s used mainly to treat acne, sun-damaged skin, and fine wrinkles. Tretinoin is able to speed up the life cycle of skin cells. It makes them divide faster and die faster, so newer, healthier cells can take their place. OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream How do you use Tretinoin? You also want to use a pea-size amount of this product. Again, I apply it in dots on my cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead before gently rubbing in the cream. I apply it at the end of my PM routine. You also want to wash your hands after applying this! How long will it take to see results? My dermatologist said that it will take approximately 6-8 weeks to start seeing results. I made a follow-up appointment in 2.5 months to monitor my progress and make as-needed adjustments!

Dark Spot/hyperpigment skin care routine- NIGHT
I’ve covered my day-time melasma skin routine here: https://t.cherie.com/7GsdHP/ and this is my night time routine after a day of being out and about: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser Very gentle cleanser. You really have to get those circular movements in on your face to get every corner because I think it is a little too gentle...but non-stripping. BIODERMA - Sensibio H2O Micellar water: set it into a cotton pad and wipe away. The perfect addition for removing anything left behind from the step prior. Sometimes the La Roche-Posay doesn’t get rid of all the makeup on my makeup-heavy days and this digs right it. I like this one because it’s for sensitive skin and soothes as well. However, it doesn’t remove my water-proof mascara so I use-Neutrogena - Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Ultra Eye Cream for Dry Skin Ultra-soothing! It’s a gel-cream rather than a thick lotion. It hydrates so well with a lightweight touch to it. Definitely recommend. 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 These next two products are specifically for my skin problems. I use one product one night and the other product the next night...never together. Words of caution: they left my skin pretty red for a few weeks but apparently, this is usual. Also, once I startd applying these, my Derm stressed the importance of sunblock even more and how reapplying is just as important. Advaita - Leneda Gel This is a silky sort of translucent thick “gel” if that makes any sense...very similar to the bare mineral primer texture. It was prescribed for pores on my my nose + surrounding areas but I am not sure if it had anything to do with clearing hyperpigmentation from the skin. OBAGI - Nu-Derm Blend Fx This is probably the harshest one of them all with Hydroquinine being its active ingredient (apparently it’s the gold standard for melasma treatment). It’s just a light cream and I apply it on my forehead, nose, + surrounding areas since my hyperpigmentation is concentrated there. I was told me not to apply it on my upper lips. It never irritated me nor did it cause itching but the next day, the areas where I applied it were red. Kinda looked like a sunburn. ...i wash my night products off the next morning and get on to my morning skin care routine. Ive been doing my morning and night skin routine for a total of 3 months but I have seen improvements in my skin. I’ve also made sure to constantly reapply sunblock (elta md SKINCARE - UV Physical Broad-Spectrum SPF 41 ) and wear a hat when I go out. I’ve always been a ☀️ sun lover ☀️ but never wore sunblock up until 2 years ago. I think a mixture of that w genetics and other things have spiked up the melanin in my cells and enlarged those pores. Now, I’m extra careful when I’m out and going throughout the day.
