Worth it? Smashbox Primer
I’ve had this deluxe size sample of this smashbox smooth & blur primer for a while now and I’ve been trying to use it up this year. I’ve been using it pretty much every time I do my makeup. I only use it on my T-zone and under my eyes to smooth lines and pores. I’ve decided that I do like this primer over some of the others I own, it does a good job of blurring my pores, but I don’t think I would purchase a full size. I don’t think it does anything spectacular to justify spending $37 on a primer. I enjoy the elf poreless putty primer and the ordinary silicone primer just as much and they are much cheaper. smashbox - Photo Finish Foundation Primer

Empty product- not repurchasing!
I purchased a travel size of the smashbox - Photo Finish Foundation Primer a few months ago to see how it wears before buying a full size. I was looking to find a good blurring but still hydrating primer for my Freelancing kit, and had heard that smashbox primers were pretty good. I found this primer to be so average. I didn’t notice any major “blurring effects” on my skin and didn’t really notice any positive difference to my makeup (both appearances and longevity wise). I have used other blurring primers in the past which have definitely blurred and smoothed out my skin, so this was a complete disappointment to me. I finished the product to be able to get a full review of it but had many days were I would much rather used better primes. Would not recommend spending your money on this product!!

Good skincare for life.
I’ve been obsessed with skincare and makeup since I was a little girl. I made my own masks, I religiously cleansed my face day and night once I started wearing makeup and I used treatment products and moisturizers long before I needed them - that is key! Start a skincare routine as early as you can. If you think your skin is perfect and doesn’t need anything, think about the decades coming! Start now! Here’s the thing- skincare (and makeup) don’t have to be complicated or expensive. I regularly blend drugstore products with high end products. Honestly, many of the drugstore products turn out to be my favorites. Full disclosure, I use a crap ton of skincare products and I change up my routine as needed. I rarely put on a full face of makeup but I do wear some makeup 5-6 days of the week because it makes me feel pulled together and I like how it looks. No apologies necessary for daily make up wearers- do what makes you feel good! No shame in self care, ever! Today felt like a full-face-of-makeup day for some reason, so I had some fun and put it all on. Here are some of my fave products and what I used today: 1. Day old hair with Toni & Guy matte hair powder. 2. Cleanse face with CLARISMA - Malibu Blush Exfoliating Scrub - the enzymes in this cleanser keep my face smooth and glowing. Follow with some quick swipes of pixi - Glow Tonic allow to dry then mix one dropThe Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - Matrixyl* 10% + HA , half pumpCLARISMA - Cali Dreaming Cream Daily Moisturizer massage in and appy a dab of Roots Sensitive Eye Cream to eyes. When my face is dry I apply a layer of DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 . 3. Prime my oily skin with smashbox - Photo Finish Foundation Primer Super Light , one little drop each LANCÔME - Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear Foundation and SHISEIDO - Perfect Refining Foundation SPF 15 MAYBELLINE - Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer for under eyes, e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer (just discovered this!), UNDONE BEAUTY - LIP TO CHEEK 3-IN-1 CREAM PALETTE , tiny bit of bareMinerals - Mineral Veil Setting Powder Broad Spectrum SPF 25 on t-zone, SHISEIDO - Shiseido Eyelash Curler COVERGIRL - Total Tease Waterproof Mascara NYX - Eyebrow Cake Powder , Rimmel grey eyeliner, a few pats bh - Illuminating in Ireland 6 Color Highlight Palette Sephora chunky crayon brow enhancer, florence by mills - Limited Edition Get Glossed Lip Gloss Duo . Last, I like to spray a couple spritzes of HERBIVORE - Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Mist to get a satin look. This seems like a lot, but it takes maybe 6-8 minutes. I apply my foundation, concealer, cream blush and eye shadow by hand. Always have, always will. My skin isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty good and I owe it to taking care of my skin for more than 30 years. Unfortunately, I grew up in an era we didn’t talk about sunscreen and sun damage. I baked in the sun and eeeeek, tanning beds. Surprisingly, my skin isn’t horrible but I definitely see the damage. I’m currently working on undoing some of that damage. Morale of the story, take care of your skin and enjoy the process. I do!

Flawless but Not Fake: 3 Key Steps in My Summer Foundation Routine
It can be a real struggle in summer for many of us to not only create a perfect base makeup, but also to make it set and stay. I have sensitive, dry skin and there is always some redness to cover on my face. As a believer of “less is more”, I like to create a naturally flawless look with a few products in the easiest way possible. Here are my tips.   Make the best use of your setting spray!  Most of us understand that setting spray is  indispensable at the end the makeup routine, but I’d like to make it do a bit more work. Besides using it after the makeup is complete, I apply the smashbox - Photo Finish Primer Water as a prepping step. The lightweight, fine water mist gently soothes and refreshes my skin, and I wait until it’s 80% dry before I apply foundation. This way, with an instant boost of hydration, the following makeup products set better on my face and can stay intact up to 12 hours, which is important in summer.   Be gentle with your foundation!  When it comes to foundation, it’s never the more, the better. Rather it’s all about choosing the right product and not using it in excess - don’t expect your foundation to work as a concealer! My all-time favourite foundation is Estée Lauder Futurist Aqua Brilliance Makeup #1C0 Cool Porcelain. Its lightweight, semi-fluid texture provides medium to full coverage. It also has SPF 20/PA+++ so is suitable for summer. I like to apply it with a makeup sponge damped with water or setting spray - a thin layer is enough - and then gently pat it in all over my face. I pay greater attention to press the foundation in around my mouth and nose, which tend to become a bit oily over the day. Now, it leaves the skin a dewy, luminous finish. It’s so dry-skin friendly that my face is kept hydrated, and glows even more late in the day as the foundation blends with a bit of oil.   Let your concealer do its job!  Foundation is really just for evening out your skin tone. It’s your concealer’s job to cover and mask the imperfections on your face. I tent to use high-coverage concealers but just in a tiny amount, so that the pigmentations and blemishes can be covered without the skin looking fake. The concealer I use is NARS - Radiant Creamy Concealer#Chantilly. The colour suits my skin tone well, and I like its creamy texture, whose density provides the coverage that I need but isn’t too heavy. Now, another tip is when covering under-eye dark circles, try to do it in an up-and-down motion, as opposed to moving horizontally as it will make creases in that area more obvious. Again, the Nars concealer is suitable for the thin and delicate under-eye area as it can spread smoothly and evenly.   Makeup can give us a boost of confidence but real glow always comes from the inside. Give these tips a try and see how naturally beautiful your skin can be!

Comparing five primers, which one's the best?
Embryolisse Filaderme Emulsion, Nourishing Repair Care Embryolisse - Filaderme Emulsion It has a milky white facial cream texture, and it's not greasy but it does ball up a little. I used the Embryolisse Filaderme Emulsion, Nourishing Repair Care, which didn't change my skin tone but kept my makeup on for longer. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer #HOURGLASS - Veil Mineral Primer[products]#[ThreeStars] This is not suitable for dry skin due to its oily satin finish. It makes your skin tone fairer but it's a bit dry, so I'll usually use it in combination with a bit of serum. Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primer Hydrating laura mercier - Hydrating Pure Canvas Primer I also choose the hydrating version for this primer. I think it's more moisturizing than Embryolisse and it doesn't ball up. It's moisturizing like the facial cream, and it's very affordable. I highly recommend it! Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water and Weightless Setting Spray smashbox - Photo Finish Primer Watersmashbox - Photo Finish Longwear Makeup Setting Spray Weightless This is a primer water and setting spray set which works really well. The travel-size packaging is very convenient for traveling. Guerlain L'Or Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold Makeup Base GUERLAIN - L'Or Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold I like the texture with its gold flakes. It's also quite moisturizing and I recommend it for dry skin.

SMASHBOX Hydrating 15 hour foundation
✨What are the claims? It’s a comfortable, natural-matte, long wearing, liquid foundation that hydrated & won’t settle in your fine lines, oxidize or transfer for up to 24 hours- 15 hours guaranteed. •It is for all skin types, and it’s a natural finish foundation. It has medium- full coverage. ✨Key ingredients; •hyaluronic acid- 💧to nourish & hydrate the skin •vitamin E - 🤍 to soothe & condition the skin. ✨Texture/consistency? It’s a medium- weight liquid. It’s in between liquid & slightly cream. ✨My thoughts? I’ve loved this foundation for as long as I can remember! It’s great on clients, it lasts long & stays in place. It isn’t oily or greasy, and it isn’t too drying where it dries out your skin. My clients always rave about how flawless & nice their skin looks & this is my secret! It’s medium- full coverage is buildable so it’s easy to get exactly how much coverage I want from it for each person! They come in a variety of different shades & they are great for all skin types. The glass bottle is nice & sturdy & it has a pump on the bottle which is nice. I believe this last 15-18 hours, and is matte. I really enjoy this product & so do my clients! ✨Price Vs. Size? It is $36 for 1oz & that’s pretty standard for high end foundations so it’s worth it! I love using these in my kit, and would recommend to any other makeup lovers out there! ❤️ smashbox - Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation

Best Makeup for my Skin Tone
This is one my favorite go to foundations. I have always been a big fan of the brand and love their primers. I gave this foundation a try because of its claims of being very long lasting and hydrating. My skin tone is very fair with a pink/warm undertone. It definitely lives up to the expectations of being long lasting. My face still looks fresh by the end of the day. It’s very hard for me to find foundations that really go well with my skin tone but this one does an amazing job. I will definitely repurchase again and again. smashbox - Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation

my base makeup products for hot summer days🌞
1.smashbox photo finish primerizer smashbox - Photo Finish Primerizer The texture is similar to that of lotion. I have to say, it is sticky. It's more suitable for dry skin. 2.NARS Natural Radiant Long Wear Foundation NARS - Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation scent:★★★☆   hydrating:★★★★  oil control:★★★☆   coverage:★★★★  my thoughts:It's won't let your face feel dehydrated as long as you use skincare products before applying this. But without setting powder or setting spraying, it may be a little bit sticky and greasy. It's between medium to high vocerage.✨ 3.L.A. GIRL HD Pro.Conceal #Medium Bisque L.A. Girl - HD Pro Concealer The texture is creamy and liquidy, very easy to blend. The brush is designed very convenient to use. 👍 4.KKW BRIGHTENING POWDER #1 KKW BEAUTY - Brightening Powder You can tell by the name that the powder is use to brighten the skin.✨ Mine is #1, the shade is very light. I only use it to brighten my under eyes area. 5.Charlotte Tilbury flawless finish micro powder#1 Fair Charlotte Tilbury - Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder This setting powder creates a matte finish which I LOVE!😍 It seems 100% natural like there's no-makeup. The coverage is medium.   6.wet n wild highlighting powder #321B wet n wild - MegaGlo Highlighting Powder I bought this few years ago. I thought the shade is too dar for me but now I just love it! The texture is soft, not that powdery.

SLAY at home ✨💄🏠
The way I slay at home is with a bold, exaggerated cut crease with a neon ombre and custom false lashes. I have included a list of ALL the products featured in this makeup look, however, I will be focusing more on the eyes, and how I achieve this look. Firstly, priming the eye before shadow application is great. For this, I use the Revolution Conceal & Define full coverage foundation in F11 to create a lighter base for my whole eye. After I have seat that, I begin with the B Perfect Cosmetics Carnival III palette using the color Reef first to create the overall shape of where I want my crease. When I’m comfortable with that, I go in and deepen the crease with a smaller brush blending both Lagoon and The Deep. One thing that I truly love most about this palette is the SATURATION of the colors, as a dark-complected individual, I find it nice knowing that I don’t have to use a lot of product to achieve a bold and impactful eyeshadow application. Once I have achieved that, I go in with a clean flat brush and apply the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer in Whiteout to Prime the lid, and create a clean crease. I like this product a lot because it is REALLY white, and dries very fast with a nice matte finish. Once that is dry I layer in a bit more of Reef, and Lagoon, blending them outward. I then add the Give Face Cosmetics poly pigment in neon green blending outward away from the inner corner of the eye to create a nice ombre. I then further define the crease by taking my Nyx Epic Ink liquid liner in black and trace the outward line of my cut crease to make it even sharper. Starting above the center of the iris and working out. I then take the Nyx Epic Ink liquid liner in white, and trace the outer corner of the crease starting at the inner corner of the eye, and pulling it back until it meets the black liner. I finished that with a sharp black winged liner using the Nyx Cosmetics Epic ink liner in black, apply my YSL mascara in black, and then top it off with custom-built lashes. Studio Skin 24hr Hydra Foundation
Like my pjs? Haha! So this is first off not my color. In cheap Walmart foundation brands I’m the fairest of the fair. In professional brand foundation I am leaning towards light with neutral undertones? I would know yet. Due to covid19 testers are unavailable-I picked a bad time to start paying top dollar huh? So first I figured out my undertones. I’m definitely neutral when my cheeks aren’t all irritated. But even then most of my face had equals of both warm and cool tones. Then I figured if I’m so pale super fair would be the right shade... NO. Not even close... so then I returned it and got normal fair... I looked like a geisha my mom said and honestly I was thinking the same thing. So tonight I’m buying a different brand and getting the shade light because I’ve lost interest in smash box with its very small options in make up especially eye shadows (none of them work for me. There’s like 3 palette options and none are my colors). But I figure I should review the product anyways. This make up definitely won’t wear off all day or night. I had to wash my face 3 times and wipe it so hard to get it off so if you don’t want to go through that this probably isn’t for you but if you don’t mind going to bed with it on you’ll or you feel the work is worth it then go for it. It does oxidize so take that into account when picking your skin tone. The foundation will hydrate your skin with wear making it soft and radiant. I’d say the coverage with this product is medium though with good layering you could make it full. I used smashbox because my family has this tradition where an aunt takes their niece to get a make over and spends a lot of money doing so for their 13th bday. This was the brand she taught me about. Her aunt did the same for her when she was 13. I was a tomboy myself probably because of being autistic so I really didn’t enjoy the make up but I enjoyed the bonding. So smashbox was the only brand other than Mac i knew and my local Ulta doesn’t carry Mac in store for some reason.

I looove my Pearl Tint Primer 💕
IPKN - Radiant Cream Primer SPF 15 As you guys know- my face breaks out with a lot of products but I found my holy grail primer! I have been using this for maybe 2 years now and I love it. I use it throughout the whole year. It is hydrating and I wear it with or without foundation. I love the beautiful pearl tint! It makes my skin glowy and healthy looking , especially when I don’t wear foundation during the week! It does not break out my acne- prone skin. I took pictures without foundation to show you the glowy look. smashbox - Photo Finish Oil & Shine Control Matte Primer and smashbox - Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer These primers are not good for my oily, combination acne prone skin type. They look nice and definitely blur and minimize the pores on my cheeks and forehead. I noticed they dried out my skin and caused breakouts. Seems like my oily skin likes hydrating products 😆

IL MAKIAGE — worth the hype??
Who else is getting this ad pop up on their feed?! 🙋🏼‍♀️ Well, guess what!! I caved!! LOL! Here’s my first impression: IL MAKIAGE - WOKE UP LIKE THIS $44 ($5 trial price. If you like it, you keep it and the full price gets charged onto your card. If you don’t, send it back and that’s that!) Pros: 🥳 Hydrating, natural finish 🥳 They got my shade right (though I was highly, HIGHLY doubtful they would because the quiz was so lame, lol) 🥳 This beautiful B HAS A PUMP!! 🥳 This blended out soooo seamlessly 🥳 Buildable coverage* Cons: 🤔 Medium coverage (which I honestly prefer, but could be a con for some of y’all) 🤔 *So I’m not one to aim for full coverage, but I attempted to apply a little more product on my discoloration and current breakout and the foundation separated where I attempted this. Something to keep in mind 🤔 The price! I’m not a big fan of foundations or make up to be over $15 lol but maybe this isn’t a con for y’all 🤷🏼‍♀️ Just to clarify, this is a first impression. Will update down below. 😁 Xoxo Xenia On my face: Primer: L'ORÉAL - Infallible Pro Glow Lock Primer Works well for the most part. Ingredient alert: dimethicone! Holds the make up in place, but takes a while to set... or maybe it’s just my skin rejecting this B? Concealer: smashbox - Studio Skin Flawless 24 Hour Concealer Goes on and blends flawlessly... then creases. I’ve tried applying extra moisturizer/eye cream; I’ve tried baking; I’ve tried just setting it with powder; I’ve tried not setting it. I’m open to suggestions. 🥺 Blush: MILANI - MILANI Baked Blush Beautiful, pigmented... still trying to figure out how to apply the right amount if you can’t tell. Lol y’all makin’ me blush to👏🏼day👏🏼!! ☺️😂 Highlight: MAYBELLINE - FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter Love! Though super glittery. 😬 Eyeshadow: tarte - Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette Applies and blends out nice. Dark shades aren’t so dark. Glitters are beautiful! Mascara: L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Lash Primer Definitely helps make my lashes look longer and thicker prior to mascara application! I just dislike an extra step. Lol L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara Love this!! Lashes multiply, thicken, and lengthen! Buttt, the formula is too wet and my lashes lose its curl. (FYI: I have long, straight lashes and need to curl prior to application.) Brows: ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Dipbrow Pomade FAVE!! Eyeliner: IL MAKIAGE - Inkliner Nothing special here... felt tip liner that applies patchy and smudges when I smile. Typical for me with how my eyes work. Lips: it Cosmetics - Vitality Lip Flush in Reviver Lipstick Stain FAVE! e.l.f. - Lip Plumping Gloss Not the best, doesn’t necessarily plump. But I personally like it! Love the cooling affect.

Battle of the Concealers
Last week, I rated the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer and today I decided to compare it to the Smashbox Studio Finish Flawless Concealer I received a few days later. The Maybelline retails for $10 and the Smashbox is $26 at Ulta, though I paid $16 from Zulily.. Both are medium coverage, buildable concealers. The Maybelline has a better applicator and is easier to apply just the right amount, which you can see in the second picture. (Maybelline right, Smashbox left) Both concealers are a good weight for aging skin and don’t settle into fine lines. However, once everything is blended in, Smashbox is the clear winner. It covers my dark circles much better. That’s not to say the Maybelline is a bad product. I will probably still purchase if I am at the drugstore and need to pick up a concealer.

Holy Grails for Combo Skin
Holy Grails for Combo Skin
My skin type is combination-oily laura mercier - Oil-Free Foundation Primer This one is my favorite. It is both colorless and oil-free, perfect for people with oily skin. Shake it well before use to mix the product well. smashbox - Photo Finish Foundation Primer Super Light This product is transparent and mattifies the face when applied. It blends very well but feels a bit heavy on my face and it doesn't smell nice. However, my makeup did last a long time after applying this beforehand. #HOURGLASS - Veil Mineral Primer[products]#[ThreeStars] It feels like a silicone-based product, leaving a filmy skin texture when used. However, it really brightens up my complexion. Don't try if you mind that one of the ingredients is silicone.

✨ Smashbox Full Exposure Palette
✨I purchased this palette from Smashbox a year ago, because I wanted something that has neutral mattes and shimmer. I really like the matte eyeshadows in this palette, but the shimmers didn’t meet my expectations. They are very powdery and go all over the place and not very pigmented either. So I just use the shimmer sometimes for everyday use. The only way I can wear the shimmer properly is by spraying setting spray on my eyeshadow brush and then applying the shimmer. That way it stays well and looks more pigmented. - - - - #smashboxcosmetics#smashboxfullexposure#smashboxfullexposurepalette#smashbox#makeupreview#makeup#cosmetics#beauty#blogger#makeupideas#makeuppalette#makeupproducts#makeupblogger

Some of my favorite lipsticks ☺️
Some of my favorite lipsticks ☺️
I swatched almost all the colors I own. One of the hardest things for me has been finding lipstick shades I like. I’m very fair skinned with mostly neutral undertones. Maybe leaning a bit cooler at times. So here are the colors: #1 NYX - Butter Gloss in Creme Brûlée. I love this gloss. It is so smooth and not sticky. It smells good and I feel like it hydrated and slightly plumps which is nice. #2 NYX - Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Tea & Cookies. This color is not as flattering on me but the lipstick is nice. Doesn’t last as long as some other lipsticks I’ve used but it’s pretty. #3 stila - Stay All Day Sheer Liquid Lipstick in Patina. It is one of my absolute faves! The color lasts forever and it’s soooo flattering. I’ve seen it on a bunch of different skin tones as well and I think it looks good on everyone. #4 FENTY BEAUTY - Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in Spanked. I like the way it feels. It’s non drying. The color is different than I expected but it still looks good. #5 Beauty Bakerie - Matte Lip Whip in Versailles. This was my biggest disappointment color wise. I was hoping for something more like the Patina shade and it is very brown on me unfortunately. As for the lipstick itself, it lasts by far the longest of the others. I want to try another few colors soon. (I’ve also tried Rosé Posé and it was also much darker than I expected.) #6 & #8 Glossier. - Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick in Crush(6) and Like(8). I also wear jam most days. It’s lovely. It’s very sheer but buildable. I like to use these to achieve a more natural look. #7 smashbox - Be Legendary Cream Lipstick in Fig. I love this dark wine-ish color. It is very hydrating and last awhile

Ive used this as a primer before foundation and as a setting spray, and both ways are good. The coconut smell can be better but the original smells pretty nice on its own. The coconut spray was ok, not good enough for me to repurchase, although I believe this scent was limited edition.
