New Body Care Must Haves ❄️
During the fall/winter months is when you prep for the spring/summer months. Any “insecurity” or “problem area” you want to tackle on your body is best done now. Why? Unless you live somewhere warm year round, you’re probably bundled up and in the house more. Giving you that layer of protection from the sun and climate, why not start now? My focus areas for these products: Arms/legs Boobs Underarms Hyperpigmentation (L👉🏾R) DERMAdoctor - KP Duty Lotion Oooh y’all! Okay so I don’t have really bad KP (“Keratosis pilaris”), yet I love the benefits. Ingredients: Glycolic + Lactic Acids- Powerful AHAs that work as chemical exfoliants to reveal smoother, softer, more radiant skin Ceramides- Work to prevent excessive water loss due to evaporation and maintain a healthy skin barrier. Urea- Humectant Gluconolactone- Anti-aging antioxidant benefits and is a mega-moisturizing humectant able to hold 4x its weight in water compared to hyaluronic acid Squalane- Restorative , healing, Cupuacu Seed Butter- packed with essential fatty acids to protect and moisturize skin and polyphenols to combat free radical damage Anti Redness Complex- Composed of White Tea, Licorice, Boswellia Serrata + Superoxide Dismutase - works to minimize the appearance of redness at the base of affected hair follicles, erasing “polka dot” skin. Willow Bark- Natural BHA with a molecular size smaller than AHAs able to more easily penetrate hair follicles and oil glands and chemically exfoliate debris. With that all star ingredient list whew! Just be sure to wear your sunscreen ! This is on sale at Ulta ($19) retails ($38) TRULY - Acai Your Boobies Lifting Boob Serum A boob lift in a serum? Ingredients: Retinol- Helps hyperpigmentation, boob/chest acne, minimizes wrinkles and fine lines, and boost collagen! Like what doesn’t this do? Açaí- Antioxidant rich berry extract that helps keep skin glowing and hydrated. Okay I was super skeptical about this product! After having my son I miss my old girls. So I started doing boob lifting exercises and using this serum! If you look up Sanne Vander on YT work outs to make this effective! I got this from Ulta for $28 meow meow tweet - Lavender Baking Soda Free Deodorant Cream So natural skin care is starting to become my thing again! I did a post about why you should switch to aluminum free deo (🔍 dupe for native). So when I ran across this beauty I was tempted! This brand is: vegan clean organic Ingredients: Lavender: antibacterial Tea Tree Oil : antibacterial Arrow Root: alternative to talc ! Shea Butter: amazing moisturizer! The ingredients are literally this few and only organic 😍 My favorite thing about this deo is you rub it on like a body lotion under your pits! The smell is amazing and light! It’s on sale @ Ulta $7 ( I just bought 2 more) retails $14 What’s your current body routine ? ✨✨

Skin Concerns: Bumpy Skin
I have suffered from Keratosis Pilaris (KP) for many years, but I did not know what it was until recently. It is essentially a condition that makes your hair follicles on certain parts of your body get clogged with keratin. Therefore, I constantly have little bumps all over the front and back of my thighs. It is noticeable and causes me to constantly pick at my legs, so I knew I had to find something to combat it! The main thing most people (and my dermatologist) recommend is putting on a lotion that contains leave-on exfoliants that clear your pores of the keratin plugs. I have tried a few over the years, and these are my favorites! For a cost-effective option I would definitely go with the Gold Bond Rough & Bumpy Skin Lotion. It works very well and comes in a huge tub! Now, all of these lotions are pretty thick to apply, but this one is probably the thickest and the one that absorbs the worst. But, it is so much cheaper than the other options so I definitely still recommend it. The other two are a little thinner, but are about 5x more expensive than the Gold Bond (~$50). They both work very well as well! The key with these types of products is to use them consistently. If you just use it once a week it is not going to have the best results, you need to use it over time to see the bumps disappear!

How to Get Rid of Blackheads: Best Ingredients to Look For!
Blackheads are a skincare occurrence that most of us struggle with, whether you have oily skin or not. Before knowing what ingredients to use to get rid of them, what you need to do is understand what blackheads are in the first place.  What is a blackhead? Blackheads are one of the most common forms of acne. Our pores sometimes get congested with dead skin and sebum. When this gunk comes in contact with the air, it gets oxidised, and turns black, and hence is called a blackhead. While some people are genetically prone to blackheads, and those with oily skin tend to have more, they can also occur due to hormonal changes (like puberty or starting a new hormonal birth control) or from wearing heavy makeup.  Dermatologist-approved Ingredients for blackheads “The good news is that there is a cornucopia of over-the-counter products that contain effective ingredients to exfoliate, soften, and even remove blackheads,” says Allison Britt Kimmins, MD, MPH. Here I did some research about dermatologists to get the lowdown on which ingredients fight them best and some products recommendations. Salicylic acid Salicylic acid, found in many acne products, is a longtime skincare staple for its ability to unclog pores by cleaning out enlarged follicles that fill with sebum and become blackheads.  Because the ingredient can irritate the skin if used too much, it’s best to use it as a targeted treatment instead of all over your face or body. Many people may be sensitive to salicylic acid and be able to use it more than once every few days. If you continue to react to it, discontinue use. Try:PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel Exfoliant This Paula’s Choice product has long been a cult-favourite salicylic acid exfoliator. The lightweight formulation absorbs quickly and is formulated at the optimal pH of 3.2 to 3.8 for maximum efficacy. Green tea extract is also present to provide calming and antioxidative properties. Glycolic acid An alpha hydroxy acid derived from sugarcane, gives blackhead-prone skin a fresh start. It goes to work by exfoliating the top skin layer and cleaning out clogged follicles. The benefits of this gentle acid are twofold. By dissolving the upper skin layer, it also triggers the skin cells to repair themselves—therefore creating more collagen. Try:exuviance - Pore Clarifying Cleanser It is soap-free formula and contains AHAs, PHAs, BHAs, suitable for oily and acne-prone skin. Azelaic acid "Azelaic acid is a dicarboxylic acid that helps exfoliate the skin and is synthesized by yeast naturally,"says NYC-based dermatologists Gervaise Gerstner,  MD. It is a multifunctional skincare ingredient that targets blackheads and can also lighten the brown discolouration caused by acne. Try: DERMAdoctor - Photodynamic Therapy Age Spot Eraser & Skin Brightener A revolutionary brightening face treatment Developed with awardwinning, antiaging red light technology Formulated with hydroquinonefree botanical boosters Helps even skin discoloration. Benzoyl Peroxide Like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide works as a keratolytic agent, which means it’s able to break down and loosen the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and down in the pores. In addition to cleaning out pores, benzoyl peroxide fights the bacteria that lead to breakouts. Try:Clean&Clear - Persa-Gel 10 Acne Medication Spot Treatment It can be drying, however, and harsh on sensitive complexions. Spot treat on a small patch of skin first to make sure you don’t react. Witch Hazel Witch hazel, which naturally soothes blackhead-prone skin with anti-inflammatory properties, appears most commonly in toners. If your regimen begins with toner, pass on the drying alcohol–based formulas and opt for water-based products.  Try:THAYERS - Witch Hazel Blemish Clearing Toner A fan-favorite and easily one of the most well-known witch hazel-containing products, this toner is recommended by Zeichner and also contains rose petal water and aloe to help hydrate and calm the skin. "It's important to eliminate oil, scale, salt, and possibly makeup after a workout to prevent these materials from congealing in pores," explains Craig Kraffert, MD, president of Amarte Skin Care. Noted that cleansing with a gentle cleanser (or a mild exfoliant) is best. Although some people may see a dermatologist for their blackheads, and there are also in-office treatments that can help, it’s really worth trying some skincare products with ingredients that can help us get rid of blackheads! Testing my minis
So I got a lot of mini products from Ulta for buying “x” amount of stuff you get free samples. I tried them out and here’s what I think... Jack Black - Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 this lip balm is on of my favorites, when I have extra dry or chapped lips this stuff helps moisturize and repair my lips. OUAI - OUAI Body Cleanser I really like this body cleanser because when I use it I feel clean and refreshed, my skin looks cleaner and brighter. boscia - Cactus Water Moisturizer I like this moisturizer because it smells good, it’s thin, and has a nice consistency to it. It makes my face a little shiny almost sticky looking but other than that this is a pretty good moisturizer. CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin I love cerave, I love a good majority of their products. I like this moisturizer but it is a little on the thicker side and I usually like thinner moisturizers. It does it’s job and doesn’t make me breakout. exuviance - Overnight Transformation Complex I love the smell of this product, it smells fresh. It has a nice consistency. The issue I have is that it made me breakout the first time I used it. DERMAdoctor - Lucky Bamboo Probiotic Fermented Wasabi Pressed Serum this product has an odd thick consistency and it’s milky white in color. To me it doesn’t have much of a smell at all. It’s weird to me because I’ve only seen serums that are clear or transparent but this product is very opaque. It made my face feel really odd and sticky. Murad - Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture I didn’t use this product on my face only because the smell was so awful and the color was very displeasing. It smells stale and kind of waxy. The color is like a bees wax yellow. It feels oily when I put some in my fingers.

Dermalogica Microfoliant, my H
Dermalogica Microfoliant, my Holy Grail product. I struggle with hormonal cystic acne. Yes, hormonal so these nasty belts of cystic acne hit me any day, any time of the month. I never had acne growing up, except for the occasional little zit when Mother Nature hit me once a month. After the loss of my father at 25 I started getting cystic acne. I tried everything! Been to numerous dermatologists, tried prescription meds. To no avail it’s been trial and error in the beauty world. From skincare to makeup, I still struggle finding the right product. Due to this I have to be very picky about what I put on my face. Especially Moisturizers, Oils, and face serums. I used to use Saint Ives aprocot Scrub. I would lather it on my face thinking I was making a difference until I got educated on skincare. This Dermalogica Microfoliant is not so much a physical scrub but designed to erase dead skin cells thanks to the key player in the product papian(the enzyme found in papaya) and salicylic acid. Together, this duo loosens and removes the top layer of skin exposing the shinny new stuff underneath. Sounds great right? Except most people who use it rub it in for 10-15 seconds. If you use this correctly massaging into the skin for at least a full minute it is a miracle worker!!! It’s made my skin clearer, brighter, and smoother, basically everything you want! It is a daily microfoliant so it won’t do your skin any harm to use it daily. If you haven’t tried this miracle worker, I hope you get a chance to soon.

AHA Lotions for Keratosis Pilaris
AHA Lotions for Keratosis Pilaris
Both of these lotions are targeted for people with keratosis pilaris (KP). This is a skin condition where excess keratin plugs your pores and creates little bumps. This is a condition I have had on my thighs for many years, but I only recently learned about what it was! One of the main things recommended for KP are lotions that contain ingredients to gently exfoliate the skin, which in turn helps to unclog the pores. One of the main ingredients used in these types of lotions is AHA (alpha hydroxy acids), which is the main ingredient in both of these lotions. These are both at similar price points, around $50. The SkinFix cream is thicker than the KP Duty lotion, which is more of the consistency of an everyday lotion. I have used them both consistently and really did see results with both! The key for these types of lotions is that you really do have to use them consistently to see results.I typically would only apply the SkinFix cream at night before getting into my pajamas so that it had time to soak in overnight. The KP duty lotion is better for everyday, so this is the one I will continue to purchase throughout the warmer months! But I definitely recommend both.

Waste of money
Waste of money
I don’t believe to have spent $58 on this cleanser which absolutely did nothing to my skin! I was suggested to use this by an Ulta associate with a skin concern of pigmentation and breakouts after a long use of one complete month I saw zero results I hated it so much that I wanted to return but didn’t as I used most of the product! I honestly don’t believe in this brand anymore. I also used a moisturizer from this at the same time which I will review next.
