COMBINATION HAIR CARE ROUTINE 💆🏽♀️
Combination hair; it’s so little talked about but many of us are dealing with it! What is it: Combination hair is usually when an individual has an oily scalp with dry ends. This translates to the oils from the scalp are having trouble working their way down to the ends. Who is more prone to have this hair type: -curly hair -frizzy hair -long hair How I care for it: -It’s important to realize you are essentially trying to treat 2 different hair types at once. (Ex: Using hair products for dry hair will not help the oiliness.) -SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER : instead of using the same shampoo and conditioners. Buy a clarifying shampoo specified for oily hair and a moisturizing conditioner for dry ends. I shampoo and condition 2x a week. -MASKING: it makes sense to use 2 different hair masks for the two different concerns. I mask 1x a week. For my scalp I use a clarifying mask in the shower and for my ends, I apply a moisturizing repair mask to damp hair. -CARE TIPS: * use a detangler spray on your hair before brushing out. It will help cause less damage. * Use a boar bristle brush daily to help spread the natural scalp oils down the skin. * Use a wide tooth comb in the shower after conditioning. * On those days where your scalp is looking a little greasy, opt for a dry shampoo. * On those days you want more shine to your ends, use a hair oil. Just make sure not to apply to the scalp! I have been sticking to this routine for about a month and I have noticed less knots and tangles, shinier ends and a more manageable oily scalp. How To Detangle Hair Without Damaging It
I have fine medium length wavy hair. I have been really focusing on trying to grow it longer. The key to growing it longer is keeping it from getting damaged. My hair tangles very easily after washing it and when I sleep on it. With trial and error with all types of products and tools, I discovered my go steps to less damage and detangling the right way. I purchased the Wet brush that is meant for detangling hair. I never realized that brushing my hair with the incorrect brush when my hair is wet or dry can really do damage over time. This brush was really life changing for my hair. I use it on my wet hair once I am out of the shower or even sometimes in the shower after conditioning. The bristles are really soft and when you use it, it doesn’t pull at your hair at all. I start from the bottom of my hair and work my way up. I have noticed I was losing a lot less hair when I started using this. It is worth trying to prevent further damage in the future. I will not go without it. There is also a product I will use while brushing my hair wet that helps with any knots. It is the Dry Bar Prep Rally, Prime and prep detangler. This product has definitely been a game changer with my hair. Not only does it help with any tangles, it also is heat protectant. So, when you use any hot tools, blow dryer, straightener, or curling iron it will help protect your hair from any damage. I will apply only when my hair is wet all over. This is something I will not go without after washing my hair. I lose less hair and after blowing drying it leaves it soft and smooth and smelling amazing.

🧽BEST DRY SHAMPOO🧽
I HAVE DRY SHAMPOO QUESTIONS!! So, I have always had a hard time finding dry shampoo that worked with my fine hair. Lately, I’ve been using amika: - Perk Up Talc-Free Dry Shampooand/or drybar - Detox Dry Shampoo Lush Scent. I like these two. I’ve been enjoying the Drybar Dry Shampoo a little more than Amika’s. Are there any dry shampoos out there that are better??? I have fine hair that gets oily pretty fast. I try to wash every three days but sometimes it’s every other day.
Nothing blends better
I got this in one of the sample kits I bought. I usually don’t like dry shampoo because no matter what I always see a white hue even though I brush it in like crazy. So when I tried this I was so shocked how easily it blended in 🙌🏼 it smells amazing. I found a full size at Nordstrom for 14.99. It more expensive at Ulta and online 😬 If your looking for a dry shampoo that smells great, is easy to brush through, and blends well, then your search is over :) KEY INGREDIENTS Micro-fine Rice Powders -absorb excess oils and odors. As they absorb, they become translucent to naturally blend with all hair colors and expand to provide lift in the roots. Golden Root Extract -increases moisture to prevent dryness and breakage. SCENT Lush scent with notes of violet, sandalwood and musk HOW TO USE Shake extremely well. Spray into roots 4-6'' (10-15cm) away from the scalp. Allow to dry, gently rub in and brush through.
Get Smooth and Voluminous Natural Curls
A good diffuser has leveled up my curly girl game. I got the drybar - Buttercup Blow Dryer on sale during Christmas. While it’s the nicest hair dryer i’ve owned and it works well, it’s extremely heavy and my arms get so tired diffusing on low/no heat. Because it takes me about an hour to diffuse my hair (I have a lot), something that is equally professional and lightweight is very important to me. I prefer a mix of hover and pixie diffusing, and the drybar - The Bouncer Diffuser works well for both of these. I love the wide mouth, it fits all my curls in very easily. However, a star has also been knocked off for the weight of the product as is makes the end of the blow drier even heavier. I start upside down after plopping, hovering all over my head in sections, taking extra time on the more porous areas that take longer to dry. After it’s about 30% dry, I switch to pixie diffusing, side to side and right side up until almost dry. Do this carefully so as not to encourage frizz!Flip upside down and fluff roots, and done! I finish with OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme to tame any fly-aways and add shine. No cons to this product, it smells heavenly and works great— not heavy or greasy. Overall, these two products are durable and professional I will gladly continue to use them. However, I wish I would have gotten the travel size rather than full size blowdryer to make it easier and not so much of an arm workout diffusing my curls.
High end VS Drugstore Hairdryer
I have thin hair. For years I've been using a normal, ordinary standard hair dryer that I had picked up from Walmart in my freshman year. I didn't noticed a different until i met my roommate who have gorgeous voluminous shinny hair who used a $100+ dryer. My old cheap blow dryers were frying my hair. Thats when I started to do some researches about dryers. It's hard to believe a hair dryer could make a big difference but this one absolutely DOES.Thats when I decided to invest for a good hair dryer. Finding the right blow dryer can make styling your hair a lot easier and more manageable. drybar - Buttercup Blow Dryer This brand might not be familiar to most of you. It is a salon level high end blowdryer with ionic technology that seals the cuticle to reduce frizz while drying. My hair is long and it takes a long time to dry. This cut my drying time in half. My hair was also a lot less frizzy. This is by far my dream dryer. It is quiet, dries quickly, feels nice in the hand, long cord. Basically, everything you need in a dryer. I know there are tons of different brands that you have never heard of but strongly recommended by hair stylists and you are hesitant to try. All you want is a familiar brand name you can trust. Here is an option for you - Revlon's Perfect Heat blow dryer. REVLON - 1875W Perfect Heat Smooth Brilliance Ac Motor Dryer It is good for straightening your hair and w the wide fish eye applicator can be used to have freshly natural looking waves or curls. What more?” and it comes at a super reasonable price point These are my reviews of blowdryers. It is up to you to find your favorite hair dryer based on your budget. Let me know what’s your opinion.
DryBar - Detox Dry Shampoo for Brunettes
I really really didn’t like this product unfortunately. I was in need of a good dry shampoo after running out of a mini amika perk up (a staple but was looking to explore). I got this one because I thought it was neat that it was tailored to my hair colour. Mostly I find some dry shampoos leave my hair with white, baby powder-looking patches that I need to tease out before I start my day. That’s fine, not a big deal, but I thought If I could find a good dry shampoo that I didn’t have that problem with, I’d be set. I don’t know what I was thinking really, but I wasn’t expecting this product to literally be a brown spray paint. It stained my fingers as I tried to brush it through and left my scalp with patches of brown from the colouring. Essentially if you don’t get every spot of your scalp with this, you can tell. It also has an awful awful smell which I can’t place but left me feeling gross all day. I will note that I am very sensitive to scents though. I feel like this product might be better for women trying to cover greys and who don’t mind a strong scent. Just wasn’t for me!
Dry shampoo: prevent dandruff/dry scalp! ✨
drybar - Double Dose of Detox Dry Shampoo A sample I got and keep handy on me I usually buy the ouai dry shampoo but hate carrying my full size so I have this sample trial size in my purse or car I normally stay away from dry shampoo But for days I straightened my hair and want to keep the look another day I spritz a little and comb out with my purse comb TANGLE TEEZER - Compact Styler Hairbrush Is a great hygienic comb you can keep on hand or in your car I only comb my hair right after the shower or when I straighten it since my hair is on the frizzy side You must brush the dry shampoo through the hair or you will cause build up by the scalp Which can then lead to dandruff ,the true reason I stay away from dry shampoo I refuse to have a dry scalp now this does not mean don’t use dry shampoo just make sure to brush it out and not just with your fingers
💜💜 Perfect purple shampoo for blonde babes!
I have naturally dark brown hair that is bleached balayage, therefore I still need to use purple products to keep my blonde pieces from becoming brassy. This has become my new favorite shampoo for toning my bleached hair! It keeps my blonde hair ashy and doesn’t dry out my hair like I’ve experienced with other purple shampoos. It also smells amazing! I definitely recommend this purple shampoo for anyone wanting that lovely ashy blonde look.

Favorite Texturizing Spray!
This is the Drybar Triple Sec texturizing spray. This is one of my all time favorite hair products! I use this every time I have waves or curls in my hair. This doubles as a texturizing spray a hair spray and a dry shampoo all at the same time. If gives you super cute piecey waves as well as creating a strong hold in your hair for long lasting curls. And did I mention it smells amazing? I highly recommend this. It retails around $26 which is affordable for the size of the bottle! I highly recommend.

Hair masks that work
I actually got into Soulfood years ago when my hairdresser actually gave me a sample after my (somewhat) regular hair appointment (I go once a year 🙃). I tried it on and immediately after the first use I fell in love, and so not long afterwards, I purchased it myself ☺️ and even though I use it quite infrequently (I’m way better with skin maintenance than hair maintenance) I’m still in love with it and it will probably be the only hair mask I ever buy again!
