TRICKS to make hair color lasts longer
In a less than ideal world today, we are not able to visit the hair stylists as often as we want, especially at the very first sign of our color fading. While stylists don’t usually recommend DIY-ing your own color at home, that doesn’t mean that we need to relegate to brassy, dull hair until the next visit. Here are some of my good hair habits and strategies to preserve and maintain your color at home. 1. Wash less, dry shampoo more Treat hair very delicately after a fresh color, and definitly wait for a minimum of 48 hours before washing your hair. Color can wash out and fade quickly because the cuticle is open. Skip the shampoo wash and opt for a dry shampoo to absorb excess oil. This award-winning dry shampoo from Amika does not contain harmful talc. It smells great, removes odor and keeps hair fresh throughout the day. If you are worried about a chalky, white residue, Amika’s formula does not leave any of that. It is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, mineral oil, sodium chloride, petrolatum and artificial color, plus safe for color-treated, Brazilian-treated and keratin-treated hair.Win! amika: - Perk Up Talc-Free Dry Shampoo 2. Apply a deep conditioner Hair masks enriches and strengthens hair well with super hydrating ingredients, including coconut, argan and jojoba oils, as well as shea butter and linseed extract, to help smooth the cuticle of the hair. I love Sachajuan’s Hair Repair, infused with algae-derived extracts and unique Ocean Silk Technology. Suitable for all hair types, this restorative treatment fortifies the shaft of my hair follicles to prevent breakage and split-ends. Every wash leaves my strands feeling soft, frizz-free and healthy. SACHAJUAN - SACHAJUAN Hair Repair 3. Reduce or stop heat styling We all love a stylized look or are tempted to pick up a hot tool to curl our hair but heat styling can cause color to fade. If you are going to use them, turn the temperature down. Opt for heat-free methods to curl the hair such as sock-curls to mimic the texture or pen curls as an alternate option (check my previous review)!

Rescue for DRY HAIR - it works! 💯
I have wavy and dry hair that can get unruly if I stop paying attention and TLC to it. Dry hair develops when hair fails to retain enough moisture, reducing its natural shine to appear frizzy and dull. Dry hair can anyone at any age but it is more prevalent as we get older. Our hair consists of three layers. If your hair is healthy, natural oils in the outer layer help protect the inner layers, making hair to shine and reflect light. When your hair is dry, the outer layer breaks down, causing it to appear dull and unhealthy. There are many reasons on what cause dry hair, including lifestyle habits, environmental conditions and our overall physical health. Some of the environmental conditions that have caused my dry hair include living in a dry and hot climate (Texas...) and spending a lot of time outdoors under the sun without a cap. Certain hair care practices may also contribute to dry hair, including washing hair too often, using harsh hair wash products that are unsuitable for my hair type, or using electric straighteners too often. My current remedy for dry hair is the Hair Repair treatment by Sachajuan, an effective and intensive treatment for damaged and stressed hair. I love how a little product goes a long way to treat my dry, frizzy and breakage-prone hair. The brand is known for their Ocean Silk Technology which helps to promote cell regeneration to give hair vitality and strength. This intensive hair repair treatment also offers a long-lasting silky smooth effect and frizz reduction, leaving my hair manageable even after it has been blown dry. To use, massage into freshly shampooed hair. Leave in for five minutes, maximum 20 minutes for full benefit. Rinse well and towel dry. I simply cannot recommend this product enough. It is a must-have for anyone battling with hair dryness issue. SACHAJUAN - SACHAJUAN Hair Repair

caring for straight(ish) hair
Today I want to talk about how I’ve learned to care for my hair, which isn’t stick straight but usually isn’t *super* wavy either. It can also get pretty oily in the summer; I have oily skin on my face, and the two typically go together. First, I tend to wash my hair every day. I know some people are very against this, but it’s what works for me! Since my hair is pretty straight and thin, it tends to get weighed down with product and I hate the feeling of sleeping on it. So I wash it every night. When my hair is wet, I comb out any tangles with a wide-toothed comb. I’ve found this results in way less breakage than if I comb or brush my hair when it’s dry. I use a wooden comb that was a gift, so I’m unsure of what brand it is, but there are lots of great wide-toothed combs out there. I rarely blow dry my hair. I used to blow dry it every day in high school so it would be stick straight, but thankfully that’s not the look anymore 🙃 It’s straight enough without subjecting it to unnecessary heat every day, and heat also makes hair brittle and more prone to breakage unless you use proper heat protectant products. If I do blow dry my hair, I use amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray to protect from heat and add extra volume and shine. I’ve reviewed this before, but just to recap: I love it! A little goes a long way to add just the right amount of volume to my hair. I’ll be honest: I haven’t been styling my hair much at all since I’ve been working from home since March 😬 Most days it’s just a scrunchie ponytail for me. I’ll occasionally add some Batiste - Batiste Dry Shampoo or SACHAJUAN - Dark Volume Powder to add some volume to my roots—both of these are great for making my roots look lifted, and I’m recommend them to anyone with straight hair in need of a little volume and texture.

how I deal with thin hair
Thin hair... I’ve always had it, so I’ve picked up a few tricks over the years for dealing with it. I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to my hair, but I’ve found just a couple of products that, along with a few tips and tricks, keep my thin hair looking thicker and more voluminous. first, I’ve learned that long hair is NOT for me, as it emphasizes how thin my hair is. thin hair means I’m prone to breakage and split ends, both of which are pretty evident if my hair gets too long. so sadly, if you also have thin hair, long locks may be worth reconsidering. second, I’ve learned to never apply conditioner to my scalp—just the ends of my hair. conditioning my scalp weighs down my thin strands and causes buildup. third, I’ve learned that flipping your head upside down while blow drying with volumizing products isn’t just something girls do in movies... it actually works! These are two products that I use on almost a daily basis to help with my thin, flat hair: amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray . I think this is the older packaging, but this stuff is amazing. I spray it on my wet hair and blow dry, and wow—I swear my hair has twice the volume. It smells amazing, but don’t overdo it like I did the first few times because then my hair was just a tad crunchy. This stuff is great because you don’t need much to see results, which is why this has lasted me so long. SACHAJUAN - Dark Volume Powder . This is a newer product to me, and it’s decidedly pricier than the Amika spray, but it gives my hair volume and texture, and the packaging and scent are luxe. I tend to use this just on my roots, while I use the Amika spray all over. In the before picture, I had no product in my hair. Then I sprayed my hair with water to make it damp and blow dried with the amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray for just a few minutes, then I added the SACHAJUAN - Dark Volume Powder for a little extra volume. If anyone else has tips or products that help with thin/flat hair, I’m all ears!

The best hair products for thin hair🌟
I do dream of having the luxurious, silky hair of a shampoo model but the fact is, my natural hair is slightly wavy, thin, and dry at the ends. It feels light, and lack natural body and bounce.  My scalp is also pretty sensitve, and is prone to dry flakes and dandruff.   With that, I am careful with the types of hair care products I use so that I do not aggrevate my hair condition further. I find that daily shampooing helps deliver bounce and shine to my hair. As my hair accumulates dirt, dust, oil and grime every day, especially since I work out everyday now, these can weigh the locks down. Daily shampooing helps keep my scalp healthy and clean of flakes and skin-cell build-up. The right conditioner pairing also helps keep hair smooth and shiny without limpness.   I recently discovered the Sachajuan series of hair care products and would recommend the scalp shampoo for anyone with fine, limp hair and a problem scalp. A special shampoo that specifically addresses a flaky, irritated scalp, the formula is also enriched with  rosemary oil, methanol, and ginger extract to restore a healthy moisture balance of hair and scalp. Lactic acid in the ingredients list helps regulate oil production (perfect for fine hair), while salicylic acid gently sheds dead skin, promoting new cell growth. I am afraid of hair care products with strong, chemical scent and this shampoo is the opposite – it has a light hint of ginger which is soothing to have in the bathroom. The gel texture is easy to apply all over damp hair too. After using this for a few weeks, there is noticable difference in the amount of dry flakes I see on my scalp and my shoulders. For me, that’s a big win towards luscious and healthy hair. The series also contain a conditioner for you to massage into washed scalp and hair. After applying, comb through gently and allow 1–5 minutes to work in before rinsing well. Never apply a conditioner to your roots — only to your mid-lengths and ends. I will definitely recommend this range to anyone who is looking to switch brands. I love the brand’s minimalist packaging and their straightforward formulas blended with technological innovation like the Ocean Silk technology, which uses extracts from two cold water algae naturally harvested from the ocean.

Best Treatments for Coarse Hair
My hair is not as full on my head as before but it is still primarily of coarse and dry texture. Coarse hair refers to the circumference of the individual strand. While my hair is not thick and full in terms of density, it has plenty of natural body and feel rough in terms of texture. As the diameter of coarse hair is regarded as the widest of all hair textures, it is more prone to moisture evaporation and dry ends. I generally lean towards products labelled ‘re-moisturizing’, ‘moisturizing’ and ‘smoothing’ and those that tame frizz. Other than regular cleansing and conditioning, treatments are so important to my hair care routinet to comfort and add moisture to my locks. It is akin to putting on a sheet mask on my face for an added boost of hydration. I use the Sachajuan’s Hair Repair treatment in addition to the brand’s shampoo and conditioner for my scalp. This award-winning intensive hair treatment for damaged and stressed hair promotes cell regeneration and lends vitality and strength to my dry, brittle ends. Enriched with the second highest concentration of Ocean Silk Technology (contain extracts from two cold water algae naturally harvested from the ocean), it promotes a long lasting effect and ultra frizz reduction for a noticably shiny, healthy look. My hair always looks much healthier after each use and the effects last for more than one wash. To use, I massage into freshly shampooed hair, skipping the ends. I leave the product in for 15 minutes for maximum benefit, usually with a disposable shower cap. I then rinse my hair well and towel dry. I use this after conditioning sometimes but as the product is pretty effective, you can use this directly after shampooing. A little product goes a long way, so do not be put off by the relatively small bottle. I would definitely recommend this to all my friends who are seeking a hydrating boost for their hair!

Guess Who Wins!
Guess Who Wins!
LG Birds Nest Premium Haircare  I love this shampoo. It lathers well and my scalp feels refreshing after using it. It doesn't make the tips of my hair dry either. After using this shampoo, I don't rely on hair mask that much anymore. I will consider repurchasing this product.😉 Mane’n Tail shampoo & conditioner Mane‘n Tail - Original ShampooMane‘n Tail - Original Conditioner This is not an oil control shampoo, and the conditioner is not nourishing.  I will not repurchase this product.👎 Sachajuan Hair Repair SACHAJUAN - SACHAJUAN Hair Repair It's not bad. It was absorbed as soon as I applied it, but it couldn't moisturize the tips of my hair. I don't think it's worth the price. 🤔 I will not repurchase this product. Briogeo Don’t despair, repair! Deep conditioning mask Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask The price for this is almost the same as Sachajuans', but it's obviously inferior judging from how it felt when using it and the results. It has a thin consistency and requires a large amount every time. It's also not moisturizing enough. It's fine when used with the moisturizer from the same brand, but if it's used with a stronger shampoo, then the tips of your hair will likely be very dry. I will not repurchase this product. 🤔

How to have healthy and longer hair for PoC
How to have healthy and longer hair for PoC
My hair for years has been damaged and abused. I spent most of my days since childhood relaxing my hair because of cultural stereotypes that women should have straight hair. For reference, I had Shirley temple curls as a kid. I also spent my middle school days as the typical emo chick trying to straighten my hair and burned it- whoops. I stopped using relaxer about 2-3 years ago and started to do keratin 2-3 times a year. It improved my hair quite a bit but not all the way. Since the quarantine, I decided to try a whole new routine since I’m stuck at home. And I have to say, my hair looks completely different! I haven’t had keratin in awhile and my hair is nice and wavy. I don’t even need to blow dry it. I have to say my hair was quite parched so I decided to use a bunch of oils. My hair has always been up to my shoulders, never grew and even used to fall out. My tip outside of using the products listed is cut back on the hot tools. Try to find other ways to style your hair or do protective hair styles until you are satisfied with your texture. I sometimes used an INH ponytail when I didn’t feel like leaving my hair down or did a small bun. The INH ponytails are extremely cute too! Anyways my hair has grown about 3 inches in quarantine. Not exaggerating at all because I measured. I also was eating much better. I ate more vegetables like brocolli, spinach and mushrooms. these are my holy-grail products: Castor Oil (Handcraft blends on Amazon) Pura D’or Organic Fractioned Coconut Oil (on Amazon) Phyto Specific Baobab Oil SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner SACHAJUAN - SACHAJUAN Hair Repair Wild Growth Oil and Wild Growth Oil light (DO NOT GET AT AMAZON. They sell fakes. Try House of Beauty or go on their website for licensed resellers) Best way to use products: Basically the castor oil and coconut oil I use as a hair mask for an hour or two before I shower. As a pre-treatment. I use the sachajuan hair repair as a hair mask in the shower right after shampooing. Then after the conditioner I put the sheamoisture leave in conditioner, baobab oil and Hask Argan oil from Morocco Leave in Spray(not listed as a holy grail yet because I’ve only tried it once). The Wild growth oil you use once a week or every two weeks. And the Wild growth light oil you use a bit up to 3 times a week or two.
