AM, PM, Occasional, and New Products!
I’ve been simplifying my day to day routines and working in “specialty” products on occasion, to save time and money. AM (Alllll about quick and easy!) Andalou Apricot Cleansing Milk Cerave PM Moisturizer Nivea Super Watery Gel SPF PM Cerave Hydrating Cleanser (or Andalou if I want more richness) EB5 Anti Aging Toner Curology (clindamyacin 1%, tretinoin .04%, azelaic acid 7%) Hadalabo Hyalruronic Acid Illiyoon Ceramide Moisturizer Acure Blue Tansy Oil Rotating Products Makeup Removal: Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm (I know some of you swear by the double cleanse, but it’s typically too irritating for me daily) Exfoliating (in place of EB5): Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Ultra Gentle Peel (great when I feel a breakout coming on), Alpha H Liquid Gold (for when I’m feeling super lazy—I cleanse, use this, and slap on a thick moisturizer...that’s it!) Laneige Water Sleeping Mask: Great top coat to seal in extra moisture Cicaplast Baume 5: Also a great top coat, more occlusive and I love when I’m feeling super dry Acne Spot Treatment: Kate Somerville EradiKate reduces size and redness overnight. Tends to pull off the whiteheads and cause bleeding & thus scarring when removed the next morning, so use with caution Holy Grail: Naturopathica Alpine Rose Recovery Serum. This is a 7-day treatment serum that reduces redness, plumps you up, and helps bump up the glow. For use 3-4 times a year at most, so would be great to use if you have an event you want to look extra glowy for. (Who goes anywhere nowadays? I can dream...) New Products (both recommended by my skincare group. Will update) Stratia Liquid Gold: Additional evening moisture layer Stratia Rewind: evening moisture layer, supposed to help with redness too

texture no mo!
dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum this is my first review so please bare with me 😅 I have some texture mostly on my chin and sides/creases of my nose. I've used many scrubs but they don't have long last results until I started using this microfoliant by dermalogica. it's meant to be used daily which I like, and I've been using it for almost a month now. immediately I noticed more smooth skin. I've had a mini size of the drunk elephant framboos serum laying around for a while so I figured might as well use it in conjunction with the microfoliant. the results are night and day honestly. the problem area (my chin and nose creases) is no longer a problem area. the bumps are gone, my skin is smooth and supple. I very rarely wear foundation but im looking forward to wearing it to see if indeed the skin is completely smoothed out. I highly recommend the microfoliant, I got the mini/travel size for $21 Canadian. I do recommend the the drunk elephant serum as well, but it is quite pricey. pros: - both products work great - both can be used together to get the best results cons: - both are very expensive for the large size. hope this was helpful to someone out there with the same issue as me 🥰 #drunkelephant #dermalogica

Which one first?
Hi everyone! My skin type is combination of normal and hormonal spots on jowl and hyperpigmentation on forehead/temples My skin goal is to achieve brighter skin (isn’t everyone’s 🤪) and to have all round supple anti-aging skin! Iv always had a good skin care routine and work within the aesthetics and dermatology industry. Love trying new products and have been using the ordinary plant derived squalane for roughly a month now, I’m wanting to add in the niacinamide after much research and recommendations. I currently use dermalogica - Special Cleansing Gel Followed by OBAGI - Clenziderm M.D. Pore Therapy but iv Iv just ran of this and waiting on the clinic to get more... this toner is heaven for my spots down my jowl, I have a Pomeranian who licks my face whenever possible so this really cleaned the bacteria up which was given me spots! I then use The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane which has helped heaps with adding moisture back into my skin as it temporarily got very dry due to environmental factors Finished off with The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Iv just bought the COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essenceand waiting for that to arrive. I’m wanting to know at what point in my routine do I add in the The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%? Do I add this after my toner before my squalane serum? Once my snail mucin arrives that will be the first product after iv cleansed and toned I’m just unsure which serum I do first or whether it even matter? Any other advice is welcomed! I love trying new products and very rarely sticks to one product, I used to use DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample cleaner which was great I just like to bounce between products so currently on my dermalogica one iv used on and off for years. ❤️

CLEANSING GEL FOR LIFE
This is such an efficient cleansing gel yet soft face wash. It doesn’t leave you dry but you know that job is done because your skin will feel clean and bouncy after. It leaves your skin feeling fresh with the mint and lavender they have inside the product. Nothing beats the fact that is is also Gluten Free, Vegan and Cruelty free. With everything tho consistency is key!!!!

Products That Have Been Great for Maskne
Maskne has been throwing me for a loop and it’s been really difficult to figure out how to prevent and combat these pesky breakouts, especially as someone who has acne-prone skin and is already dealing with breakouts of my own. I’ve found that it really comes down to exfoliation and making sure that your skin is thoroughly cleansed after wearing a mask (plus, making sure that your mask is clean and that you’re not using creamy/oily makeup and skincare products). Here are of my maskne superheroes: dermalogica - Precleanse Cleansing Oil This deep-cleansing oil melts make-up and impurities from the skin and helps remove those pore-clogging layers of oil, sunscreen, environmental pollutants and residual products that are building up under your mask and getting ready to cause breakouts. This is a really great cleansing oil and I recommend using it at night after a long day of wearing a mask. It’s meant to be used before a regular cleanser as the first step in double cleansing, so make sure that you follow up with a water-based or gel-like cleanser afterwards to really get into those pores and get rid of all the buildup. If you’re worried about it irritating your skin, know that it’s also formulated with essential fatty acids to nourish and replenish the skin barrier. I will be repurchasing this when it runs out and would recommend it to a friend! FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Pads Any exfoliating product will do, but I’ve found that FAB’s Radiance Pads have been great for keeping maskne at bay. It’s designed for sensitive skin types and contains glycolic and lactic acids to promote exfoliation and brightness. I like to use them as a toner/exfoliation moment after I double cleanse to really make sure that all the pore-clogging gunk is out of my skin. Since it’s sensitive skin-approved, you don’t have to worry about any stinging or irritation and it also helps improve overall texture and tone over time. These are my all-time favorite pads and I’d definitely recommend them to a friend. OLE HENRIKSEN - Invigorating Night Transformation Gel Now that everything is cleaned and exfoliated, it’s important to treat the affected areas as well. I like to use this at night as a spot treatment and focus it on the areas that are most susceptible to breaking out (my jawline, chin, nose, cheekbones, etc.) It’s a thick serum gel that’s formulated with potent AHAs to smooth skin texture, even tone, and reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles while you sleep. It’s great for sensitive skin and doesn’t cause irritation, so it’s gentle enough for nightly use. Just make sure you wear sunscreen the next day. I like having it around but I don’t know if I’ll repurchase it. I’ve found that Clean & Clear’s Persagel 10 spot treatment is also really good as well, and it’s more affordable.

Cleansing oil!
This is my first try at a precleansing oil and I love it! I got the travel size from Ulta because it was $13 compared to the $48 full size. It’s a really thin oil that smells like lavender and spread across you face super well! I usually don’t go for scented products, but since it’s only on my face for a few seconds and then washed off with water and then my gel cleanser that I figured I would give it a try anyway. I don’t think I’ll buy the full size product because I’d like to find something cheaper, but the travel size has lasted me almost 2 months and I still have half a bottle left. It rinses off well and doesn’t feel like you just slathered oil all over your face and it smells great!

Will propylene glycol ruin your skin?🤔🤔🤔
Recently, using an ingredient “propylene glycol” in skincare products has more and more controversies. Some people say that their skin feel burned and turn red after applying products include propylene glycol, while other people feels nothing using the same products. Why there are different feelings using the same ingredient? First, we would like to know about this ingredient. What is propylene glycol? From professional aspect, (this part is dull, and you can skip if you want) Propylene glycol is a propylene oxide which is derived from petrochemical, and it is a small molecule moisturizing ingredient. It is a kind of polyol and it is almost colorless, odorless, non-greasy, and completely soluble in water. Also, it has antiseptic effect. More generally, propylene glycol promotes strong penetration and can easily penetrates the stratum corneum. It can reduce the viscosity, and make the feeling of applying more refreshing and absorb quickly. People who has a thick cuticle or afraid of greasy texture would like it very much. Propylene glycol also has been used as a humectant and solvent. It reduces the loss of moisture in the product itself and the skin, and it is usually used as moisturizing. Therefore, many skincare products like to add this ingredient to promote their feeling when the products are applied on skin. However, the amount of its addition is controversial. In general cosmetics, the proportion of propylene glycol will not exceed 5%. A small number of people will have a tingling burning sensation after use. The US FDA believes that propylene glycol is a safe cosmetic ingredient, but sensitive skin is better to avoid using this ingredient, and healthy skin do not have to worry too much. I have a combination oil skin type, and have some post acne redness and dark spot on both checks. Also, My skin is kind of sensitive but not very serious, and I have a typical color of Asian skin. My pursue is to brighten my skin as long as it seems healthier, and moisturizing my skin at the same time. After Victoria Beckham recommending so many times, I bought the dermalogica - Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask. I have use this mask for one month, and use it once a week. It has a creamy texture but not sticky at all. It is light yellow when you first squeeze out the mask, and let it leave on your skin for 10-20 min. Then you would notice that your skin has become a dark orange color. Rinse the masque with warm water gently, then you will have a brighter skin at once. I have done some research of this masque, and this masque contains propylene glycol but is listed at very low place in the ingredient list. In this case, my skin did not have any sensitive expression after using it, and I would say that I kind of relief after using propylene glycol. Friendly speaking, propylene glycol is a common ingredient in our daily skincare. You don’t have to refuse it at all. However, if you have a really sensitive skin, try to avoid this ingredient and repair your skin barrier at first. This is the most important thing for sensitive skins. At last, hope that everyone has a smooth and a health skin, and everyone can find the most suitable skincare products. If you have any questions or suggestions, tell me below😘

Dermalogica: super hot but not worth the hype for me
Dermalogica, as its name suggested, is a brand developed and supported by dermatologists. Professionalism is an important name card and that’s also the reason why I opted for these two products from this brand. But after consistent use for about two months, I would say, meh, just these two are not for me, and personally speaking, they are not worth the hype. 1. Multivitamin power recovery masque dermalogica - Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask Multivitamin here stands for vitamin A, C, E and F. These multiple nutrients contained are capable of improving skin conditions. Vitamin A and E are anti-oxidants while Vitamin C should help remove dark spots and improve skin tone. I am a combo skin type and when I bought this I was hoping it would brighten my face and reduce dullness. I am deeply bothered by a face lacking glow resulting from long hours in front of the computer and not enough sleep. The face mask, when putting on my face, feels relaxing and soothing: it’s gentle and is easy to apply. But after washing it off, I just don’t feel anything has changed. Maybe my skin is a bit more soft and supple, but that’s all and that’s also not long-lasting. I tried to use more at one time but again, barely a thing has changed. It’s $59 for 2.4oz?? I mean, I could definitely invest in better masks. 2. Special cleansing gel dermalogica - Special Cleansing Gel I bought this together with the mask to get free shipping. It actually feels great when using: it’s soap-free so it’s gentle and never leaves my face tight. It’s also quite soothing since there are lavender extracts and balm mint. But I feel it may be just too mild to be able to rinse away all the dirt on my face. Plus, it’s $39 for 8.4oz. I could totally find a dupe and I would definitely do that.  Final verdict: not the worth hype. Won’t repurchase for sure!

Best Sunscreens Under Makeup!
Just because the weather is changing doesn’t mean we can slack off when it comes SPF the health of our skin! I used to neglect wearing SPF because I felt like it ruined my makeup, but thankfully I have found some really great options that wear really nicely under my foundation and tinted moisturizers. I have pretty normal/combination skin so I have quite a few formulas that I enjoy depending on how my skin is behaving. During the warmer months, when my skin is more on the oily side, I typically each for a mattifying SPF. One of my faves is the #Rodan + Fields - Invisible Matte Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] It feels smooth and silky when applied, and it’s also clear which I love! It also helps keep my oils in check! Another summertime favorite is the BARE REPUBLIC - Face Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 First of all, I love Bare Republic’s sunscreens because they are reef friendly and contain no chemical sunscreen actives. I also love that it dries down to a powder finish, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. I use this sunscreen basically year round because it works when my skin is either dry or oily. Another year round fave is the PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 I tend to reach for it pretty frequently because of its anti-aging benefits and also because of how lightweight it is! It absorbs into my skin super quickly also which is important when I’m in a hurry and don’t have much time to get ready in the morning. When my skin is on the dry side, I love using the VOLITION - Prismatic Luminizing Shield SPF 50 Not only does it protect my skin from harmful UV rays, but it also gives my complexion the prettiest glow. I love wearing it on makeup free days because of the radiance it adds to my complexion, but it also wears beautifully under makeup. It’s also really lightweight and breathable. Another great and super lightweight formula is the MyChelle dermaceuticals - Sun Shield Liquid SPF 50 I love that it evens out my complexion and adds a little bit of glow while still being a matte formula. It’s also blends into the skin really nicely! I’m a huge fan of Mychelle Beauty’s skincare products! Two of my newer SPF products that I have really been enjoying are the dermalogica - Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 Moisturizer and the JANMARINI - Antioxidant Physical Protectant SPF30 The Jan Marini sunscreen is water resistant so I love wearing it when I’m doing anything outdoors because I know I’m not going to sweat it off. It keeps my oils in check and has the added benefits of additional antioxidant protection. The Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery is also a great option because not only is it an SPF, but it’s also a really nice lightweight moisturizer. It absorbs pretty quickly and doesn’t leave any type of residue on my skin either. #cheriecreator

DIY TINTED MOISTURIZER 💫
DIY tined moisturizer is one of my oldest tricks in the book! I’ve been doin it for years and it has saved me so much money and counter space because I can use products that I already own. It’s great for days off when I want a little coverage for my face but I want it to be quick, easy and natural. The products I’m using to make my tinted moisturizer are dermalogica - Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 Moisturizer and Too Faced - Born This Way Natural Finish Foundation . How to! 1. Put a pea size amount of both your moisturizer and foundation on the back of your hand 2. Use a small makeup brush or Q-tip to combine together (I would avoid using your finger because of bacteria) 3. I use a foundation brush to apply all over my face and blend in 4. Finish with a setting powder, I love Glossier’s Wowder so that you’re not too shiny 5. You’ve got a little bit of coverage plus spf and you’re good to go!

Dermalogica & Paulas Choice - Is it OffThaChain?
I’ve noticed a HUGE following for PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid ExfoliatorI see why from what the reviews say and the ingredients; Certified Cruelty-Free, Gluten-Free, Sulfate-Free, Paraben-Free, Vegan, Oil-Free, Fragrance-Free. I’ve been looking for an effective toner. I’ve posted before about Skinceauticals Conditioning Toner that I currently use but it’s not giving me the results that I want. It’s a great product but I’m looking for more in a toner, which is why I purchased this. I heard about this from a very knowledgeable woman, Cassandra Bankson, and lemme tell you, she knows her shit... She has mentioned nothing bad about this product, not even the slightest. She deals with almost everything I’ve dealt with when it comes to the face. She talks a lot about this product on her YouTube Channel if you’d like to know more. But I can’t wait to use this, and I can’t wait to post about it. You’ll hear from me again about this product, no doubt.👌🏼 I’ve been looking into a Retinol as well, which Cassandra Bankson has also mentioned on her YouTube channel dermalogica - Retinol Acne Clearing OilIt seems to be everything I’m looking for in a retinol - Jojoba, Salicylic acid, Argan & Rosehip seed oils, Pro-Retinol (Retinyl Propionate paired with a booster) I also love that it is Paraben, Sulfate & Syntheic Fragrance free, Aaand Cruelty-Free, vegan; recyclable packaging. Right now I’m currently using The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane. It seems to be working really well for me, a slight positive difference in my texture & helped minor fine lines with no purging. Again, I’m looking for more effective/natural ingredients in retinol (& ingredients), which I know work really well for my skin. Recently I’ve changed my diet up (vegan ish), skincare routine (which I’ll post when I have it all assembled), and drinking a shit load of water, which seems to be very beneficial to my skin and all around body. ✨I’m super siked about these two products, and I really can’t wait to let y’all know how it works for me! Please ask away whatever questions you’re curious about! ✌🏼♥️🌻

DO THIS before popping pimples!
We have all fallen victim to sitting in front of our magnified mirror for an hour, pinching and pressing at our skin trying to clear up all the zits. Once we are done, we discover our face is red, splotchy and usually looking way worse than before! WHY you shouldn't pop your pimples at home- 1) It can cause infection! 🚫 Infection can occur for a few reasons. Either your hands are not completely clean when you start touching it, or you pop the pimple but don't completely rid it of pus. If there is still bacteria under the surface, it can spread and cause a cystic bump or nodule! 2) It causes irritation most likely you are not controlling the angle and pressure of your hands when squeezing a pimple. This can damage the skin and cause irriation and redness that may take a while to heal! And finally... 3) Can cause permanent damage I know it is hard to believe that this can happen, but as a licensed esthetician I am alwaus reminding folks of the damage they can cause at home. The skin must heal properly after a pimple is extracted, otherwise it can leave behind a scar or hyperpigmentation. Without using the proper technique, this can happen much easier than you think! The damage leaves you with an even more difficult skin condition to cure than just a pesky pimple. ☆What to use instead of your hands or dangerous extractor tools: MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion I love how affordable this spot treatment is! This works perfectly on those pimples that look like they're about to pop. It absorbs the bacteria and allows the pimple to heal without harsh techniques. HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original and Invisible+ Bundle The mighty patch products are also great as an overnight pimple treatment. It absorbs the infection and stays on just the spot you need healing. I like this option even more for larger pimples that can spread bacteria on surrounding skin easily! HOW TO USE EITHER OF THESE SPOT TREATMENTS: -properly cleanse the face and apply night time products, avoiding pimples that will be covered in spot treatment. Do not shake, and use a cotton swap to apply the drying lotion only on pimple. The patches are simply stuck to skin right over the affected area. Cleanse off or remove the next morning and reapply as needed the following night! FYI: This won't work as well on closed comedones like whiteheads, so choose a physical exfoliant in your routine instead. 🌿🌿 Some options for closed bumps and deeper acne breakouts: Krave - Kale-Lalu-yAHA The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Solution dermalogica - Retinol Acne Clearing Oil If you can, seek out a professional to perform extractions on the skin. They are trained in keeping your skin clean and cause as little damage as possible. Many facials include extractions as a part of the process. ☆What do you use on your pimples?

MASKNE + 4 TIPS ON HOW TO COMBAT IT!
maskne, UGH!😩 never in my life did i think i’d be living through a pandemic. seriously, did you ever think that when you leave the house you’d have to add “wait, forgot my mask” to your leaving-the-house checklist? i definitely didn’t. i have a love & hate relationship with masks, because they hide my acne but they’re also the cause of it. 😩 so, you ask, how do you combat the acne? read along for some tips! 1. invest in a silk mask! silk absorbs less moisture & dirt than any other fabric, allowing your hydrated skin to stay hydrated throughout the night. silk is also gentler, and it allows your skin to actually breathe! 2. change your pillowcases every few days! 3. make sure you are always double cleansing! 4. invest in products that are targeted specifically towards your skin time! i have oily, acne-prone skin, and this simple routine below has helped prevent & diminish those active breakouts. 🧼 ($19.50) dermalogica - Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash clears away dead skin cells, dirt and excess oils that clog pores and cause breakouts. contains salicylic acid>> sheds dead skin and reduces inflammation. 🧼 ($20) dermalogica - Clear Start Micro Pore Mist a toner and facial mist in one! it minimizes visible pores, reduces excess oil, and helps diminish the appearance of post-breakout marks. it contains rich antioxidants + niacinamide. 🧼 ($21) dermalogica - Clear Start Breakout Clearing Booster helps combat breakout-causing bacteria for rapid skin clearing. 🐌 ($13.99 for 4.05 oz) peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner contains snail mucin, cica, and birch juice, which naturally exfoliates the skin + targets dark spots, evens the skin tone, heals, soothes, hydrates, and calms inflammation. 🐌 ($16.99 for 2.82 oz) peach slices - Snail Rescue All-in-One Oil Free Moisturizer does the same! it also provides long lasting hydration. 🌍 ($18 for 2 oz) ROSEN SKINCARE - Earth Mask regulates oil, fights active acne, and keeps breakouts at by with fuller’s earth clay, zinc oxide, eucalyptus oil, and even more. don’t forget to wear your masks! but most importantly, take care of what’s UNDER that mask.

Dermalogica vs. Good molecules
Dermalogica vs. Good molecules
dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator This exfoliating is good and does the job but the price is way too high and it comes with only that much. It is such a good product but there are cheaper alternatives for this product that work the same if not even better. GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder This exfoliating powder is literally the same if not even better than the Dermalogica one I have noticed the difference and my face feels a lot smoother. I also noticed that I haven’t gotten any dry patches the next day which is good when I used the Dermalogica one I have dry patches the next day ( nothing to crazy just little ones here and there) the reason this gets a four star instead of five is because I really hate the smell of it but it just works so amazing and gentle on my skin. Overall, they are both good products but I would go to the good molecules one because it’s much cheaper and has benefiting and non harmful ingredients.
