So far I am super happy with how my skin is looking! I started on January 6, and today is February 16. The end of my 90 days will be either at the end of March or at the beginning of April, so I’m about halfway there. The struggle for me right now is that my skin changes day to day. One day I will wake up with lots of cystic pimples, and one dat, like today, my skin will have none. I definitely still have dark marks, but I’m okay with that for now! As long as they aren’t active I am happy lol. I still seem to get acne flares on my period, which is discouraging considering Spironolactone is for hormonal acne. I’m just trying to trust the process🧐 I realized that I haven’t talked about my daily morning and night routine, so here it is! Morning: -cleanse with either PEACH & LILY - Power Calm Hydrating Gel Cleanser or CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser -moisturize with either PEACH & LILY - Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream or FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Minis Original & Cranberry Pomegranate -apply spf with Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 -my makeup routine At night: -remove makeup with DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil -cleanse with CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser -moisturize with FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Minis Original & Cranberry Pomegranate -apply a pea sized amount of .025% Tretinoin formula from Apostrophe - Topical Formula -and of course some Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant on my lips before bed!
another two bite the dust ✌🏻
Two more empties: HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray I’ve already reviewed this toner on my previous post. I like the sprayer aspect but the formula is just meh. Nothing to write home about. I’ll keep the spray bottle to reuse again but probably won’t repurchase this toner in the near future. DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil The smell was a little weird at first, think olive oil, but overall the consistency and the way it felt being massaged into my skin won me over. I loved this product but will not be repurchasing due to the backlash the brand is receiving due to racist comments made by the brand’s creator. As consumers, we are powerful. We have the power to perpetuate wealth for creators. We vote with our wallets. I will not continue to support or buy a brand that has questionable ethics. I have instead chosen to purchase THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm as it’s replacement! Have you tried these products? What do you think? Do ethics play in to which brands you purchase from? Let me know ☺️

My January 2021 empties
Looks like I emptied many of the cleansing products. Star of the month goes to: Bronze - BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream likely to repurchase when finished other eye cream inventories. This is somewhat rich eye cream and glide on easily. Silver - FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm got silver just because it has attracted everyone’s attention. I still have one big jar to go then will try something else after. Gold - DHC - DHC Lip Cream this is something I can’t live without and will never trade for anything else. Will definitely keep repurchasing!
Skincare in the hospital: what I brought!
Being the type to never skip my skincare routine, I knew I wouldn’t be able to go without while in the hospital after giving birth! That being said, I knew I’d need to pair it down to the bare essentials, and bring practical items. Due to complications I had a cesarean, and my daughter came a lot earlier than expected (she’s 8mos and super pudgy currently). I hadn’t quite pictured it being the way it was, but it was honestly a beautiful experience (minus the major surgery). So with that, I was in the hospital for about 4 days after delivering. Naturally, I wanted to care for my skin in the small ways I could, since I couldn’t really walk to the bathroom to wash my face (and I kinda didn’t want to because it hurt too much tbh), so how’d I do it? Here’s how, and here’s what I brought. I packed my favorite lip balm for starters, hospital air is insanely drying and it really does a number on your skin and lips. DHC - DHC Lip Cream is my go-to, and kept my lips nice and hydrated. Next, because I knew how sweaty and gross I’d get just sitting there, I brought Johnson’s Head-To-Toe baby cleansing cloths so that I could give myself a sort of sponge bath while confined to my hospital bed. They smell super fresh, do a decent job, and didn’t irritate my skin. I wouldn’t personally use them on my baby because her skin is so sensitive to wipes. But that being said, they helped me to feel less gross, and were worth it! I then packed my travel Belif toner and essence belif - Bestsellers On-the-Go Travel Kit , and soaked a bunch of cotton pads in water, and also a handful of them in essence/toner. I was able to sort of cleanse my face this way while being stuck in the bed, and it was one of the few things that made me feel human again. I used the cotton pads soaked in water to wet my face to cleanse, then to wipe off the soap, and followed up with toner. I brought my favorite soothing serum and cream for my skin at the time, as my face during pregnancy was always battling dry itchy red patches. I used dear, klairs - Rich Moist Soothing Serum , and then dear, klairs - Rich Moist Soothing Cream . The scent is barely there and smells natural, and it did wonders for my skin. Lastly I’d finish up with innisfree - Orchid Youth-Enriched Eye Cream Now, the one product that helped me to feel super at-home and refreshed, despite the wreck that was my body, was GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist . It was so refreshing to mist my sleep-deprived self with this stuff; and it kept my skin so hydrated and comfortable. I also brought some dry shampoo; Ouidad - Clean Sweep Moisturizing Dry Shampoo If you’re packing your birth-bag, consider throwing in some skincare!
Powder exfoliation 💆🏽♀️
This is such an affordable powder exfoliator, all you do is pour some into your hand and add a little water it turns into a bubbly cleanser than gently exfoliates the skin 💕 I’ve been using it for a month now and so far it’s been great for my combo skin definitely do recommend.
DHC J-beauty Face Wash
DHC - Face Wash Powder This is a perfect face wash if you have oily or combination skin like mine. It is a foaming face wash that exfoliates very gently. Texture is powder at first and once you mix with water, it lathers very nicely. DHC is a Japanese beauty (J-beauty) product line and I’ve been interested in trying them for a long time! It finally came to ULTA last year and I tried it for the first time. I’ve been in love since then. I like how gentle this face wash is and I recommend it for anyone with irritated skin. The price is affordable and totally worth it.

Manuka Honey will SAVE your skin!
This is only a month side by side! For some background knowledge my skin barrier got extremely damaged after trying to oil cleanse using the DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil and Lip Cream Gift Set Which completely ended up breaking out my skin! My skin isn’t usually acne prone or anything but it completely blocked my pores. So obviously after freaking out. I tried using a ton of different products and nothing helped. In fact I made matters worse. I tried using curology I tried using Cerave products and even some Farmacy products. I literally tried everything under the sun. 🚨 Also take in mind my skin has been pretty much always pretty good never flawless but pretty much no acne ever! So this was a complete shock! 🚨 UNTIL! Manuka Honey was a GOD SEND PEOPLE!!!! (No exaggeration!) Manuka honey is well known for its medicinal properties particularly its wound healing properties. It’s also known to balance the ph in your skin, hydrate and fight acne plus it can also exfoliate and help with hyperpigmentation! Not only can it help with exterior factors like your skin but it can also help with internal factors like your gut health, or if you have strep throat. Basically it’s like your ✨magic potion✨ all in 1!! ❤️ MANUKA HONEY IS ALSO HYRAM APPROVED! ❤️ My skin routine is now extremely simple and is for those who have sensitive skin like myself and cannot handle oils on their face but still need something hydrating. My skin routine: Morning Wash off my honey mask from the night before with just water (cold preferably) COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence Awesome if you have a disrupted moisture barrier or need some extra plumpness to your routine plus it makes your skin glow with your moisturizer and gives lots of hydration while fighting hyperpigmentation CeraVe - Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 For Normal To Oily Skin Great because it not only moisturizes your skin but it also has SPF to protect it, while giving you the benefits of niacinamide and is oil free! Great for sensitive skin!! Night LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser I love this cleanser! This is now my #1 go to 100%! Not only is it hydrating just enough! But it’s so gentle and gets rid of your makeup which is always a plus! And it doesn’t break you out while giving you those great benefits like niacinamide! ✨🍯 UMF 15+ Manuka Honey: I wear straight up honey as a Face mask overnight (Sleep with it on) and wash it off in the morning. (Super simple) 🍯 ✨ This is what absolutely changed everything for my skin. If u can only afford 1 product get Manuka honey with a UMF factor of AT LEAST 10+ i have the 15+ but 10+ will work just as amazing! This will go along way and get rid of basically any problems with your skin.
Closed comedones breakout
BACKSTORY: A few weeks ago I had no idea what was going on because my skin has never broken out before! I’ve practically had pretty clear skin all of my life. WHAT HAPPENED?? : I’m 22 now and I tried out oil cleansing to clear out my black heads... worst. mistake. of my life. It completely broke me out into tiny little bumps that were skin colored and it was gross genuinely gross. When I would wash my face or run my fingers on my face it was bumpy practically everywhere. Specifically my t zone forehand was minimal, cheeks around my nose, around my mouth and chin. My skin was super textured everywhere. Then BOOM!!! 💥 my face exploded into a ton of pimples one after the other it seemed like it was never going to get better. One would heal and 3 new ones would pop up. I tried everything underneath the sun. I had many breakdowns and breakouts! My skin is finally getting better and could not be more thankful!!!! WHAT BROKE ME OUT: DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil and Lip Cream Gift Set - This is really just is not for everyone. ROUTINE: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin - The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I find it drying but it’s been helping a lot!! #Dr. Eddie’s - Happy Cappy[products]#[FiveStars] - This contains zinc pyrthione which helps so much with acne, closed comedones, fungal acne and it’s a shampoo for babies so i found it to be really gentle on the skin CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 - again I didn’t find it to be super moisturizing, but it’s okay I need to find something non comedogenic that will help my stay hydrated. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • MY SKIN TYPE: I stripped down to the basics and just for reference I have comboish skin (oilier T zone, dry/normal everywhere else) although lately it’s been more dry since I started moisturizing which is odd but really I need to find a better moisturizer. **** These pictures were taken 6 days apart **** 📷 September 9th - September 15th I hope someone finds this helpful ❤️ if they have experienced an oil cleansing disaster like I did
The volition beauty Celery Green Cream with HA + Peptides. This cream is perfect for summer and those with oily skin. 🌱✨ Second, the dhc Uramai Line which includes the Soap, Lotion, and Cream. The packaging is gorgeous! The name, Urumai, is a hybrid of the Japanese words urumi (moisture) and mai (rice). These products contain ingredients such as rice peptides, ginger extract, aloe leaf juice, olive fruit oil, and silver ear mushroom. Suitable for all skin types, but ideal for dry and sensitive skin. ✨ . Last is the caudalie LE Beauty Elixir. It’s the same formula, just a new pretty pink bottle! For those of you who are not familiar, It a cult favorite mist that tones, tightens pores, sets makeup, and promotes a gorgeous glow. 🌱 ✨
I wish I had the words to describe how much love I have for DHC♦️ . If I had the words I would surely spill them out of my mouth. I keep trying their products and I am consistently amazed by the quality and effectiveness of them! ♦️ . Not to mention everything is super affordable and there is such a wide range of products for any skin type or concern. ♦️ . These are just a few products I’ve been testing out from DHC♦️ . They are: . The Astaxanthin Collagen All-in-One Gel: ———————————————————— . This gel (which is safe for all skin types) tones, hydrates, and brightens skin all in one step! It also of course contains Astaxanthin, which is an antioxidant that is said to be 6,000 times more powerful than Vitamin C. That’s pretty dang incredible! The brightening effects of this stuff makes me want to throw away all of my Vitamin C products and only use this, forever! ♥️ . The Tone Soothing Lotion: ————————————— This is a super mild and gentle toner that is formulated with serine to condition and alcloxa to soothe mild irritation. This toner is perfect for those with aggravated complexions and those with sensitive skin. I go for this toner after sun exposure or when I have a breakout because it’s so gentle and won’t irritate my skin. Did I mention that the bottle is glass? My favorite! ♥️ . The Olive Virgin Oil Swabs: ————————————— These little individually-wrapped 100% cotton swabs are saturated with Olive Oil. These are literally the best invention ever! They are perfect for cleaning up eyeliner and removing that stubborn makeup stuck in your eye creases and lashes. I can no longer live my life without these!♥️

Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 2
Hey y’all! This post is part 2 of my last post, which was me reviewing my followers skincare routines. That post would’ve been too long to do in one post, so here’s part 2! If you haven’t read part 1 I suggest you do, but this will still make sense if you haven’t. Someone messaged me concerned I was assuming pronouns, but I must assure you that I did ask. Our first routine comes from @matureskinwithErin. She starts off by cleansing with the#Murad - Resurgence Renewing Cleanser[products]#[TwoStars] which is $40 for 6.75 fl oz. This cleanser does have glycerin and a bunch of hydrating oils, but because of 2 ingredients I can’t in good faith support it. First is that it has fragrance, but the more important one is that it has lemon extract. Because lemon is a citrus fruit, it can be up to 5x more irritating in skincare. In general, you want to avoid all citrus extracts and oil. Next for a little bit of extra cleansing, she goes in with theBIODERMA - Sensibio H2O Soothing Micellar Cleansing Water which costs $14.90 for 16.7 fl oz. Because it’s a micellar water, there’s not a lot to say about it other than your getting a great deal. She then goes in with a Vitamin C serum, but I don’t know which one. I think is is unnecessary because of the next product that also has Vitamin C. Next she uses her LED light therapy mask (check out my resent post on these) with the#Paula’s Choice - RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum[products]#[FourStars] which costs $39 for 1 fl oz. This serum seems pretty good, even though it’s expensive. It has antioxidants including Vitamin E and C, Vitamin C also adds a brightening effect, and it has Ceramides, which help protect the skin from environmental damage such as pollution. Next she uses theDHC - Concentrated Eye Cream which is $35 for .7 fl oz. This eye cream seems to be really hydrating which is amazing for @matureskinwithErin’s dry skin! It has a lot of glycerin and squalane, both super hydrating ingredients, plus it has some cucumber extract, which is brightening and soothing. And finally she uses the#Paula’s Choice - CBD Oil + Retinol[products]#[FourStars] which is $54 for 1 fl oz. I do know that CBD oil and Retinol work great together to prevent severe aging, but as CBD oil is a new ingredient, there isn’t a ton of research. (For all about CBD check out my post on it) Not to mention this product also has Squalane! I think it’s a great product overall! BUT again we need some moisturizer and sunscreen! If y’all need recommendations, I can totally make a post and them! Our next routine comes from @EZ. She starts off by cleansing with the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser which is $14 for 16 fl oz. This a a great cleanser for normal to dry skin, and it had both glycerin and hylauronic acid. Next she goes in with the#Tonymoly - Vital Vita 12 Poresole Ampoule[products]#[ThreeStars] which costs $20 for 1 fl oz. This serum has a super long ingredients list, which is generally not a good thing in serums. Let’s start with the positives: this serum has Nicinamide, glycerin, squalane, lactic acid, Vitamin C, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid. The issue is that in between these awesome ingredients are tons of essential oils and extracts that can potentially irritate the skin. I went through and counted. There are 7 essential oils, and 12 extracts. If this product doesn’t irritate your skin @EZ, keep using it, but I have to warn people with sensitive skin to stay away. Now @EZ also uses 2 other treatments, but she never uses all 3 on the same day, which is an amazing practice to avoid irritation. Yes, your skin can breakout from too many ingredients! Now her first alternate treatment is#The Ordinary - Nicinamide serum[products]#[FiveStars] which is $5.90 for 1 fl oz. As you know, this is one of my favorite serums, super simple and efficient. Her other alternative treatment is the ordinary The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% which is $5.80 for 1 fl oz. The main ingredient in this is of course Vitamin C, and it also has a lot of squalane. So in her post she mentions that she has to mix this with her moisturizer otherwise it stings her face. I know exactly why. Most products with Vitamin C are formulated with 10-15%. Anything over this can be too much for people with sensitive skin such as @EZ because Vitamin C is very strong. I suggest you stop using this immediately, even mixed with moisturizer, because it’s clear your skin isn’t a fan. She also has 2 moisturizers that she switches out for. Her normal moisturizer is theCeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin which costs $11.99 for 8 fl oz. This a a super simple hydrating moisturizer which is great for combination skin like @EZ has. Her other moisturizer is theI DEW CARE - Say You Dew Moisturizing Vitamin C Gel + Cream which costs $23 for 1.69 fl oz. This is an interesting 2 in 1 moisturizer that you mix together. However I hate it. Here are the positives: glycerin, and nicinamide. And the negatives: it has a ton of fragrance, and a ton of irritating extracts and oils. One of those being lemon extract, which is awful. And finally she ends with a sunscreen with spf 50 (she doesn’t say which one). She says her sunscreen is greasy, so leave recommendations for her in the comments. I recommend theSupergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 and theLA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios Dermo-Kids Gentle Sunscreen Lotion SPF 60 . So here’s what I’d do @EZ: keep your cleanser, keep your 2 serums because they seem to work for you, ditch the Vitamin C cream, and ditch the I Dew Care moisturizer. Keep the other moisturizer though and hunt for a sunscreen you love. Alright y’all that’s all I have for today, but look out for pt. 3 coming sometime next week. Please cheer for this post, comment below your sunscreen recommendations for combination sensitive skin, and follow me for similar content! -Mae

DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil Love this cleansing oil! It is very simple and basic but that is it strength. It is simple yet effective and I really enjoy using it as a first step in my double cleanse. I don’t have much else to say about this other than I recommend it!
DHC-Deep Cleansing Oil
My fave oil cleanser! Great for oil plugs!
I find this cleansing oil to be a great consistency and I enjoy using it. But my absolute favorite way to use it is to massage my face with it with the goal of removing oil plugs. When normally using it, I massage it into my skin for a minute, rinse with warm water and then follow up with my regular cleanser. This is great for removing oils, make up, and sunscreen. But, as a treat I sometimes use it to remove oil plugs. After my shower I take 2 pumps of it and massage it into my face for about 10 minutes. After a couple minutes you’ll notice that you’ll have a few ‘oil plugs’ that you’ve massaged out of your skin. Once finished, wet a clean cloth with warm water and gentle remove the oil and follow up with my regular cleanser. I do this about once a week.
DHC-Deep Cleansing Oil
I picked up the dhc cleansing oil, one of the most raved about makeup removing products, and let me just say I’m glad I got it during the ulta sale lol It removes makeup pretty well, but it’s a thicker cleansing oil compared to ones I’ve used in the past. I find myself having to tug at my skin just to spread it around my face. It takes way too long to work into the skin. Love that it gets rid of almost all of my makeup but I don’t see myself repurchasing. It works well and does what it’s supposed to but it’s just too thick for my liking. If you don’t mind a thicker oil I suggest you pick this up. DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil .
DHC-Deep Cleansing Oil
In general I like oil cleansers better than balms because I'm lazy and I don't like the extra step of scooping out a balm with a spatula. But the AbyBom cleanser is lovely and would be one of my top choices if I preferred a balm. And as you can see I'm trying to use up my dhc skincare deep cleansing oil before I move on to others. The DHC is the oil to which I compare all others. It has a thicker consistency, which I like because it is less irritating when I massage it over my skin. It removes makeup well, even eye makeup, and it's one of the few cleansers I feel comfortable massaging over my eyes. I've been using the bonair nature blue oil cleanser too and it has a similar thick consistency and feels very soothing due to the azulene oil. It will be a good replacement for the DHC I think!
BONAIR-Blue Smoother Cleansing Oil
Comparing two Japanese oil cleansers: The dhc Deep Cleansing Oil ($28 ) and the Kose Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil (purchased for $9 from Amazon). ✨Both do a great job at removing makeup and emulsify when coming in contact with water to ensure a thorough wash. Neither leaves the skin feeling stripped or leaves any residue. Both have the same slight scent of vegetable oil. I always use these as the first step of a double cleanse. ✨The more expensive Cleanser from glowieco has a thicker consistency. It’s lovely, almost velvety, and feels like it’s actively conditioning my skin. I can tell that the Kose version is thinner; It doesn’t make my skin dryer, but it’s not moisturizing it either. ✨VERDICT: Kose gets the job done, but for trice the price, DHC’s Deep Cleansing Oil feels more luxe.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
