A year ago, I started being lazy and was not following my skin care routine. To give a little background about me, I’m a nurse who does shift work, so on days where I come off from a night shift, I would shower and only rinsed my face with water without using a cleanser. I then would apply my night cream and go to sleep. Fast forward, I started developing this tiny little bumps all over my face, occasional break out, hyperpigmentation and uneven texture. I would exfoliate at times but became inconsistent with it so It didn’t really clear up my skin. Back in March of this year, I became more frustrated as it was taking longer for me to clear up my skin and these tiny little bumps kept coming back (no they were not fungal acne as they were bigger in size and reddened)so I decided to change up my skin care products and made up a routine similar to the ones I see on my social media platform. SKIN TYPE Normal- Dry Combination Skin, Sensitive Morning Routine - Gentle Cleanser CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin - Vit C pura d'or - 20% Vitamin C Serum - Niacinamide The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - HA depending on my mood. I use different kinds . HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion or COSRX - Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence - Moisturizer if I feel like my face needs extra hydration otherwise I would skip this part CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin or LA ROCHE-POSAY - Lipikar Balm AP + Body Cream - SUNSCREEN!! LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50 or LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30 NIGHT ROUTINE - Double Cleanse heimish - Heimish All Clean Balm or The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser followed by CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin - Toner COSRX - AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner or PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator - If I am not using any of the toners mentioned above, then I would use this The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA On the nights I use retinol, I don’t use any chemical exfoliants at all PAULA'S CHOICE - Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment, 30ml - Moisturizer CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin -Facial Oil The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane or DERMA•E - Rejuvenating Sage & Lavender Face Oil This was my routine for 4 months. And now of course I’ve changed up few things in my routine. All of these products helped cleared up my skin issues. As you can see, my face is looking much better!!

Alright! Here’s Part 2 tips to rehydrating Color-treated/Highlighted dry hair! 1. Prepare to Revamp Your Haircare Routine! No, you don’t have to toss everything you have and buy all sorts of new things. On our first post, we talked about washing your hair less. Here’s how that can impact the products you choose/already have. When you wash your hair less, you’ll see more oil production on your scale and the rest of your hair. If you have a multitude of heavy hydrating/silicone based products and you continue to use them, you might start to get more build up on your scalp. Explore haircare products that may be lighter with their hydration. Do keep at least one product that is deep conditioning and use as needed or less of it as you go. More oil production/change + extra products that all focus on hydration/smoothing when your scalp is already trying to give you the oil that you need = more weight on your hair and possible extra build up. Hopefully, that makes sense. Now remember everyone is different, this is just based on my experience. What you can do is focus your haircare on “clarifying” the scalp (getting a shampoo that cleans the hair but not strip all the oils out of it. This is to avoid product build up for the time being. The bottle doesn’t have to say clarifying but do watch out for SLS, or sister ingredients similar to it. I absolutely prefer shampoos WITHOUT Sodium Lauryl Sulfate(SLS), as this is too harsh on the hair. This is an ingredient that is located everywhere, even dish soap). The photo shows a shampoo bar that I’ve been using and it’s awesome! You’ll have to find it on Etsy though. It’s 10 bucks and I’m still on my first bar! Focus on only cleaning the scalp area. The rest of whatever shampoo you use/have on your head will clean the middle to ends of your hair as you rinse it out. This will help avoid stripping the oils from your ends. As your hair grows and goes farther away from the scalp, the less oil there is in those areas. 2. Spot Treating With Hydrating Products I use a shampoo bar, conditioner bar, and an occasional leave in conditioner or hydration oil for “spot treatment”. Not every strand of hair is created equal. You may notice in some area you may have more damage, frizz, or dryness than others. The top of your hair may be nice and healthy and then the bottom might look like a rats nest. There’s no problem to that, but you may be a great candidate for “spot treatment”. Spot treatment is just adding a little bit of love to those specific areas that might need an extra bit of help. Experiment with different types of oils to use on your hair for extra hydration and focus it on areas that are more dry. I use pura d'or - Gold Argan Oil The oil may not be for you if you feel like it just “sits” on top of your hair rather than drying with it. Be mindful not to use to much either.

I have quite long hair and it's sometimes difficult to manage it and take care of it. This duo from @pura_dor has been saving my hair a lot lately. This formula is infused with vitamins and botanicals to help reduce hair thinning and hair falling. It has some amazing blend of herbal properties and oils like argan oil and amla oil. Amla oil is great for hair in all aspects and I'm glad this one contains it. This also has biotin to help strengthen the hair roots and prevent them from falling. I definitely see a difference in my hair in terms of hair fall. It's a great duo if you're looking for thickening your hair and preventing hair fall.
