Which Drugstore Gel Polish Reigns Supreme?
Do you all remember when drugstore gel polishes were all the rage a few years ago?! Everyone, including myself, coveted the extra shiny, long-lasting appeal of gel manicures but wanted quicker, more affordable alternatives. I must stress this - I’ve never had a professional gel mani. My comparisons are purely going to be based on longevity, color payoff, & shine. In this post I’m going to discuss 3 popular gel polishes at the drugstore: Sally Hansen - Miracle Gel , essie - Gel Couture Top Coat , and wet n wild - 1 Step WonderGel Nail Color . All of these formulas claim to be long-wearing, high-shine, & don’t need a UV lamp to cure like traditional gel polishes. Sally Hansen: I’m wearing the shade “tidal wave” on my thumbs & pinkies (only left hand photographed). This formula is opaque in 2 coats, has a shiny finish, and easy to apply. I topped it with its matching top coat Sally Hansen - Miracle Gel Top Coat for extra shine. I purchased this shade & top coat as a set for approx $16 a few years ago, and have not had issues with the formulas changing over time. I have 1 other shade (discontinued). They retail for $7-10 each depending where you purchase. Honestly, this formula is not worth the hype or price. This shade lasts longer on me than the other one, but no where near the brand’s claims of being long-wearing. I find that my polish chips within 2-3 days and it’s downhill from there. Easily removable with any polish remover. Essie: I’m wearing “once upon a time” on my index & ring fingers. I received this & essie - Gel Couture Top Coat in an Influenster box a few years ago. The formula has not changed over time. This shade is opaque in 2 coats, shiny, and easy to apply. Sets with a polish & top coat are $18-20 and single polishes around $10-11 depending where you purchase. The formula is true to its claims of even coverage, shine, & fade-resistant. I find this to last about the same time as the WnW polishes (keep reading!). Again, for that reason, not worth the hype or price. Easily removable with any polish remover. Wet n Wild: These are the cheapest at around $5 ea. The 2 downsides are the shade range is significantly smaller (WNW ~ 10, sally hansen ~ 100, Essie ~ 45) & availability. It appears WNW has discontinued most of this line, but you can still find them at Walgreens.com and on the WNW website. This particular shade on my middle finger, “stay classy”, is one of my all-time fave polishes I’ve worn a lot over the last few years. I also have teal shade & the formula is consistent. It’s easy to apply, opaque in 2 coats, and shiny on its own (the 1-step claim) or with Seche - Vite Dry Fast Clear Top Coat This lasts around 3 days without chipping. Easily removable. Because it lasts about the same time as its more expensive counterparts, I recommend these instead. #CheriePartner

Mermaid Polish🧜‍♀️ Same Brand Dupe?
Sally Hansen - Color Therapy Nail Polish Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri X Jelly Belly Nail Polish Similarities: - Both are from Sally Hansen which is famous for their polishes and nail products - Both have two-color tones - Both have blue base Differences - Sally Hansen Salon Manicure has 14.7ml (0.5 oz) comparing to Sally Hansen insta-dry Matte 9.17 ml (0.3 oz) - Salon Manicure is $15 CAD vs Insta-dry Matte $8 CAD (almost double the other) - The Salon Manicure does appear to be more hollow, when actually apply it, you can tell that this one is super jampacked with holo pigment - After two layers, the salon manicure series is perfect set and ready to finish ( actually one layer is good enough, if you do want extra hallow pigment, you can go with a second layer) but the insta-dry matte series, it is not as clear as the other, and you actually need a third layer to get the perfect finish. - The formula is thicker in Salon Manicure, but the consistency is very good and fluid. And it doesnt dragging the brush. It floats super nicely across the nail. - My opinion - I personally really love the Salon Manicure. Although both polish are from Sally Hansen, this one definitely wins over the other in every area. I love the fact that you can see the formula is a two-toned color, you can actually see the color shifting when turning it into different angles. And it appears the same on your nails. It has a perfect combination of blue and purple with purple pearl shimmer to keep the nail going strong.

I’ve been testing out the versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream & the omi nutrition Get Even Day Cream. I prefer to use the Versed at night & the OMI Nutrition in the mornings. ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is my first product from Versed & it’s pretty hydrating. I like the texture & that it doesn’t have fragrance. The OMI has been holding up well under my makeup so far which is huge plus. And I love that the packaging has durability & weight to it.👍🏾 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ll post about these two in more detail after I use them for a while. I’m hoping I continue to like them because I always struggle to find suitable moisturizers. 💯 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, I picked up this lovely sally hansen Insta-Dri polish in shade Thyme is Money & I can’t wait to paint my toenails with it. 😍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

How to grow strong nails 💪🏾
📅 november 2020. after seeing @annkrisha's post on cherie, i decided to follow her steps. you can see my progress in a month. 👝 so I bought the gummies and a nail treatment. 🍓 the gummies NATURE'S BOUNTY - Optimal Solutions Hair, Skin and Nails Gummies i took the strawberry cream flavour, because it's made with biotin. 🍊 there's an orange flavor but it's made with collagen. 👩🏾‍🔬 but what is biotin? it's a water- soluble B vitamin that helps your body convert food into energy. in German, it is called H vitamin. the H stands for "Haar und Haut" which means "hair and skin". 💉 you take 2 gummies per day, a few hours before or after another medication to avoid interactions. they help to support: nail health maintain health of normal hair and skin maintain good health (wound healing, metabolism...). 🤔 in the past, I tried the Centrum - Multi+ Beauty Gummies Natural Cherry, Berry & Orange but I didn't like the taste. I did see some improvement in the nail area though. 💗 the nail treatment: Sally Hansen - Nail Rehab it is an intensive strengthening treatment. "the jasmin, rose and vitamin E formula helps strengthen and protect your nails, instantly fill in ridges and hide imperfections". 🔎 you apply 1 or 2 coats, as needed. after a week, remove and re-apply. you can also use it as a base coat. 🤗 my nails are growing strong! i recommend this. thx for reading! #CheriePartner

LET'S TALK ABOUT ACRYLICS! (PT.2) 😌💅🏼
Psst... Before we get started I definitely recommend checking out part one I talk about choosing a nail shape, different types of nail finishes, and I shared some nail inspo for fall and Halloween! In this part I'll be discussing some tips to maintain healthy nails, preventing breakage, and how to safely remove acrylics! So if you're ready, let's begin. ACRYLIC NAIL MAINTENANCE: BE GENTLE! this goes for people with and without acrylics you have to treat your nails with care or they can break. it seems simple enough but please be careful opening soda cans, prying things open, or just being rough on your hands. KEEP DRY! this is a big one especially for myself, I definitely recommend wearing dishwashing gloves and dusting your nails with baby powder to reduce moisture in the area. when your nails remain wet they are more likely to become weak. AVOID ACETONE! unless you want to remove your acrylic stray far away from acetone. just like you wokd assume, acetone will weaken and soften your nails therefore weakening your acrylics & increasing your chances of breakage. WASHING! using a q-tip and rubbing alcohol will help remove debris and kill bacteria that are in your nails. this will prevent any infections and also maintain healthy nail beds. NAIL OIL! nail oils will prevent cracking and promote healthy cuticles. i use Sally Hansen - Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil it comes with an application brush & i apply before bed. other oil recommendations that work are: jojoba & grapeseed. the biggest thing is to just keep your hands moisturized like you always should! APPLY CLEAR POLISH! apply polish once a week to seal any micro fractures. this is not an option over getting a FILL! you should schedule fills every 2 to 3 weeks (if you can) to prevent infection, breakage, and maintain nail appearance. BE AWARE WHEN DIY'ing! without proper instruction you can do more harm than good to your nails. It's recommended that if you caused any damage to your nails call the salon immediately to see what can be done! always try to attend to a broken nail as soon as possible to prevent any further, worse damage. Next we will talk about safe, at-home removal. Just in case you can't make it to the salon or yours isn't open! there are some targeted products for acrylic nail removal but I have never personally used any so I don't feel comfortable recommending them to you. WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 100% acetone Metal cuticle pusher (Optional) Nail clips, tin foil, small bowl, cotton balls THE PROCESS: First, using the option of your choice, soak your nails (or use nail clips/tin foil to hold acetone soaked cotton ball in place) for 15 minutes. Then, use the metal cuticle pusher to start peeling acrylic off. go in the direction of nail growth. After first soak, redip & soak for 5 minutes. Continue to peel. Repeat 5 min process until nail is completely removed. THAT'S IT! Thank you for reading. ❤️ Stay tunes for more!

FRENCH MANICURE: for 3 different occasions
A French manicure is a classic style that will never let you down. It's simplicity makes any woman look elegant. Today I am sharing with you 3 ways to wear this style depending on the ocasion. 1. Work: a classic French manicure is work appropriate. Keep the white part thin to make your nails look longer. Sally Hansen - Good. Kind. Pure. Nail Color I love using the Sally hansen nail polish since it makes my nail polish last longer than other brands, plus it's organic 😁 2. Wedding: add a 3D nail sticker to your ring finger nail to make this look so romantic and beautiful. That little detail will bring attention to your beautiful wedding ring. Try this ones KLEANCOLOR - 3D Nail Art Stickers 3. Prom: add some glitter nail polish to one of your nails to create a more glam look. You can just add it to the ring finger nail or add it on top of the white part for extra glam. I like using essie - Luxeffects Glitter Top Coat

Nail polish tips!
Nail polish can be tricky, especially if you do it yourself. Here are some tips to help you get a better finish and longevity. 1. Push back your cuticles with an orange stick. This step will help you get a more smooth finish and also to keep your nails healthy. 2. File and gently buff your nails, by doing so you are preparing your nails and it will help to keep your nail polish looking better for longer. 3. Base and top coat are super important to extend the life of your nails polish. So invest in a good quantity one like OPI - Nail Lacquer Base Coat OPI - OPI Top Coat The are under $15 but excellent 4. Allow a few minutes between layers will make a big difference in the way your nail polish look. Also apply thine layers is always best. I recently try the Sally Hansen - Good. Kind. Pure. Nail Color and I am very impressed, not only because it is VEGAN but because it last longer than other nail polish and it is super affordable, under $10, and you can find them at Walmart and pretty much every where. 5. In order to cut down drying process you should definitely try OPI - Drip Dry Lacquer Drying Drops I highly recommend, it really gets the job done

✨ Do's and Don'ts: How to get flawless, healthy nails
Healthy, shiny, and strong nails are not an unachievable dream if you take the right way to take care of them. Here're some simple do's and don'ts to help! Fingernail care: Do's Brush your nails Scrub your nails and skin with a toothbrush frequently can remove and exfoliate dead skin around your nails, and keep your fingers clean to prevent nail infections. Use moisturizers Cleaning is wonderful, but it can also lead to dryness of your nail bed. Therefore, it's recommended to use a moisturizer like cuticle creams or cuticle oils likePACIfICA - Coconut Rehab Nourishing Cuticle Oil for hydration. The products containing coconut oils work really well to bring back the much-needed moisture to your skin. Apply a protective layer A good nail strengthener is really helpful for nail protection. Some nail strengtheners even get beautiful tints to cover nail imperfections. My favorite nail strengthener is Sally Hansen - Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener, which helps me to reinforce my weak nails amazingly! Fingernail care: Don'ts Bite your fingernails or pick at your cuticles These nasty habits can damage your nail bed, making it easier for bacteria or fungi to enter and cause a nail infection. Use harsh nail polishes. Avoid nail polishes with toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, and toluene, because they can weaken your nails and make them brittle and split. If you find it too troublesome to choose, go to water-based polishes, which are the safest option for your natural nails. I recommend OPI if you still have no clue, as their products are really gentle and safe to use. My favorite one is OPI - Long Lasting Nail Polish Infinite Shine 2which has lovely and long-lasting color! Frequent use of nail polish remover The first thing you should make sure is to limit your use of nail polish remover. If you have to, then opt for an acetone-free formula, for example, MAVALA - Crystal Acetone Free Nail Polish Remover, which is more gentle. In the picture, I posted one hand with those nail care tips while another without for comparison, so you guys can see how important it can be to do your manicures with proper tips!  Hope these tips can help! What're your nail care tips? Share your ideas below plz!

Sally Hansen - Nail Rehab Oil Cuticle Balm The product itself is great and is in my nail care routine but the applicator is not good. I feel it could be smaller to allow for easier application. The product itself is amazing. It’s not oily and you can do things without having the product go everywhere. Its very helpful and helps my cuticles grow in correctly. I used to bite my nails for a very long time and so my cuticles have been terribly dry and grow in incorrectly. Using this has helped a ton.
