guess I'm just a PLAY DATE to you
This shade is called Play date, which I think is an adorable name for a nail paint. It is a really pretty purple polish. You just need 2 coats for an ultimate finish. I love to top it off with Essie gel top coat.

3 Most Common Nail Mistakes You’ll Want To Avoid &How To Fix Them!
Since the pandemic started, I’ve had to do my own nails more often. My go-to nail salon has been closed for months. DIY manicures can be a little annoying if you don’t know what you’re doing. I’m telling you my mistakes so you can learn from what I did wrong. My Top 3 Nail Mistakes: 1. Only using one coat of polish I’m the first to admit it, I can be pretty lazy, but one coat of nail polish just doesn’t cut it. I know doing two coats takes more effort and adds to the drying time, but it’s so worth it in the end. 2. Not focusing enough on nail care Nail care is a game-changer! You need to buff, file, and cut your nails before applying polish to get the best results. Buffing really helps smooth out any ridges or inconsistencies on the nail bed. 3. Using a bad top & base coat Do you know that glossy top coat you get from at salons that makes your nails look super shiny and perfect? I didn’t use to care about which base or topcoat I used. I would just use the cheapest one available at the drug store. What a mistake! My Must-Try Nail Products: ●     Seche Vite Base & Top Coat - The Sechevete base and top coats give you that salon-worthy shine you want from a DIY mani. Plus, it helps dry the nails super fast so you can get on with your day! ●     Nail Buff - This thing was only $1, and it’s helped transform the way I give myself manicures! ●     A glass nail file - Did you know glass nail filers are supposed to be healthier for your natural nails? The Final Look I did this fun look for the 4th of July! I filed and buffed my nails with the white buffer and topped them with two coats of my favorite nail polishes by Essie!

Fall Nail Wardrobe 💅🏻
With fall here, I love switching up my nail colors to compliment my outfits and keep my hands on theme with the seasons. Here are my favorite polishes for fall! Starting, deborah lippmann - Gel Lab Pro Nail Color I love a cool/neutral toned red, and this delivers on all fronts. It’s creamy and opaque and glides on nails easily with little running, meaning little clean-up. It compliments all skin tones, and looks great from light to deep nails. It’s very festive, but classy for all occasions and can be dressed up or down— it looks so cute with fall neutrals like caramel or camel colours! I go about 12-13 days without chipping or peeling, and it stays very shiny. Next is OPI - Infinite Shine Nail Polish Strengthening in Ginger’s Revenge. This is a deep blood red, one of my favorites for fall. I love the bougie and spooky feel it gives, while being dark and neutral enough to match with all of my outfits. I love wearing it with black and gunmetal/silver accessories to really amp up the cool vampy vibe. Third, a nice berry is a must! essie - Longwear Nail Polish is super shiny and doesn’t chip until about 11 days in. It looks polished and put together, but still super fun. If I want something pink hued I’ll go for this, as it’s still red enough to not look out of place with my other fall colours. It looks super professional, and I love wearing it on my shorter natural nails at the start of fall for a nice transition shade into darker colours without feeling too vampy. Chipping is not an issue I noticed, I took the colour off before any happened. FLOSS GLOSS - Candy Paint Job is a deep sparkly grape purple, and is to die for. I love this for holiday parties or New Years when I don’t want a traditional red. I always get comments on how pretty this is, it looks like liquid glitter on the nail even when dry. Wearing white or black with these nails is elite and really lets them stand out with sparkle and shine. Chipping appears around day 8. For lighter colours, gray and sky blue are a must. Here I have butter LONDON - Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer in gray, and OLIVE&JUNE - KMC which is a light cool blue. Both of these go great with warm tones, as the cool of the gray and blue plays off of more orange-y spice tones and looks super luxurious. Chipping doesn’t appear until about day 12. Lastly, neutrals! I’ve included two— one super sheer that goes with everything, and a warmer brownish-mauve colour. Though they’re titled OLIVE&JUNE - The Spring Set I use them as transitional neutrals for fall as well. They can be played up in warmth, or made to look sheer and natural on all nails. These colours immediately give a classy natural look to all nails during the season of neutrals, and remind me of a nice warm sweater or scarf.

THREE TIPS FOR SALON-WORTHY NAILS
So here’s the thing - I get asked ALL THE TIME how much I paid to get my nails done. The kicker? I don’t pay to get them done - I’ve done my own nails for YEARS and I’ve perfected my technique for making them look like I got them done in the salon - even though they’re just regular nail polish. Here are my top three tips for perfect nails (no more mistakes) ➡️Sit at a table to do your nails You have GOT TO STOP trying to paint your nails while sitting on your couch or on the floor (unless you’re giving yourself a pedicure). Painting your nails while sitting at a table ensures that your hands are on a flat, stable surface so you have more control of the nail polish and are less likely to flood your cuticles, or look like a child tried to paint your nails. ➡️Always use top coat and base coat A quality top and base coat will make your nail polish look better and last longer. It’s honestly what matters more than the brand of polish you use - it will make dollar store, drugstore, or department store nail polish ALL look equally amazing and salon-worthy. Seche - Vite Dry Fast Clear Top Coat duri - Rejuvacote 1 Nail Growth System ➡️Don’t overload your brush with polish Trying to get a mani done quicker by painting a too thick layer on of polish is totally counter-intuitive. First, you’re more likely to do a messy paint job because you can’t control the polish and it will just go everywhere. Second, it’s going to take AGES to dry - much longer than thinner two coats of polish! These are my three top tips for salon-worthy nails - and they’ve never let me down! The shade of polish in the photo is Essie Van D’Go, a gorgeous peach shade. essie - Longwear Nail Polish

Which Drugstore Gel Polish Reigns Supreme?
Do you all remember when drugstore gel polishes were all the rage a few years ago?! Everyone, including myself, coveted the extra shiny, long-lasting appeal of gel manicures but wanted quicker, more affordable alternatives. I must stress this - I’ve never had a professional gel mani. My comparisons are purely going to be based on longevity, color payoff, & shine. In this post I’m going to discuss 3 popular gel polishes at the drugstore: Sally Hansen - Miracle Gel , essie - Gel Couture Top Coat , and wet n wild - 1 Step WonderGel Nail Color . All of these formulas claim to be long-wearing, high-shine, & don’t need a UV lamp to cure like traditional gel polishes. Sally Hansen: I’m wearing the shade “tidal wave” on my thumbs & pinkies (only left hand photographed). This formula is opaque in 2 coats, has a shiny finish, and easy to apply. I topped it with its matching top coat Sally Hansen - Miracle Gel Top Coat for extra shine. I purchased this shade & top coat as a set for approx $16 a few years ago, and have not had issues with the formulas changing over time. I have 1 other shade (discontinued). They retail for $7-10 each depending where you purchase. Honestly, this formula is not worth the hype or price. This shade lasts longer on me than the other one, but no where near the brand’s claims of being long-wearing. I find that my polish chips within 2-3 days and it’s downhill from there. Easily removable with any polish remover. Essie: I’m wearing “once upon a time” on my index & ring fingers. I received this & essie - Gel Couture Top Coat in an Influenster box a few years ago. The formula has not changed over time. This shade is opaque in 2 coats, shiny, and easy to apply. Sets with a polish & top coat are $18-20 and single polishes around $10-11 depending where you purchase. The formula is true to its claims of even coverage, shine, & fade-resistant. I find this to last about the same time as the WnW polishes (keep reading!). Again, for that reason, not worth the hype or price. Easily removable with any polish remover. Wet n Wild: These are the cheapest at around $5 ea. The 2 downsides are the shade range is significantly smaller (WNW ~ 10, sally hansen ~ 100, Essie ~ 45) & availability. It appears WNW has discontinued most of this line, but you can still find them at Walgreens.com and on the WNW website. This particular shade on my middle finger, “stay classy”, is one of my all-time fave polishes I’ve worn a lot over the last few years. I also have teal shade & the formula is consistent. It’s easy to apply, opaque in 2 coats, and shiny on its own (the 1-step claim) or with Seche - Vite Dry Fast Clear Top Coat This lasts around 3 days without chipping. Easily removable. Because it lasts about the same time as its more expensive counterparts, I recommend these instead. #CheriePartner

My Quarantine Manicure 💅🏻
essie - Gel Couture Top Coat essie - Longwear Nail Polish #cheriepartner This is the manicure I’ve been loving since March! I actually love doing my own nails as opposed to going to a salon! Here are the steps I take: 1. Clean and scrub nails 2. Remove old polish 3. Push back cuticles 4. Apply three thin layers of Essie Gel Couture polish (this shade is ‘Haute to Trot’) 5. Apply Essie Gel Topcoat I’ve been using the Essie Gel Couture polishes lately and I love how shiny they are! They dry super quickly and don’t chip easily. How gorgeous is this shade too!? I love hot pinks for summer. What is your summer manicure shade?

MY CURRENT FAVE DRUGSTORE POLISH
Do you ever love a nail polish colour so much that whenever it’s time to do your nails, you just put the same colour on again? That’s how I feel about this peachy nude polish from Maybelline. It’s from their Super Stay line and it’s called Poet. I got this bottle at Chemist Warehouse for NZ $7-ish, and it’s quickly shot to my favourite colours list. What do I like about it? ➡️ It has a REALLY opaque formula. This nail polish is really a one-coater in every sense of the word. I can get away with applying one coat of this before topcoat, but it feels wrong to only do one! It’s flawless in two coats and always looks perfect. ➡️ The wide brush makes application easy. Seriously - the wide brush fits my cuticles so easily that I can get in there and close without flooding them. I’m pretty sure that these are the standard for nail polish these days, but it never goes unappreciated because it makes it so much easier to get perfect nails. ➡️ It definitely lasts 7 days (and more) If you follow me on my blog, you’ll know that I strongly believe in the importance of topcoat and basecoat making a manicure last. However, even without topcoat, I found that this polish lasted the full 7 days. I actually got 10 days wear with my full top/basecoat routine of essie - Gel.Setter Top Coat and duri - Rejuvacote 1 Nail Growth System .

Nail accent
I love doing a simple look with an accent. Adding a glitter top coat to one nail does just that for me 😍😍essie - Luxeffects Glitter Top Coat in shade “A Cut Above”. This is a clear nail polish with lots ld pink glitter “confetti” pieces. essie - Enamel Nail Polish in shade Ballet slippers- a translucent pale pink shade. This is a great pinky nude nail polish for fair-light skin tones. This is such an easy look to achieve- all I did was apply two coats of Ballet slippers to all my nails, except my ring finger- For that nail I applied one coat. The second coat was the glitter luxe top coat in “a cut above”. I followed up with essie - Gel.Setter Top Coat on all my nails to achieve that gel polish finish. This is also great because it helps your nails dry faster! The one thing I will say about the essie - Luxeffects Glitter Top Coat polish is that its hard to remove since all the glitter pieces are solid pieces that dont come off with acetone. They need to be scraped off with a nail scraper (a flat end) . Having a coat of nail polish underneath the glitter helps in the scraping process since you wont be directly scraping your nail.

Brow Lamination At Home!
Swipe for a before pic!! This was the easiest thing to do!! I used this kit from amazon essie - Lash Lift Kit Upgraded Version Glue Complete Eyelash Perm Kit it costs $19.99 Follow the instructions on the back of the kit BUT...DO NOT leave it on for the full 8-12 minutes. I have sparse brows and the first time i did this about a year ago a lot of my brow hairs fell out. I got bold again about a month ago and decided to try it again but just leave it on for less time and it worked PERFECTLY! So if you have sparse brows like mine, I recommend leaving it on for 4 minutes. But if your brows are thick you may need to leave it on for longer! But honestly to be safe, i would start off trying 4 minutes and then if you think it didn’t laminate them enough, just wait a few weeks and try again! It’s definitely better to be safe than sorry!! This lasted for about a month for me! I also dye my brows too, but I waited about 2-3 days to dye them after laminating them just to be safe!

step up your AT HOME brow game !!!
I have naturally sad brows :( and have been curious about brow lamination for a while now! However, quarantine meant all the pros were closed, not to mention most of us are living life on a pretty tight budget atm ♡ I picked up this essie - Lash Lift Kit Upgraded Version Glue Complete Eyelash Perm Kit kit for under $30 and it ROCKED MY WORLD !!🥺 Read for at home brow lamination steps 👇 1. Use the cleansing solution or a mild face cleanser to remove any residue from your brows (I like to use a Q-tip). 2. Using the lash glue and a spoolie, brush your brows into their desired shape and let the glue dry for 1 minute. 3. Apply the perm solution (the smell is not cute but its 100% normal) and cover your brows with plastic wrap for 10 mins! Set that timer!!! 🕑🕒🕔 4. Remove the perm solution by wiping firmly with a paper towel. 5. Apply the fixing solution and cover your brows with a clean piece of plastic wrap for another 10 mins. 🕕🕖🕘 6. Remove the fixing solution by wiping firmly with paper towel, and then use the cleansing solution with a spoolie to make sure all product is removed. 7. Comb through your brows with the “nutrition” solution or a gentle face oil - gently brush into your desired shape! *try to avoid touching your brows for the next 24 hours!!! *DO NOT get your brows wet for 24 hours after applying I love this stuff and it has made styling my brows a breeze. It doesn’t last as long as in salon treatments, but does the job for me! I have used this kit 3 times and still have lots left. It also works great for lashes (be careful!). As always do a patch test before hand - I have fairly sensitive skin but have not had any negative reactions to these products. Finally, never use on broken skin! Wait until the area surrounding your brows has cleared to try this out ♡ Let me know if you try this!! And if you have any tips!!

FRENCH MANICURE: for 3 different occasions
A French manicure is a classic style that will never let you down. It's simplicity makes any woman look elegant. Today I am sharing with you 3 ways to wear this style depending on the ocasion. 1. Work: a classic French manicure is work appropriate. Keep the white part thin to make your nails look longer. Sally Hansen - Good. Kind. Pure. Nail Color I love using the Sally hansen nail polish since it makes my nail polish last longer than other brands, plus it's organic 😁 2. Wedding: add a 3D nail sticker to your ring finger nail to make this look so romantic and beautiful. That little detail will bring attention to your beautiful wedding ring. Try this ones KLEANCOLOR - 3D Nail Art Stickers 3. Prom: add some glitter nail polish to one of your nails to create a more glam look. You can just add it to the ring finger nail or add it on top of the white part for extra glam. I like using essie - Luxeffects Glitter Top Coat

How to fix smudged nails easily! 💅🏽
✨ Smudged nails are the worst! After spending all your time and coordination paint your nails, it is super frustrating to see them smudge. UGH! Here’s a quick tip on how to easily fix those smudged nails in under 1-minute! Depending on how had smudged your nail(s) is/are, take a small amount of nail polish remover and using just one finger, dip it into the remover and rub it over the nail. Repeat this step until most of the smudges are gone and reapply an extra coat of polish if needed. ✨ Tips on how to avoid smudges: + Make sure you’re not using too much polish! If your over-coating your nails, it will be harder and take longer to for your nails to fully dry down + Use a quick dry top coat: my current favorite is from essie - All in One 3 Way Glaze Base + Top Coat + Helps Strengthen This will allow your nails dry down in a fraction of the time it would typically take for your nails to dry. + Avoid doing too many activities that can cause smudging: washing dishes, cleaning, etc.. Im currently using a CVS brand nail polish remover, but much prefer acetone removers. This one I’m using is from CVS and is an easy drugstore pick-up! Halloween Nails 👻 🕸 A Step by Step Guide
🎃 Spooky season is among us and what better way to celebrate than with some spooky season nails! Products used: +SINFULCOLOR - SINFULCOLOR Professional Nail Polish in colors Black on Black & Snow Me White +essie - All in One 3 Way Glaze Base + Top Coat + Helps Strengthen +KISS - Maximum Speed Nail Glue + any nail gems! ✨ 1. Start by laying your base coat and letting that dry for a couple of minutes 2. Paint your first coat of black and let that dry before applying another layer - this will help you avoid streaks in your paint job 3. Take any thin paint brush, and using the white nail color, create a diagonal line across the middle of the nail, then another above that line, and one right below 4. Taking that’s same brush, create tiny loops between the lines and continue doing this until you have your web - you can absolutely stop here if you want to stop but I decided to add some extra razzle dazzle to my nails 5. Using a couple nail gems I had, I applied one gem at both corners of nail using the KISS - Maximum Speed Nail Glue 6. When everything has dried down, I secure it in with another coat of my essie - All in One 3 Way Glaze Base + Top Coat + Helps Strengthen These polishes are great for those on a budget, however the consistency was a bit thin. I had to use 2-3 coats to get the black very opaque. These polishes are not organic, and have similar formulation to other drugstore brands like Sally Hansen and OPI. If you are looking for polishes with a *cleaner* formulation, I would suggest Ella + Mila or Pacifica. Hope this helps! HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 🎃 #CheriePartner

I found the dupe for Chanel finally!!! Saved me so much money!💴
When it comes to the changeover period between autumn and winter, the happiest thing is that clothes, shoes, bags, lipsticks, and all the “equipment” can be replaced with new ones. But such a set usually costs a lot of budgets. If you want a cheap and nice-looking single item to welcome autumn and winter, then you must buy nail polish!! Although there are many top brands (such as Chanel, Dior) producing nail polishes and have been widely praised, don't be disappointed if your budget is short. Dupes always exist and sometimes even give you unexpected results. Take nail polish alone, let me tell you a secret that Essie absolutely can be a dupe for Chanel!!! These two brands must be familiar to everyone, but Essie only costs one-third of Chanel’s price to achieve the same magical effect, based on a funny comparison I did with my friend the other day. Also, their nail polishes are non-toxic: Chanel nail polish is 5-free, and Essie's is 3-free. One of my friends is also crazy about nail art, like me. We ordered Chanel Mirage together, a very hot color on the Internet. And we both thought that Essie Island Hopping is the nearest color to it after repeated comparisons, so we purchased it too. We each painted one color, as you can see the final results in the picture, they are exactly the same!!! The pretty purple is so gentle and perfect for fall. They set your hands off to snow white. I have to say that Chanel has nothing wrong with it except that its expensive price. But Essie is also no less striking. Essie polish is smooth to apply and dries fast, providing flawless coverage. But you need to do a minimum of 2 layers, as it is very transparent and thin at first. As for the durability, it started chipping on day 4 but not terribly. I can't get any other brands to last longer than 2 days without chipping even using a base coat and topcoat. Chanel had a little longer wearing but also broke after several days. I am so happy with this nail polish dupe. The most important thing is that it saves me money!!!

The longest lasting polish to date.
The longest lasting polish to date.
Longevity. 👏🏻 Longevity. 👏🏻 Longevity. 👏🏻 It’s the most sacred trait in a polish for me. I’ve tried many. To date, this is the longest lasting polish I know of for at home mani’s. The application process seems like it was designed for ease. The brush, the opacity, the consistency. This product line is a true gift to neurotic nail polish consumers.

I finally did the lash kit! The glue that came with it was garbage and I had to go buy the Duo glue (crazy good stuff). If you wear falsies get that Duo glue for sure. Overall, it was very uncomfortable on my sensitive eyes and the results were not as dramatic as I’d hoped for the level of discomfort I was in for about 45 min. I think I will definitely tint them again but I’m not so sure about the lift. Stay tuned on that one to see if I torture myself again. essie - Lash Lift Kit Upgraded Version Glue Complete Eyelash Perm Kit DUO - DUO Brush-on Adhesive Refectocil - Eyelash and Eyebrow Tint

I thought it was time to get rid of my festival nails, they were looking pretty sorry for themselves. My nails weaken after a shellac (it’s not the kindest thing for your nails). I found this nail varnish in Superdrug by essie. A nail colour thats breathable with a nail caring formula infused with collagen and camellia extract. It has been designed to strengthen your nails preventing peeling and breakage. No base or top coat needed. The colours gorgeous too. It’s called “good lighting” I also picked up a coral shade called “crunch time”.

White!!! Even though white is a very simplistic color it is my personal favorite color for my nails. If you have a lighter skin tone it will make you look tanner and if you have a darker skin to the it will contrast beautifully. Either way white is still flattering. It also goes with everything so you don’t need to worry about mismatching. If you want something more exiting than white you could go with a light pink or purple. If you are going to a fancy event than I suggest getting a french manicured. This is the color I most recommend! 💅💅💅

✨Nude / natural look is the new vibe✨ -I was a little hesitant when I purchased this nail polish color, only because I always wear pink; I have several different shades lol. This color by essie - Enamel Nail Polish is called “ballet slippers” & I absolute love it. Pros: If you love white, off white, pearl or super light pink, you’d love this natural tone on your nails. I believe this can be worn during any time of the year! Cons: You have to use at least 3 coats. It does look nice with 2 but it’s a bit see through... I’d recommend 3 coats, which of course means more drying time. BUT.... it’s worth it in the end!
