Saying Goodbye 👋🏼
This past year I’ve been very aware of my purchases and also very cautious about what I’m bringing into my makeup/beauty collection. Every once and a while I will do a little bit of a declutter and make sure I’m only keeping the things that I’m using on a weekly, or at least monthly basis. This most recent declutter I noticed these two products and realized I haven’t reached for them in months. OFRA - OFRA Highlighter is a beautiful formula- it’s what makes these so many people’s favorite highlighter, it easily glides over the top of whatever product you have underneath and gives you an intense glow. The only reason I’m getting rid of this is because my taste in highlighters have changed and I now like much more soft, more of a “lit from within” type of glow. A couple highlighters that I love and give me this effect are the MARC JACOBS BEAUTY - Irresistible Glow Highlighter Collection & my ride or die MAYA CHIA - The Highlight of the Day The #SGX NYC - So Whipped[products]#[FourStars] is a whipped mousse formula that is supposed to calm frizz, define natural curls, and create a little bit of hold- I do think that this does all of these things, but it’s in the smallest way and I have so many other products that give me better results! Currently I’m obsessed with the eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer it smells unbelievable and gives my hair such a smooth texture without getting weighed down! The spray nozzle gives the lightest diffused mist so it’s very difficult to overdo it and use too much, highly highly recommend this one! I’ve found regular declutters and being deliberate about what products I bring into my collection really helpful. It’s let me find what my personal taste is and which products I’ll tend to gravitate for and will actually use on a daily basis!

Battle of the Budget 10-in-1s!
I’m all about low maintenance hair and saving money, so of course I have to review these 2 drugstore hair primers. I’ll be breaking down the winner by category and tallying the winner! Round 1: price- both are a standard 6 oz, but NYM is $7 while Eva is $12. Both are affordable but NYM wins this one. Round 2: texture- Eva is definitely the heavier of the 2 options, you can tell by the fineness of the mist. This is likely due to it’s high amount of oils in the ingredient lists, which is very good for moisture. Personally tho, since my hair is straight and fine, this tends to weight down my hair. Contrastingly, the NYM first ingredient is water which is probably why it’s lighter and cheaper. This round is a tie. Round 3: scent- Both of these are scented with fragrance showing up in the middle of the ingredients list. The Eva product is a stronger, fruity scent that is close to Viva la Juicy perfume, a personal classic of middle school. The NYM is also sweet, but closer to candy than fruit. It’s also lighter than Eva. This round is subjective for sure, but I give it to Eva since I prefer a strong scent if something is scented. Round 4: usage- by this I mean does it really do 10 things? Eva doesn’t list the 10 things on the bottle, but NYM claims to add body, detangle, add shine, protect, moisturize, control frizz, repair dry hair, heat protection, mend split ends, and create silkiness. I think a few of those are repeats, however the one it doesn’t follow through on is repairing dry hair. When I used NYM, I had to add an additional leave-in conditioner to keep my ends from looking dry. Eva doesn’t add body for me since it can make my hair look oily. Again, a tie! Round 5: flexibility- I find that I’m able to use NYM in more situations than Eva. With Eva, I only use as a heat protector since other usage tends to make my hair look wet or oily. I can use NYM as a detangler before I air dry, to calm down bed head, and to heat protect. This round goes to NYM! Results: I prefer NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - All Eyes On Me 10-in-1 Hair Perfector though honestly these products are pretty similar. I think the eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer would work well for someone with thicker or curly hair because mine couldn’t stand up to the oils. Neither are perfect holy grails, but good for the price.

Products + Styles for Long, Fine, Blonde Hair✨
As the title says, my hair is currently long, fine, and blonde (part natural, part bleach😜). Maintaining healthy hair while dealing with these elements can be tricky sometimes so I’m here to show you some of my favourite products for keeping my hair toned, long, and healthy. With my hair type, I mainly focus on hydration, repairing/prevention, toning, and texture (with my hair being fine + straight I like to give it a boost of texture). First up, let’s talk shampoo. I wash my hair about 2-3 times per week and I rotate between a purple shampoo, clarifying/detox shampoo, and a regular shampoo. What I’ve been using lately are - • KRISTIN ESS - The One Purple Shampoo this one works soooo well to tone all of the brassiness out of my hair AND it’s affordable. The one con IMO is it’s very heavily fragranced. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Cocomino Glossing Shampoo this is what I’ve been using as a detox shampoo and it works pretty well - not the best and not the worst. It has a nice light scent and does leave my hair feeling very clean. Downside to this one is the price tag, it’s pretty expensive for such a small bottle. IGK - Low Key Cleansing Walnut Scalp Scrub I recently started incorporating a scalp scrub into my routine; this one works decently well but I have a hard time getting the product to my scalp. BUT if/when I do, I love the cooling peppermint feeling it leaves behind on my scalp. Next up, I try to use a mask or deep conditioner once a week. I’ve been using the eva·nyc - Therapy Session Hair Mask and it’s quite nice. It leaves my hair feeling soft and hydrated but again, it’s quite heavily fragranced which I don’t love. Now this next product is my holy-grail...seriously I am obsessed with it and sing its praises. The KEVIN.MURPHY - Kevin.Murphy Young.Again rescued my dead, bleached ends and brought my hair back to life and helped it to grow long and healthy for the first time in over 10 years. I don’t know what else to say...it’s magic and you need it. Lastly, some styling products I’ve been loving are - • davines - This is a Sea Salt Spray this isn’t a super drying salt spray like some I’ve tried in the past; it gives my hair some grip and texture without the crunchiness. It also has a light vanilla musk scent that I love! • KEVIN.MURPHY - Shimmer Me Blonde this spray contains violet reflects to help tone out brassiness in blonde hair and it’s sooo pretty. It’s like a light oil in texture and feels more like a treatment than a styling product - another Kevin Murphy product I’m in love with!! As for styles, some of my most worn are - • air dried • flat iron waves • half up pony • half up top knot • all up top knot • centre part • deep side part • scrunchies always What are your favourite hair products for your hair type?!

quench thirsty hair 💕
💕The eva·nyc - Therapy Session Hair Maskis a deep conditioning hair mask which promises to moisturize, repair and strengthen dry, damaged hair 💕ingredients in this mask Include keravis protein, buckthorn and Argan oil 💕i began running low on my Briogeo don’t despair, repair deep conditioner but my budget wasn’t allowing me to spend $36 to replace it 💕I saw the Eva nyc hair mask while browsing target ($14.49) and decided to give it a try especially since it has many positive reviews 💕so far I have only used it one time, as I still have some Briogeo left. Based on my first use, it did leave my hair feeling soft and allowed for easy detangling while in the shower. I may have to switch up what shampoo I pair it with though. 💕I will update in the future once I’ve used it a couple more times.

Ooooohhhhh baby... do you want your hair to feel like a new born puppy? Do you want to not use detangler? Did for some reason your hair just stopped being YOUR hair, and you want your hair BACKKKKK? Well honey, I got the product for you! This Mane magic has honestly turned my hair around. Before this my hair was a dull, and I even used custom products and NOTHING. Then Eva NYC so kindly gifted me these products, and it has did a 180 with my hair. I no longer use these products (only because I ran out) but I now can use other products, and my hair is no longer as full. While typing this, I realize I’m going to buy more Eva Hair lol. Also, the price is amazing! It’s incredibly affordable. Omg I didn’t even tell you the best part... it has 10 benefits, and it’s all natural!! Which is honestly the best part 10/10 need to rebuy this NOWWW!! eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Conditioner eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Shampoo

Took a short break from these products {and posting} to test out some other haircare brands but IM BACK!⁣ ⁣ Nothing leaves my hair as soft & frizz free as the mane magic line from Eva NYC. Over the past few months I’ve tried new products from Shu Uemura, L’Oréal and Amika and they don’t compare to how I feel about these two products shown here. 😍⁣ (gifted) ⁣ I’ve been subbing out my freshen up dry shampoo (after I ran out) for some other ones so some new reviews to come on those but freshen up is still my #1 dry shampoo in my ❤️⁣ The Mane Magic line from Eva NYC contains Keravis & Argan Oil to strengthen, hydrate, and nourish your hair. The packaging is super cute too. Both the shampoo and condition form into a perfect lather when mixed with a little water in the shower and only a little is necessary. This has helped my hair after bleaching it multiple times. My hair is stronger, sleeker and healthier. Besides Eva being such a fun girl power brand, their products are high quality and effective. eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Shampoo eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Conditioner

Perfect Damp Styling Routine 💁🏻‍♀️
Damp styling is when you take moisture out of your hair before you add styling products to allow your hair to dry in almost half the time. This method might cause you to lose definition (only if you do it the wrong way) but will amp up your volume to the max. All of the products below can be interchanged for different ones but it’s important to use the same kind of product (foam, gel, mousse, etc).  This routine will help create volume without sacrificing definition. 1. dippity do - Girls with Curls Curl Boosting Mousse The first step before applying this product is add my leave in conditioner (or skip this step if my hair is feeling good) in the shower and squish to condish. This means to really mix the conditioner in your hair with water while scrunching to fully hydrate your fair. After this I like to wet plop in my shower cap (like I referred to in my previous post)  to help my hair absorb the conditioner and stay wet till I want to dry it. Then I take my microfiber towel and micro plop. This means to scrunch my hair with the towel to squeeze out any access water – but don’t be too generous with this step to keep your curl clumps you created in the shower intact. I apply this foam using the flip coat scrunch method that I described in my previous post (it’s exactly like it sounds). Foam is so important to use as your first step because it adds hydrating back into your hair with added hold but without the water weight. *this foam is found in Canada Walmart’s and some American 2.giovanni - L.a. Natural Styling Gel I add this after using the same exact method. This gel requires your hair to be damp so it works perfectly with this routine. *A pro tip is that everyone looks for Giovanni products at Winners and Marshalls which usually has a pretty good selection in the nature haircare section but most Safeway’s actually carry Giovanni products in their natural section! 3.Herbal Essences - Set Me Up Max Hold Gel I sometimes add another gel on top if I want extra hold. This step is not needed but I know the Giovanni gel is really hard to find for Canadians. *I’ve heard some people say this is discontinued but the twisted gel in the purple bottle is literally exactly the same. 4.eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Mousse Finally I finish with the eva nyc mousse. This is a very lightweight mousse that adds hold and hydration. I found this at Winners (Sally’s also carries it) but honestly any mousse works well instead. Like I mentioned above you can use this routine with honestly any products you want but make sure to follow the mousse/foam, gel, mousse/foam application method. Your results with voluminous with a whole lot of definition!

SIMPLEST WAY TO ADD VOLUME TO YOUR HAIR💁🏽‍♀️
for someone like me who has straight hair, sometimes even though I naturally have a lot of volume, it tends to fade after a couple of days of not washing I think it’s safe to say, we all want amazing beautiful bouncy hair on 3rd or 4th day hair, but I know the struggle when you hair straight hair! Everyone’s loves straight hair, but this is the one con!😭 So my simplest trick I give to any person is, throw on some dry shampoo cause we want to suck up all that extra oil and make the hair look more fresh! 😛 I personally have been using eva·nyc - Freshen Up Dry Shampoo and it’s been pretty good! It does spray out white, but it’s super easy to blend and it soaks up the oil really well, plus she’s affordable! Or try Batiste - Batiste Dry Shampoo which is one of my favourite! I normally get the deep brunette shade to ensure there is no residue and it works every single time! 💘 But anyways, after you put your dry shampoo on, I actually leave it on for a couple minutes (the longer the better) and then shake it out and blend it in using my fingers. And then finally I use a brush to blend it all together! The final step to really add the volume is......... just change your part! 😯 so if you normally where your hair in the middle like myself, I just through it to the side slightly and it immediately will seem like my hair has a lot more volume and you look super sexy and put together! 😋

My absolutely favorite Eva NYC products are from the Mane Magic 10-in-1line. I notice a huge difference when I’ve used other products in place of the mane magic shampoo & conditioner. My hair is much shinier, less frizzy and crazy and way more hydrated. ⁣ I love adding the primer and styling mouse to my routine. The primer easily detangles my knotty hair and the mouse reduces my frizz by a ton! ⁣ My hair has become much more greasy this summer. Typically I’d be able to go a few days without washing but lately my hair appears dirty just after day one. The Freshen Up dry shampoo has helped absorb excess oils and make my hair look newly washed! ⁣

MY DESERT ISLAND AIR DRY HAIR PRODUCTS
The new EVA NYC Lazy Jane Air Dry products were introduced to me by @adrianarosalynand I am SO THANKFUL. These products do exactly what they say they will. They add volume, texture and amazing beach waves to my naturally straight / slightly wavy hair. I got these products on a BOGO 50% off deal at Ulta, making the total $18 for the shampoo and conditioner. I had to include the eva·nyc - Deeptox Exfoliating Salt Shampoo because it is amazing for days that my hair feels extra dirty or oily from skipping washes + product build up. The reason this is my favorite scalp scrub of any that I have tried is because it does not have a mint scent to it like most scalp scrubs do. I find that the mint scent hurts my eyes and can be irritating to my scalp. You can also use this product as a body scrub! All 3 products are a 10/10.. and you can find them at Ulta or Target 🙌🏼

🤍happy scalp, happy me🤍
🐚eva·nyc - Deeptox Exfoliating Salt Shampoo If your scalp has been suffocating with residue, dead skin, and scalp acne like mine then i would definitely try this out. My scalp has had enough with my crap and the shampoo i regularly use isnt even good at keeping my scalp clean. 🐚this shampoo LITERALLY does everything it says on the bottle: CLARIFIES (yaas), EXFOLIATES (praise the Lord), and REFRESHES (youre dang right it does). My scalp felt like it could actually breathe. The shampoo i normally use was the Joico purple shampoo and it was a nightmare. It would stain my scalp purple and it would take forever to come off. Every time i would scratch my head i would have bits of residue stuck in my nails. 🐚i applied this salt shampoo onto my scalp with a generous massage and continued to go down to my roots. The smell was heavenly and the texture was gorgeous. There are bits of salt that helps to exfoliate and it was super gentle! The texture starts to foam up once you rub it in really well. I take at least 5 min for it to sit and i rinse it off right after. It does get super tangly ofc but adding conditioner right after shouldnt be a problem. 🐚i did my scratch test to see if i would have residue still stuck to my scalp. Final results: no stain, no residue. Happy scalp, happy hair, happy me. 🐚bonuses: you can also use this shampoo to exfoliate your body as well and i thought that was amazing! This is 100% vegan too if youre looking for something in that kind of department 🤍 🐚i would definitely purchase this once im all out. Hands down one of the best shampoos ive had! If only the bottle was bigger!💗

Sleek+Straight; Best Styles for Oval Face Shape
My face shape has always been a cross between oval & round; I have found that one of the most flattering styles for my shape is sleek and straight. Here’s the steps I take to achieve shiny, sleek, healthy looking hair that frames my face and helps to slim down the roundness👇🏻 My hair is naturally straight and is fine in texture. While my natural colour is blonde, it is also colour-treated (bleached) throughout. 1️⃣ I started with day-old, air-dried hair; first I sprayed in the eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer to protect my strands from the heat of my flat iron and prime it for styling. This spray is a very fine mist and works great to prep the hair for heat styling (my only con is that it’s very strongly perfume scented). 2️⃣ Next I ran my eva·nyc - Spectrum Far-Infrared Styling Iron through my hair, concentrating on the hair around my face to make sure it was evenly sleek and not frizzy. Personally, I only flat iron my hair from just above my ears down because I find if I flat iron the roots it leaves my hair too flat and without any volume. 3️⃣ Last, I misted on some of my KEVIN.MURPHY - Shimmer Me Blonde which is a shine-enhancing spray made for blondes, with violet-hued reflects to tone out brassiness (they have one for brunettes/redheads too!). I love this stuff, it feels nourishing but light and makes my hair shiny without being greasy. Honestly, it’s a super simple look but I always feel a little bit glam when I go for sleek + straight locks - it feels so timeless. Hope you enjoyed!!💁🏼‍♀️🤍

how to care for Blonde, Processed, Straight hair
🌸 My hair type my hair is long, straight, naturally black, but has been processed over the course of four years to be blonde bia balayage. It’s pretty dry and damaged 🌸 Wash I wash every other day, with dry shampoo between us need it. I work out a lot so skipping washing my hair can be hard. I have been using the Matrix Brass off series for years, I love it because it tones my hair and keeps it pretty healthy MATRIX - Brass Off Blue Shampoo MATRIX - Brass-Off-Conditioner 🌸 Dry I never use heat on my hair, and only air dry! If I need to curl my hair I use overnight rollers or roller socks. I put these two products in my hair for added toning and hydration while it still damp after the shower PAUL MITCHELL - Super Skinny Serum eva·nyc - Tone It Down! Blonde Leave-in Foam 🌸 Tips - use purple products to tone out orange/yellow/brass colors if you want more silver hair - try not to wash every day - use an oil or serum to repair damage

Blonde Salvation
I love this line. This product specifically is made to be used after the shower following the blonde shampoo and conditioner. Kind of like a leave in toner! It dispenses a fluffy mousse. It’s super fun to apply. Not super heavy, it melts into the hair pretty smoothly. All of Eva NYC products are cruelty free. The company is women powered. And the products are just so freakin cute! It can leave you a little purple if you overdo it. But that’s honestly what I’m looking for in a product for my blonde hair. The formula is nutrient rich and fortified with vitamins for your hair. As a bleach head this can help repair some of the damage caused by coloring and heat.

Today’s post is a product comp
Today’s post is a product comparison between @amika soul food nourishing mask and @evahairnyc therapy session hair mask. ⁣ ⁣ ✨ Eva’s therapy session is a very whipped creamy texture with argan oil and Keravis that provides vitamins and nutrients for your hair. I’ve used this products two ways.. the first in replace of my conditioner (letting it sit a bit longer) the second, and my favorite way, is to put this in my hair and leave it overnight washing it out in the morning. My hair dries so silky smooth and with NO frizz! I really feel like this has great long term benefits. ⁣ ⁣ ✨Amika’s soul food is a thicker, more waxy, heavier texture that is harder to apply in wet hair evenly. The major ingredient is sea buckthorn which has tons of vitamins and nutrients and is featured in all of Amika’s products. I don’t get any results from using this product. I’ve tried a bunch of times pairing it with different shampoos and my hair doesn’t feel any different afterwards. I’ve gone through almost this entire travel size testing the product. ⁣🤷🏻‍♀️ ⁣ ⁣ In conclusion: I recommend therapy session over soul food but both have 5 star ratings on Sephora, google etc. Therapy session is half the price and double the size if you’re on a budget! ⁣ ⁣ Fun fact: Amika and Eva NYC are manufactured by the same company called Heat Makes Sense. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣
