Slugging with Aquaphor Healing Ointment!
Aquaphor - Aquaphor Healing Ointment Ok guys, I’ve heard about this a lot and my skin is so darn dry that no moisturizer lasts overnight. My skin ends up extremely dry and flaky and red the next morning and nothing is helping me heal or improve my skin. Everything I’ve tried kind of just helps short term and is good in the moment, bust still wears over time, so I’m going to try slugging! What is slugging? I wasn’t sure, so I googled what it really was and Byrdie said, “Slugging is a K-Beauty skincare trend which includes coating your face in petrolatum or Vaseline. This prevents transepidermal water loss and keeps moisture in your skin.“ This sounds like it would be worth a try, I am a side and tummy sleeper so I’m hoping that it doesn’t get all over my pillow. I’m only putting the Aquaphor on my chin area because that’s the only area where I feel I need it. I’ll keep updating as I keep doing it, but I’m really hoping this saves my skin! *morning of day 1: it worked! I just woke up and looked in the mirror and I didn’t see any flakiness!!!! I’m gonna keep trying it for a few days to see if I can really get that patch permanently fixed, I’m so excited! I’ve had that darn thing for years in the winter. *morning of day 3: WOW MY SKIN IS SMOOOOOOOTH AND SO NOT DRY! The only annoying thing is trying not to get it on my pillow since I’m a side/tummy sleeper but this is really working for me! And this is great because I meant to purchase hand cream, got this instead, and had no idea what to do with it until I heard about slugging.
Eczema flair ups
So after being home for what seems like forever, i’ve suddenly had a flair up of my eczema. It started off on my eyelids for a few months, then with quarantine, it started spreading in my left cheeks, my forehead was extremely dry and cracked, then all over my face. I used to not be sensitive with my acne skincare products, but the more my eczema got worst, the more sensitive my skin would get. Even a splash of water would irritate my skin. I stopped doing my regular skin care routine for a while, it was not doing me good with a compromised skin barrier (which is what eczema is). So this is what has been working for me, after trial and error, these two products together helped clear up my patches, and decrease my redness. Still a little flakey, but not as flakey as it was initially. I start off by cleansing my skin with CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser it’s the only gentle cleanser i have. It still irritates my skin a little sadly, but i try to cleanse less, so usually PM only. And I would rinse my face with just water in the AM. Don’t feel the need that i should spend on another cleanser, since it’s hopefully just temporary until my skin barrier gets stronger. - then i would slather CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream all over my face on damped skin, avoiding my eye area. Its so thick and perfect for my extremely dry skin. Its so soothing and the ingredients are the best. It’s very hydrating, but just not thick enough for my eczema prone skin. Which is why i follow up with a thin layer of Aquaphor - Aquaphor Healing Ointment prior to doing this, i would wake up with flakey dry skin in the morning, as if all the hydration has disappeared during my sleep. But this ointment helps lock in the cream and keeps my skin hydrated until the morning. Its great for everything tbh. I would also put this on my eyelids since i have redness there as well. (Side note: i’ve been using this for my cracked lips for years, it’s the absolute best for drugstore lip balm). But if you have those bad days where your lips gets extremely dry to the point that you don’t know what to do anymore and your regular lip balm that you’ve used for a lifetime does not work, i would recommend #La Roche-Posay - Cicaplast levres[products]#[FiveStars] you wake up the next day as if nothing has happened, you get completely healed lips. I swear by it!!! It’s very thick, with a mat finish, it’s nothing like other lip balms ive used before. It also contains great ingredients such as panthenol which is great for repairing. The less is better for eczema prone skin, and i hope these two holy grail products of mine works for you too. You really need patience, and so far i am loving the results. My patches has gone away and my redness is slowly calming down. I thought i would need a whole new routine but i will stick to this for now.

My Winter 2021 Skincare Routine
Hey guys, I’m going to be reviewing my 2021 winter skincare routine! PURITO - Comfy Water Sun Block This sunscreen is my go to. It’s so light and amazing, and really does the job. Keeping those UV rays without even being able to tell I have a sunscreen on. This sunscreen leaves no white cast either. Amazing! Mineral sunscreens are very sustainable as well. CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin I’ve been using this Salicylic Acid based cleanser for a couple months now, and can for sure tell the difference of the texture of my skin, and my pores. I’ll be also posting a full review of this product as well. No fragrance, and gets all the dirt and excess makeup off my skin. Amazing and no bad reactions! The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I’ve already reviewed this serum, so you can scroll down my account to see my opinion, but it is amazing. Super hydrating, light, a little tacky feel at first (takes a second to absorb into my skin) but afterwards I have a plump and hydrated feeling throughout my skin! The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I started using this serum late July 2020. So far, no bad thoughts about it. This serum is super light, and really makes a difference. I’ll also be posting a full review on this product. A big difference in my pores since before I started using it. Less clogged pores, and a much smoother texture skin in problematic areas. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream This is my favorite winter moisturizer. It’s super thick, and absorbs well into my skin. It leaves me skin with a nice and soft feel to it. Using this moisturizer during the winter is amazing because it leaves my skin very hydrated throughout the whole day without any dry patches! CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream I’ve been using this since the summer of 2020, and I haven’t noticed much of a difference. You could probably just use your moisturizer as an eye cream, because I can’t tell a difference in my skin. I’m not going to waste it though and I’ll finish it off. Otherwise just use moisturizer as an eye cream. Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant Lastly, my favorite lip balm. The best way to keep your lips moisturized all year long is to use this product. I haven’t had any cracked lips or lip problems in years since I started using this product. Amazing and will never stop using Aquaphor!
Earth to Skin from Walmart of all places
Hey lovelies! I just purchased this manukau honey mini set from Walmart and after my first use I am pleasantly surprised. I have weird “acne” issues for a while now and I am currently in my mid 30s with the same issues. I say “acne” because I mostly get closed comedones that sometimes turn to a small active legion. Additionally, I do suffer from eczema around my nose and in the nasal folds going towards my mouth. I normally use CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream but felt like it still leaves my skin dry so I have to use Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant on my eczema prone areas. This line feels very hydrating and gentle. earthtoskin - Honey Manuka Calming Face Cleanser The cleanser is good for sensitive skin and doesn’t strip it but doesn’t seem to do much else. earthtoskin - Honey Manuka Calming Day Gel Cream This moisturizer is very light but still hydrating. Leaves my skin a bit sticky but over time it goes away. Need to use it more for better feedback. earthtoskin - Honey Manuka Calming Night Cream This night cream my favorite product from the kit. It very thick and emollient which makes it hard to apply but it absorbs nicely leaving my skin feeling hydrated and soft. I didn’t need to use aquaphor on my eczema areas after use of this. earthtoskin - Honey Royal Jelly Calming Eye Cream This eye cream was hydrating and a nice addition to the routine. This can make your eyes a bit blurry but I have that issue with most eye creams. Overall great kit and very affordable for only $10 with a natural honey scent. Will report back with updates on empties. -K

Magic in a tube
My lips get really dry and cracked in the winter and I used to use aquaphor, but found that it didn’t do much. Then I found this aquaphor that’s specifically for lips, and it’s a life saver! I use this twice a day and my lips are already getting better. Aquaphor - Lip Repair

Affordable Morning Routine!
Ulta employee here showing my affordable morning routine! Everything is under $40 and fragrance free 😊 A little bit about my skin: - I have pretty normal skin with a slightly oily t-zone - I live in Florida, so I sweat A LOT due to the humidity - My skin can be acne prone - I get "fungal acne" very easily from heavier moisturizing ingredients (and many niacinamide serums for some reason) Now for the routine! I cleanse with CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin and oh my god this has made the biggest difference with the "fungal acne" (I use quotes because its not really acne). I used to have congested pores all over my face and no matter what I did, they wouldn't go away! I was looking for drugstore cleansers and happened to find this, and I haven't had any issues since. Highly recommend! After gently patting my face dry, I'll use the Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum . I hate that this is relatively expensive for a drugstore vitamin c serum, but no other serum has worked as well as this one for me. I've tried similar vitamin c treatments from the ordinary and other brands, and nothing makes my skin feel as soft, bright, and hydrated as mad hippie. Recently, I'll also take any excess and put it near my under-eye area to help with dark circles, and its making a big difference! I've already repurchased this product, so I highly recommend. I struggle with fine lines around my eyes, so I love using DERMA•E - Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream AM and PM. I'm on my 3rd bottle of this and I've noticed a big reduction in fine lines, dark circles, and creasing when I wear concealer. This is one of the best eye creams out there in my opinion. I moisturize with CLINIQUE - Clinique iD : Moisturizer + Concentrate for Fatigue . I use the jelly base with the fatigue cartridge for lightweight hydration, additional antioxidants, and glowing skin throughout the day. My skin always feels soft, supple, and bright... so much so that I have 2 extra cartridges sitting in my bathroom so that I never run out 😂 SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN! I love LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 60 Clear Skin Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 60 even though its a chemical sunscreen. I tried to switch to mineral sunscreen recently, and every single one that I tried always made me look like a ghost, felt like I was rubbing chalk on my skin, or broke me out. This sunscreen is oil-free, contains antioxidants for extra protection, and is dry to the touch so it won't feel greasy at all. I'm on my 3rd (?) bottle of this and I don't see myself switching any time soon. DON'T FORGET LIP SPF! I really like Aquaphor - Lip Repair + Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 30 because its very moisturizing and really hydrates the lips. We see people coming in all the time for lip scrubs, but you don't need one if you properly moisturize and protect your lips!
🔎Petroleum products in skincare
I figured I would give these slides I made their own post since so many people seemed to find it helpful. ⚠️DISCLAIMER: I’m not a skincare expert. This information is based on my own internet research. It’s easy to find conflicting information about almost any topic or Ingredient, so don’t freak out if you use some of these ingredients. I grew up using all things Vaseline & cheap drugstore products in the house... I think I first had reservations about Vaseline when trying to use it as a lip balm replacement. It didn’t offer anything beyond the illusion of hydration at first, leaving me craving a reapplication. When I learned about what it actually does I understood why. In 2020 there are so many petroleum product free products available at affordable prices, but it’s important to note that these ingredients are still prevalent in so many drugstore skincare products & even in highend products like La Mer crème. Aside from Vaseline brand, it’s uncommon to find information regarding the refinement process of petroleum products in the US, making it harder to know what’s safe... These ingredients are still so prevalent despite the concerns simply due to their very cheap manufacturing costs. They’re also in shampoos, conditioners & body lotions. The use of these ingredients skincare products has been banned in Europe if the full refinement history is not disclosed. Why people use Vaseline: There are 2 different types of moisturizers. Products like essences & serums hydrate the skin without the waxes & emollients that make creams & lotions thick, so they don't clog pores or feel greasy or heavy. This first type adds moisture to the skin & the other stops or “blocks” the natural moisture that your skin produces from being lost to the atmosphere. Due to the large molecule size of Vaseline, it coats of the outer layer of your skin to prevent water loss, but cannot be truly absorbed. (See my last 2 posts to discover an interesting moisturizing product that actually has the same molecular size as our skin particles!) So in theory, Vaseline is used as a skin protectant. Vaseline brand petroleum jelly is purified & refined to a level that the FDA considers non-carcinogenic. Personally I would steer clear of it for lip balm because there are so many other options to hydrate without the consumption risk. 👄I added a slide of a few popular lips balms w/ petrolatum is the 1st ingredient. It’s also important to think about the cleanliness of your Vaseline container. Considering it will trap any bacteria on your skin or wounds under it, what bacteria may already exist in the container? I know for me growing up, the family Vaseline jar in the bathroom was pretty gross. A lot of people still swear by this stuff, just look up “Tyra Vaseline frenzy” on YouTube... but if you have sensitive or acne prone skin, I personally don’t recommend it. Try something like pure vitamin E oil in a dropper to minimize bacteria. It will nourish dry lips & dry skin patches!

Review my AM routine for acne-prone skin
My current AM routine consists of a mix of products I’ve used for a long time and products I recently started using. I’m noticing improvements with the addition of the new products already, and it’s only been 4-5 days. Here’s the breakdown on each product: Cleanser: Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser In a previous post I had rated this cleanser a 5/5; however, I recently learned that this product contains several ingredients that are irritants, allergens, hormone disrupters and/or carcinogens. This has knocked my rating down. I have not experienced any negative effects using this cleanser in the past and I have been using it for over 1 year. I am considering looking for an alternative product after what I found in my research. Toner: VERSED - WEEKEND GLOW I recently started using this product and I am happy with the results so far. I am on day 5 currently and I feel like I am seeing brighter skin. I am skeptical of toners and this is the first one I have used in years. So far, so good! Acne treatment: #CVS Health - Targeted acne spot treatment 2.5 % benzoyl peroxide acne medication[products]#[FiveStars] this is a generic version of a product I’ve posted about previously. It’s perfect for spot treatment or all over use in acne-prone areas due to the lower percentage of benzoyl peroxide. This product was recommended by my current dermatologist to treat my acne. It works just as well as the name brand and is less expensive. Serum: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I am loving this serum so far! I’m on day 4 and I am noticing improvements in oil production and the appearance of my pores and acne marks already. It can feel a smidge sticky going on but otherwise I have zero complaints with this product! Eye Cream: OLAY - Total Effects Anti-Aging Eye Treatment Eye Transforming Cream I really like this eye cream. I feel like it always brightens up my under eye area and I have relatively few wrinkles and puffiness in the area thanks to this cream. My only complaint is that I wish it was cheaper. Moisturizer: Cetaphil - Facial Hydrating Lotion This is another product that I had rated higher in a previous post. I have been using this moisturizer for over a year and was disappointed when I found out that it contains ingredients that are allergens, irritants and/or hormone disrupters. I’ve never experienced negative effects with this product;however, I’m now considering looking for an affordable alternative. Otherwise, I have always loved this light yet ultra hydrating lotion. Lip moisturizer: Aquaphor - Lip Repair, Stick, Immediate Relief, Fragrance Free, 1 Stick I love aquaphor! It’s been keeping my lips smooth and moisturized for years. I recently switched from using the ointment to the lip stick and I’m loving it so far. Both work great at keeping my lips hydrated!
Dermatologist recommended acne regimen
Since I hit puberty I have suffered from acne. After years of seeing dermatologists and trying countless prescription and over the counter treatments and products I have settled on the current regimen which keeps my skin 90-95% clear most of the time. Morning Routine Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser this cleanser has been recommended by the majority of the dermatologists I have seen over the years. It works well, cleaning without over-drying skin. Neutrogena - On-the-Spot Acne Treatment this has a lower percentage of benzoyl peroxide than most other gels and creams which is recommended if you are using other stronger acne treatments in your regimen. Over treating can irritate the skin and end up causing or worsening breakouts. Cetaphil - Facial Hydrating Lotion I love this lotion. It feels lightweight but works really well. It is noncomedogenic and contains hyluronic acid. Aquaphor - Lip Repair, Stick, Immediate Relief, Fragrance Free, 1 Stick my lips split on the sides from dryness sometimes and aquaphor has always been my go to lip treatment. I apply it in the morning and evening to keep my lips smooth and prevent splitting. Evening Routine Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel this gel works almost as well as the prescription cream I used to use when I was younger. I wish it was less expensive but it’s worth the cost to have clear skin.
YOUR SKIN NEEDS THIS🥰
Healing for the skin for sure Specially during this WINTER🥶 and using all the hand sanitizer and washing hands frequently, the ✋ gets to dry more!! so Aquaphor - Touch-Free Healing Ointment comes in this situation 🤔😊
Battle of the lip balms 💥🥊
Aquaphor - Lip Repair, Immediate Relief, Fragrance Free Vaseline - Lip Therapy, Original Lip Balm in terms of gentle, fragrance free lip balm these are both good - especially for winter 🥶 when chapped lips never lets up. personally I prefer the aquaphor. It’s thick, but smooth and stays on very well. It’s been good for me living in a dry climate that snows in winter. the Vaseline lip therapy line is techinically the same as using the big jars of Vaseline. But somehow it isn’t. I have a big jar of Vaseline and it’s a thinner consistency than these small pots. On top of that they put yellow dye in the small one for some reason... it’s a little thicker and can occasionally irritate my lips (not sure why, maybe it’s sealing in a product I used before applying the Vaseline? Or it’s the yellow dye that the big jars don’t have? Who knows tho but I don’t like it). It’s also sticky, unlike the big jars. I’d honestly buy the aquaphor over Vaseline any day. It’s a better deal and I don’t have to dip my finger in a jar which seems unsanitary especially during these times. The Vaseline lip jars are going for 3-4 bucks each when I could buy a jumbo jar for that same price! Personally I think the lip therapy lip is a rip off and would sooner buy the aquaphor. Or just buy the big jars of Vaseline that don’t have the dye or sticky consistency.
Lip products in my purse

Go through my Skin Cabinet with me! 🧖♀️
First, let’s start with my favorite products of the bunch! The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution If you’ve seen some of my earlier posts you know I love this chemical exfoliant! It has really helped to make my skin appear brighter. tarte - Babassu Foundcealer Skincare Foundation SPF 20 I have been using this one for probably a little over a year now and I love it! Not only does it have SPF in it but it sits nicely on my dry skin and it’s honestly quite the perfect match for my skin tone. schmidt's - Lavender + Sage Deodorant Stick I’ve also given this product its own review post so check it out for more info but so far this has been the only natural deodorant that has worked for me! It also smells amazinggg. Now onto some of my least favorite products of the bunch: Neutrogena - MoistureShine Lip Soother SPF 20 I bought this while looking for one of those clear lip glosses that just look SO GOOD on Instagram. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out to look so good & was too sticky. sun bum - Sunscreen Spray-Fragrance Free SPF 50 I wanted a mineral sunscreen spray that I could easily re-apply while out and about so I picked up this fragrance free one by Baby Bum (it’s made for babies). I’m not a fan however because it does not apply nicely, has a white cast & is difficult to get off the skin at the end of the day. e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream The cream itself feels nice & keeps my skin hydrated, however it has plastic in it. I’m using it for now, but once it’s done I will not be replacing it🙅🏻♀️ Maybe you can tell 🤔 but here is how organized from top to bottom: Products I occasionally use - products like The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution & SPA SCIENCES - SIMA I alternate between once a week to exfoliate. The Aquaphor - Aquaphor Healing Ointment & Clearasil - Overnight Spot Patches I use whenever I have a white head I need to get rid of & help heal afterwords. Makeup - I only use these when I wear makeup, which has been rarely these days Skincare - these products I use daily! I began using skincare products around the age of 14/15, so like 6-7 years ago but I admittedly did not get very much into it until this past year. Better late then never! What’s your skin cabinet look like? Other products pictured include: NYX - Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Original Mascara bareMinerals - All-Over Face Color laura mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder bareMinerals - Prime Time Foundation Primer BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 PA +++ Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion
