Battle of the Sunscreens ☀️
I finally caved and jumped on the bandwagon of Asian sunscreens. After watching countless skinfluencer youtube videos and Instagram accounts, I decided to narrow it down to these 3. Not gonna lie, my first choice was actually the Purito and Dear,Klairs but ever since the scandal (just google Purito sunscreen scandal) I decided it's best to steer clear of them until the formulas are updated. Asian sunscreens are hot right now, and I have to be honest, I do not love our Western formulas. Therefore I'm totally hyped to give these a try after hearing rave reviews about these lightweight formulas. Which one should I try first? ETUDE - Soon Jung Mild Defense Sun Cream COSRX - Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50 PA+++ CANMAKE - Mermaid Skin Gel UV Sound off in the comments if you have any other suggestions that I am missing out on 💋 #cheriecreator
✨NEW HOLY GRAIL EVERYDAY PRODUCT✨
found a serum that truly works!!💕🧡 StriVectin - Super-C Retinol Brighten & Correct Vitamin C Serum This product has made my skin feel more hydrated and my skin has been glowing ever since I started the product. This actually gave me instant results by the second day and I love it! The formula is super light weight, non-sticky and absorbs quick. It does have a light citrusy scent🍊.Although, I try to refrain from scented products for my face but this was an exception because this really worked for me. So if you’re looking for a serum to add to your skincare routine I would highly recommend this product! Texture: not to watery, just about right. Miracle acne healing cream!!💚💚
I have fair skin that is dry and acne prone, all of this means that not only do I suffer from acne I really get visible hyperpigmentation 😭. Therefore I am always on the look out for products that deal with acne that don’t lead to dark spots and products that help eliminate the dark spots when they appear. Cosrx is one of my favourite brand as it is affordable, they have a huge array of products and they are cruelty free. Cosrx is a Korean brand and centella asiatica (or tiger grass) is a widely popular ingredient in Asian Beaty products and it is the star ingredient in this cream. Centella is known for its soothing and healing properties and that is exactly what it does in this cream. What is it? This is a healing cream that can be put in active breakout to reduce the redness and help speed the healing. I also put it on healing marks to help speed the healing as well as reduce the likely hood that I will develop a dark spot. Texture: This is a thick white cream that you gently rub over a breakout. Effectiveness: This cream works sooooo well for me! It has drastically reduced the heal time for my breakouts. COSRX - Centella Blemish Cream I love this cream and I will definitely continue to use it!
centella asciatica + spironolactone = 🥰
it’s been a minute! here’s an update on my skin, picture on the left was taken during my peak worst skin of 2020 (June) and now (December). Between now and then, it’s been mainly credited to patience, attempting to pick my skin less, simplifying my routine, and a few amazing products that my skin just seems to really agree with. here’s my routine: Morning/Day: Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser This amazing aloe / glycerine/ squalane moisturizer that I get from a local aesthetician. Linking here! It is SO light and doesn’t clog skin but moisturizers super well. I go thru this like crazy. 10/10 https://www.smartcosmeticstudio.com/shop/exzit-moisture TULA SKINCARE - Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm MARIO BADESCU - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lippe Balm Night: Same routine but adding: COSRX - Centella Blemish Cream I literally would be LOST without this product. I use it over moisturizer- it’s pretty thick and probably should be used as a spot treatment, but I cover my face lightly in it. I found it’s been amazing for acne scars, healing, lightening, and soothing redness. Nexcare - Nexcare Acne Blemish Cover Amazing and so cheap on amazon Or... PanOxyl - PM Overnight Spot Patches love these but a little more expensive. I have that on in my picture on the right! I’m also on 100mg/ day of Spironolactone for about 6mo as prescribed by my Dermatologist. I recommend this as an alternative if no over the counter products are helping, it took a while to start working but saves me from the horrible and painful under skin pimples which would probably be convering my face if I weren’t taking this! 🤍

Hello everybody who has hearted my posts to see my skin care journey (: This is what my skin has been looking like still using all of the same products! The only thing I’ve added is a jade roller just because it’s sooooo relaxing lol. I do have acne scars and rosacea, but I’ve noticed my rosacea is reduced when I treat my skin well. Now remember I’m also 9 months Preggo and haven’t been eating the best 😬 Guilty I know, but my skin is looking so much healthier and glowier! I don’t have perfect skin, but I do see a huge improvement from what I’ve dealt with in the past. First I still use the THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm balm to remove my makeup. Oats are very calming for your skin and reduce redness so I love the way this feels when I double cleanse. Next I rinse that off well and go in with my LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser This stuff hasn’t broken me out once and I have very sensitive skin so I definitely recommend just trying it out for yourself. After I cleanse my skin I go in with my PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator as a toner. (Only use at night) This stuff is strong, but I find using it only at night helps more because I’m not adding so much to my face. This has helped reduce my pores and also clear some mild breakouts and redness on my face. Next I go in with my amazing oil I got of amazon Cos De BAHA - Azelaic Acid 10% Serum with Niacinamide Acne Scar Removal + Redness Relief Face Now this stuff is AMAZING. I apply this with the dropper every morning and night and it is a miracle worker!! I would rate this more than 5 stars. It helps calm your skin and also helps with breakouts, hyperpigmentation and so much more. After this step I use my Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer The reason I give it three stars is because it’s just your average basic moisturizer to me.. it works, but I’m sure there’s better moisturizers out there. For the price though it’s worth it if you want something easy. Next step after is always sunscreen in the morning! Never at night for me and I use GARNIER - Green Labs Pinea-C Brightening Serum Cream SPF 30 I only have been using this since December so I won’t give it five stars yet, but this is a good 3-1 face serum with spf! One thing I like is it doesn’t leave a white cast on me. Things I don’t like is how it has a lot of fragrance and it also can burn my eyes sometimes. If anyone has a better spf to try let me know (: That’s all I do for the morning and night time and then of course use my jade roller to feel relaxed. I do use my THE inkey LIST - Caffeine Eye Cream but I don’t see a difference on my under eyes. I’ll keep you all updated again soon ! ❤️
Update: my acne has reduced A LOT
I’ve been a bit MIA since my last post but here is the progress of my acne. If I were to pinpoint the main reasons why, then it’s these reasons: What I did wrong: - experimenting and using alot of different products. I was in a phase where I loved trying new products and my skin did not like that I was switching products all the time. - I did not spot test new products - overloaded my skin with many products. I don’t know who needs to hear this but a 10 step routine is NOT for acne prone skin. - drank little water each day - used harsh products without re-balancing my skin with soothing products - masked almost everyday What I did to improve it: - reduce the number of products going on my skin. I now use only a max of 3 products in the morning and 5 products at night. - drank 2 litres of water every day - used a soothing pH-balanced toner - used a GENTLE chemical exfoliant - used retinol regularly - masked only every 2-3 days Some products I use in my daily routine that really helped my skin: PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator as an all-over exfoliant PAULA'S CHOICE - BHA 9 Treatment as a spot treatment The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% to fade acne scars Products that I use every 2-3 days that helped my skin: AZCLEAR - Medicated Lotion (mixed with Niacinamide) to fade acne scars DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream to bring out new baby skin ANDALOU NATURALS - CannaCell Glow Mask as a gentle exfoliating mask If you are going through something similar just know to take it SLOWLY. The skin is going through trauma and it is not an overnight success. If you have any questions I’m happy to answer.
A K-Beauty staple for acne-prone skin
How good is this dear, klairs - Midnight Blue Calming Cream ? I am on my third jar. If you have sensitive skin or are prone to acne breakouts you absolutely should having this soothing moisturizer on your radar. When you apply it there is a slight cooling sensation, which I view as the calming and soothing ingredients in action. The beautiful blue color comes from Guaiazulene, an extract from camomile oil with strong skin-calming properties. That is paired with one of my favorite ingredients for redness, Centella, along with ceramides and beeswax. I love the soothing comfort this provides to stressed out skin, but I do wish it was slightly more hydrating- for now I layer it under thicker creams or facial oils. For the price, I think this is worth it to anyone who deals with cystic acne or gets inflamed skin pretty often. If you only have the occasional pimple, this isn’t a must-buy product unless that occasional pimple is a volcano that’s huge, painful, and red. I give it four out of five stars because while I love it, I wish it was slightly more hydrating to my dry skin.

Healing acne and leftover scarring
In high school, I never had problematic skin. It wasn’t until I became an adult that acne presented itself and it was everywhere. My forehead, chin, cheeks, neck, etc. I felt really ugly and would put makeup on to hide everything. I never left the house unless I had a full face. As silly as it sounds, it does put a toll on your mental health and self worth. After years of trying these products that promised me the world, I decided that I was going to go back to the basics and I started using 3 products. Yes, just 3 products. I used Cerave hydrating facial cleanser, zapzyt acne treatment gel and cerave daily moisturizing lotion. I really started to notice a huge difference with my acne cleaning up. From there, I slowly added active ingredients like the ordinary’s niacinamide and zinc as well as Sunday Riley’s Luna to help with my scarring as well as supergoop’s sunscreen. My skin is not perfect, but it has come a long way.
Acne Scar Cream/Balm
Was not expecting much from this cream but it has become one of my fav products!! It has incredibly healing/calming ingredients that I found to actually work. I’ve noticed a big difference in my scar redness day-to-day as well as overall scar appearance over time. My skin looks hydrated, soothed and soft— highly recommend as a nighttime moisturizer!

centella for redness in blemishes
this product by cosrx has been working SO well for me! Whenever I get a breakout/blemish my redness is what makes it stand out the most, and this product here really helps to soothe the inflammation and take down the redness significantly!! It is a very very thick texture, and it does leave a white cast on the skin- so I only use this at night time. It also has a strong scent- but it doesn’t irritate my skin. But regardless of those, it doesn’t effect my opinion because I know how well it works on my skin. It really has helped my blemishes heal so much faster (which is what it’s designed to do) and helps brighten up my hyperpigmentation significantly. I don’t think I could be without this product. And at the price of only $15? It’s absolutely worth every penny! I would and will tell everybody they need this product! Such a treasure to keep in your skincare collection.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
