Three Common Hair Questions Answered!

I've been getting quite a few questions all pertaining to haircare. So I thought I would take the time to dive into a few of the most common that I have been hearing from you guys. Q: How do I enhance my curls and avoid frizz? A: Curly hair is naturally dry, so moisture is the key to making your curls happy. There are a few things you can do to promote healthier and hydrated curls. Use a sulfate-free shampoo or Co-wash like AS I AM - Coconut Cleansing Conditioner
to prevent it from stripping natural oils from the hair. Conditioner like SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner
specially formulated for curly hair will have extra moisturizing properties. Curls - Blueberry CURL Control Paste
Styling gel is excellent for controlling frizz and flyaways. Q: Is there any way I can make my hair grow faster? A: Sadly, no, but not all hope is lost. You may not be able to grow your hair faster, but you can make sure that the hair you have makes it to a longer length. A diet that is rich in Zinc and Biotin keeps the hair healthy enough to meet its full potential. Q: I want to grow my hair longer but my ends get really damaged and eventually split. Do I have to get it cut? A: unfortunately, you have to cut it to grow it. After five weeks of growth with no trim, you will get bigger split ends, and you will have to cut more off in the long run. It may not seem like it, but you end up saving time and length by trimming every 3-4 weeks.

Product Junkie? More like Family Friendly 🥰
There are a lot of products seen here (and some not featured here)that are used on a daily basis BUT I use them all and being in a house with 4 other people (my husband, my kids and myself), I’m not the only one who uses them. Here is a list of some products used and their star rating. The only ones that will be explained are the kid friendly options and not included is the ordinary which has a separate post already on my page: CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser For me, this product is a 5 out 5 but My eldest son says that it is slightly stripping to his skin even though it works for him. My husband also likes it! CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser bliss - Clear Genius Clarifying Toner + Serum My husband stopped using it complaining about its texture and not seeing any results. My eldest son lives for this saying it feels soothing on the skin and I have to agree!! CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream Everyone in the family uses it except the youngest child who we use Eucerin cream for. Very good moisturizer and is a great family friendly product. bliss - Pore Patrol Clay-to-Foam Purifying Cleanser My eldest son uses this one more than me! Works miracles on pores and has a deeper cleanse than most pore centered cleaners. For me this is used maybe once or twice a week (same as the SA CLEANSER). Coppertone - Pure & Simple SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion I’ve spoken on this before - initial white cast is awful but after a few minutes, it airs out and dies down! My both my sons hate the stuff but it has done wonders for their hyperpigmentation issues. I wish mines were so easily dealt with. Don’t get me wrong - it helps BUT not too much of a life changing effect is going on over here. SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Rinse-Out Conditioner Absolutely, positively brilliant product. Everyone in my house uses this one. Helps hair and has that drastic life changing effect on hair (our house has 3C to 4C hair). SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner This is mostly only used on my daughters hair and Her hair reacts positively to it. Detangling is earlier, her hair is shinier and healthier. It’s a great product. Not as thick as it used to be but still great! Carol's Daughter - Goddess Strength Divine Strength Leave In Cream With Castor Oil Again, very family friendly product! Makes hair feel great without weighing it down. With hair type range being so broad in our household, it’s nice to have a product everyone in the house can use! Products not listed but deserve mention: Hot Six Oil : This product can be used for hair skin and nails. I use it to seal ends, after baths and even treat eczema!

Basic Hair Tips (Part 2)!
Basic Hair Tips (Part 2)!
Hi everyone, I hope that the first post has helped some of you in your hair care journey! Here are some more tips! DO NOT OVERCLEAN YOUR HAIR. This is another hard reality for many people that have curls or coils. Remember how I previously mentioned that the production of bubbles does not mean that your hair is cleaner & that it’s stripping away your natural oils? Well, you also have to be careful to not over wash your hair because TOO MUCH SHAMPOO in your hair, regardless of whether they have sulfates or not, is BAD & DRIES your hair, which, in turn, causes your scalp to produce UNHEALTHY OIL to compensate for the dryness, making it harder for the hair TO STAY HEALTHY WITHOUT ITS NATURAL OILS & TO RETAIN THE MUCH NEEDED MOISTURE. How often you should wash your hair is IMPORTANT & also varies according to HAIR TYPE, so please take the time to do more in-depth research about this. I wash my hair 2 times a week. There are ways to maintain your hair clean without having to wash it EVERYDAY, it is not necessary. That being said, this is probably one of the MOST IMPORTANT TIPS: MOISTURE IS A CURLS’ BEST FRIEND. Having curls automatically means that we tend to have DRYER hair than people with straight hair. It’s science. The shape of our follicles makes it harder for the sebaceous glands to successfully release sebum to lubricate our hair. The more quenchness your hair has, then the more dry it TENDS to be. That doesn’t take away the beauty, it just means that we have to work extra by adding more moisture and shine to our hair. Be aware that level of extra moisture needed VARIES according to hair type and that even though our hair is dryer. ADDING PURE OILS are NOT the solution, CONDITIONER/MOISTURE IS! USE A PRE-SHAMPOO! I can honestly say that adding this step has made it so much SIMPLER to detangle and cleanse my hair. This helps ease prepare the hair for the actual wash, and that has also helped me reduce the amount of shampoo that I use, which is a bonus. I’ll be posting a set of products that are great in the near future, so be on the lookout! Hope this helps!

I have 2C/3A curls and my hair is very sensitive to protein. I only use hair products that are sulfate, silicone, and alcohol free (or have alcohol on the lower half on the ingriedents). I used to only deep condition or use a hair mask every other week but I only wash my hair once I week so I started using hair masks in place of conditioner and I’ve def seen a big difference in how soft my hair is! Anyway I’m rambling so NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Matcha Green Tea & Wild Apple Blossom Nutrient Rich Butter Masque is one of the three hair masks I currently have in my shower rotation. It’s one of my go to’s as far as a nourishing hair mask. It’s not too thick, I’m able to finger detangle pretty easily but make sure you rinse it out well because it can leave a waxy finish if you don’t. Ulta usually has a sale on the not your mother brand so I’m always able to stock up ☺️

Instant Shine hair mask
Instant Shine hair mask
🔍WHAT IS IT? A flash-acting hair mask that delivers moisture, softness and shine in 60 seconds. It is mainly for fine and medium hair texture. It has lightweight texture and the scent is not overpowering. Amika recommends: People with fine and oily hair types — use in place of conditioner Those with thick and dry hair types — use after conditioner . 🔍KEY INGREDIENTS: Hydrolyzed Flaxseed to moisturize and soften the hair, Red wine extract to provide antioxidants to hydrate and condition the hair, Amino acid complex and UV filters to smooth the hair cuticle and support hair elasticity. . 🔍MY EXPERIENCE: I have fine, wavy and dry hair. I, initially, applied this mask after shampooing my hair from roots to ends by sectioning the hair and squeezing the water out. I left it for 2 minutes. My hair felt soft and had a nice shine. However, this was not moisturizing enough for my hair. So, now I use it after my regular conditioner to add shine to my hair. . 🔍PRICE: $25 . This product is vegan- and cruelty-free. #CheriePartner #CherieCreator

My Favorite Products for Dry Hair 💦
I have thin hair that has been bleached blonde. It is super long and I struggle with breakage and dryness. I’ve found the following in the beauty community on Instagram and they’re amazing and now my go to products. ✨Honey-Infused Hair Oil by Gisou $87 for 3.4 fl oz or $46 for 1.7 fl oz This product can be used daily for as a pre-styler and finisher or added to a hair mask for extra hydration. It can also be used as an overnight treatment. Honey is the focus of this and it has minerals, vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants. It is a very hydrating product in skin and hair care so it’s perfect for my dryness. This product is gorgeous and they recently just launched at Sephora in the US. It is lightweight and smells incredible. This makes my hair look way better, feel softer and tames any flyaways. To use this, I take the dropper, fill it up to whatever it naturally pulls and rub my hands together with it before brushing it through damp hair or dry hair. I use this product daily in the mornings on slightly damp hair or dry hair. I tend to use it just once a day and pair it with their honey-infused hair perfume. ✨Number 5 by Olaplex This is the conditioner by Olaplex and I’ll use it every other day if not daily. This product repairs hair from the inside out with specialized technology. This product works on a molecular level to repair damaged bonds in the hair. It also increases the strength and restores elasticity and protects it from further breakage. They also have a great hair mask too! I find that nothing makes my hair feel healthier. It is thick and smells fruity in a light way. I adore this and want to try all of their products! ✨What are your favorite dry hair saviors? gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil OLAPLEX - No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner #CheriePartner
