How to Create a Textured Pixie Look

welcoming_bliss
Creating texture, especially on short hair, can be tricky and downright frustrating if you don't know how to encourage texture properly. As someone who has naturally curly texture, it has been easy for me to create that desired piecey look. For those of you whose hair resists texture at all costs, I will go as much into detail as possible to help encourage texture within your hair. To get this look you need: How to:
Start with clean towel-dried hair and begin blow-drying your pixie from the crown to your front hairline in a forward motion. Don't use a brush to blow dry, just use your fingers to rake through your hair. If you can, blow dry your hair following its natural growth pattern (wherever your hair wants to lay naturally), this will give you the best results and prevent any resistance from any unruly areas.
Once your hair is about 90% dry (still damp/cool to the touch), grab your Platinum Texturizing Taffy and add a fingernail size to your palm (just go by the size of your nail on your pointer finger). Rub your hands together to distribute and melt product; this will ensure even distribution onto your hair. Rake fingers through your hair in a forward and backward motion. Don't be afraid to make your hair super crazy to ensure you get the product all over (you should look like you just got electrocuted).
After you are finished applying, brush your fingers through your hair following your natural growth pattern to tame the craziness and begin blow-drying until hair is 100% dry.
To add the finishing touches, take your Dry Texturizing Spray and apply it to the roots through the midshaft of your hair. Do this in sections working your way back to your crown. Using your fingertips, shake, and massage hair at the roots to encourage volume.
Tip: For extra texture or pieceyness, take a tiny bit of your Platinum Texturizing Taffy on your fingertips and work different sections into a point by pinching and sliding your fingers from midshafts to ends. (if this is confusing let me know and I will post a demonstration) Feel free to share your finished styles or comment with any questions!

Achieve the Beachy Waves of Your Dreams🌊
For anyone who has grown out a pixie, you know there is that dreaded awkward stage. I know from experience that it would honestly feel better to give up on the grow-out than spend one more day trying to construct a style out of that mess of a mop. Don't fret; There is still hope yet, my lovelies. This relaxed wavy look is easy to recreate on even the hardest of days. Here's how to! Starting on damp hair, take your thermal protectant, I like to use KÉRASTASE - Discipline Blow-Dry Smoothing Primer it is just about the most amazing product for frizz control and heat protection. Apply Keratine Thermique evenly throughout hair. Establish deep side part and blow-dry using a small round brush, working all of the hair away from your hair line. Using a mini straightener (full size is fine, but on super short hair, it is easier to use a mini) take horizontal sections starting at the occipital bone (about two inches from the top of the back of your head) working your way forward to your hairline. In each section, twist your straightener downward as it glides through your hair. The result should look like a tightly spiraled curl (like Shirley Temple) don't worry, this is only the process, not the outcome! Do not touch the curls while they are hot or they will lose their shape, and it will be a mess to try to fix 😂 *Side note: when you get to the last section, which should be at your front hairline, be sure to direct the curl away from your face. Once you are finished curling, let the curls cool for a few minutes or until they are cool to the touch. Now is the fun part! Take your davines - This is a Sea Salt Spray and spritz the curls with it (don't soak them, just a light misting is fine). Run your fingers through your hair to break up the curls and begin molding your hair to your desired look. I brush my hair away from my face and give the roots a little shake to help will volume and separation. Don't be afraid to really get in there and play around with your hair. If you have a hard time with volume or you want to add some extra pieceyness and texture, then use ORIBE - Dry Texturizing Spray at the roots and give your hair/roots a shake. Remember, the goal is to achieve a natural wavy look. Your hair more than likely won't look like my hair in the photo. That's okay. It's not supposed to look like mine; it's supposed to look like yours! Play around with it and see what products as techniques your hair likes the most. Have fun with it!! ❤️

My Go-To Hairstyle!
I always feel my best when my hair looks it’s best haha! For me my best looking hair is a messy but glam, perfectly imperfect disheveled styling. I love this look because it’s sexy and easy to achieve and frames the face well. This effortless looking style perfectly accompanies my personal style and always gets me compliments. I have really fine hair so this gives it the illusion of volume and density. I find this look takes me about 15 to 20 min to create. It’s perfect for a Date with a hottie or a night out. Here’s how I get my look! 1. After I’ve allowed my hair to air dry after a shower I section it off using clips. I take the top portion of my hair at the crown and lift it away to reveal the lower layers. 2. I then go in using my Bio Ionic Graphine MX curing wand, curing pieces of hair towards my face and away from it starting from the back of the head to the front, rotating the barrel clockwise for one piece then counterclockwise for another, except the pieces that frame my face which I curl away from my face. Using this technique gives my hair a natural looking curl. I love this wand because it’s less damaging to my hair and it has a long barrel which speeds up the process. 3. After Curling my hair completely I will set the style using the iconic L’oreal Elnett extra strong hold hairspray. This hairspray helps hold the curl in my pin straight hair. This is the hairspray that’s been used on me backstage at shows my entire career and it really works, it’s a fashion week essential! 4. Taking my Tangle Teaser hair brush I then brush out the curls to give my hair a more wavy texture. This brush is very gentile on my fine hair, I also love that you can use this brush on wet and dry hair so it’s efficient. 5. For extra shine, moisture, and a beautiful scent I apply the Balmain Hair Couture Silk Mist all over my head. I’ve been using this product literally since it first came out and it really gives my hair a luxurious feel. It has Argan oil in it which nourishes dryness. I recommend this product to anyone who needs moisture, scent, and shine all in one product! Just don’t spray too much or your hair will look greasy. 6. I finish the style with a few sprays of the Oribe Dry Texturizing spray. This amazing smelling spray gives me a boost of volume and makes my hair look perfectly tussled! It’s not quite a dry shampoo and not quite a typical texture spray, it’s kinda a hybrid of the two. This Is another product I discovered backstage at shoots and shows, and has stayed on my beauty counter for years. If you want to treat yourself to something bougie this is the finishing spray for you!

High end VS Drugstore 🙇🏼‍♀️🙇🏼‍♂️
For me, the most important thing about buying a hair care product is cost performance! Because many products have high premiums, exquisite high-end packaging accounts for half of the cost. So every time I use a high-priced product with high expectations, I am often disappointed. And if you are just focus on the ingredients in the back list, not of much use. For me, the best way to evaluate is only for my own use. So when I buy product A, I alwaysl ask sales to provide me a sample of product B. There are some gaps in the price of the products I want to compare today. OI is defined as a high-end hair care product from DAVINES brand, and AUSSIE is a product that can be purchased by Walmart. However, I want to tell everyone that AUSSIE is really no worse than OI product. Package Design: Aussie is a squeezable bottle, which is more convenient to use. When not in use, the high-density silica gel in the squeeze port can seal the jar tightly. OI is a round can, and you need to grab it f each time. So I often make more. From this point of view, I prefer AUSSIE. Texture: AUSSIE is a translucent light yellow emulsion texture, which looks more moisturized. OI is a pure white texture with higher density and looks more astringent. This is related to his silicone-free formula. PRICE: Aussie is $14 for 250ml; and OI values $40 for the same size; they have a three times price difference! So dupe! For these two products, I prefer AUSSIE. Because I can truly feel that my hair become hydrated. Its texture makes me feel very comfortable. OI does not have any particularly big disadvantages, you can feel the hair becomes fluffy and it is not easy to produce oil. But for the same effect, who would be willing to choose a more expensive one? davines - OI Conditioner aussie - 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Hair Conditioner

Keep your new hair shade for longer👩🏻‍🎤
🤩ABOUT ME: SOFT AND THIN HAIR. DAMAGED DUE TO DYE. MEDIUM BROWN SHADE. I hardly dye my hair before, so my hair always in a shining condition. However, I blenched my hair a few months ago. It did damage my hair. I can feel my hair become dry. Fortunately, every time when I friend see my hair, they still think they are shining and my new hair shade is attractive. It must be related to my hair products! I have introduced Aussie hair mask before. This post is about my new hair product, OI conditioner, which has been used for over two weeks. I disliked this product when I first tried this. I did not know how to control the dosage from the circular container. And the texture is very dry. Moisturizing is not as well as Aussie. However! After cleaning my hair, they are really soft and hydrating. I wash my hair every two days. This product does not contain any benzoyl preservatives, so it is ideal for frequent daily use. Both Aussie and OI are effective in protecting damaged hair. But I prefer Aussie because it's more cost-effective. Every time you buy it, you can get a free travel suit : ) davines - OI Conditioner

Save my dry and damaged hair🔥🔥
PRICE: $34 for 180ml I am super fans of Davines and have introduced many of products from this brand in my previous posts, including OI product line’s OI conditioner,Naturaltech product line’s calming shampoo, and mediterranean product line’s MOMO shampoo and NOUNOU hair mask. For today, OI shampoo is my focused product. When matching with OI conditioner, the effect is quite satisfying. 👍🏻Advantages: 1. Ingredients are relatively safe, without sulfate/SLS that is a harmful chemical foaming agent. All hair type can use this. DAVINES is an environmentally friendly brand, so even the packaging is made of degradable plastic. 2. The OI series is specially designed for bleaching and dyeing damaged hair. After washing them off, you scalp is very clean and the hair is soft and smooth. 3 Bubbles are abundant! I love IT! 👎🏻Disadvantages: 1. I don’t like the smell. The fragrance is so strong sweet that it smells like I already have cavities. 2. Price is relatively high. This shampoo can promote the hair texture into smooth and soft, but not for hydrated condition. So I recommend your guys to mix with OI conditioner. The combination of these can create a surprising effect that your hair is fluffy but not dry! OI conditioner is more close to mask, leaving your hair on 3 to 5 minutes is perfect! davines - Oi Shampoo

My advice for bleached + colored hair!
I am no stranger to putting my hair through the ringer. I’ve literally done it all to my hair... and I mean shaved it, bleached it, rainbow.. EVERYTHING. One thing I was always stopped and asked was how I kept my hair so soft and healthy with all the bleach and processing. My best tips are pretty manageable, but also a big investment in your hair! >> Bleaching your hair << Go to a professional. Don’t fry your hair off please. It’s really not as simple as just applying bleach to your hair and BAM it’s lighter. NOPE. That’s not how it works. Everyone’s hair lifts different and has its own kind of undertone it will lift to. Some of us can go to platinum pretty quickly, but I could not. It was always an ALL day process for me. Be patient and don’t push your hair too far. It grows back, but do you really want to have to deal with bleach damaged hair? >> hair color! How to maintain it! << Color fades and it either looks cool or you need to get that touch up ASAP. wash your hair less frequently. Skip a few days and use dry shampoo. IGK - First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo use a color depositing shampoo/ conditioner! My favorite to use is Overtone. I have used the bright colors and the natural brown color from the brand. *WEAR GLOVES WHEN USING! Thank me later lol* OVERTONE - Magenta Coloring Conditioner OVERTONE - Coloring Conditioner try a gloss! It will add shine and color the outside of your hair strands. This will cover up greys as well. #dpHUE - Gloss+ Black[products]#[FiveStars] >> KEEPING YOUR HAIR HEALTHY!!<< It’s really all in the products you use and what heat you put on your hair. Invest in GOOD shampoo. My best recs: davines - Oi Shampoo This shampoo is great for ALL hair types. Adds shine, volume, nourishes and smooths hair. I religiously used this shampoo and conditioner. davines - Nourishing Vegetarian Miracle Conditioner SAVES MY HAIR EVERYTIME! this is an ultra repairing conditioner. It strengthens the hair and adds shine and softness. Basically gives your hair life again. R+Co - Atlantis Moisturizing Shampoo Super moisturizing shampoo with B5 in it! Instant hydration. This really helped my dry hair. This is especially great if you have a lot of heat damage. STOP WITH THE HEAT! let your hair air dry. Blow dryer can add so much more damage. use a scarf and braid your hair to get waves. Throw curlers in over night. simply limit your weekly heat use on your hair. don’t use the highest setting. Your hair doesn’t need 400 degrees to curl. USE HEAT PROTECTANT! make that hair style last honey! Use that dry shampoo instead of starting fresh the next day. use a spray conditioner! KRISTIN ESS - STYLE REVIVING Dry Conditioner Great for next day styling to add extra protection and hydration.

hairstyles for a chubby round face 😊
hairstyles for a chubby round face 😊
🌸 you can really see the difference in my comparison photos — i use my hair to cover my face and slim it down! 🌸 I’ve got no defined cheekbones, and my jawline is pretty wide — i got a round baby face! Its not always bad, but i have also got a wideee forehead that can make my head look a little big 🌸 my hair is naturally long and straight, and its not naturally blonde! i’ve got jet black hair that i get professionally done til it looks light 🌸 if you have a round face... use your hair to create shadows around your face by keeping it in front of your shoulders. A defined jawline can also be mimicked with a short haircut, as seen in the second photo. in the first and third photo, with no hair in front of my face, you can see how chubbi my face really is!

What to except from hair salons during SIP
What to except from hair salons during SIP
We are officially SIX MONTHS into social distancing and sheltering in place. Here in LA things have somewhat eased up with al fresco dining becoming available, stores opening up, and more outdoor activities (like drive in concerts and such) becoming available. The beauty world has also opened up with nail salons and hair salons now accepting clients, all with precautionary measures. I have yet to go to a nail salon but I did desperately need a haircut! After debating whether or not I should attempt an at-home cut, I ultimately decided to leave it up to pros. So, what is a cut during corona virus like? No wash and blow dry This one bummed me out a bit because getting my hair washed is one of my favorite parts of hair cuts! But no washing minimizes time in contact with each customer. They still style your hair with hot tools, though! Hair cuts done outside Technically, indoor hair salons and barber shops are meant to be closed still, but many businesses have simply moved their operations out doors in order to accommodate guests and keep their doors open. Prices are the same I guess a part of me thought that maybe hair cuts would be a tad cheaper to make up for the not-as-pleasant experience of sitting out in a parking lot, and not getting a wash and blow dry. But the level of expertise is still there and in times like these, I’m willing to pay what every hair stylists deserves! You know the saying, if you can’t pay the tip (in this case the rate) you can’t afford to get it done!

Ready for Pina Coladas Pineapple Hairstyle 🍍🍹
Ready for Pina Coladas Pineapple Hairstyle 🍍🍹
My hair type is kinky/curly with some frizz. 1 & 2: For this look, I start off by brushing out my hair for a more “straight fro” look. I detangle my hair with a spritz of water (in the green spray bottle I reused from Saje) and some of the GRAYDON - Intimacy Oil This oil is nice and light, containing hemp seed oil, adding a light sheen to the hair without being overbearing in scent nor consistency. 3. Then I bunch up all of my hair into the center top of my head and 4. as I’m tying up my hair, I let a bit of my hair ends hang outside of the scrunchie. I love this hairstyle as my go-to party look because I look fun and classy without having to worry about my hair getting super frizzy and sticking to my face over the course of the night, like when I’m dancing or you know 🤪
