best & blah hair products @ Sephora 🌟
BEST & BLAH 👉🏻 Sephora Edition 😌🙌🏼 We all know the holy grail products we can find at Sephora. For me, I flock to the shelves for Ouai, a haircare line quite popular in the IG community 💡Before trying out their line, I was always skeptical of the value in their products. Come on, is this really worth it? I was an avid fan of it's a 10 haircare - Leave-In Conditioner Spray Product , my holy grail for my wavy, thick hair (which, is extremely damaged!) I could always count on that single product after washing my hair to smooth my hair and aid in softening my ends. Eventually, I had to try out Ouai haircare. After bleaching my hair to its absolute end, I knew I needed to find quality products when it came to styling my hair. My hair had always been picky with the products it uses, especially when it came to styling products. Sticky, thick and too drying formulas turn me off. So, when needing to find my “best and blah,” I knew I had to put Ouai in the hot seat. 1. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray This one left my hair tacky, even with a minimal amount of product sprayed on. My waves weren’t much defined as they would be without this product. This one is $12 (small bottle) at Sephora. Worth it? No, not in my opinion. A better alternative is NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Soft Waves Spray . 2. OUAI - OUAI Volume Spray Hmmm.. perhaps my hair is thick enough to have volume already. Nevertheless, I was not a huge fan of this volume spray. I used it before blowing my hair out and all it did for me was add more product onto my hair, no volume. Worth it? No 😭 I tried my best to like this product but I can’t bring myself to pay $26. 3. OUAI - Dry Shampoo Foam A NEW DRY SHAMPOO FAVORITE! I love this formula (mousse-like) and the smell. It leaves a refreshing and cooling feeling on my scalp. Worth it? YES. I’ll definitely be buying this again, worth the $28! 4. gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil This is a great hair oil, don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the packaging, the consistency and the result of my hair after smoothing this into it; HOWEVER, $46 doesn’t sit right with me for a hair oil so is it worth it? Not for me. 5. eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer I enjoyed the smell and lightweight spray of the nozzle, offering a lighter application of the product. But, too much and your hair gets STICKY. Beware of the amount you use. If used right, it’s worth your time. Worth it? $12 for a great heat protectant is worth it to me! 6. gisou - Propolis Infused Polishing Primer Ehhhh, I couldn’t find the value in this for me. I heard a lot of people talk about their hair feeling smoother after styling once using this; however, I personally couldn’t notice a difference. I loved the creamy texture but I can’t purchase it again. Worth it? $34 isn’t worth it for me 😭

Dealing with humidity hair 😱
If you’re like me and have hair that loves to expand in humidity and also live in a place with very humid summers, you know the struggle of finding products that take the fluff without making your hair look weighed down! I recently started using the gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil and have found this to be the perfect tool for keeping my hair in check! The oil is a little thick at first but when you rub it between your hands, it thins out. I use one drop to cover all of my medium length hair and there’s no notice of an oily residue left behind. All it does is smooth down that top layer of fluff, and give my hair a really nice shine overall. It has a faintly sweet smell that doesn’t last very long. I will definitely repurchase because somehow this oil feels nothing like an oil on but does all the magic that an oil should! The gisou - Propolis Infused Polishing Primer has been nice but I haven’t had a solid chance to try it while heat styling my hair (which I haven’t done because quarantine life!!) when I apply this to my hair while it’s wet, it does seem to stop some of the frizz from happening as my hair air dries but I feel like it would best be used when blowing my hair out.

Original Queenie!
Original Queenie!
I’ve come to discover over the years that one of the most underrated hair styling products is hairspray. I think that people are intimidated by it or they think you only use it for special occasions (when you curl your hair or put it up in an up-do). However, hairspray is a great everyday product that most people can benefit from in their styling routine. The first step is finding the right hairspray! My new personal favorite is O&M’s Original Queenie Firm Hold Hairspray. The number one reason why it’s my new fav is that its clean beauty product which can be hard to find in an aerosol hairspray. This product is cruelty-free, PETA approved, and formulated without gluten, triclosan, MIT, and propylene glycol. It also has Sephora’s “Clean at Sephora” seal of approval. Queenie contains Australian native active lilly pilly which helps control oil in the hair leaving it looking shiny and clean as well as extending the style. Although the name says firm hold, I still find the formula flexible, not sticky. My favorite way to use this hairspray is to spray your hands with a little Queenie and then gently smooth all the frizzy hairs along your part, I then take my hands and use the rest to smooth and define my ends. After that I give my hair an all over spritz because this hairspray smells AMAZING and holds my curls or straightening all day!

Dealing with curly, thick, dry hair...
Dealing with curly, thick, dry hair...
Hi friends! I have had thick, curly, dry hair for my whole life. Bleaching it definitely added to the dryness and frizziness! Because my hair is so dry, I NEVER use hot tools on it, nor do I ever blow dry. Air drying is key for this hair type—especially if you have a wall of dense, thick hair like me! When air drying, first I’ll let my hair chill after the shower for about an hour (towel drying is NOT a thing with thick hair lmaooo) so my roots are less damp but my ends are still soaked. Then, I’ll take a quarter sized amount of a curl styling cream (today I’m using the Briogeo - Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave–In Defining Cream — it is so good for my curls and inexpensive) and finger comb it through my hair. This prevents tangles and knots from forming. Then, to make sure the product is evenly dispersed i will wet my hands with water and finger comb back through. To keep my hair out of my face while it’s air drying, I’ll usually clip or pin it back with bobby pins. 24 hours later through the humidity my hair is less frizzy than it should be, but the leave in curl cream is still in there so you can refresh your curls by finger combing again with wet hands! This cream lets me have my hair styled like this for the whole week before I wash again! What’s your main tip for thick, frizzy, curly hair?

I love beach waves it’s such a natural and classy look and it’s so fun to do and I love the volume it adds to my hair.. I love using my hair care products before I put heat on my hair I like to use TRESemmé - Keratin Smooth Keratin Infusing Smoothing Serum because it helps with frizzy hair and my hair can get pretty frizzy after drying and my baby hairs love to stick up so it’s great for the perfect slick to pull down my hair ..... it’s not a heat protectant oil it’s more for a sleek shine and helps with frizz and fly ways it’s great for a flawless and sleek finish to your hair, great for styling it has Marula oil and smells amazing ... you can apply it to wet or dry hair of your choice :) but for heat protectant spay I love to use the TRESemmé - Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Leave In Spray helps to protect heat for damaging your hair and I used it while my hair is damp

My Secret Weapon!
My Secret Weapon!
Lots of my clients only use Bobby pins to hold their style because they’re unsure how to use a hair pin. Since hair pins are straight, often people are afraid that they will fall right out of their hair. If this is a concern, all you have to do is bend one leg and it will catch the hair and stay in place! Give hair pins a try- they are awesome for adding texture or just for a little bit of extra hold!

SUMMER WAVES I’VE BEEN LOVING FOR PARTIES✨
SUMMER WAVES I’VE BEEN LOVING FOR PARTIES✨
My hair is straight and lays flat on my head so for nights out I love to add some texture to it with waves/curls. A new curling wand I have been loving is the CONAIR - Double Ceramic Triple Barrel Waver It creates effortless waves in as little as 15 minutes. How to: To start, I prep my hair with MOROCCANOIL - Moroccanoil Treatment to add some shine and tame down fly-always, and CHI - 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray to protect from heat damage. Next, I work in 1-2 inch sections starting from the back to the front until all the hair is complete. As you can see, I start from the top of the hair piece and work my way down the hair. I hold the wand for about 5 seconds over each section. Lastly, I add drybar - Triple Sec 3-in-1 Finishing Spray Blanc Scent for some extra texture and volume. Have you tried a 3-barrel curling wand yet? I would love to try a wand with larger barrels.

✨ Thick Hairstyles - Second Day Hair ✨
✨ Thick Hairstyles - Second Day Hair ✨
I have thick hair that easily gets frizzy, especially second day hair (or third, or fourth, depends how long I don’t wash it for lol). I typically only wash my hair every 2-4 days (depending on the type of activity I do that day, like exercise or go get groceries or just work on schoolwork). To allow my hair to last longer, I’ll usually use these hairstyles and products so that I can deal with the frizz. I love doing half-up hairstyles anytime I wash my hair, but especially when my hair starts to get frizzy! I hate when my hair gets all over my face. I usually do either a simple ponytail that’s holds the top half of my hair. I also like doing a ponytail with a braid, but that can be a little more difficult because you can’t see the back of your head as well or make sure the braid is straight and doesn’t start going to the side lol. After I finish the braid, I kind of tug/pull it apart so that it looks thicker. Another options is to just throw it into a messy bun on the back of your head! I like to use a spray leave-in conditioner to help nourish my hair and hairspray to lock them. This hairstyle also looks really cute with a headband to keep flyaways out of your face. . dpHUE - Apple Cider Vinegar Leave-in Hair Therapy Key Ingredients: Apple Cider Vinegar (restores healthy pH to smooth the hair surface and seal the cuticle, quickly absorbs into hair to provide weightless conditioning), Argan Oil, Macademia Oil, Dandelion Extract and Aloe Vera (moisturize, condition, and add shine without weighing hair down). Scent: Apple Cider Vinegar Consistency/Texture: Lightweight Spray Price: $30 for 6.5 oz / 192 mL Experience: This has a very strong scent, but it does dissipate quickly. I haven’t noticed much in terms of conditioning or frizz control, but it’s a decent product. It has a minimal amount, but I don’t think I’d purchase the full size unless it was on sale. It doesn’t weigh down my hair or make it look greasy, which was why I gave it 3 stars. Other than that, it doesn’t deliver much and the scent is not something I enjoy. It’s an average leave-in product, I’ll use it up but probably wouldn’t recommend or repurchase it (unless it’s half off or more). . REDKEN - Triple Take 32 Extreme High-Hold Hairspray Scent: Strong hairspray smell Consistency/Texture: Can leave behind a crunchy feel on the hair Price: $12 for 4 oz / 115 g OR $24 for 9 oz / 255 g Experience: It says it gives root lift and volume, but I haven’t used it for that purpose. I usually just use it to set a hairstyle into place and it works great for that! It can leave behind a stiff and crunchy feeling in the hair if you use too much, but it gives a great hold. I can use this in the morning and expect my hairstyle to last the whole day and not droop or get any flyaways or frizz. The nozzle is nice and gives a fine mist that is easy to control. It doesn’t leave my hair dry or make it knotty when I try to brush it out.
