3C/4A texture wash day (sensitive skin 👌🏽)
Because I’m prone to eczema on my neck, I have to be really careful with my haircare. I used to consistently use Shea Moisture, but unfortunately their products are too heavy on the fragrance for me, so I tried different “clean” lines that were either greenwashing and/or just didn’t support my kind of hair texture 👩🏽🦱 Now I’m finally satisfied with my hair wash and conditioning process thanks to these products! Pure Anada’s line is almost doing it for my type of hair, I feel like the conditioner could just be a little richer and then it’d be a 5 ⭐️ for my coils. I did use some of my old Shea Moisture conditioner to detangle some super tangled strands. I like the use of rosemary in the Pure Anada s+c though, due to its hair growth properties, which I can use for a bald patch that I discovered on my nape last year. After washing, I deep conditioned with the coconut milk mask & oils (castor (4/5 bc of dense scent) on scalp to promote hair growth & the apricot and intimacy oil (not for sex! 🤪 contains hemp) all over for that nice sheen.) Check out that curl pattern before and especially after a twist out! Whew we’ve honestly come a long way, I’ll have to show you guys my hair transformation journey at some point🤳🏽 Pure Anada - Shampoo - Peppermint Rosemary Pure Anada - Conditioner - Peppermint Rosemary GRAYDON - Intimacy Oil om - Coconut Milk Hair Mask SheaMoisture - Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Conditioner Sunny Isle - THE ORIGINAL SUNNY ISLE JAMAICAN BLACK CASTOR OIL now - Solutions, Apricot Oil

Hey lovelies, I’m so excited to be here, a social media app for skincare - whaaaat a dream come true! 💫 My personal skincare journey began when I started getting eczema on my neck, face, arms, legs in university, which I graduated with a BScience. I knew about the risks of using topical steroids, so I’ve been adamant on finding holistic ways to treat my case of eczema by first understanding the root cause. It’s a complex journey, as I’ve come to understand that there are different causes for eczema, such as stress, nutrition deficiencies, allergies, genetics, etc. So I began looking into skincare to find ways to manage my skin health while figuring out my entire health 🤪 Growing up with sensitive skin, I stayed away from most beauty products to avoid getting adverse reactions from certain synthetic ingredients... until I started looking into the benefits of clean, plant-based ingredients. And I make sure to look out for greenwashing! 🤓 I’ve since found that when I use the right ingredients, my skin actually thanks me. I now also look at skincare as part of self care rituals that our ancestors took on for many generations. In the past couple years, my passion has been focused on working out a skincare formula to soothe eczema-related rashes and infections. In the meanwhile, I’ve started working at a conscious, ethical beauty studio, Portia-Ella that carries ~40 Canadian brands, mostly led by women. I love working with our empowering team, which fuels my growth/self-development. We get a lot of training on ingredients and interact with various skin types, so I’m always happy to help! 🥰 In these photos, from Valentine’s Day, I’m holding some of my favourite skincare products of all-time, which you can find at Portia-Ella (online too.) I’ll be reviewing them in future posts 🤩 What’s your current skincare obsession? 🙌🏽

2-in-1 Cleansing Balm + Makeup Remover 🧼
This cleansing balm, from a sustainable beauty brand in Vancouver, provides such a feel-good cleansing experience! Works for any skintype, inclusive of even sensitive, eczema-prone skin. Massaging the soothing balm into my damp skin turns it into a milk that gently breaks apart the makeup/debris from the day. Unlike some oil-based cleansers, it washes away super easily, while leaving my skin soft and moisturized. If you enjoy earthy, lemony scents this one is especially for you! 🌿🍋 WOODLOT - Nourishing Cleansing Balm

Oil control serum for my acne prone babes!
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum: the blemish and pore decongesting serum blend of my dreams. This is a pretty concentrated and potent serum meant to be the solutions for oiliness and pore congestion for all skin types. This is a high strength vitamin and mineral blemish formula with 10 percent pure niacinamdie and one percent zinc PCA to balance sebum production. She is a very lightweight water-texture serum that absorbs into the skin nicely. I am currently on my 5th bottle of this product and will probably repurchase until I am old and no longer have acne issues. I do find myself going through this product pretty quickly, but at 5.90USD for a 1oz bottle, I cant complain. I think this is a perfect serum for anyone struggling with acne, oiliness, PIH or other acne scarring, and congestion. I do find the zinc in this formula especially helpful for my cystic acne and helps to heal it quickly or keep it at bay altogether. I love how well the niacinamide tends to brighten any red PIH spots that I am struggling with. I typically use this AM and Pm, for best results, mixed into another hydrating serum because it does have a tendency to pill. If I mix it in with another product, it does play well with the rest of my routine and layers well under makeup. I do not have any problems with this being drying or irritating. This serum has no color or smell to it, also only includes clean ingredients. I highly recommend this product! The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Avocado melt retinol sleeping mask
GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Face Mask 🥑 I want to talk to you guys about my favorite retinol product I've used so far, the @glowrecipe avocado melt glow sleeping mask! Firstly, I've gotta say I automatically love anything avocado themed and this makes me feel like I'm literally putting avocado on my face because the texture resembles it so much, it's green and creamy. Some fun facts about the product is that it contains encapsulated retinol, which allows the retinol to slowly release, as well as PHAs which gently exfoliate. As for the performance of the product itself, I am very impressed. I love the fact that this is also a nourishing night mask, because it combats the dryness that retinol can give you. In the mornings after I use this, my face always looks rejuvenated, but also very moisturized. Overall, this would be amazing for anyone looking for a retinol that is non-drying! I've been trying to find the percentage of retinol in this, but can't find the information anywhere, so if anybody knows, let me know! .

TikTok Beauty Hack: At-Home Manicure
I am the worst at painting my own nails and always end up with sheet marks and unwanted texture whenever I try to give myself a manicure. After years of failing miserably at at-home manicures, I found a TikTok hack that helps nails dry quickly and evenly...and it’s the most simplest thing ever - All you need is a cup of ice water and 30 seconds! First, paint your nails your favorite color with your favorite nail polish. I chose a pretty periwinkle from Sinful Colors and did my best to paint each nail evenly. Next, dip your hand into a cup of ice water for about 20-30 seconds. Don’t touch your nails after they’re out and wait about 5 minutes and voila! Your coat is dried and smooth and ready to go!
Good mild anti aging serum but a bit drying
The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid* 2% Emulsion This retinoid is available in different strengths, and this is described as moderate strength with no irritation. This is a granactive retinoid, which means it uses next-generation retinol which according to the ordinary, have been shown to reduce signs of aging with lesser irritation. This is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women. If you look at the texture of this (see texture photo), it comes in a yellowish, lightweight liquid that is not particularily moisturizing. It is meant to be used in the evenings after cleansing and before heavier moisturizers like oils or creams. It is silicone free so it's appropriate for acne prone skin. In my late 30s, I'm very interested in retinols because they are the one tried and true anti aging ingredient. I have more fine lines than I'd like, but retinol use is scary because of the irritation, peeling and flaking associated with even mild overuse of retinols. I've been using this nightly for a while and I do think it has helped the texture of my skin and some of the very fine lines. It won't help deep wrinkles in the forehead but it is useful if you are starting to develop small lines. I haven't experienced peeling or irritation, but I do find that my skin is quite DRY after using this. I think this is a good product but aging skins would benefit more from a higher concentration of retinol in a more moisturizing base, like The Ordinary's squalene retinol line. This is priced extremely fairly at $9.80. For a full 30 ml bottle, spending under $10 on a good retinol is a deal! I'll give this 4/5 stars. It's a good product but I did feel like it made my skin dry and could have had a higher percentage of active ingredient which would have given me better results.
