Affordable & amazing body scrub alert!! This bad boy from Dove is equal parts moisturizing & exfoliating & is a great addition to any shower routine. I discovered this by accident at the drugstore and have been obsessed ever since! The exfoliating scrub is nestled into a creamy lotion making it a gentle yet effective way of exfoliating your body!
Dove -Exfoliating Body Polish Crushed Macadamia & Rice Milk
Hyped products that missed the mark - Myro Deo
I was so excited when I was finally making a trip to Target so I could try the deodorant I had seen all over my insta! After the first use I noticed it was a lot softer than I expected, so soft that it left residue over the edges of the container. I hadn’t stored it anywhere overly warm, so I couldn’t understand why the texture became like this but then I began to say others complain about the same thing! Honestly, I couldn’t even try to get a fair review of this because of how awful the consistency of this deodorant was.
Drugstore products that saved my lips!
Burt’s Bees conditioning lip scrub is something I go in with when my lips are feeling dry/when prepping my lips for lipstick, to remove dry skin and keep my lips smooth and moisturized! This has come in especially handy this winter with my skin being more dry than it usually is. This scrub is sweet and crumbly when scrubbing it onto my lips, and can be licked off or washed off with water like most scrubs. I like to spread it on using my hands & then press my lips together for an extra scrub before removing it. Overall, I think this is a great product at drugstore pricing!
BURT'S BEES-Burt’s Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub 7.08g
Drugstore products that saved my hands!
This hand cream is truly the only one that effectively treats my eczema & heals any cracks/rashes caused by it! I’ve been using this all winter & it has left my hands free of eczema all winter! It’s unscented & has a bit of an oily texture but it absorbs into my skin almost immediately so the oil does not last. Truly a made for sensitive skin product, so happy I found this!
Aveeno-Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream
Hollywood Flawless Filter by Charlotte Tilbury!
This was one of the first liquid highlighter/complexion products that I purchased after seeing one of my favourite influencers talk about it. It can be used on top of makeup, underneath to add an extra glow, or even mixed into foundations & bb/cc creams! the combinations are truly endless. I use this in shade 3: light/medium & love using it as a highlight on my cheekbones! It adds such a nice natural glow that is hard to find in other highlighting products. So little is needed no matter which way you use this product that the bottle can honestly last for ages! A cult fave for a reason!
Drugstore Products That Work - Nubalance Lotion
NUBALANCE - Skin Relief Oatmeal Daily Moisturizing Lotion *Skin is normally dry and prone to eczema/KP Ok so last week of Cherie’s Picks. Let’s 👏🏼 Do 👏🏼 This 👏🏼 We’re starting off with some cheap drugstore products that you never expect to work but you’re there and you’re in a pinch so you buy it. This product is high up there in that category. In fact, I didn’t even technically buy this for myself. My grandpa noticed I had been getting rashes on my arms and they were super itchy because of my dry winter skin and whipped this out and told me I needed to use it. Gotta love gramps. They sell this at some local drugstores and even the dollar store - which is where gramps bought this one for a cool $2. So like point one because $2 for this whole bottle? A deal whether it works or not. The thing is though that it actually DOES work. It’s a cream lotion but it’s not super thick and almost even has a gel like texture to it. Like almost water based cream? I love it. It absorbs really well and leaves me moisturizer for DAYS without having to continuously reapply. It also claims to relieve skin of itch and cracks and I can support that it does. I’m not sure if it’s the oatmeal or another ingredient but it almost gives off a cooling effect when you apply it and any itches I have because my skin is so dry is immediately soothed. I needed something like this so badly because I was scratching my skin raw 😫 The tube is easy enough and pretty standard for a body lotion. I would of course prefer a pump but I won’t complain because again - $2. I know this doesn’t have the brand name and to be honest I haven’t really sat and read the ingredient list but I see good results and I’ll definitely finish the tube and could see myself repurchasing if I just needed a quick and cheap lotion to replace it!

Drugstore Products That Work - Aveeno Eczema
Aveeno - Eczema Therapy Itch Relief Balm, 11 oz (312 g) *skin is dry and prone to eczema Ok well we’re on this I have dry skin this winter - what drugstore products will work for it - train, lets talk about Aveeno. I have a soft spot in my heart for Aveeno. As a giant Friends fan, I will buy anything Jennifer Anniston tells me to. I know that’s exactly what Aveeno wants but they got me 🤷🏻♀️ I actually didn’t even realize that Aveeno had an eczema treatment line and was absolutely ecstatic to try this balm when I found out. Again they sell Aveeno at Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart, Rexall, etc for relatively cheap. Probably anywhere from $12-20 a bottle depending on the product. I got this lil baby sample from my mom, as she works for a doctors office and usually gets samplers from drug reps which she generously passes along to me 😇 To be honest, I’m really not sure if this product is intended for body use or face use or both? It’s very thick though and I’ve been very hesitant to try it on my face, so I usually use it at night on my hands and elbows and any eczema flares. I find that it does work for some moisture and helps to reduce some of the redness and itchiness in the flare ups. However, it’s only getting 3 stars because even though it claims to not be sticky, it is and it leaves a pretty thick residue that I find impossible to have it sink in completely. Thus, it makes it a pretty messy product. That’s primarily why I only use it at night because it would stick to all my clothing during the day. Additionally, it’s in a pot and y’all already know I don’t like products in a pot - petition to have all products be dispensable ty. For eczema treatment in a drugstore brand this product works. It’s affordable and it does the trick. It’s not necessarily my favourite eczema treatment but again I’ll use up the product and maybe repurchase if I were in a pinch!

Drugstore Products That Work - Versed Vit C
VERSED - FOUND THE LIGHT Powder With VC *skin is normally oily/combo but has been dry recently. Does Versed count as drugstore? I think it does? It’s affordable and sold at target right? That’s drugstore. Ok good glad we agree. So Target. My favourite place on earth. I miss Canadian Target so dearly. Anyway, I headed over to the states last year and of course stopped in at Target and this is how I tried Versed for the very first time. I had seen the brand all over the skinstagram world and had heard such great things about it. There were so many products that I wanted to try but this ultimately was the very first product I tried from them. This is a Vitamin C brightening powder which is just revolutionary. Instead of a vitamin C serum or cream, this is a literal powder that you can mix in with any of your favourite moisturizers. That’s initially what called to me about this product. I like to change my moisturizer (and really all of my skincare) depending on what my skin needs and so this being a powder that I can mix in with whatever is super helpful. It means that I can still get some vitamin c and some brightening worked into my routine whether I’m using a gel moisturizer or a cream moisturizer or whether my skin is oily or dry. This little bottle has lasted me so long because you only need to use a little bit of powder to mix in and it’s so easy to do. I just apply my moisturizer in my hand and put the powder on top and blend it in. It mixes so nicely with any consistency. I think this was only about $12 USD so about $15 CAD for me? I definitely think it’s worth it because I’ve been able to make it last for so long and it’s such a versatile product. I will say I don’t see a ton of results in terms of brightening but I do like the idea of just having a Vitamin C in my routine and I feel like it helps to even out my skin tone! Would definitely recommend trying this product!

Drugstore Products That Work - Maybelline BB
MAYBELLINE - Dream Fresh BB Cream Light *skin is normally oily/combo but has recently been dry. Woooooo drugstore makeup, throwback! Remember when this just used to be your core foundation in high school? Ugh the good old days. Now I pay $50 for foundation 😭 Anyway, I am the type of person that always has a foundation and tinted moisturizer/BB cream on deck for when my mood changes. I like to have a lighter, less expensive option for base makeup for when I’m just running errands or don’t feel like doing a full face of makeup but still want some coverage. A friend of my recommended this BB cream to me and I was easily able to pick it up on sale for $13 at Shoppers Drug Mart - let’s get those optimum points 👏🏼 I didn’t test the shade before buying and I still ended up with a pretty good match. I think I bought the shade light as my skin is normally in that fair to light range with pinky undertones. If there’s the option to by a colour with undertones outlined I will usually pick neutral just as an FYI. The shade is a little bit pink but I find it’s easy to blend out. It’s definitely not full coverage, which is what I wanted, so blending is easy but building is possible. I usually use a beauty blender to apply. It doesn’t dry my skin out but I also find it helps with some oil and shine control! I don’t use this everyday so this little tube has lasted me a few months now. it’s definitely a product that I was hesitant to use but was happy to find that I liked it. I would recommend having it in your makeup routine as a backup for when you’re just not feeling a full foundation. I will probably repurchase.

BITE - Amuse Bouche Lipstick
BITE - Creamy Color 4-Piece Mini Amuse Bouche Supercharged Lipstick Set *skin is normally oily/combo but has recently been dry. Okay so I’ve tagged the BITE beauty lipstick set here because this is technically where I got this from. This is just the fave shade of the set and the one I reach for the most. I got this set on sale at Sephora just after Christmas, I believe and it was such a good deal. I think it was on sale for $17???? Four lipsticks!! Amazing. They’re little minis and they’re so cute. I’m a sucker for nude lipstick and probably have nothing short of 100 different nude shades from any which brand and I just can’t resist buying them on my hunt for my perfect nude (in the lead is of course MACs Honeylove but this is also great). I think this colour is cocoa and it’s the darkest of the set but it’s really not that dark when it’s on the lips. It has some orange-ish undertones but overall the shade is a brown nude. I love wearing it with some brown/champagne eye shadows and I find it looks great when I’m wearing dark hunter greens. It’s definitely more of night/going out shade than a day time/work shade but I feel like you could even mix it with a lighter lip liner to make it more versatile. The actual formula on these lippies is great. They’re somewhere in between a matte and a cream finish but they apply so easily, with pigment that doesn’t really need to be layered to see the true colour. It’s super easy to get those angles on the lips without overdrawing too much. They’re also super easy to take on the go because they’re mini. Plus again; they’re adorable. I would definitely recommend trying your perfect nude shade in these lippies and would definitely purchase the full sizes!

Charlotte Tilbury - Airbrush Foundation
Charlotte Tilbury - Airbrush Flawless Foundation *skin is normally oily/combo but has recently been dry. Omg. Charlotte Tilbury. I feel like this brand came from no where and all of a sudden it blew up on Instagram and I get it. I get why. I was 10000% influenced to buy this by @breakfastatellies on Instagram and I have 0 regrets. I picked this up when I was visiting Sephora in Calgary (holla at the 5% tax) and I honestly have not looked back. I had been using the NARS matte foundation for YEARS and I was nervous to branch out because I loved that one so much and it matched so perfectly. I was legitimately shocked that I could love another foundation as much if not more than the NARS one. But here she is. I believe this again is the shade light neutral and it matches so so so perfectly. Again my skin is usually fair to light with pink undertones. I’m also obsessed with the way this applies. It’s so light and still provides a medium to full coverage and it’s easy to build up. It never feels me feeling Cakey and blends so well with my beauty blender. It also never interacts weirdly with my other skincare products which is a BLESSING. It also lasts all day without getting weird and creasy. At $50 it’s a little bit cheaper than my NARS foundation for about the same amount of product. It is a little bit pricey but at this point I’m used to spending this much on foundation so I think it’s worth it. The packaging is also glass and beautiful so definitely buy this because I for sure am going to keep repurchasing until I die.
