✨A Buffet for your Skin✨
I love using this product for my daily skin routine to add little bit of hydration. The "buffet" from the ordinary has multitasking water-based serum which cleverly targets multiple signs of skin ageing and improves overall skin health. It helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, boost hydration, fade pigmentation, brighten dull skin, and firm and smooth skin texture. The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' ✨Don't forget to like and follow for more✨ also follow my Instagram page at @sweet_citrustea
I'm on the Fence, What do You Think? ✨
Food for your skin? Haha maybe, the name is inspired by those amazing restaurant phenomenons that seem to have disappeared during the pandemic😉. This is because it contains more ingredients than the usual single ingredient products Deciem offers through this line. It has a lot of appeals, but let's address some issues with this and see if a solution is possible. The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' It's a little acidic and tingly for a serum. I like a serum that gives me a soothing sensation and this definitely does not. It is supposed to tingle a little bit because of the peptides, but it's not something I want to experience every day! I don't like how this sits under makeup, it begins to pill and feels like it sits on top of my skin, so it prevents my makeup from absorbing properly. There are a lot of people reviewing this saying that they see no results. I think they should double check the interactions of other products they may be mixing with this. There is a do not mix list of ingredients to note while using this. The following ingredients may affect the performance of the peptides or cause irritation, so get these out of your skincare routine if you try this! Vitamin C Direct acids such as glycolic acid or lactic acid or salicylic acid. Niacinamide (what!? My fave ingredient!?) Retinol Considering this list, I had to change my daily moisturizer which is also my SPF that contains Niacinamide and lactic acid. Is it worth it? I'm not sure yet lol. I'm thinking because it also doesn't sit well under makeup, It might become a bedtime serum for me. Letting this work its magic overnight seems more appealing and then I can follow it with a soothing serum in the morning 🙂. This works for me, but if you are a religious retinol user it might not fit into your routine. Overall, this product is trickier to use than it may seem. They advertise it as an all in one miracle, but you can't mix it with many products. You need to be strategic to see results. There may be a solution to the tingling. Possibly diluting it with a basic moisturizer like you can do with The Ordinary Vitamin C serum... But most tingling products do this for a reason, so idk. It's a “find what works for you” kind of product and although I don't think it's a bad one, I also think it depends on your skincare routine and objectives. If you prioritize certain ingredients like I do (Niacinamide and lactic acid) then maybe it's not worth it to you? P.s Some deeper info on this products key workers! Peptides – Peptides are the proteins and molecules that make up the building blocks of skin, and keep it feeling smooth, firm, and bouncy. They send signals to cells which encourages them to produce more collagen (which our bodies loose as we age). Matrixyl – Matrixyl is a powerful peptide blend which is formulated to have really long-lasting results. It specifically targets collagen production and repairs damage. Probiotics – Prebiotics are a food source for probiotics (‘good’ bacteria). By feeding and increasing the amount of probiotics, they lead to a stronger skin barrier and improved moisture retention. Amino acids – Amino acids work to strengthen skin, maintain hydration levels, improve resilience, and contribute to an overall healthy appearance. They also protect skin from free-radical damage that can lead to signs of ageing. Hyaluronic acid – Hyaluronic acid acts like a magnet to draw moisture into the skin. Each molecule can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, so it massively improves skin’s hydration levels.

Textured skin, bumps not going away!
I have sensitive combination skin so I’m very aware of which products I put on my face. I struggle with fungal acne properly known as malassezia folliculitis and they’re a result of an overgrowth of yeast. I never wear makeup but I’m so embarrassed by it!!! The current products I’m using are: HERBIVORE - Jasmine Green Tea Oil Control Toner PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel Exfoliant The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane For AM and PM. These products work as they’re controlling fungal acne but it’s not clearing it. My biggest skin concern is blackheads, texture and dullness. Any recommendations?

Starting tretinoin and spironolactone
After 6 months of researching products and learning more about my skin and what works, I have finally found out the root cause of my acne. I feel like I’ve always had a good, consistent skincare routine. I’ve even made good lifestyle choices such as changing my pillow case every week, cutting out diary, limiting junk food, and drinking lots of water. However, I did not see any improvements with my skin. I mainly break out on my cheeks, chin, and jawline, especially when I’m on or about to start my period. I recently consulted a doctor for free thanks to my university’s student health services. She told me that this is hormonal for sure. I had been producing an excess of androgen hormones which lead to more oil production and eventually more acne. She prescribed me with spironolactone and tretinoin. I started taking these medications a few days ago. I think I’m in the purge period right now. I’m so glad I finally have closure on what has been causing my acne. I’ve never had serious acne problems in the past so this has been really frustrating. Current skincare routine: Morning: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide Night: íUNIK - Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil I also use the THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser every other night. If I need to subside a pimple, I would use Rael - Acne Healing Patch or the COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch I’ve been taking spironolactone every morning and applying my .025% tretinoin every other night. I’m giving my skin time to adjust to the tretinoin so I will start applying it nightly next week. For those who have taken spironolactone or tretinoin: how long did it take for you to see less breakouts? And can I still use my salicylic acid cleanser while on tretinoin?
HELP I’ve tried everything!
I’ve been trying to take extra care of my skin for the past 4 months but nothing seems to be working. Morning routine: CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide Night routine: THE FACE SHOP - Rice Water Bright, Light Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - SA Lotion For Rough & Bumpy Skin pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil Every few nights, I alternate between Paula’s Choice 2% BHA exfoliant and the CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol in place of The Ordinary Niacinamide. In addition to this routine, I wash my pillow case every week, eat relatively healthy, and don’t wear any makeup. I also use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solutiononce a week for 10 minutes. I have acne-prone combination skin. My struggles are acne scars and bumps/texture on my cheeks. I’d especially like to know how to get rid of the bumps and what’s causing them. I also recently abstained from my actives for 2 weeks in hopes of my skin clearing up but that obviously didn’t work. I’ve been using my CeraVe products for almost 2 years. My skin only started breaking out more once I incorporated more products little by little. I don’t think this is considered purging because this has been going on for 3 months. I also don’t think this is maskne because I rarely leave my house. PLS HELP! I feel like I’ve done all I can. I can’t even see a dermatologist because I don’t have insurance. #help #helpmyskin

Top Cleansers of 2020!
Starting off with my top first cleanses because it’s important to double cleanse!!! Top Oil Cleanse: TATCHA - Pure One Step Camellia Oil Cleanser This cleanser is one that I won’t stop talking about. It’s a great texture that emulsifies easily and doesn’t leave a film on my skin at all. It’s pricey, but it’s an experience. Top Cleansing Balm: FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm I picked this up while travelling (sigh... early 2020...) and I was surprised how much I enjoyed this. I’m very much one to not buy into the hype of products, but now I understand why there is so much hype! It’s a sorbet texture that emulsifies and doesn’t leave a film on the skin! Top Misc. First Cleanse: Dr Dennis Gross - Hyaluronic Marine Makeup Removing Meltaway Cleanser (📍) This is a new find from me, but none the less, it’s amazing. This cleanser is very unique, because it’s one that you don’t have to rinse... let me explain. So this as a milky cleanser that melts away face and eye makeup or SPF, but can we wiped away with a face cloth, like a Makeup Eraser. I honestly didn’t think that this would work, but I’m actually very surprised by this. I was sent this product by the DDG team and am featured in a video on the @ddgcanadateam instagram using this cleanser, go check it out to learn more! And now with the second cleanses. New Favourite: skinfix - Barrier+ Foaming Oil Cleanser This was actually more of a new find because I began using this in September. At first, I was confused because of the “foaming oil cleanser” title. I went to use this as my first cleanse one night and it went horribly. Now that I know that this is a second cleanse, I use it almost every night. This and my FOREO - LUNA fofo (📍) pair amazing together. OG Favourite: comfort zone - comfort zone Essential Cleansing Milk I got a facial done around May, and the aesthetician used this product, I instantly fell in love. This does have a smell to it, but it’s so lovely. This is gentle and hydrating so I don’t have to worry about my skin being dry, red and irritated. Love this stuff!
All the cleansers I have emptied in 2020!! Im still trying all different cleansers but one item I will definitely repurchase: FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm I feel all other ones are replaceable except for this one!
I tried the skinfood Black Sugar Splash Mask over the last few days and my first impressions were good! If you've tried a splash mask before you'll know that it's kind of a concentrated toner that you mix with water to splash over your face. I don't like to be too fussy with my skincare so generally splash masks aren't my cup of tea because of the mixing involved, but I loved that this one gave the option of splashing it over a wet face and then rinsing with water. Much easier. I loved how this felt! It was refreshing and I felt like my skin was more moisturized after rinsing, kind of a good pre-toner moisture step. Unlike other splash masks I've tried, this one felt super gentle and didn't sting my eyes. In addition to Skinfood's signature black sugar, this also includes rice ferments and PHA to gently brighten the skin. And it smells like a treat -- a caramelized citrus scent, if that makes any sense haha! I always like using products more if they smell yummy, as long as the fragrance isn't too strong.

@DermAngelosaid it best on his TikTok: eye cream is just regular moisturizer with a bigger markup. That being said, this product from It cosmetics could be a good moisturizer for the under eye area. Beyond that, it had no effect for me. Some of the claims it has: “ A hydrating under-eye cream designed to reduce the appearance of dark circles, lines, and wrinkles and improve the look of eye bags.” Sis, no. It doesn’t help with bags, dark circles, etc. It didn’t brighten the skin as it promises on its label. It also claims to be “quick absorbing;” it does nothing of the sort. I even doubled it with my DIEUX - Forever Eye Maskand nearly all the product was still on my skin after 15min. One plus: It’s free of sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, and phthalates. Pass on this one. Especially with the $48 price tag 😬 it Cosmetics - Bye Bye Under Eye Brightening Eye Cream

UPDATE: I Quit Differin
This is a long overdue skincare update but I have quit Differin because it started to strip my skin barrier, and I kept breaking out even after applying the gel. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel -I’m about to run out of this cleanser and I’m thinking about replacing it with a more moisturizing cleanser from the same brand. This cleanser is excellent but I wish it was a bit more effective PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator -This has been a little too gentle on my skin so I wasn’t able to experience a huge difference after using this product The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA -This serum is gentle on my skin and I have noticed an improvement in my skin’s tone VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream -I came back to this moisturizer to give it a second chance and I’ve come to the conclusion that it is better for people with very oily skin and I have combination skin PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ -This product is a chef’s kiss. It is gentle, hydrating, and very effective at protecting your skin from the sun I am still breaking out but I’m not sure which route to take. I’ve been exfoliating quite a lot and I’m thinking about going the other path and restoring the hell out of my skin. Any recommendations to restore my skin’s barrier and to increase collagen as well as clearing out my pimples and acne scars would be much appreciated!
The best sunscreen for dry skin☀️
Y’all… Let me tell you how dry my skin gets. My skin gets so dry that it looks like my skin is actually flaking. I have struggled with dry skin my entire life and I hardly find any products that truly help my skin. I reached out to a friend who gave me a skin care routine and she suggested this sunscreen PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ it is honestly the best! Not only is it scent free but it hydrates my skin without burning it. I have high sensitivity to a lot of products and this is one that doesn’t make my skin irritated or break out. If you struggle with dry skin, try out this sunscreen! Not only does it help with the dryness but also you should always be protecting your face with sunscreen!!!

No Break Out! Here is my anti-acne weapon🥰🥰
It’s approaching autumn as the climate shifts, my skin becomes sensitive, super dry and acnes appear on my jaw. Usually, since my skin isn’t acne-prone, I don’t have much trouble with acnes and pores, so I wouldn’t take much care of anti-acne skincare products. However, it’s still necessary that you have a certain routine when your skin is sensitive and suffer from acnes. Here is my anti-acne weapon. As I said, I do not care a lot about anti-acne products, but this stuff is totally enough to help me get through the “hard acne time”. Here comes the important stuff, ORIGINS - Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion. It’s always the best-seller of Origins and it’s truly worth the hype. It cost $36 for a 6.7 oz. It’s a light and watery lotion with excellent ingredients of reishi, fermented chaga & Coprinus mushrooms. It smells like Chinese medicine and give you a feeling of safety. Reishi is precious and used in Chinese medicine to help promote longevity. Added in this lotion, it helps soothe skin and rapidly reduce the look of redness. The watery formulation helps the lotion absorbed by skin easily and rapidly, you will not feel any thickness and uncomfortableness. When there is specific redness on my skin, which shows the appearance of acnes and pores, I will drop the lotion on cotton pads and put the pads on the redness for 10-15 mins, after which the redness will be soothed and pores be prevented. Apart from this, I will still use it as a toner during the skin sensitive time. Remember, just shake it well as the lotion contains natural ingredients which may settle. Then pour it in hands and lightly press it into clean skin. After that, I will use my DE family to boost in skin hydration. When you’re annoyed with your acnes, I think it might be better to stop doing makeup and let your skin have a rest. Using anti-acne products is not enough, do not forget to put skin hydration at the priority. Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion is the most effective product when I’m troubled with acnes and pores, I’ve used up two bottles. Highly recommended.
Need help to get clear skin for combination skin
Hi Cherie friends, I’ve been going through many posts in this community. They are very helpful. I’m 28 & from past 4 years I’m facing lot of issues with my skin acne , redness, breakouts, dullness, uneven skin tone. I recently started following morning & evening skin care routine since 2 months . I’m new to the skin care regime. Not worth the hype🙁
I grabbed the ordinary moisturizer at ultra beauty for $7. I was happy to know that it was affordable and on shelf’s. After applying this product on for the first time, I was kinda disappointed. The skin absorbs up the product quickly, leaving it dry fast. I noticed after a couple days, my skin started breaking out on my forehead and chin area. The one good thing that I liked about this product was how soft my skin felt afterwards. I also liked the fact that there is no scent to this moisturizer. I would lightly recommend this product to oily skin type, or to someone who is new to skin care. I will not be repurchasing.
1 week update
thanks to all lovely beauties out there to take their time and add a comment on my last post. I was devastated by breakout, i was having from last 2-3 weeks and nothing seems to be working. Well i guess too many exfoliants was making my skin too sensitive so now i am back to basics. I have started what i was doing in the beginning and that seems to be working just fine. I think i was selfish to have a great skin in no time 🥴. If someone is just curious what i am doing right now then lets go to products. AM: The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser sukin - Pore Perfecting Toner Blemish Control it has tree oil which is good for acne prone skin The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios XL Ultra-Light Fluid SPF 50+ as i have sensitive and oily skin this makes my face matte and oil free. I really like this one for oily skin or combination skin PM: The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser sukin - Pore Perfecting Toner Blemish Control The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (only on spots and acne 2-3 times a week) The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA (once a week) The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (once a week) The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque (once a week) The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane tea tree oil only on spots Even if i have listed so many items i feel i have very basic skin care routine as most of the products are being used weekly or only 2-3 times a week. But in the end this routine is working out for me and i am seeing good progress which makes me happy. Again thanks to all who suggested me before ❤️❤️
OLE HENRIKSEN ‘THE CLEAN TRUTH’ FOAMING CLEANSER
Hi everyone! Today I am going to be talking about the Ole Henriksen ‘The Clean Truth’ Foaming Cleanser. I have been using this one for weeks now so I’m ready to share a review on it! This foaming cleanser by Ole Henriksen will cost you $30 – an average price for a high end cleanser. For this you get 7oz of product, which is almost 200ml. The formula is rich in anti-oxidants and contains African red tea extract and Vitamin C; resulting in soft, supple, healthy & bright skin. I have been testing this foaming cleanser for a number of weeks now, and I still feel ever so slightly on the fence. Don’t get me wrong – this is definitely a nice cleanser which is effective at cleaning the skin. I agree with the claim this provides a thick luxurious lather that removes makeup and dirt well, leaving you with a fresh and clean face. My skin is somewhat soft after using this one too. However, I have used cleansers which do a better job in my opinion – I don’t think this foaming cleanser strips the skin, but it doesn’t feel hydrated at all either – it feels slightly dry but not tight like some cleansers can make the skin feel. I think if you have super dry skin you may not like this. I think with continued use this isn’t ideal for my normal to dry skin. I also don’t see much of a brightening affect considering that this is contains vitamin C. The Soap & Glory vitamin C facial wash was more brightening in my opinion and costs less than this. I was disappointed by this as that ingredient is a key reason I chose this cleanser. This doesn’t mean I dislike the cleanser – it does the job well and I can add ‘skin benefit ingredients’ by using my other products such as serums and moisturisers. It cleans my skin and leaves me feeling fresh which is good enough… I just want more for the price! If you have oilier skin than me then you might like this more than me as it does certainly cleanse the skin nicely. I will use this one up, and I am still intrigued by Ole Henriksen, but for cleanser I will be going back to my Liz Earle cleanse & Polish. Have you tried this foaming cleanser? Or anything else by Ole Henriksen? Let me know in the comments below!
Ole Henriksen Truth Foam Cleanser A1?
I had multiple breakouts the past few days and the day before yesterday I got my package for my foam cleanser and decided to use it as soon as possible since I think one of the cleansers I used irritated my face. I usually do a double cleanse with an oil based cleanser then the Ole Henriksen foam cleanser. I swear that this cleanser worked wonders as I slept.. my pimples have surprisingly shrunk and my skin is softer than ever. I woke up feeling so happy knowing my skin actually feels calm and less irritated! Love how gentle it is even the texture speaks volumes for it. I got mine on sale for $24 on Ole site but original price is $30, for a huge bottle is so much worth it than the extra 2-3 products to get rid of a pimples. 🧡 I just found my staple cleanser 🥺

👩🔬My Tretinoin Journey ~ 8 Weeks in
Hi all! I started tretinoin / retin-a about 8 weeks ago for the first time. I got my prescription from Curology specifically seeking tretinoin, which I told my doctor so he would be sure to prescribe it to me! Always tell them if you’re looking for a specific ingredient! 👩🔬What is tretinoin/Retin-A? Tretinoin is a Retinoid; retinoids are derivatives of Vitamin A (retinol, retinaldehyde, retinal, isotretinoin, adapalene are others.) Tretinoin’s intended and approved use is for acne, as it was created for acne treatment, but it is very often prescribed for anti aging and skin texture because through the decades of research, doctors found it was great for reducing wrinkles and large pores and repairing sun damage. Tretinoin increases cell turnover and exfoliates the top layers of our skin Decreases the shedding of dead skin cells into our pores + decreases inflammation It works much more deeply and much more effectively than its non-prescription counterparts, such as regular retinol Although strengths cannot be compared across the board, it has been observed that retinol is roughly 20 times less potent than tretinoin Decades of research confirm tretinoin as the holy grail, “gold-standard” in topical treatments for fighting acne + clogged pores, as well as smoothing out fine lines + wrinkles, reducing pigmentation from damage, and evening the skin texture 🙋♀️Who should use tretinoin? Tretinoin is suitable for most people; the only people who should be wary of it are those who have extremely sensitive skin, rosacea ❌Do not use tretinoin or any retinoids when pregnant or breastfeeding!❌ Dermatologists say that tretinoin is a great option for comedonal acne since it exfoliates + prevents plugging of the pores 💊Using/starting Tretinoin - tips from me + my dermatologist I’d recommend starting with tretinoin in a lotion/cream formula as it tends to be less harsh than the gel due to having soothing ingredients included in the formula. Curology has a cream formula that I absolutely love LOW + SLOW : start with a low dose (ask your doctor and give them your history) + go slowly with use. My derm recommended starting M W F of each week but do it less if you are experiencing too much irritation always follow instructions + advice from your dermatologist. With curology, I am able to send my provider messages and pictures with concerns and requests Simplify your routine! I did cut back to hydrating cleanser(s), hydrating toner or essence, thick moisturizer, my curology formula, + an oil on top to lock it all in. As your skin accustoms you will be able to slowly work those treatment products back in SPF ALWAYS🌞 I started tretinoin at 0.005% and upped to 0.01% after one month and I am seeing smoother skin and smaller pores, with very little purging. Pictures are from ordered from oldest to new except the first which compares starting with 8 weeks. FULL Gentle Hydrating Skincare Routine
This has kind of been the theme of my entire Cherie page since its creation, but I’ve been needing to really hydrate my skin more since the weather’s become colder. Having rosacea means I always need to do extra research on the products I try. So after some experimenting, trying a LOT of new products, and deciding to stick to some old favorites, this is the routine I’ve come up with for myself: AM Routine Cleanser - Inkey Oat Cleansing Balm: A recent switch for the winter. Leaves my skin feeling nourished and hydrated, but doesn’t tackle my acne very effectively. Might switch back to my old cleanser (Cosrx Good Morning Gel) and just use this when my skin is feeling tight/for double cleansing. Toner - FAB Wild Oat Ultra Hydrating Toner: Another recent switch. This toner is so hydrating that I don’t need to use hydrating masks or overnight creams as frequently as I used to and it’s very calming. Serum - Peach & Lily’s Glass Skin Refining Serum: This is definitely worth the hype. My skin has been noticeably smooth since using it. Spot Treatment - TULA Go Away Acne: Uses benzoyl peroxide to work on acne which can interfere with rosacea, so I don’t use this on my cheeks but it works well in other areas. Not a repurchase for me. Eye Cream - Cetaphil Deep Hydration Refreshing Eye Serum: I said recently that eye cream doesn’t work for me, but I’m starting to get wrinkles under my eyes and thought it was important to kick up the hydration and attention. This one is quite gentle and pretty affordable. Moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion: Undefeated! If I need some extra hydration I’ll add a couple drops of Leo Oil and mix on my hand using my ring finger. Sunscreen - EltaMD SPF 46 on days with no makeup or ILIA Serum Skin Tint: Both are mineral sunscreens and unscented with protection in the 40s. PM Routine Cleanser - The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm: ...and I’ll double cleanse with my old Cosrx Good Morning Gel if I wore makeup that day. Toner - FAB Wild Oat Ultra Hydrating Toner Serum - Paula’s Choice CALM 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant or 10% Azelaic Acid Booster: I like to alternate between these two serums. The BHA (salicylic acid) targets pores and redness. The Azelaic Acid Boost contains salicylic acid too, but is more effective at targeting rosacea specifically. Eye Cream - Veriphy 20/20 Eye Cream: Received this as a gift and I actually really like it! Contains ingredients like peptides, niacinamide, and cucumber extract. But it’s wildly expensive and I won’t be able to repurchase. Moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion + Astrologiens Leo Oil: At night I always combine these two if I’m not using my Naturium Sleeping Cream (2 pumps + 2 drops). I have individual reviews on a number of these products, so if you’re interested in learning more about something feel free to check those posts out or just ask a question here :) Most of these products are generally rosacea and sensitive skin safe. I have type 1 rosacea for reference.

Review My [AM] Routine!
I have super dry, reactive, eczema-prone skin! I amazingly somehow have large pores and dry skin (I know) and get barrier damage easily. My routine goes: 1. Wash my face with PETER THOMAS ROTH - Water Drench Cloud Cream Cleanser it is my FAVORITE cleanser ever and works SO well for my dry skin AM because it adds moisture to my skin before I even start with my products. Even after like the night before I tend to wake up with dry skin and this is such a huge help. I use a green tea or turmeric konjac sponge with it depending on my concern for the day (green tea when I’m feeling a little more broke out and turmeric when I’m extra dry) and pat my face with a bamboo washcloth. 2. Prep my skin for product with Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Toner this is more an essence than a toner, I probably won’t buy it again because I think there are better products with this function BUT it was not cheap so I’m using it all up before I buy anything else. 3. MY SAVIOR VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum this stuff just really keeps my skin bouncy and hydrated all day long I started with a trial size and bought the full size because I was so obsessed. 4. I don’t like the texture of The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% so I mix it in with my Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Cream and it makes a perfect AM gel cream that keeps my pores in check while moisturizing! Niacinamide has really done wonders for my skin and I use it in both my AM and PM routine because I just love it. 5. I treat my eyes with Big Cloud Fix from Dollar Shave Club’s Eye Savior and omg it’s the best product no one uses! It’s full of niacinamide, caffeine, and just does wonders for my dark eye circles. After that sets I will use Kiehl's - Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado because I get really dry under eyes and want to prevent wrinkles with a lot of moisture. 6. If I’m having trouble with my eczema or used actives the night before and have some sensitivity I will use LA ROCHE-POSAY - Cicaplast Baume B5 for Dry Skin Irritations to help repair my barrier further (the niacinamide helps tremendously with that issue as well). 7. Of course, no AM routine is complete without quality sunscreen! I am OBSESSED with PETER THOMAS ROTH - Max Mineral Naked Broad Spectrum SPF 45 Uva/Uvb Protective Lotion right now because it leave no white cast and is a mineral sunscreen! Due to my reactive skin, chemical sunscreens tend to cause sensitivity and flare my eczema so mineral sunscreens are a must for me. This one is gorgeous and has a skin perfecting tint to it that blends seamlessly with your skin tone (I’m very pale and it does not cause any issues for me). This may seem like a long routine, but it takes only five minutes max and has helped me so much to layer moisturizing and hydrating ingredients!

Today, my post is dedicated to some products that work really well for my skin (combo-acne prone, mature). One is a newbie (but made it to my top), the rest have been tested for months or at least a month. ☺️ . Glyco 10 Overnight Treatment* by skinceuticals I have only incorporated this in my routines this week (4 times) and I am extremely impressed with how well this is formulated. Combines Glycolic acid at a 10% concentration with Phytic acid (great for acne & melasma), Salicylic Acid (awesome for acne & oily skin) and soothing agents. To be honest I was expecting some sort of dryness in the am, but it never happened. I did apply a decent amount and still my skin was soothed in the morning. Will keep you posted, this is only first impressions for this product. . Multi-active Toner* by dermalogica 💖 it appears that my skin prefers western brands when it comes to toners. This is by far my absolute favourite. Extremely hydrating, I can add multiple layers if needed, no stickiness at all, I cannot do sticky at all. I always take this in my bathroom as I like to apply it straight after showering (sometimes I double cleanse in the shower), I feel it keeps my skin extremely balanced. Try this with your fave mist, makes a huge difference. . DEJ Eye Cream by revision I have tried several creams, but I am hugely impressed. Only used it for a month and a week, results seen at week 3. Extremely soothing. I only have dehydration lines, but this really smoothes them out, while providing hydration. Somehow makes my skin so smooth that I don’t feel the need to add any kind of concealer or powder. Notable ingredients: Vitamin C, Amino Acid Copper Complex, Peptides, Goji extract (amazing antioxidant). Purifying Cleansing Gel by alumiermd , I have lots of cleansers I love and enjoying using. However, when it comes to removing makeup and SPF in the same day, this gem draws out impurities like a magnet.
Post Accutane Night Time Skin Care Routine
While on accutane I had a very simple skincare routine to allow the medication to do its thing. I’m 7 months post Accutane, and my face is still pimple free. Yay! My skin care concerns at this time is discoloration/dark spots and minimal scarring on one of my cheeks. In this routine I am using the Fresh Soy cleanser to cleanse. It’s so important to make sure you’re thoroughly cleansing your face so that the remaining products can properly penetrate the skin. I use esthetician Nayamka Roberts-Smith (@LABeautyologist)’s 60 second rule when cleansing. Cleansing your face with your fingers for 60 sec allows the cleanser ingredients to do their job. This method helps to soften the skin & dissolve sebum blockages a lot better. I then follow up with applying a hydrating toner (Laniege Cream Skin toner and moisturizer) to my face with my hands. Then 2-3x a week I go in with the exfoliating serum ( The Ordinary’s Mandelic Acid 10% + HA serum) to minimize texture and uneven skin tone. Mandelic acid is gentle and works great on hyperpigmentation on people with deeper skin tones. To end it all off, I use the Kate Somerville recovery cream. LANEIGE-Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer
my morning skincare routine ✨
so i want to start out by sharing some information about my skin. i have quite sensitive skin that tends to be on the dry side. i feel bad saying this, but my skin is mostly clear thanks to genetics. but, that doesn’t mean i don’t put the work in to keep my skin clear!! i’ve tried out quite a few different products, but these are the ones that i find myself reaching for more often in the morning. cleanser in the morning, i like to use a gentle, hydrating cleanser. lately i’ve been using the Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Cleanser . it’s a nice cleanser, but i wouldn’t say it does much for my skin. more often than not though, i find myself coming back to the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser , which is so gentle and especially good for my dryer days. it always leaves my skin feeling soft once i wash it off. toner for toner, i’ve really been loving the PAULA'S CHOICE - Enriched Calming Toner . it’s nothing special, just a milky toner that does a lovely job of adding extra hydration to my skin. i’ve been trying to cut down on my daily waste, so that means i’ve stopped purchasing cotton rounds. to apply, i just put a few drops into my palms and press it into my skin. serum my go-to has always been the The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 . again, dry skin!! i just really love products that hydrate my skin. i just put a few drops on my fingers and gently pat it in. recently i’m trying out the NATURIUM - Vitamin C Complex Serum. i haven’t used it long enough to see an effect, but i’ll definitely post an update if i notice some results!! moisturizer it’s taken me wayyyy longer than necessary to find a moisturizer that doesn’t give me a reaction. i’ve tried quite a few that left my face bright red and burning, and i also have an issue with texture. i absolutely hate the way that creams feel on my skin. maybe i’m in the minority on this, but i am just not down with thick, rich, moisturizers. i really do prefer ones that are more of a watery gel-type. for the past six months, i’ve been using the CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly , and i really like it!! it’s fragrance-free, which is always a huge plus, and it does a good job of hydrating my skin. i usually apply one to two pumps on my face and neck. sunscreen ah yes, the most important part of the routine. i’m incredibly sensitive to the active ingredients in chemical sunscreens, so i have to make sure i’m using a mineral sunscreen. for the past year or so, i’ve been using the tarte - Guard 30 Vegan Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 30 . it leaves a bit of a white cast if i don’t rub it in enough, but other than that, i like this!! it always adds a bit of glowiness to my skin, which i am always here for!! thank you so much for reading!! 💗

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
