are pore bubbling masks worth it? š§¼šš¬
tiffanylepham
since COVID has started, I know many people are on new (or refining old) skincare journeys and Iāve recently been experiencing some dryness/dehydrating as the winter rolls around, which also aggravates my already oily skin. Iāve worked in the beauty industry for a while and also was formerly an esthetician, so I can get picky with skincare and ingredients.
ā¼ļøfor reference, my skin type is: combo (oily/dehydrated), formerly acneic, hyperpigmentation prone, and sensitive
š¬Iāve used Dr. Jart in the past and love that itās a Korean, science-backed brand so I was stoked to try this Porecting Solution Mask! this mask promises fresh, clear glowing skin that deeply cleanses and purifies pores. the mask contains charcoal and saponine, which creates the bubbling effect you see in the above photo. this product does not contain sulfates, paragons, are phthalates.
šwhen I first took it out of its package, I thought there were *two* masks per package instead of one, but if you read the instructions, thereās actually a āmask filmā on the actual mask itself that youāre supposed to remove, so make sure to do that! the actual mask is thick and full of product while the mask film is thinner and lighter in color. the directions also give you a tip to massage the mask to release the bubbling/foaming effect - I did this mask with my mom at the same time in separate rooms and she totally didnāt read the instructions so her mask didnāt bubble at all, so I would suggest to definitely massage the mask.
š¬I left it on for 20 minutes and it continued to bubble about 5-10 minutes in, then stopped bubbling. you can hear the bubbles pop as the mask sits on your face, which is kinda weird but cool. the mask didnāt slip off AT ALL which is also a huge, even when I put a sweatshirt on over my head. after taking it off, the serum took about another 10 minutes to soak into my skin and my face felt super smooth and my pores looked tighter and more clean. I have a few sebaceous filaments on my nose that I sometimes pick at and as I was rubbing the serum into my skin, I saw that some of the sebaceous filaments on my nose were sloughing off (which is gross, but speaks to how well the product worked)!
overall, I would definitely recommend and use this again! if you have oily skin or otherwise clogged pores, sebaceous filaments, blackheads, etc. I would suggest this for you. even if you have dry/normal skin, this would be a good option since my skin didnāt feel dried out at all afterward, even in my dry spell now, and felt rather hydrated and plump.
five stars! āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø

I Was Not Expecting This!
First šš¾ OF šš¾ Allšš¾
When I came out the bathroom with this mask on my dog was barking and acting brand new!
I was like, wait a minute...hold up now... same chick just new skincare š§š½āāļø
With all that being said this sheet mask was def a new experience for me.
Iāve tried it twice since getting it and itās not like any other mask Iāve had before.
For instance when I first took it out the package it was two black sheet mask stuck together.
I assumed I was supposed to apply them both at the same time because thatās what I ended up doing later to realize one was the film and the other was the mask
(I couldnāt tell the difference at first)
The instructions stated if you want more bubbles keep massaging it into your face.
WELL
As you can see in the second photo I got a little bubble crazy because the sheet was no longer black it turned completely white from me massaging my face through the mask.
I thought after 10-20 minutes the foam would go away.
While I was waiting for the mask to stop doing itās thing I turned to google to figure out if I needed to rinse off the residue once Iām ready to remove the mask.
It turns out you should NOT rinse this off but continue to massage and work it into your skin.
When I finally took the mask off, my face felt like it had just ate a mentos breath mint. I felt a cool tingly feeling all over.
I rubbed the product into my skin and continued the rest of my routine.
The second go round (1st photo) I removed the film and it did not bubble as much.
I was not expecting it to make that big of a difference but it did.
However the one thing that was consistent from both experiences was after removing the mask there is a weird thick and sticky residue but boy does it make my face feel soft the next day!
I also really enjoy the bubbles for some reason.
Anywho this mask is a keeper and now Iām def interested in trying out other Dr.Jart products.

OILY/ACNE SKIN FAVS!!
ā¼ļø If you have oily skin or are prone to breakouts, check out these ingredients that are beneficial to your skin and will not clog your pores.
Hyaluronic Acid ā Although this name has āacidā in it, this ingredient does not exfoliate your skin, but hydrates it. HA is found naturally in the body and referred to as a GAG (Glycosaminoglycan). For the skin, it acts as a humectant making it a magnet. š§ Hyaluronic Acid binds moisture to the skin 1,000 times better than water, leaving your skin plumped and hydrated. This is great for oily skin because it helps maintain a good water-oil balance. You can use this product daily. I recommend SKIN SCRIPT - Ageless Hydrating Serum šš¼
Niacinamide ā AKA Vitamin B3, not to be confused with Niacin. This is a popular ingredient seen in many acne skin care products because of all the great benefits it has to offer. It reduces inflammation, regulates oil production, helps minimize appearance of pores, treats acne, helps reduce pigmentation and protects your barrier form environmental and UV damage. This is a SUPERSTAR ingredient that can be used daily. š
Salicylic Acid ā Salicylic Acid is mainly derived from Willow Bark š³ , but SHOULD NOT be used if you are allergic to ASPIRIN. This is a Beta-Hydroxy Acid that is oil based and goes into your pores for a deep cleanse. Oil attracts oil, so this acid is great for oily skin by unclogging your pores and eliminating whiteheads and blackheads. This acid also exfoliates your skin leaving it brighter by removing dead skin cells and should only be used up 3 times per week and always followed by š§“. I recommend this cleanser for acneic skin SKIN SCRIPT - Raspberry Refining Cleanser
Benzoyl Peroxide ā If you feel a breakout coming on or have an active pustule, put some BP on your skin. This ingredient will dry out your acne, so just use it for spot treating and not over your whole face or you will dry it out. BP is antimicrobial, so it will kill bacteria causing acne. As always, read the instructions on your product to see how long you should keep it on your skin for. This is a great product to apply to your breakouts! SKIN SCRIPT - Blemish Spot Treatment
Ice ā Good olā š§ will help reduce any inflammation and redness caused by acne, so grab a cube from your freezer or fridge door and apply to the affected area.
š Other ingredients to reduce acne that are not mentioned include charcoal, tea tree oil, argan oil, mandelic acid and a few more.
Xoxo,
Blyssey

Hormonal Acne Treatment Carbon Theory
Products I use:
AM: š„
Step 1: Wash face with Carbon Theory. - Charcoal & Tea Tree Oil Break-Out Control Facial Cleansing Bar
- Great for hard pimples/ acne that hurt (canāt go āpopā with a cotton bud).
- If you are sensitive to tea tree I do not recommend.
Step 2: Tone with Carbon Theory. - Facial Purifying Tonic
- This can sting open wounds or burns so be careful.
- Has brightened my complexion.
(Wait 30 mins then apply ā¬ļø)
Step 3: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
- Have not used yet, still making sure I do not have an allergy to the product before I put it on my face!
(Wait 30 mins then apply ā¬ļø)
Step 4: Moisturise with Cetaphil - Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30 Unscented
- I have been using this for years it absorbs well into the skin, and does not flake or go lumpy when your makeup is applied over the top. I love that it has SPF in it, it also doesnāt have a terrible odour.
PM: š¤
Step 1: Either damp face with water & apply sukin - Pink Clay Facial Masque Sensitive 100ml
- This is OK I havenāt seen any drastic improvement in my skin but will keep using this as I like pink clay, and I will mention if I see any improvements while using this.
OR sukin - Pore Refining Facial Scrub Oil Balancing
- I have been using this for a while I like how this feels on the skin, it is not a very harsh scrub. It does help to minimise the pores but not drastically.
OR AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay (leave face dry and apply mask with Apple Cider Vinegar)
- THIS STUFF IS AMAZING this was recommended to me by a makeup artist, and I love it! It does sting and burn on open wounds/cuts, but it is great for pigmentation (which I have lots of issues with) and helps to even out your complexion, it also āpulsatesā and ātinglesā and I know itās doing something good! It does feel a bit uncomfortable with the vinegar at times (makes the eyes run) but it dries out and kills any pimples I have. I recommend using an oil straight after to avoid dehydration as this is a harsh but effective treatment. If left on for too long it can make red marks where the product has been on the face which will eventually go away...š
OR use Carbon Theory. - Charcoal & Tea Tree Oil Breakout Control Facial Exfoliating Scrub on already damp face.
- I do love using this it feels really refreshing, I believe it to be a harsher scrub so I do not use this regularly 1-2 as it can cause break outs if used everyday.
Step 2: Wash face with Carbon Theory. - Charcoal & Tea Tree Oil Break-Out Control Facial Cleansing Bar
Step 3: Tone with Carbon Theory. - Facial Purifying Tonic
(Wait 30 mins then apply ā¬ļø)
Step 5: the Jojoba company - 100% Natural Australian Jojoba Oil
- For white heads I āpopā with cotton bud and apply tea tree

Top products for hormonal acne!
A few weeks ago I made my first post about my top products and I thought I would add them in post with why I love them so much!
THE BODY SHOP - Jumbo Tea Tree Oil
The Body Shopās Tea Tree Oil has been a staple in my routine for a few years. Normally oils I have tried clog me up or just sit on top of my skin drying me out. This was the first that was not only lightweight enough to absorb into my face but under a good moisturizer, made my milia bumps and blackheads disappear. If you do have hormonal acne and have been debating whether you should buy, definitely try it out. Iāll usually pair with their Tea Tree-based face wash and my skin feels extra clean!
bliss - Micro Magic
I only started using this as of late because I received it as my birthday gift from Ulta but all I have to say is WOW. I have a weird skin type that, according to RenĆ©e Rouleau, is type 3 (combination, sensitive skin prone to acne and clogged pores requires careful antibacterial and smoothing BHAs to deliver maximum clearing benefits without leaving the skin feeling tight or irritated) meaning I need to exfoliate more often than the average person. Most exfoliators are quite harsh, and being that my skin is sensitive, I canāt really afford to be making tears in my skin with St Ives and such, but this is a perfect blend!! It not only contains bigger beads that arenāt so aggressive but the cleanser also leaves a moisturized and hydrated feel. 10/10 definitely the best scrub/microdermabrasion I have used!
LUSH - 1000 Millihelens
This I wonāt get too into because as much as I love it, they stopped selling it around Christmas time last year. This product was my miracle mask last year and Iām so sad they donāt make it anymore. Itās main ingredients are witch hazel and green tea so itās made for acne and redness. I believe you can buy it on EBay but itās much more expensive than I would like.
The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
This product is probably the best acne product I have used. It is very lightweight, and also helps with milia bumps, acne, and most importantly redness. I highly recommend for any skin problems and for the low price of $6.50!
Fourth Ray - Matcha Face Milk
This milk is amazing! Super hydrating and smells great.
TONYMOLY - I'm Real Red Wine Mask Sheet
This is the best paper mask I have used. I see a few poor reviews but think it is one of the best for redness.
SCINIC - Dual Rubber Soothing Wrapping Mask
As much as I love the red wine mask THIS IS THE BEST MASK I HAVE EVER USED. Super hydrating and takes 15 minutes to sink into your skin. It may slide off but once you adjust it, youāll wake up the next day with the most hydrated face ever.
CLINIQUE - Limited Edition Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator
MOST HYDRATING MOISTURIZER EVER
LUSH-1000 Millihelens
my newest skincare purchases!
throughout the past few weeks my acne has flared up so because of that I decided to try a couple new products.
first- The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I have only been using this product for about a week and already am in love. For those of you who donāt know, niacinamide is an ingredient that brightens the skin and help balance oil production. I have definitely seen less oil on my face throughout the day and when using this product, itās not like many other products I have tried for pores that immediately dry out my skin, this as well hydrates the skin. I would recommend this to anyone with oily to combo skin but I have seen it has been out of stock everywhere so as an alternative I would try the inkey list niacinamide serum.
second- CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel I had originally tried a sample size of this months ago and loved it. It immediately helped bring out the white head in my pores and I had been waiting for the mini size to come in stock to order it. My product finally came in the mail today and staring at it I am not sure the tiny .5 fl oz bottle was worth 18 dollars. Yes, the product does what itās supposed to do but it does just that and is not very impressive. I glanced at the ingredient list and realized the product does contain two ingredients I am NOT a fan of at all. The FIRST ingredient was denatured alcohol. Denatured alcohol is an ingredient that will strip your skin but can tend to be very stripping to your skin. The fourth ingredient is witch hazel which is very simaler to denatured alcohol and acts like am astringent by drying out your pimples or pores. I rated this product a 3/5 because it does what it is said to do but, also is not worth the price and I donāt like the ingredients other then salycic acid.
third- KINSHIP - Naked Papaya Gentle Enzyme Face Cleanser For a long time I had been using a cleanser that was way two stripping for my skin so I decided to try a more hydrating cleanser. First off the bat, I noticed that it had a super strong papaya scent that was not from fragrance but from natural papaya. An ingredient that stood out to me was aloe to sooth the skin. This is also alcohol free and fragrance free. This product was super soft on the skin and felt nice but I have been using it for three weeks and have not seen any results. It cleans your skin and gets rid of dirt but, it hasnāt helped with my acne and pores at all.
I will give you an update if I see any difference in results in these products but for now this is how I feel. Have you tried any of these? If so what were your thoughts?
CLINIQUE-Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel
Nuria Beauty Rescue Pore-Minimizing Toner
The Nuria Beauty Rescue Pore-Minimizing Toner is a tea tree oil toner designed for oily and combo skin to minimize pores, and target blemishes, blackheads, and whiteheads. It also contains witch hazel to help control oil. As someone with oily, acne prone skin, I gravitate towards tea tree products, so I really wanted to try this toner when I first saw it in stores about 9 months ago. So far, Iāve been loving it!
The toner has a thin, watery consistency, and does not leave my skin feeling sticky, which a lot of other toners do. It has a strong scent of tea tree oil, so if youāre sensitive to that, beware before purchasing. I apply it with a cotton pad, and instantly I feel it invigorate my skin with a good kind of tingling. The tea tree feels like itās cleaning out my pores and really treating any pimples and inflammation I have.
I like that this toner controls my oil during the day, but doesnāt dry me out at all. I can use it morning or night, or even both, because itās very gentle, and plays well with my other skincare products. I find that I wake up with my inflammation reduced after using this toner at night, and during the day time, I feel like it keeps my pores clean underneath all the makeup I wear.
The bottle is huge, and at a really affordable price! I totally think itās worth the price, as it works so well and lasts you such a long time! If you have acne prone skin, I really think you should give this a shot ā 5 star toner for sure!Nuria - Rescue Pore-Minimizing Toner

Why I LOVE Salicylic Acid!
I have combination oily skin that has been breaking out more often lately. My skin concern as of lately has been acne and trying to reduce the marks left behind afterwards. My favorite ingredient to help with acne is salicylic acid because it acts as an exfoliant that removes dead skin cells and reveals smoother skin by breaking the connections between cells and allows the removal of the outermost layer of skin. It has the ability to improve skinās texture by exfoliating both the outer and inner skin layers, which reduces unevenness and encourages skin turnover. This also helps quickly reduce painful blemishes and pimples because it reduces oil, clogged pores and swelling. My favorite product that contains salicylic acid is the Murad - Outsmart Acne Clarifying Treatment ! I have seen a lot of beauty bloggers on Instagram posting about the benefits of salicylic acid, so I was super excited when this product was a free gift from Ulta as part of their Diamond Day/Perk Day. Iāve tried other products with salicylic acid so decided to give this one a try too! I use this product as my PM serum a couple of times (usually 2-3) a week so that I donāt experience the drying side effects that can come with overusing it. Iāve been using it for a couple of months now and have noticed a drastic improvement in the number of breakouts I get and the amount of time they stay for. It is a lightweight gel serum that is soothing so I think itād be harder to get those side effects (especially since the directions say to use it AM and PM, but I like using other serums also, depending on my skin needs). Iāve noticed my skin has recovered from breakouts faster and I havenāt been getting breakouts as often.
