I know a ton of people are searching for a new sunscreen after the PuritoPURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ one has been recalled, and I was lucky enough to test out the BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30
($15.99 USD) recently. as an esthetician, my biggest and #1 recommendation to combat anti-aging is RELIGIOUS use of sunscreen as early as you can start. 🧖‍♀️for reference, my skin type is: combo (oily/dehydrated), formerly acneic, prone to hyperpigmentation, light/medium skintone 🧴FORMULA: as seen in the photo, the Black Girl sunscreen is fairly thick and a little goes a long way. it’s not viscous by any means and is a thicker, creamier formula that goes on like a lotion. 👃🏼SCENT: this sunscreen has a typical sunscreen aroma, which is fairly strong and lingers throughout the day. if you’re sensitive to the smell of sunscreen, I wouldn’t recommend because the scent was strong, especially with a mask on. ⏱WEAR: my skin is naturally oily/dehydrated, so when I first put this on I was a little ~shook~ that it immediately made me so dewy and was scared that it would make me look like a frying pan. it did NOT, however, turn me into a greaseball or get too shiny throughout the day and gave me just enough for a glass skin, moisturized look. I don’t have a deeper complexion, which this sunscreen is known for, so I couldn’t attest to whether it gave me a strong white cast but I do experience a slight white cast with my Australian Gold - Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50
sunscreen which is tinted and a lot thicker, as seen above. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ overall, I would give this sunscreen 5/5 stars! I would definitely purchase it again even though I have oily/dehydrated skin. if you have dry, normal/combo skin, I think this would be AMAZING for you. if you have oily skin, I would test it out a bit if possible, because it may feel a bit heavy on your skin, but is a great option for a hydrating, winter sunscreen.

Wearing Sunscreen is Essential! ☀️✨
And thanks to@cherieBlack Girl Sunscreen is one of my new SPF essentials. The creator of Black Girl Sunscreen created it as a solution for Black women struggling to find sun protection. Also as a way to encourage women of color, to spend more time exploring nature and the great outdoors! Which is great because this sunscreen is water-resistant & works for the face and the body. There’s even a kids version available! The formula is also free of reef-damaging chemicals like oxybenzone and octinoxate, it’s completely free of parabens and fragrances as well. For me and my dark skin, it’s important for me to find a sunscreen that is going to protect my skin, & do it without the dreaded white cast. This sunscreen provides all of that! I use about a nickel size of this, & rub it into my skin. It applies nicely & isn’t ashy, greasy, or sticky. Most importantly, it's completely invisible upon my skin, & leaves it with a perfect glow afterwards! I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Especially to my girls with melanin. You definitely won’t regret it. This is available at Target for $15.99 for a 3 fl oz tube. Thank you Cherie for sending me this to review! ☀️ BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30

No Casper vibes with this SPF!
I received the highly recommended Black Girl Sunscreen moisturizer from @cherieto review. BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 I don’t have much to say about this product except that it’s the bomb! Especially if you have any melanin to your complexion 😉 This SPF leaves no white cast so none of that dreaded Casper look. On top of providing sun protection it’s also super moisturizing enough so that I don’t need to apply additional moisturizer prior. Lastly this stuff does NOT smell like the spf we are used to. As someone with hyperpigmentation and dark spots I cannot skip sunscreen ever! And this helps protect and moisturize my delicate face

Battle of the sunscreens ☀️🧴
Ever since the purito ‘scandal’ I went into a sunscreen shopping spree and tried a few. PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ - I loved this sunscreen, it was moisturizing, didn’t leave my face oily or with a white cast and offered supposedly SPF 50 protection. Some lab results tested it and it came back at around SPF 19 and another test came back at SPF 30ish. I obviously no longer count on this sunscreen as my primary sunscreen but when working from home and far from windows I wear it and try to reapply it, not throwing it away until it’s finished! It’s an affordable physical sunscreen. Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 - this sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen. I learned after I bought it that one of the ingredients is not good for the coral reefs so never buying again. It burns, leaves my face oily and has a strong scent that I don’t like. As a chemical sunscreen it doesn’t leave a white cast. ETUDE - Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Sun Milk SPF 50+ PA+++ - I bought this off of a recommendation for a substitution for the purito one. It’s very light and absorbs easily but it does leave a white cast which lead me to buy the next one. Australian Gold - Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50 - this sunscreen is awesome. I never wear makeup so I was nervous I’d look weird/different with a tinted sunscreen but that’s not the case. The color is to offset the white cast that is hard to not have with a mineral sunscreen. It’s pretty affordable at $10 for 3oz. Though I’ve tried multiple sunscreens I’m not done experimenting and trying new ones, just waiting to use up these four first. I go through sunscreens pretty fast though, with using them everyday and having to reapply once or twice. Let me know what your experience with these sunscreens has been and if you have any recommendations for physical sunscreens that don’t leave a white cast and don’t leave your face oily!

My skincare detox!!
Hey awesome people!! It's been a while since I last posted because I was on a skincare detox (and ridiculously busy). Sensitive vs senstized skin: If your skin feels like it burns with the mildest products (for me, even spf and lactic acid) when it's usually not this sensitive - chances are your skin is getting sensitized. Sensitive skin is something we're born with, sensitization happens due to external factors. It's not necessarily due to just rigorous skincare but also external factors like stress, diet, UV exposure etc. So while skin detox is great, also remember to take care of yourself 💜❤️ What and why? I'm no skincare expert by a long shot. I keep things mostly simple and I believe we can tell what our skin needs. I started serious skincare around January this year (I know, suuuper late but better than never lol). My skin before that was mostly normal with bouts of dryness but no major sensitivity. So I was wondering why after skincare, my skin felt like it was hurting when it should feel better. Answer: I needed to give my skin break once in a while! The products, especially the ones with active ingredients, can sensitize skin - even if it is not already sensitive. So I took a break for about 3 weeks. I don't think you need to break for that long, I suppose 10ish days should be enough. I just got lazy to start again. BUT - I can definitely see a difference. For example, now if I use the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, it tingles less than before! How did I detox? Again, not saying this is the only way. I stripped down to basics. Cleanse, moisturize and spf. That's all. In detail: AM: Cleanse with either DERMA•E - Anti-Wrinkle Cleanser or SOAP & GLORY - Face Soap And Clarity Facial Wash (nothing technically wrong with either cleansers, they're both a bit drying with a bit of fragrance and I'm still on the hunt for The One™) Moisturizer: #Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel SPF: Australian Gold - Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50 PM: Double cleanse (because of spf): BANILA CO - Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original (love this Btw) And then DERMA•E - Anti-Wrinkle Cleanser (soap and glory is too harsh for double cleanse) Moisturize: FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration And that's it! No actives, no exfoliation - just the bare mininum. Info: The selfies are somewhere around week 2 of my detox (not a selfie person so I probably suck at taking selfies but oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️) Hope this helps!! Cheers ✨

The best sunscreen for dry skin☀️
Y’all… Let me tell you how dry my skin gets. My skin gets so dry that it looks like my skin is actually flaking. I have struggled with dry skin my entire life and I hardly find any products that truly help my skin. I reached out to a friend who gave me a skin care routine and she suggested this sunscreen PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ it is honestly the best! Not only is it scent free but it hydrates my skin without burning it. I have high sensitivity to a lot of products and this is one that doesn’t make my skin irritated or break out. If you struggle with dry skin, try out this sunscreen! Not only does it help with the dryness but also you should always be protecting your face with sunscreen!!!

A High-Strength Korean Sunscreen For $12!
A High-Strength Korean Sunscreen For $12!
PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ We all know sunscreen is an essential step in any skincare routine and could be argued as the most important step. This is one of my favorite sunscreens for an unbeatable price. This product is great for sensitive skin because it is unscented and extremely light-weight and it still offers you high-strength protection with a SPF of 50+ PA++++. Centella is also a wonderful ingredient that has been shown to help protect your skin’s barrier as well as calm irritated skin. This sunscreen is a staple for any K-beauty junkie and is something I anticipate buying over and over. I put it on at the end of my morning skincare routine after my moisturizer and apply it throughout the day✌️

Best skincare combo for flawless makeup
Best skincare combo for flawless makeup
As someone who never skips a day of wearing spf, it’s always important for me to find spfs that work well under makeup. Also important that my spf doesn’t pill on my moisturizer. Luckily I found that this duo looks totally seamless under makeup and causes absolutely no pilling! GOOD MOLECULES - Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer So I have had this a bit and never really fell in love with it. It isn’t super moisturizing for my dry skin and found that it was just kind of blah for me. That is until I started using it with the Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 sunscreen. So the moisturizer works as a nice matte-looking base. It doesn’t leave the skin shiny, oily or dewy. It does seems to fill in pores minimally and make my skin look super smooth. The magic happens when you use the supergoop spf on top. The spf is a super dimethicone based spf, and it is totally clear! Like no white cast at all. Looks so smooth on top of the moisturizer and just glides on. The dimethicone helps fill pores even more as well so my skin ends up looking so smooth and ready for makeup application. Definitely recommend this combo for anyone who wears makeup!

Great Korean Sunscreens!!
Great Korean Sunscreens!!
My previous post was all about my favorite sunscreen ever!! This one is about few other Korean beauty sunblocks that I have tried and loved❣️ 1) Missha Essence sun Milk 2)Krave The Beet Sheild 3)Purito Centella Unscented Sunblock 4)Dear Klairs Everyday Sunscreen All the above sunscreens are very light, doesn’t cast a white shade on your face after application and is very great for layering with other skin care products or with makeup. These products are not heavy, not oily and doesn’t clog your pores. I loved how these products did a good job protecting my skin from the sun and at the same time didn’t leave my skin oily . They dry very quickly and gives a light matte finish to your face which works great as a base for the makeup and it holds the makeup in place for a longer time!!

the BEST sunscreen for oily skin 🥰
the BEST sunscreen for oily skin 🥰
okay, so i’ll be honest i was definetely one of those people who never wore sunscreen. I was like ‘who needs sunscreen if you’re just sitting inside all day’ never actually taking into account that there are things in this world called windows... since watching Skincare by Hyram i have since learnt my lesson and started utilising sunscreen, i was always against using it previously as my skin is already oily and i did NOT want to put anything greasy on my already oil slicked face 🥵 I did my research, watched about 100 videos and decided on the dear, klairs soft airy UV essence dear, klairs - Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 PA ++++ and guys, this is a GAME CHANGER for people with oily skin that still want to protect it from UVA/UVB rays. i have not once noticed my skin become oily throughout the day since using this product and it honestly goes on like a dream. it feels like a lightweight moisturiser and sinks into my skin soooo well! if you’re in the market for maybe the best sunscreen ever? look no further than this one! ✨

My Favorite Sunscreen ☀️
My Favorite Sunscreen ☀️
I have combination skin that is sensitive and acne-prone. I’m also someone who doesn’t like anything with a sticky feeling on my face! 🌱This is the Centella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen and it is gorgeous. ✨First of all, it passes the Not Sticky test and doesn’t leave a white cast at all. It’s basically another hydrating moisturizer for your face in the way it applies and interacts with the skin. For this reason, reapplying doesn’t feel gross or heavy and this is one of the few sunscreens I actually enjoy reapplying throughout the day which is so important! ✨This has Hyaluronic Acid in it as well as Centella to enhance the skin barrier which provides protection from ultraviolet rays and any external stressors. It also avoids things like fragrance and essential oils so it is good for sensitive skin. ✨This is $16 for 2 oz which in my opinion is great for what you’re getting. What’s your favorite sunscreen? 🌞

Favorite SPF!
Favorite SPF!
Paula’s Choice Youth Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50: This has quickly become my favorite spf of all time for my combination oily skin. I wear this everyday and forget that I even applied a sunscreen because this is so lightweight. The consistency of this spf is very runny and water like. It blends into the skin quickly and absorbs so fast that there is no need to wait for the shine to settle down. It doesn’t leave a white cast on the skin and does not leave an oily or greasiness behind. Although I love this, I recommend this to those with oily skin, if you have dry skin I highly recommend the Krave Beet Shield, a long time favorite.
