How I maintain a clean lifestyle!
How I maintain a clean lifestyle!
One thing that’s really important to me is to maintain balance in my lifestyle! I’m a big fan of vegging out and watching Netflix all day, but I also love being active and attending workout classes! Similarly, cookies are my absolute favorite food in the world, but I’m also a vegetarian that doesn’t eat any type of junk food except homemade baked goods! Balance is really important to me, as well as enjoying everything in moderation. The photo above is a meal I had in Melbourne, Australia, that included homemade granola, pana cotta, and orange foam! A great example of a balanced yet AMAZING meal!

Hi everyone! Here are my thoughts on clean beauty and skincare! Stay tuned for most posts with my thoughts on specific brands too! Overall, I have mixed emotions about clean beauty and skincare. Though I think it’s a great initiative to have better and more transparent ingredients in what we put on our face, but I think brands sometimes tend to use fearmongering to sell their products as a result. For example, brands that market that people can “pronounce all the ingredients in their products” seem manipulative to me because sometimes products need ingredients that sound “sketchy” to preserve the product or make it actually effective on the skin. However, certain brands are actually great at formulating products that also happen to be clean, and I will continue to support them! More thoughts coming soon!

Oil in a stick! Love!
Oil in a stick! Love!
We Are Wild Skincare Solid Oil: this is the final part of the WAW skincare line, and it’s a moisturizing oil in solid form meant to lock in moisture and deeply soothe. I usually do use a moisturizer before I use this product, but I definitely agree that it’s so hydrating and it sinks in so well! I also always wake up with glowing skin the morning after using this! Some of the ingredients include: sunflower oil, jojoba oil, Candelilla, and shea, which are some of my favorite oils and balms! I also totally use this on my lips and cuticles if I forget to pack lip balm, so it truly is a win-win! Overall, I would completely recommend this trio! They are all TSA friendly, vegan, cruelty-free, and pair so well with each other, in addition to being so gentle and soothing on skin!

Travel friendly cleanser!! Yes!!
Travel friendly cleanser!! Yes!!
We Are Wild Skincare Solid Clean – this is the first of three products I’ll be reviewing from the brand WAW! Let me just start with: this cleanser, along with the matching toner and oil, are in every single travel case that I take with me when I go out of town since I received them! They’re that useful. This product specifically is an oil to microfoam cleanser – you first apply it on dry skin as an oil, rub your face, and then add water to foam up the cleanser! It effectively removes all my makeup and skincare, and eliminates the need for me to carry both an oil cleanser and a foam cleanser when I travel! It’s also TSA friendly, which makes everything so much easier! I will definitely continue to repurchase this cleanser once I run out!

A great, cooling toner!

We Are Wild Skincare Solid Water: this is the second of three products from WAW, and this is their probiotic toner. It also comes in a stick form, and is so so cooling and soothing on my skin! I love to use this after a long day on the beach, and it almost feels like aloe vera on my skin! Personally, my skin also really does well with probiotics, but that would be one thing to be careful about if you have sensitive skin. Apart from the probiotics, this toner is nothing special, but it’s so easy to travel with and doesn’t break me out, so I think it’s definitely a win!

Great for sensitive skin!
Great for sensitive skin!
Rosen Skincare Break-Out Stick: this is another spot treatment that I’ve been trying out, and it features alternative ingredients other than your usual suspects of salicylic acid of benzyl peroxide. It includes apple cider vinegar and zinc, as well as eucalyptus. With these ingredients, I think it would definitely be appropriate for sensitive skin. It has a goopy white texture, and you apply it with the same type of applicator as a lip gloss. It dries down pretty quickly, and it does do a great job of flattening out my pimples within 2 nights! I do think this product is worth the hype, and it’s definitely a more affordable option than some other spot treatments out there!

Great sunscreen, super expensive
Great sunscreen, super expensive
Fre Skincare “Protect me” Defense Facial Moisturizer with SPF 30: This is Fre’s moisturizer, a skincare line created specifically for people who sweat a lot or lead active lifestyles but still want nice skin! This is a great moisturizer/spf that claims to even out skin tone and soothe skin, and I do think it does the latter. It’s a white cream that has a pretty creamy texture that doesn’t leave a white cast at ALL, which I was so surprised by! I actually don’t use this as a moisturizer, but rather just utilize the sunscreen benefits, and it works so well before I go to the gym or after I wash my face in the middle of the day after sweating! Overall, this is the only product from Fre that I would consider repurchasing, although it is $50 which I think is a little excessive.

Weird texture, but effective
Weird texture, but effective
Acure Acne Spot Treatment. (Salicylic acid 1.5%): I received this spot treatment from Acure to test out, and I have mixed feelings about it generally. I think it’s a pretty effective spot treatment given that it has 1.5% salicylic acid, which is a really effective ingredient to reduce the size of big pimples, but it has a really weird texture and the packaging isn’t my favorite. It’s really hard for me to squeeze out the perfect amount of product since it’s a squeeze tube, and I find that it spills over and gets sticky inside the cap. Also, about 10-15 minutes after I apply it, it almost peels/rubs off, which I don’t like either. Overall, if I had dedicated time to apply it and then remove it before I went to bed, I would use it more often, but I don’t think this is a worthwhile spot treatment.
