Wavy Hair FINALLY Curly!
I think I finally perfected my routine for how to make my wavy hair CURLY! I have wavy (in between 2b and 2c) hair that is as dry as the desert. As a result, my hair usually can’t hold a curl well and is a frizzy mess by the end of the day. That is, until I tried this routine last night after my shower—my curls (in the last picture) held up all night and even in the humidity! 😍 1. function of beauty - Custom shampoo + conditioner I started using FOB maybe about 2 years ago after working in and around chlorinated pools full-time. My hair was dry, brittle, frizzy, and just an absolute rat’s nest. Picking my own “hair goals” gave me a super hydrating formula that honestly saved my hair. I don’t work in pools anymore, but I continue to use this formula to combat the drying effects of a medicated shampoo I use that similarly strips my hair. ✨ The biggest change I made in my routine is that I conditioned my hair FIRST. I let the FOB hair mask soak in my hair for a few minutes and then detangled it before moving on to my medicated shampoo, then the FOB shampoo, then finishing with the FOB conditioner. I think this double-condition combated the drying effects of my medicated shampoo better than just using conditioner once at the end. 2. SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk After I detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb and rinse the conditioner out, I take about a quarter size amount of this product and put it through my hair ends to roots. I also try to roughly section my hair to make sure its equally dispersed, and then I detangle one last time with a wide tooth comb. 3. Miss Jessie's - Jelly Soft Curls I just purchased this gel and I LOVE it. I’ve stayed away from gels for a long time because I thought they would weigh down my hair and cause build up on my sensitive scalp, but this was not the case at all. I took a slightly-larger-than-a-quarter sized amount and scrunched this product in wet hair (you should hear a little squish when you scrunch!). I also flipped my hair over before I scrunched to give my hair some volume. 4. Plop your hair! I watched Tik-Toks honestly to learn how to do this 😅 I used a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt, and I let my hair sit for about 45 minutes (would’ve been longer but I had places to be). 5. After I took my hair out of its plop, I parted it where I wanted and used the FOB leave-in treatment to re-scrunch my hair where it fell. Then I just let it air dry while I was out and about! You definitely don’t need to use all of the same products (I love Function of Beauty but it can be pricey, especially compared to drugstore brands), but out of everything, I think the double conditioning, the Miss Jessie’s hair gel and plopping my hair made the biggest impact. Hope this helps anybody with wavy hair to define their curls!
My Bunny & Her Hair 🐰
We call her Bunny. Her name is Heather Olivia. She is almost 5 years old. I was a mother long before she came along. A mother to 3 boys which, at the time of her birth, made me feel unqualified for the job of raising a girl. The youngest girl in my family at the time was 18 years old so I did not have much experience with girls since there were so many males in my family. Over time, this irrational feeling of not measuring up went away and I am now confident in my mothering of a young African American female. There was only one issue I had a problem tackling - her hair! I didn’t know much about doing a girls hair and I couldn’t just take her to a barber like my boys. So, I started out by doing what I did to my hair when I started my natural hair care journey. I even used the same products and she still uses these products to this very day! I searched YouTube videos and learned so much from them. I practiced on her and now I think I’ve got it! Now, she loves when I do her hair and I’m more comfortable doing it. Today I had to do some finger coils on her hair and she absolutely loved it. I even let her pick out her headband! Here is the list of products used during her normal regimen and today: Mane‘n Tail - Deep Moisturizing Shampooand SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Rinse-Out Conditionerwere used for washing her hair. cantu - Shea Butter Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream and SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus, Kids Curling Butter Creamwere used on her hair as leave ins. Hot Six Oil, SheaMoisture - 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, ECOCO - Eco Style Olive Oil GelandMiss Jessie's - Pillow Soft Curlswere used to seal in moisture as well as for styling her amazingly curly 3C/4A hair.

Have you struggled to find the perfect products for your curly hair routine? Well look no further, I have the answer- Miss Jessie’s! Miss Jessie’s has a wide variety of hair products that cater to all natural hair types! Whether you have beach waves to a thicker grade of hair this brand has you covered! The two products in my picture show the end result after using both products in the photo. Both products give you the hold you need while not leaving hair in a hard “crunchy” state. Your hair will feel light and fluffy! The Leave-in Condish is not thick in texture but i wouldn’t say it’s light weight either. I would say it’s the perfect weight for the desired wash and go look you are trying to achieve. The smell is also very nice. It’s a fresh smell that both men and women can use. The Pillow Soft Curls cream is AMAZING! I’m seriously obsessed with this product! It’s a cream product that pairs perfectly with the condition to provide and amazing wash n go look! This cream based product is not thick at all and definitely helps to define your curl pattern! The product has a GREAT smell! Smells like fresh linen and leaves your hair smelling fresh and clean throughout the whole day! So if you ask me what my go to products are for perfectly defined pillow soft bouncy curls, the answer is MISS JESSIES!!!! I hope my review is helpful for you! Disclaimer- my hair type is 3b/3c ish and these products work perfectly on my hair type, however, there are a wide variety of products that this brand offers. If you have a different hair type I’d recommend trying other products from the brand as well until you find the one that works best for your hair because I will say products results do vary from hair type to hair type. *Remember- Patience is key when finding the best hair products! #Cheriecreator #beautywithoutbarriers Miss Jessie's - Pillow Soft Curls Miss Jessie's - Leave In Condish - Lightweight Leave-in Conditioner

Attention all my wavy ladies!! 🌊💓
Inspired by all the curly girl videos on TikTok, I have become determined to perfect my hair routine! I bought this product to try after a leave-in conditioner and before a gel. I ended up hating the gel, but I really like this product! I have 2B hair, and I find this product to help hold the curl while also being lightweight. It also left my hair feeling soft and smells amazing! For $8, I definitely recommend this if you are trying to perfect your curly girl routine.

Attention Curly babes ✨
I have a special product from Briogeo to all my curly and coily babes. I had my eye on this product for a while now. Ever since I tried their Don’t despair, repair mask I searched their curly hair products. And here is the one that caught my attention. What is is: This is a rich and very creamy Style product for curly hair that hydrate, enhance and define your curls. This has amazing ingredients like Shia and flax seed. This product is safe for color treated, keratin and relaxed hair. Most importantly their free of silicones, parabens and sulfates! My experience: The moment I used this and used my defuser after, my hair just looked so hydrated and most importantly super curly! Something important to know is that this is a very thick formula which you won’t need so much product on your hair. I was super surprised how much I fell in love with this! Now I’m dreaming about the other products for curly hair they have. 😍 I recommend to use this with on damp hair. 💸 How much you ask? This product is retailed at their Briogeo website and Sephora for $26. Which is really good considered the amount you get and you really don’t need much of this daily! 5 Best Hacks Saved My Curly Hair💖💖💖
I have curly hair. That is not an easy thing for me. I used a lot of hair products including masks and conditioners, but my hair is still frizzy. I will share several things I have learned through my experience dealing with my hair. I hope this can be helpful if you have curly hair as well. Figure out your curl Porosity Your curl porosity is your hair’s ability to absorb moisture. Curls with low porosity require lightweight products and heat treatments, while curls with high porosity need butters, oils, and proteins to keep them moisturized and healthy. So you need to know your curl porosity before you decide what hair treatment you need. Use a curl-specific detangling brush. Hair is fragile when it is wet. It's so easy to break and tangle. That's why you need a nice brush! I highly recommend you try a detanglish brush especially for your coils. A nice brush actually makes a difference. Apply your conditioner to DRY hair, not wet. Using condition on dry hair helps maximize its potency. If your strands are saturated with water, they can't absorb much hair conditioner. So you should use your conditoner before you step into the shower. Skip the shampoo and co-wash instead. If your curls are really dry, skip the shampoo completely. Wash your hair with only conditioner or those with a co-wash formula. Co-wash your curls once a week or as often as needed to keep your hair moisturized without drying it out. Comb your curls when they’re sopping wet. Comb your hair when you are in the shower! Don't wait till it's dry. You want your curls to clump together and dry in natural pattern. If you comb them when they are dry, it doesn't work that way. I hope this is helpful to you. If you want to know more, let me know.
Amika is such a cool company. Their price point is low, so it’s accessible to everyone. They are paraben, sulfate, gluten, phthalate, mineral oil and petroleum free. I love their shampoos and conditioners. This balm is, well, the bomb. It is heavy enough to calm unruly hair, but isn’t greasy, oily or sticky. It works great as a blow dry lotion, or a finishing cream. I have used it on my wavy hair to air dry on days that I want my curls a bit looser. I would use it on short hairstyles for people who don’t want much hold but need a bit of control so their hair doesn’t flyaway or frizz. I don’t live in a humid climate but this would be great to use in humidity to calm the hair. I know I turn into a poodle whenever I go somewhere humid and this would be perfect to help with that. I also love Amika’s curl cream amika: - Curl Corps Defining Cream and use that if I want my curls to have a little more oomph! Amika you so fine! #cheriecreator
