A Cocktail of Retinol And Peptides For A Plump, More Youthful, Acne-Free Skin
Retinol is such a star ingredient as it slows down the natural aging process of our skin, it brightens dull skin, it’s amazing in treating acne, and it helps in the treatment of hyperpigmentation. No wonder why we’ve been seeing tons of skincare products being formulated with retinol in them. Since retinol is fantastic in helping our cells regenerate to maintain that youthful glow, I thought how amazing would that be if it’s paired with other ingredients that also assist in building collagen and elastin. If you’re not aware, collagen and elastin are two protein types that make our skin plump and hydrated. By the time we hit our mid 30s, our bodies start to slow down the process of developing these. Upon reading through Paula’s Choice website, I learned that peptides aren’t enough if we want to achieve smoother, softer, more even skin texture. So, I paired it with retinol. And as expected, my dry combination skin loves it. The products I use are Cerave skin renewing retinol serum as it’s really gentle to my sensitive skin, followed by this firming sleeping mask from Laneige, which is rich in peptides. The Laneige sleeping mask is a good moisture-locking product to layer in on top of the retinol serum. Try it for yourself! CeraVe - Skin Renewing Retinol Cream Serum

MY SKIN IS SO SMOOTH !!
A dermatologist recommended to use Vitamin C and Retinol when in our 20s, so I started to use CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum I’ve been using it for 6 months. I use it at night because its when I don’t touch my face. One pump is enough for the neck and face. DON’T FORGET YOUR NECK! can be combined with Niacinamide The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% it says RESURFACING, so it’s the for the correction of your skin texture. It’s different from CeraVe - Skin Renewing Retinol Cream Serumwhich is for more mature skin. I will try this one next though. it helps with acne too it’s a smooth texture and a gel-like substance. You don’t need too much retinol. Little goes a long way. YOU CAN USE ON YOUR EYES!! I really recommend this product. It’s not expensive like other prestige products, but it does it’s job. You won’t loose anything if you try it. 😌
Be sure to have an understanding of how retinol works📖
I have quite sensitive skin, especially my neck skin. I've been using Retin-A on my face for a while, but my neck never quite adjusted to it. I saw a great improvement in the neck area after switching to this Anti-Aging Serum. I’ve been using it for a few days (once per day) and still no irritation from the retinol. I'm 21 so my anti-aging product use is from a preventative angle. I was naive about retinol and I started using this 2 times daily as I did with my previous serum. Big mistake! My skin freaked out, had a bumpy texture and dryness. But I did my research and learned that retinol users typically experience an adaptation period. I decreased my use to once every other day before bed and quickly acclimated. The way I apply this is I first wash my face, then I put on moisturizer. I put this retinol product on top of moisturizer (Cerave moisturizing cream). CeraVe - Skin Renewing Retinol Cream SerumA YouTuber suggested this method. She says that the retinol gets to the skin even though it is on top of moisturizer. I have noticed the dark spot that I’ve had for many years is getting faded. I always use this before I moisturize, sometimes I add this product and my moisturizer together. If you want to use it in your daytime skincare routine, you'd better use it with some SPF products. Apply cream serum after cleansing and then finishing off with a moisturizer with SPF for daytime use. Retinol can cause sun sensitivity, so we recommend using AM Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30. The ingredients in this serum (it's more of a lotion) are top-notch and quite gentle. Absorbs quickly without pulling at the skin under and around eyes. It does go on the kind of interesting- it's a light yellow serum that when spread on the skin turns into a white cream- but it does absorb fully into my skin. I am really liking this serum. I have not had any flaking or redness due to the retinol but yet I know it's working because I've noticed changes to the texture of my skin. It keeps my fine lines and wrinkles from being so obvious. I'm glad I didn't give up on it and educated myself about the nature of retinol instead. This product is great and is very reasonably priced. Recommend!

Mixing Vitamin C + Retinol – Yes or No?
One of the most effective combinations of skincare ingredients I can vouch for is Vitamin C + Retinol. Vitamin C is such a power antioxidant in our lives, in both the food we consume or in our skin care. My combination skin, with dry cheeks and a shiny T-zone benefits so much from Vitamin C, especially on days when my skin looks lackslustre and dull. Vitamin C definitely helps to boost my skin radiance and evens out my skin tone. Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A, one of the most useful remedies for signs of aging skin. It is also the top ingredient prescribed by dermatologists to improve the appearance of collagen-depleted skin, boost skin renewal and reduce the signs of aging. As there are contrasting pH levels of retinol and vitamin C, it is believed that both ingredients should not be applied together. However, studies have shown the retinol-vitamin C combination to be effective in reversing both natural aging. My trick is to use them at separately in my day and evening routines. Vitamin C is known to increase the effectiveness of retinol by stabilizing the ingredient. When applied correctly, both can form a barrier that shields the skin from the harmful environmental factors that cause skin damage, such as sun rays and pollution. An easy way for me to incorporate both ingredients in my skincare routine is CLINIQUE - Fresh Pressed Clinical Daily + Overnight Boosters With Pure Vitamin C 10% + A (Retinol). The booster serums come in a set of Pure Vitamin C 10% for day use and Vitamin A (Retinol) for night use. The potent day-and-night serum system definitely helped to brighten and tighten my overall skin tone in a short time. The silky texture of both powerful serums makes it light enough for layering with my day or evening moisturizer, without causing bad breakouts. I highly recommend this product for fellow beauty lovers who are seeking a quick beauty boost on days when your skin needs a strong and powerful recharge. After use, the pores on my skin appear smaller and my skin texture definitely felt improved.

Toner, Serum and Mask for Combo/dry Skin
First of all, my skin type is combo/dry, and there are the face toner, serum and mask that I want to recommend to you if you have the same skin type. Dr. Hauschka - Facial Toner This Facial Toner is more suitable for dry and sensitive skin. It's very mild and I like how it feels on my face . I love its spray nozzle which creates a fine and delicate mist. Overall, it's very suitable for soothing acne-prone skin. Kiehl's - Midnight Recovery Concentrate The price is not cheap, but it's a great product and you only use a little of it every time. This is why I think it's worth its price. Its main function is skin repair. When I wake up the next morning after using it the previous night, my skin feels great and glowy! I think it does a decent job in terms of maintaining skin balance, moisturizing and lightening acne scars. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask I will use it for these two purposes: To hydrate my skin before makeup and for repair after sunlight exposure. I sometimes use this mask to adjust my skin condition before applying makeup. I will use this mask to calm my skin after sun damage. It repairs my skin very well.

Currently loving: the Herbal Recovery Line from jurlique!! Seriously look at how gorgeous the glass bottles look, I'm always handling them so carefully for fear of my clumsy hands dropping them (they're the most luxurious products I own for sure ) But beautiful packaging aside, I'm honestly really surprised these anti-aging products* (mist + serum) have been working so well on my skin!! I usually don't reach that often for anti-aging (as I should lol) but I really feel that they not only have helped keep my skin super soft and smooth, but also minimized my acne somehow too! I miss using them when I rotate them out of my routine (for testing purposes) especially the serum because it's so great at hydrating, soothing and calming my skin. . The Herbal Recovery Signature Serum has a lovely herbal rose/lavender scent that's not overpowering at all, and has this super lightweight but still hydrating property that I absolutely LOVE! I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm obsessed with these type of super fast absorbing serums that are at the same time perfectly hydrating for my acne-prone, combination skin. Similar to my HG Jkosmmune serum, it leaves a protective film that I can feel on the surface, maintaining hydration and preventing moisture loss. Maybe this effective hydration and water/oil balance is what keep my skin from breaking out and healing faster when it does! Features pure and organic Red Clover Flower to "enhance the role of hyaluronic acid." I can also feel a slight tightening effect on the skin whenever I use the serum which I feel it's great for an anti-aging product. . The Herbal Recovery Signature Mist has the same beautiful scent and hydrates the skin while soothing, refreshing, and revitalizing it. The mist is very fine and what I love about it is that it's not too watery like a lot of mists I've tried, it actually moisturizes! Features organic nasturtium to help even skin tone as well as a botanical blend of Japanese cedar bud, Yarrow, Viola Tricolor and Citrus Unishu peel extracts (not sure what all these are but sound lux ) So overall I am really loving both of these but especially the serum!

Minis that made it to full sizes for me!
Did you know in the late 1800s, German pharmacist Albert Boehringer uncovered how to pass-produce lactic acid when he realized it was a byproduct of fermented sugar and starch in sour milk via bacteria? PRODUCTS: 💙Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer is a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer that is rich in antioxidants (formulated with multi-fruit acids, licorice extract, and pea extract). This best-selling moisturizer targets dryness, dark spots, dullness, and uneven texture. •Licorice extract: has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, soothes/hydrates skin, and fades dark spots due to an active ingredient in licorice root called Glabridin. •Pea extract: has anti-aging, anti-elastase, anti-collagenase, and anti-free radical properties. It also moisturizers and firms skin. 💙Invigorating Night Transformation Gel is a lightweight, age-fighting night serum that is formulated with AHAs (including glycolic and lactic acids and microalgae) that smoothen skins texture, evens your skin tone, and reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles. •glycolic acid: exfoliates the outermost layer of the skin, stimulates collagen production, and has antibacterial and antioxidant properties. •lactic acid: kills bacteria, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increases cell turnover, and helps reduce acne. •microalgae: hydrates skin, brightens skins complexion, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. MY THOUGHTS: I purchased these minis a few months ago to test out before buying the full sizes and I’d like to say that both full sized products are currently en route to my house! I was so pleasantly surprised by both products, especially the moisturizer. It is extremely lightweight and makes my skin feel so smooth. I also really enjoyed the gel night mask and had no issues with irritation or breakouts. Both products are super gentle and work well with all skin types. SIDE NOTE: Both products are CLEAN at Sephora 🌱Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer is vegan. 🐰Invigorating Night Transformation Gel is cruelty-free.

One of my favourite serums
I received a sample of the Shiseido ultimune in a gift with purchase, and gave it a try. I was so surprised as to how well it worked for my skin (sensitive, dry combination), I had to purchase the full size! This serum claims to strengthen your skin barrier over time making your skin appear youthful and glowy. My skin concerns prior to using this serum were some hyperpigmentation on some acne scars and dullness. When I started using this serum, I have noticed my face have appeared a lot more even, my skin texture has improved and it just looks super healthy! The texture of this product is a clear lightweight gel! It’s a little bit sticky, but it goes away. There is fragrance in this product - I do tend to stay away from fragranced products due to my sensitive skin, but I had no reaction to it. Just be aware. This product is very pricey, retailing at about $90CAD for 1oz. However, I believe in taking care of your skin and investing in skincare so I believe it is worth the price as it did wonders for my skin. I would recommend you guys to try out a sample first! Before committing to the full size, in case it does not work out on your skin as everyone has different skin types! I would have to give this product 5 stars! Updated Nighttime Skin Care
The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This product has really been a game changer for my skin. I use it once a week to help the dryness and dullness of my skin. It does tingle a bit on my skin, although I leave it on for 5 minutes instead of the recommendation 10 minutes. The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG I’ve never been one to use eye creams because I feel like they are just a glorified moisturizer, doing the same thing a moisturizer would do to the rest of the face. This product has completely change my opinion. It banishes my dark circles and de puffs my eyes. I use this product twice a day. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I’ve always been afraid of any type of acid on my face because my skin can get very dry. Hyaluronic acid was recommended to hydrate my skin and I’m very glad I used this product. It has changed the dryness of my skin. fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer This is the first nighttime moisturizer I’ve used that doesn’t make my face greasy, which is why I will continue to use this product and purchase it over and over again. up&up - Max. Strength Acne Medication I don’t get acne very often on my face so I don’t want to spend a lot on an acne spot treatment. This one is ok, it sometimes takes a couple days to a week to use and if it’s overused in one area it can dry the skin. However for the amount of times I use it this product gets the job done at a price I can afford. In short, I love the brand Fresh and will always use their products. I have fallen in love with The Ordinary and will continue to use their products. I have finally found a combination that works for my dry/combination skin and will use it for as long as it works on my skin.
