Products From The Same Skincare Line Are Meant To Be Used Together
Having lived in France for a year, I have learned to really take care of my skin. French women are all about the skin and wearing natural makeup looks. They’re not much of a fan of foundation and layers of makeup products to hide the skin. I have adopted this skin philosophy while living there, and since their pharmacies are literally skincare heavens, it wasn’t really hard to find something that will help target my specific skin concerns. If you follow my skincare reviews here on Cherie, you’ll know that I have a dry combination skin type that is, at the same time, sensitive too. I wasn’t very good at wearing SPF in the previous years; this is why I now suffer from hyperpigmentation. I’ve learned my lesson so now I wear it every day even if I don’t go out. It’s pretty clear that skincare labels develop a line with multiple products in it to be used together. So it is just logical that these 2 products from La Roche-Posay’s Pigmentclar line work together. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Pigmentclar Serum Visible Dark Spot Reducer
WOW 1 application and I can see visible results!
Took the dive and purchase this pigmentclar serum to reduce the dark spots and uneven skin tone. My skin was really red and skin surface was bumpy. On the first application I felt a lot of tingling feeling around my T zones. Once the serum dried I applied a moisturiser. By morning my skin looked super smooth and soft. Will provide a 1 month photo to see the final results of using this product. But so far I’m impressed!
Eye creams 👀and looking for recommendations
My under eye area has always been a concern for my. Even though I am only 25 I have puffiness and a slightly purple color on my under eye area. This is a mix of genetics ( my parents have notorious eye bags ) and my skin colour ( you can even see some of my veins if you come really close to my face haha). Obviously this problem gets worse if I don’t sleep well so I ended up looking tired almost every day. So far I’ve tried some eye creams but I didn’t notice any change or improvement. Around two years ago I decided to give Pigmentclar Eye cream from La Roche Posay and use it for almost 9 months ( but not every day to be honest ). This products claims to reduce /brighten blue - brown circles, improve circulation and improve the appearance of your under eye area. It has caffeine, ferulic acid, glycerine and a lot of other ingredients. Here are my thoughts: Results: none considerable change, I couldn’t notice a big improvement in the color of my under eye area and it slightly peeled my skin in that area. This was a major problem for me because it made it imposible to wear concealer due to the uneven texture of my skin there. Probably some if its ingredients are suppose to give a gentle exfoliation which I didn’t know at that time, now I know better and read the list of ingredients , search for reviews and ask to an expert before trying something new. If you have a more mature skin, not sensitive in that area I will recommend you this product but maybe start with a couple of times a week to see what you can take. Texture and packing: this is the part that I loved it. The applicator deserves five stars for me because of its metal cold applicator. For me this is the best type of applicators for eye creams because it keeps the product clean and it calms the area. I still keep it in my fridge and use it to calm the puffiness. I don’t use the cream any more but I use the applicator to massage. (I couldn’t tag the aye cream but here is a product of the same line) LA ROCHE-POSAY - Pigmentclar Serum Visible Dark Spot Reducer First impressions on CLINIQUE - All About Eyes Rich Eye Cream: I am trying the Light version , not the rich! I’ve been using this cream only for two weeks so I can’t talk about results yet. I like the texture, it is light but it hydrates at the same time, I can’t feel any smell and it’s gentle for that sensitive area. You can apply concealer after and it looks decent (obviously is not the same as applying a primer ) What I really dislike is the presentation, it comes in a small jar ( 15 ml or 30 ml) which for me is the most inconvenient presentation for skincare products because it can easily contaminate and it takes more tome to apply. But everyone has their preferences. So far I don’t think I will be buying it again when I finish this bottle so I would love to read some recommendations for eye creams or your experience with this ones🍀
Trusted Kiehl’s To Treat My Thirsty, Hyperpigmented skin
Kiehl's - Daily Reviving Concentrate If I can only pick 1 brand of skincare to use my entire life, it would be Kiehl’s. I’ve been a fan for years now since I’ve laid my hands on that blue bottle of midnight recovery serum. I’ve tried a number of their products and my skin just loves it. This Daily Reviving Concentrate has the same consistency as the Midnight Recovery Serum- it’s light, just a tad thicker than water. I use this in the morning to treat my thirsty skin after I double cleanse my face, and after applying toner and essence. I particularly love that it’s hydrating but it doesn’t leave my face oily. I can instantly feel its moisturizing properties but it’s not too much so as to leave my face greasy. It’s a good makeup base as it leaves a bit of a glow to my skin. Sometimes I like putting a teeny weeny drop on the side of my eye - the area where you normally apply highlighter - to highlight the high points of my face. I do that when I don’t have a foundation on, which is literally every day now because of the lockdown. I swear by this product. Kiehl's - Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution I suffer from hyperpigmentation because I liked suntanning until about 4 years ago. Back then, I didn’t know that the sun rays would give me sun spots even if I wear SPF. Fast forward to today, I have learned my lesson and I try to stay out of the sun as much as I could. I love tanning so I just use self tanning products to fake a glow. Due to my sun frolicking days, I developed a bit of sun spots on my cheeks. I combat these by using products with vitamin C or niacinamide. I particularly love this dark spot solution from Kiehl’s as it has a mixture of different acids that help in brightening the pigmentation, plus it’s gentle. I have sensitive skin so it’s really easy for me to feel a slight tingling sensation when I use products with acids or vitamin C but this product is so gentle that I didn’t feel anything the first time I applied it. I have seen some improvements on the uneven texture of my face. The pigmentation on my cheeks have since lightened a bit. I also love the smell of this serum. It feels like I’m in a spa whenever I put it on my face. Definitely a must try if you’re looking for something gentle to treat your hyperpigmentation.

Niacinamide For Treating Redness And Spider Veins
Ingredient: Niacinamide Product: BIOLOGIQUE RECHERCHE - Serum Erythros I’m obsessed with Biologique Recherche! Their products literally changed my skin! I have a pretty complicated skin type- it’s dry combination, sensitive, I suffer from psoriasis flare-ups from time to time when I’m stressed out or when I eat a lot of unhealthy food, I get hormonal pimples sometimes during that time of the month, I have very fine spider veins on my cheeks, and I suffer from slight redness on my cheeks. The last issue, I guess, comes from the fact that I do have sensitive skin. For my specific concern about spider veins and redness, my aesthetician recommended the Serum Erythros from Biologique Recherche. This pricey serum (it costs about $180 for a 30ml bottle) has a watery consistency and has a bit of clear reddish color. It doesn’t smell funky unlike the iconic Lotion P50. It goes on light but a bit sticky when I apply it on my face. Since it’s super light and watery, my skin absorbs it quickly. My aesthetician advised me to apply it only on areas where there’s redness, which are my cheeks, both sides of my nostrils, and a bit on my chin. I have spider veins too on the bottom part of my cheeks so I make sure I apply the serum there too. Its 2nd ingredient on the list is Niacinamide, right after water, meaning it has a considerable amount of this Vitamin B-3 variant in it. This ingredient is known to help with treating fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and even acne. I’ve been using this serum for about 2 weeks now, and I notice that the redness on my cheeks have tamed down. Not only that, my skin’s texture has never been so good all my life. But I guess it’s also because of the other skincare products I use in tandem with this serum, but I think that the potent concentration of niacinamide really helps with my skin texture. I haven’t seen any improvement on my spider veins though but I have faith in it, and I believe it’ll make them disappear or minimize, at least.

Rocking Retinol For My Huge Pores And Uneven Skin
Ingredient: Retinol Product: PETER THOMAS ROTH - Retinol Fusion PM Night Serum I discovered this product while looking for retinol reviews on YouTube. I came across two YouTubers who were both raving about Peter Thomas Roth Retinol night serum. Retinol promises to help the renewal of your skin’s upper surface to reveal a younger, healthier skin layer. It also helps in shrinking huge pores, tighten it, and even out skin tone. Sounds too good, right? I checked this serum online and I was lucky to see that it’s 50% off so I didn’t think twice, and immediately purchased it. This product is light, clear, almost like water. It feels like light oil on my face when I apply it. On nights when I use it, I start off with my usual double cleanse routine, then I wait for an hour for my face to be completely dry before I apply this on. It’s integral that your face is 100% dry as retinol apparently reacts with water so make sure that when you use retinol products, you wait long enough for your face to be totally dry. I started using this about 2 weeks ago, and I use it very sparingly as I also use Biologique Recherche Lotion P50T. They’re both acid-based so I try to be super careful so as not to introduce too much acid on my face. I’ve seen a massive difference in my skin’s texture but I notice that when I use this, I get a small pimple the next morning. Maybe it’s the reaction of my skin to this product and the Lotion P50T. I haven’t noticed any difference in the size of my pores but my skin feels amazingly soft and smooth. Love this and will continue using it.
PETER THOMAS ROTH-Retinol Fusion PM Night Serum
The ideal day routine vichy. idealia has the perfect formula for everyone- a dry skin moisturizer, combo, normal skin and even combo-oily. Their serum is by far my favourite day serum to use, since it has a light, watery texture that absorbs perfectly, and has my favourite active ingredients- antioxidants. The antioxidants in this line is a fermented black tea and blueberry polyphenols- known antioxidant compounds that have been found to reduce free radical damage 😍 My biggest thing, even before pregnancy, and now more-so in pregnancy, is to incorporate antioxidants in daily skincare to protect from free-radical damage, especially since formation of spots, or melasma, becomes more common during pregnancy, so a combination of antioxidants and sunscreen is key 🔑 I love getting these actives in a serum, since serums get into the deeper layers of the epidermis better than a moisturizer does, but with Ideal, you can get the actives in both the serum and the moisturizer!
🌚Skin Concern: Dark Spots🌚
I have combination skin. My t-zone is in the range of normal to oily skin and I have dry skin on my cheeks. I also have some freckles/dark spots across my cheeks and my nose bridge. If I must point out something I absolutely hate 😩about my skin out of all these complications is that its super prone to getting dark spots. Even if I apply sunscreen everyday, dark spots still pop up out of no where! 😤I have tried so many different products for dark spot reduction but a lot of them don't work. One product that I tried and works is theNeutrogena - Rapid Tone Repair Dark Spot Corrector . The product claims to repair skin tone and correct dark spots. The texture and consistency is smooth and creamy. The packaging is a pump tube and is easy to use. However, after it reached the end, I can still feel that there is product inside so I cut it ✂️ open and sure enough there was still a lot of product inside😅. So the packaging is great in the beginning but not great after the product is almost gone. After finishing up the product within a span of around 4 months I feel like it did help 🤩! I still had some spots but there was visibly less. The product among was easy to control when pumping it out. It was easy to smooth out as well and a little goes a long way. This is a good product and I like how it actually showed results❤️. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the packaging since it didn’t allow all the product to be pumped out and I had to cut it in order for all the product to be used up. I recommend this product to people who have dark spots and would like to lessen it. I would recommended this product to any skin type since this product caused no irritation to my sensitive skin and caused no breakouts which is a huge plus! ✅ Overall, It is slightly expensive 💰💰for how little it gives you. The product was about $18 for 1 fl oz so I feel like it is only worth it if you really want to lessen of your dark spots. I will for sure repurchase it this year since I saw results on my skin.

Black-owned brand: Shani Darden
I will be sharing reviews coming up that feature Black-owned brands! The first is the Texture Reform Treatment from Shani Darden. I have normal/dry/combo skin with rosacea. I’m also sensitive and acne prone! SHANI DARDEN SKIN CARE - Texture Reform Gentle Resurfacing Serum Claims: — improve appearance of fine lines, wrinkles — smooth skin — brighten skin Key ingredients: — retinyl palmitate (mild retinoid that supports cell turnover and reduce dark spots, acne) — lactic acid 7% (exfoliates) — aloe vera (soothes) My thoughts: — This is their texture reform treatment, which runs $88 (you can get it online or at Sephora, but you know how I feel about Sephora lol). — It’s great for my sensitive skin, and I use it once a week in my pm routine! You’re supposed to be able to up the usage to 2x a week, but I’m not there yet. — It’s super gentle and doesn’t tingle, or irritate my skin or rosacea. It doesn’t smell great, but most retinol products don’t because, well, it’s not a body cream you know. — This is mostly marketed for fine lines and wrinkles, but I’ve found it’s helped me with my texture and breakouts! — It’s not an immediate glow kind of thing, but something that helps my skin over time. I’m looking forward to seeing more improvement in the future, but dang that price tag gets me. — I really recommend using a heavy moisturizer after this if you have normal or dry skin, as this does tend to make my skin drier than normal.
