I spend a little way too much on skincare and makeup.
You Don’t Think You Need Essence Until You Come Across This!
If you’re a skincare addict like me, you know as well as I do that glycolic acid is such a power ingredient when it comes to minimizing fine lines, evening out the skin tone, treating huge pores, and sloughing off dead skin cells. So, when I came across this essence, I knew I had to try it out. CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Brightening Glycolic Essence I wasn’t a fan of essences, after my first ever purchase a few years ago (that was the iconic SK-II Pitera Essence). Unfortunately, that expensive essence didn’t really do anything on my skin. My faith for essences has been revived when I saw this virtually sitting on Sephora while I was browsing. Since I loved the brand’s hydration serum from its Vinosource range, I thought this essence will do wonders on my skin the way its serum has done. Turns out, I was right! Caudalie Vinoperfect Brightening Glycolic Essence attributes its powerhouse brightening and smoothing features to glycolic acid, white peony, and Caudalie’s signature organic grape water. Glycolic essence is an exfoliant; it removes dead skin cells and gently sloughs off dry skin that’s lurking on top of our faces. It’s an effective ingredient for revealing a newer, fresher layer of skin, rendering us a more youthful look. It also assists in collagen production, which therefore helps in minimizing fine lines and wrinkles and maintaining skin’s youthful glow and elasticity. White peony unclogs and tightens huge pores, making our skin look younger and tighter. It’s a natural anti-inflammatory agent, which aids in treating skin inflammation and treats redness, rashes, and skin scarring. It’s Mother Earth’s natural brightening ingredient, eventually leading to fading of scars. The brand’s signature organic grape is a wonderful moisture-sealing and calming agent. This essence felt hydrating on my skin, and I felt like it allows the rest of my skincare product to be absorbed by my skin easier, making them work twice as hard to give me the best skin ever. The combination of glycolic acid, white peony, and organic grape water is the perfect hybrid of ‘chemical’ exfoliation and sealing of hydration after, rendering us youthful-looking, glowing, and evened out skin tone. I can’t recommend this enough! Another good news is that it’s vegan and is made from 100% natural ingredients! Winner!

The Perfect Hydrating Yet Light Serum For Summer!
Caudalie doesn’t just manufacture beautiful and effective clean beauty products, but it’s such a beautiful brand too. Founded in Bordeaux in France (hence the abundance of vino, or the French word for ‘wine’, in their product selections), Caudalie makes use of natural ingredients, and it’s the largest beauty company contributor for our planet.CAUDALIE - Vinosource SOS Deep Hydration Serum Their Vinosource line is fueled with grape, which is nature’s antioxidant that helps fight free radicals, fight the first signs of aging, and is a natural brightening agent. No wonder why this serum is known for its soothing, calming, and moisturizing power. It’s also packed with hyaluronic acid, a substance that our body produces, and is one of the most potent hydrating properties in skincare product ingredients. Caudalie Vinosource SOS Deep Hydration Serum credits its effective hydrating and skin nourishing formula to organic grape water, hyaluronic acid, and olive squalene. Grape water offers deep hydration and calming properties to our skin. It locks in moisture in the skin by holding water, quenching our skin’s thirst for rehydration. Organic grape water is also fantastic for calming skin irritation such as redness and rosacea. Hyaluronic acid is very important in treating the early signs of skin aging. Our skin needs HA in order to repair cells, keep our skin plump and youthful, and maintain its elasticity. Our body naturally produces this type of protein, but its production decreases over time as we age hence, our skin can benefit from outside resources to pump in HA such as skin care topical products or microneedling treatments. Olive squalene deeply moisturizes the skin without leaving an oily film on top. It’s perfect for boosting skin moisture but keeping greasiness at bay. My dry combination skin loves the HA in it as it serves as a moisturizing treat to my skin without making my face look like I slathered way too many layers of products on it. I used it with my usual cleanser, toner, eye cream, and sunscreen during daytime. At night, I like layering it with another cream moisturizer to really lock in the hydrating properties in my skin. It’s an ideal serum especially for summer cause it’s so nourishing but it goes light to the skin. So even if the sun is scorching hot outside, you won’t end up looking like you can fry an egg on your face. Super recommend this!

This Beauty Elixir Is So Much More Than Just A Face Spritz
My relationship with Caudalie began when I moved to France and lived there for a year. It is one of the beauty brands that one can find in French pharmacies. I love that it’s a clean beauty brand, and its products are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and other chemicals that might interfere with our hormones, which can lead to various illnesses. It’s a company that truly cares for the environment and for our health by using only natural ingredients. Caudalie also gives a part of its revenue to plant trees. Its cult product, the CAUDALIE - CAUDALIE Beauty Elixir, has been in my radar for quite some time now as it has always been featured in a number of makeup artists or beauty editors’ makeup bags. I was using it for a number of purposes - as a last step to seal in my makeup after I put on my face; as a facial spritz to keep me feeling fresh all day especially during summer, and to keep oiliness at bay; and as the second step in my skincare routine after the usual cleanse. I love that it has multiple uses, and that it’s so light on the face - perfect for my dry combination skin. Deemed as ‘the secret of makeup artists’, Caudalie Beauty Elixir is an amazing product to set your makeup in place. It seals in the products on your face, and makes your eyeliner and lipstick stay longer. It has 100% natural ingredients, contains essential oils, plus, it’s vegan and cruelty-free. Its potent yet gentle features can be attributed to the mist’s power ingredients - green grape, peppermint essential oil, rose essential oil, rosemary essential oil, musk rose oil, and myrrhe oil. Green grape is packed with vitamin C and is therefore an effective antioxidant, while peppermint essential oil is a powerful natural antibacterial ingredient, therefore it’s good for keeping zits and acne at bay. Rose essential oil is known for its powerful anti-aging and hydrating properties. It also helps in clearing out the skin to get rid of zits and acne. Rosemary essential oil fights free radicals and hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage. It’s nature’s antiseptic, and is a superior disinfectant for treating scalp problems and graying hair. Musk rose oil improves skin elasticity and smoothing wrinkles. It’s a fairly popular ingredient for treating the early signs of skin aging. Myrrhe oil is a natural remedy to combat skin infections and conditions like ringworm and athlete’s foot. It’s a great ingredient for healing wounds and fighting infection-causing microbes. Overall, it’s not just a face mist. With all these natural goodness inside, it makes for a great toner and skincare product to fight signs of premature aging. I loved my bottle to bits! I would purchase again and again!

Propylene Glycol Has Been Saving My Dry Combo Skin For Years
Propylene glycol (or PEG), along with other forms of glycol like butylene glycol, ethylene glycol, and glycerol, is commonly used in skincare and makeup products. It’s a humectant, emollient, and preservative that maintains beauty products’ freshness and keeps bacteria at bay, thus lengthening the products’ shelf life. It’s commonly seen in creams, serums, even hair products like shampoo and conditioner. This is advisable for individuals who have dry or dry combination skin types (like myself) who are looking for extra moisture and hydration. It’s a moisture-locking agent which attracts water and traps it in the skin, keeping our skin well hydrated. It also smoothes out the skin while maintaining a light non-sticky feeling. Since it draws water onto the skin, it’s a major lifesaver if you’re starting to develop fine lines. We all know that there’s no room for fine lines and wrinkles in a well-hydrated skin. Another plus factor of PEG is that it helps the absorption of other skincare ingredients, making them more effective. I learned about this ingredient through various resources online. I’ve always been curious about skincare ingredients, and this is one of the items that is almost always present in a number of my skincare products so I looked it up on EWG and other online sites. Since a lot of my skincare products have PEG in them, and I don’t experience any irritation or breakout or anything negative on my skin, I think this works well for me. Considering the fact that it helps in hydration, I believe this ingredient has been helping me maintain a well-moisturized skin. Some products worth noting are Physiogel calming relief AI cream which helps with my psoriasis flare-ups, and La Roche-Posay Uvidea melt in cream, which is one of my fave light sunscreens.
Hyaluronic Acid + Tea Tree For A Smooth, Clear Complexion
Hyaluronic acid comes in different names, and one of them is sodium hyaluronate. HA is a substance that’s naturally present in our body. But, just like other substances that our body naturally produces, its regeneration slows down as we age. Some experts call hyaluronic acid the ‘fountain of youth’ as it’s a potent anti-aging substance that keeps the skin plump and youthful. It also minimizes fine lines. Cosmetic doctors use it as a main ingredient in fillers to treat their patient’s wrinkles; others use it to achieve fuller, more luscious lips. I’ve been a fan of HA since I find it helpful for my dry combination skin. Tea tree is known for its antimicrobial properties hence, it’s very popular among individuals with oily, acne-prone skin types. But, it’s not just good for those who suffer from acne. It does wonders to people who suffer from redness and irritation, just like me. I like using products with this ingredient to help with the redness on my cheeks area, and to treat my occasional zit that usually sprouts during that time of the month. Tea tree has anti-inflammatory properties that help in treating skin inflammation, redness, irritation that I usually get as I have sensitive skin. This Shiseido creamy cleanser is perfect as it doesn’t strip away my skin’s natural oils because it has HA in it. I like following it with this really affordable toner from the clean beauty brand, Human Nature. Together, they do wonders in keeping the moisture locked in my dry combination face, and treating the redness in my cheeks too. Definitely recommend this combo!
A Cocktail of Retinol And Peptides For A Plump, More Youthful, Acne-Free Skin
Retinol is such a star ingredient as it slows down the natural aging process of our skin, it brightens dull skin, it’s amazing in treating acne, and it helps in the treatment of hyperpigmentation. No wonder why we’ve been seeing tons of skincare products being formulated with retinol in them. Since retinol is fantastic in helping our cells regenerate to maintain that youthful glow, I thought how amazing would that be if it’s paired with other ingredients that also assist in building collagen and elastin. If you’re not aware, collagen and elastin are two protein types that make our skin plump and hydrated. By the time we hit our mid 30s, our bodies start to slow down the process of developing these. Upon reading through Paula’s Choice website, I learned that peptides aren’t enough if we want to achieve smoother, softer, more even skin texture. So, I paired it with retinol. And as expected, my dry combination skin loves it. The products I use are Cerave skin renewing retinol serum as it’s really gentle to my sensitive skin, followed by this firming sleeping mask from Laneige, which is rich in peptides. The Laneige sleeping mask is a good moisture-locking product to layer in on top of the retinol serum. Try it for yourself!
