Is the Glossier lip balm worth the hype???
I know i know ! You might be wondering oh man, another review about people raving about this product & brand. Hey ! I have been there & finally surrendered to buy this product to find about whats with all the hype about this product as well as the brand. As a person who can never have enough lip balms , these are my first impressions ✨
This balm here contains beewax , castor oil & lanolin. & they are supposed to soothe & moisture dry & chapped lips.
Balm has a very thick creamy texture, which can need a teeny tiny bit of more effort to slide over the lips. I noticed after the application it takes quite some time for this to get absorbed. 👍
There is no applicator, so we have to squeeze and use our finger tips to apply ( i know not having an applicator can be hygienic and all, since I’m not used to it, feels like a task. May be i will get used to it ) 👎🏻
This comes in 7 different varieties . I picked the berry one . They also give a sheer tint. But my lips are all dark so i don’t feel any difference 👎🏻 tint or no tint its all the same
Also unlike other lip balms, less is more for this one & goes a long way ( justifies why they charge whooping 12$ ) 👍All in all i feel these are good but I don’t think these are the only once that can get the job done. My bodyshop hemp lip balm just does the same job for a cheaper price. But i guess with there OG packaging & pretty for instagram is also the reason why there is a lot of hype for this brand & the product as well ! Hope this helps

My recent lip balm empties! They are great!
I always carry around lip balms in my bag, because who doesn’t like a smooth lip lol? Here are some lip balms that I use on daily basis. They all make my lip super nice and soft. Glossier. - Balm Dotcom Scent? yes, rose scent, and there are more scents online for you to choose. I have mix feelings about this product. This product is easy to use, versatile, and super cute too, BUT, it’s basically thick Vaseline with nice scent. I still love it for what it is. I sometimes even use it to moisturize cuticle and hands in winter. I would recommend it if you don’t mind spending $16 on a good versatile lip product. NUXE - Reve de Miel Stick Levres Hydratant Lip Moisturizing Stick 4g Scent ? yes, smells like citrus, and honey? I would say this product does not immediately melt into your lip. You have to apply 2 layers to moisturize your lip. I guess this is great, because my old lip balm sometimes melt in hot temperature, therefore it’s super travel-friendly. Nuxe Lip balm is light weight, and not sticky at all. I will def repurchase it soon.
Battle of the balms
Who else hates having dry lips?? I used to own a bunch of lip balms and found they all actually made my lips even drier... later found out this was a marketing scam to make you buy more. My dermatologist recommended using Vaseline on my lips and I have never looked back. Vaseline (petroleum jelly) is great at preventing moisture loss from my lips and keeping them plump. I recently started looking for petrolatum-based balms a bit ~fancier~ than my Vaseline and found these two. Kiehl's - Kiehl's Lip Balm Absolutely love this balm. I have the cranberry and it smells/tastes amazing (not sweet, just subtle flavour) and keeps my lips hydrated. Glossier. - Balm Dotcom Bought this because of all the hype and expected to love it more than my Kiehl’s balm but was a little disappointed. While I love the mango scent, the consistency is a bit too thick and is a hard to squeeze out of the tube. They both offer a range of lovely scents and are similarly priced but in my opinion the Kiehl’s balm is the winner!
I’m going to be honest when I first got this balm it was nothing like I expected. I actually didn’t like it at first. The sparkles were way too much for me. But my new favorite way to wear it is over top of a lip color to make is sparkly but also moisturizing! All of their balms smell so good and are so moisturizing. I keep one with me at all times!Glossier. - Balm Dotcom
First Impressions - Glossier Balm Dotcom
I recently purchased the Glossier Mango Balm Dotcom, receiving it in a Lip Trio (you select one Gen G, one balm dotcom, and one gloss). If it wasn’t already included in the lip trio, I can’t say I would have purchased it on its own ($12 for glorified Vaseline??), but nonetheless I was still very excited to try it out. You definitely won’t forget this is mango, it has a very strong, but yummy mango scent which I instantly loved. It has a slight peachy tint, but it is barely noticeable (if at all) when applied, which doesn’t make a huge difference to me either way. When it comes to formula, it is so smooth on the lips, and gives them a soft shiny look. This is petroleum based, so it won’t moisturize your lips as much as it will just prevent moisture from escaping, which is something to keep in mind. I applied it before I went to bed, and when I woke up my lips still felt soft which was a great surprise. I tried it on my cuticles briefly, and it felt fine. I probably would mainly use it for my lips, as I already have the Burt’s Bees Lemon Cuticle Butter that I use for that purpose (post available on my page). The one annoyance I felt was toward the packaging. I’m not sure if this is just me, but I felt like I had to squeeze quite forcefully in order to dispense the product, which makes me fear the tube could burst from the end if I’m not careful. I’m not sure if this is just because it’s a new tube, but it’s something I’ll be monitoring. Overall, this is a fun product, definitely not something you need, but nice to have if you really want it! Best Treatment for Constantly Chapped Lips
I’m one of those people with lipbalms scattered all over my home. They breed in the bottoms of my bags and pop-up in jacket pockets from last summer. I live in a super dry climate and I have a bad habit of licking my lips, causing them to live in a constant state of chapped. Some winters I’d slather on lipblam 10x a day and felt like I couldn’t get the dryness to go away. Lano - The Original 101 Ointment Multipurpose Superbalm changed EVERYTHING! I still use lipbalms in the morning and throughout the day (especially ones with SPF) but this is a must for night time. Any time my lips look a little chapped, I put a small bit of this on my lips before bed and when I wake up my lips are totally transformed, soft, and supple. I also love how this ointment can be used for other things. I use it on my cuticles and on cracked dry bits like elbows. Another thing I love about this is that its a tube and not a stick that I’m constantly putting directly on my mouth, which makes me feel like it’s keeping it more clean. This ointment is a little pricey but honestly it works so well and a little bit goes a really long away. I will definitely be getting this again when it eventually runs out.

Smells better than it works
I cannot tell you enough how good this smells. It smells like a fresh mango on a summery day with no cares in the world (ok, i might be imagining the last one.) But, considering I got this in gloomy January, it was the perfect reprieve from the freezing temperatures. That being said, it does actually smell better than it works. Not that this doesn’t work but the reason I gave it 4 stars is that it feels like it sits on top of your lips for a good five minutes before it starts to penetrate into the skin. And in my experience, it dries out pretty quickly (30-45 minutes) and then you have to reapply. You use a lot per swipe also and the main reason it’s not gone by now is I lost it at the end of February, finding it in my coat pocket in April. I would recommend this to a friend because it smells glorious and it is relatively effective. Plus, it’s not crazy expensive. Glossier. - Balm Dotcom
