I’m Gonna Say it: Holy Grail Hair Care! ✨

So about a month ago I made a post with a bunch of minis I brought home, and two of them were these two products, and I feel confident to give reviews on these now! A quick background in my hair: My hair is naturally extremely thin and I have 2c/3a curls (a blend of wavy and ringlets) as well as being high porosity (they dry sooo fast like literally one pat with a towel). I’ve been dying my hair for a long time, and because of that, for the last several years I’ve suffered breakage, split and brittle ends, and a lack of bounce in my natural curl. I’ve been growing my hair out for years and stalled on length because the ends just kept breaking off, and there were a lot of times where I would break down in tears because I just wanted long pretty hair. I spent tons of money going through masks and leave ins and oils and nothing helped longer than 24 hours. Enter OUAI - OUAI Leave-In Conditioner
I bought the travel size of this and pictured above is the full size (I only used the travel size like 3 times before I was completely sold on it). After just one use, I finally felt like my hair was shiny and soft, something I hadn’t experienced in years of rotating through products. My friend actually noticed it over facetime the next day with zero prompting! I was so excited I washed my hair a day early the next time so I could use it again. Now, my hair is shinier than ever and it actually feels like my hair is stronger! No more little pieces break off when I brush it and I feel like it’s safe to finally use heat on it again (even though I don’t want to bc my curls look so good!!). I couldn’t be happier with this product, I want to buy like 4 more bottles now so I never run out even though a little goes a long way. My actual holy grail. I would give it 10 stars if I could. The OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray
I got with it is also a fantastic product I bought a full size of quickly too. My biggest beef with “sea salt” sprays has always been the nasty play-doh smell and the residue that feels impossible to wash out of my hair. First and foremost I love the way this spray smells sooooo much, it’s delicious and sexy, very feminine and lovely. The other thing I love is that it uses rice starch instead of salt than can be drying and leave a sticky residue. Although this spray leaves a little texture, it’s definitely tolerable for day 3 or 4 (or 5 or 6 😬) hair and the perfect thing to bring life back to my curls.

best & blah hair products @ Sephora 🌟
BEST & BLAH 👉🏻 Sephora Edition 😌🙌🏼 We all know the holy grail products we can find at Sephora. For me, I flock to the shelves for Ouai, a haircare line quite popular in the IG community 💡Before trying out their line, I was always skeptical of the value in their products. Come on, is this really worth it? I was an avid fan of it's a 10 haircare - Leave-In Conditioner Spray Product , my holy grail for my wavy, thick hair (which, is extremely damaged!) I could always count on that single product after washing my hair to smooth my hair and aid in softening my ends. Eventually, I had to try out Ouai haircare. After bleaching my hair to its absolute end, I knew I needed to find quality products when it came to styling my hair. My hair had always been picky with the products it uses, especially when it came to styling products. Sticky, thick and too drying formulas turn me off. So, when needing to find my “best and blah,” I knew I had to put Ouai in the hot seat. 1. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray This one left my hair tacky, even with a minimal amount of product sprayed on. My waves weren’t much defined as they would be without this product. This one is $12 (small bottle) at Sephora. Worth it? No, not in my opinion. A better alternative is NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Soft Waves Spray . 2. OUAI - OUAI Volume Spray Hmmm.. perhaps my hair is thick enough to have volume already. Nevertheless, I was not a huge fan of this volume spray. I used it before blowing my hair out and all it did for me was add more product onto my hair, no volume. Worth it? No 😭 I tried my best to like this product but I can’t bring myself to pay $26. 3. OUAI - Dry Shampoo Foam A NEW DRY SHAMPOO FAVORITE! I love this formula (mousse-like) and the smell. It leaves a refreshing and cooling feeling on my scalp. Worth it? YES. I’ll definitely be buying this again, worth the $28! 4. gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil This is a great hair oil, don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the packaging, the consistency and the result of my hair after smoothing this into it; HOWEVER, $46 doesn’t sit right with me for a hair oil so is it worth it? Not for me. 5. eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer I enjoyed the smell and lightweight spray of the nozzle, offering a lighter application of the product. But, too much and your hair gets STICKY. Beware of the amount you use. If used right, it’s worth your time. Worth it? $12 for a great heat protectant is worth it to me! 6. gisou - Propolis Infused Polishing Primer Ehhhh, I couldn’t find the value in this for me. I heard a lot of people talk about their hair feeling smoother after styling once using this; however, I personally couldn’t notice a difference. I loved the creamy texture but I can’t purchase it again. Worth it? $34 isn’t worth it for me 😭

Drying and styling hair is a big project…
Hair texture: Thin and soft, hard to be styled! 😭 Drying and styling hair is a big project every morning after shampoo, especially for girls with long hair. One easy tactic that I found was to use wave spray before blow drying every inch of my hair, where drying and styling can both get done in a single procedure and saves so much time in a hustling morning. Wave sprays are easy to use. I simply apply the sprays throughout my hair, mainly in the hair roots, after shower, and blow my hair to dry. For my semi-curly hair, just a simple step of spraying can guarantee the wavy style and volumize my thin hair with hairdryer, and the natural and fluffy hairstyle could last for the entire day. I have been using OUAI wave spray in the last 2 years and like it a lot until I have got my new spray a few months ago. OUAI is an American hair product brand specialized in hair styling and nutrition. And my new spray is from Shiseido, a popular middle-high end skin and hair care brand from Japan. They both are in the same price range – for around $20 per bottle. To be fair, they both work very well in creating fluffy appearance of the hair, but after using the new product for months, I realized that there are obvious differences. In comparison, I found Shiseido works better for my hair type and lasts for longer. It is very apparent that the compositions of the sprays are different – OUAI wave spray is a liquid spray while Shiseido spray is made of powder. The powders made Shiseido spray so much easier to spread through the hair and is non-sticky. And because the powder is designed to resist the moist, the hair can stay fluffy and natural even in the evening, while OUAI spray only last for 5-6 hours in the summer until the fluffy hair falls back down. In conclusion, the powder spray is more suitable for the summer and especially for people who works long hours and still need their hair to look nice and fluffy in the evening, while OUAI wave spray is just enough to meet your basic need in styling. How to Care for Long, Thin and Bleached Hair ☀️
How to Care for Long, Thin and Bleached Hair ☀️
I have very long and thin bleached hair so it gets very dry easily and also can get extra oily at times with regular washing. I wash it in the morning, brush it through and let it air dry after adding in some products below! 1. Add Hydration ✨Bleach dries out hair like no other so adding hydration back into your hair is going to be important. I use a variety of products for this. One thing I like is to use really nourishing shower products like the Olaplex conditioner. These products are gorgeous and make my hair feel better and softer. Their unique technology repairs hair from within. ✨Another product I love is the Gisou hair oil which is good for hydration but also styling if you’re just leaving your hair down for the day. It smells amazing and the honey is great for hair. It tames flyaways, somehow just makes hair look better and hydrated. ✨Hair masks can also be very useful and Olaplex has one too. I also like the Amika hair masks for extra hydration and try to use these at least once a week to repair and hydrate. 2. Detangle ✨One product I love to use right after washing is the leave in conditioner spray by It’s a 10! This has so many uses, hence the name, but I love the smell, nourishing and detangling properties of this the most. The detangler aspect is also useful so I’m not causing unnecessary damage when brushing if I have knots. 3. Take a Hair Supplement ✨After starting my first, I’ve found that my hair definitely grows faster and feels better than before! I use Hush & Hush supplements. They have them for hair, daily vitamins and one that is super amazing for nighttime if you’re struggling with relaxing and sleeping. You can use my name as a code to save money too if you’d like (“chelsea”). This is important because you’re giving your body what it needs and more to care for your hair health and also your body. 4. Use Products with Extra Heat Protection ✨I personally like Amika’s The Wizard because it smells amazing and does the job. Generally, temperatures over 450 F won’t break or damage hair but I avoid lots of heat and styling just because my hair is already damaged and dry, but when I do I always use products with extra protection. Regular hair cuts help too to prevent additional breakage at the bottom! MY HOLY GRAILS FOR COARSE HAIR
MY HOLY GRAILS FOR COARSE HAIR
I still haven’t gotten around to getting my hair cut after lockdown, and as a result my normally straight and smooth hair is feeling pretty coarse, especially the ends. Here are some products that I’ve found help make my hair look and feel much better! Mise En Scene Perfect Repair Hair Serum This oil and silicone-based hair serum comes in a pump bottle that dispenses the perfect amount of serum for my hair. I usually apply 1 to 1 ½ pumps of hair serum, any more than that and it can weigh my hair down. It contains a mix of plant oils including: Argan, Camellia, Coconut, Apricot, Marula, Jojoba, and Olive Oil. My tip for this product is to apply it to slightly damp hair, then blow dry for maximum shine and smoothness. It has a floral smell (which I love) and a single bottle seems to last a really, really long time.I bought mine in Korea in January this year and I’m barely a quarter of the way through it now, so it will last me a while! L’Oreal Elvive/Elseve Extraordinary Oil Conditioner A good conditioner helps smooth coarse hair, too. This one also has a lot of plant oils to condition hair and make it smooth and silky. It also has a floral yet sweet scent that I love—I love nice-smelling hair care, okay?! I apply a pretty generous amount to my lengths and ends of hair (never roots, that’s how you get greasy flat roots). I’ve actually repurchased this many times before and I’ll continue to buy it (until I get bored of the scent, that is…) Both of these are affordable, drugstore picks that I’d happily recommend to anyone that’s looking for great hair care that smooths down coarse hair.

A MUST HAVE HAIR PRODUCT!
A MUST HAVE HAIR PRODUCT!
I absolutely love curling my hair , it’s my go to when I’m styling my hair. Of course day two/three hair is the best but only with dry shampoo and texture spray! I have tried so many different ones and this is definitely my favorite! I always spray dry shampoo and texture spray in 5 minutes before then brush it out because it helps my curls hold so much better! I then go back in with the spray after I finish curling and letting my curls cool. It gives me so much volume without leaving my hair feel tangled, it’s a very soft texture and has the best smell which I love. It’s $14.99 for a 6.9 oz bottle or $4.99 for 1.7oz

Ash me out
Ash me out
Have you really wanted to be a nice ash brown but it seems impossible to get to this color? Here’s why: Ash brown usually contains blues and purples to tone down yellow and orange pigments. The only way you can really get these tones to work and get extremely ashy is if you have a certain level of blonde, either prelightened or natural.  There are 10 levels of hair color: • 1- Black • 2-Darkest brown (the eye doesn’t notice the difference between level 2 and level 1, so hairstylists just mix a level 1 and 3 together) •3-Dark brown  •4- Medium Brown •5-Light Brown •6-Lightest brown •7-Darkest Blonde •8-Medium Blonde •9-Light Blonde  •10- Lightest Blonde/Platinum  There are also underlying pigments ghat each level of color brings, so if you lighten your hair and wonder why you got red or orange, this is why. As well as 10 levels of color, the 10 undertones that come with them are:   •Black- has blue tones ALWAYS  •Darkest brown- Blue and Violet tones •Dark Brown-Violet •Medium brown-Red and Violet •Light brown- Red and Orange •Lightest brown- Orange and Red •Darkest blonde-Orange •Medium blonde- Yellow and Orange •Light Blonde- Yellow •Lightest blonde- Pale yellow So now, knowing what colors turn certain tones when you lighten them to different levels, to get an ash brown you should probably be a level 8 and up! Levels with yellow tend to accept both blue and violet pigments and they turn to a beautiful “mushroom brown” color! It’s not easy to achieve but at least now you know the process in which us hairstylists should be working through with your haircolors(:  This client was just a simple toner over her platinum blonde hair because she wanted something to lighten up by the summer so she could lighten again with less damage! Products used: Olaplex shampoo OLAPLEX - No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo Olaplex conditionerOLAPLEX - No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner She has extremely porous hair from lightening from level 1 to level 10 so this shampoo and conditioner really help save her from anymore damage Amika’s The wizard detangling primeramika: - The Wizard Detangling Primer Kevin Murphy anti gravity spray (to hold in the curls) KEVIN.MURPHY - Anti.Gravity Spray

😳Why box dye is TERRIBLE for your hair
😳Why box dye is TERRIBLE for your hair
As some of you may know by now, I am a licensed cosmetologist. I see TONS of clients everyday and a large amount of my new clients are color corrections. What’s a color correction? Wells color correction is usually a pricey service that a hairstylist does once your hair is compromised from box dye...or maybe you gave yourself a hOMBRÈ. Yeah I called you out😂 This service is so pricey because it can take HOURS to fix this situation. This haircolor, took FIVE hours. She had three layers of red box dye in her hair and about two inches of regrowth that was lighter than the red. Trust me I wanted to cry when I saw it. This is every hairstylists worst nightmare. A client wanting to be blonde but their red. Lol not gonna happen. As you can see, there’s still some red, that’s where she really overlapped her box dyes. Box dyes are progressive dyes that really buildup on the hair. They have metallic salts that can build up and reeeaally dry out the hair....not fun. If I do a color correction over boxed hair I will seriously FORCE clients to get Olaplex added to the color and lightener. It’s soo damaged just in general and it’ll be worse after a huge chemical service like this one! Use these to prevent any further damage OLAPLEX - No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo OLAPLEX - No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner amika: - The Wizard Detangling Primer OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme KEVIN.MURPHY - Smooth.Again

Incredibly Silky Soft Hair (I’m obsessed!)
Incredibly Silky Soft Hair (I’m obsessed!)
I love leave-in hair products. They’re easy to use - you just spray it in your hair, go about your day and forget all about it. I’m actually switching up between 3 different types of leave in treatments at the moment! This leave in conditioner by Schwarzkopf is absolutely wonderful. It was super affordable and leaves your hair feeling super soft to the touch with a lovely shine (and of course smells great). This is extremely useful for days where you don’t have enough time to condition your hair but still need something to tame your hair. The spray application is great because it’s so easy to apply. I apply this generously to the ends of my hair when I’m straight out of the shower and go in with a wide tooth comb just to ensure that it’s evenly distributed through my hair. You can either just blow dry as normal or let it air dry. It’s also amazing for detangling. Just spritz and them comb through the ends. One thing i’ve noticed is that you do need to be relatively generous with this product if you have thicker hair like me! This product is particularly great for people with dry damaged hair. My ends feel extremely healthy and shiny. The product itself is relatively thin in consistency too so it’s perfect for everyday use. I find that some leave in conditioners can feel a bit heavy and weigh on your hair – this one is lightweight and is perfect for people who want a bit more volume on the head. I’m always looking for new leave in products - what’s your favourite? I think out of all the ones I’ve tried so far, my favourite is still by far the John Freida Frizz Ease Serum (I’ve done a review on this in one of my other posts!)
