hi friends! I’m Eileen or SoSkintriguing (on insta too!) I am a skincare addict always on the lookout for my next product and review!
Best skincare combo for flawless makeup
As someone who never skips a day of wearing spf, it’s always important for me to find spfs that work well under makeup. Also important that my spf doesn’t pill on my moisturizer. Luckily I found that this duo looks totally seamless under makeup and causes absolutely no pilling! GOOD MOLECULES - Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer So I have had this a bit and never really fell in love with it. It isn’t super moisturizing for my dry skin and found that it was just kind of blah for me. That is until I started using it with the Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 sunscreen. So the moisturizer works as a nice matte-looking base. It doesn’t leave the skin shiny, oily or dewy. It does seems to fill in pores minimally and make my skin look super smooth. The magic happens when you use the supergoop spf on top. The spf is a super dimethicone based spf, and it is totally clear! Like no white cast at all. Looks so smooth on top of the moisturizer and just glides on. The dimethicone helps fill pores even more as well so my skin ends up looking so smooth and ready for makeup application. Definitely recommend this combo for anyone who wears makeup!

Fresh fragrance that doesn’t trigger migraines!
Who else has migraines caused by scents? Ever since I was a teen, I have had migraines triggered by anything with a vanilla scent, anything that felt musky, rich, or particularly strong. Very sweet smells, or sultry smells (like whiskey and the likes) made me feel awful and nauseous for hours. It’s taken years to know what scents will work and what won’t, and I am happy to add PINROSE - Wild Child to the list of acceptable scents for me. The main notes of this perfume are gardenia, jasmine, and frangipani which makes it so floral and fresh smelling. It says it has vanilla, but I don’t notice it at all. So with this scent, I feel like I smell like a greenhouse of exotic flowers with just a bit of sweetness. I suck at describing scents though lol. In terms of strength, this lasts nearly all day but it is not a scent that wafts off of you. If someone is within a few feet, they will be able to smell it but it’s not overwhelming. I think it makes it great for work or going out and not wanting to leave a cloud of perfume behind you. Every time I wear it, I get a compliment on how good I smell. Another benefit is that this perfume just works with my body chemistry! It somehow smells better and better the longer I have it on. I just feel like it’s made for me! It is $77 for 150ml which feels about right for perfume. It does last a long time for me since I don’t spray it to heavily each time. I also think pinrose is a fun, ethical brand (cruelty free) so I am happy to support them!
Outdoor dining makeup ☀️🍔
So with all that’s going on, I’m sure a lot of us have only been able to do outdoor dining. Which means wearing a mask into the restaurant and removing it at your table. Obviously I want my skin to look good but also don’t want thick heavy makeup that’s going to rub off inside my mask. So this is what I’ve been using for a light makeup look. COLOURPOP - Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Tinted Moisturizer This is the PERFECT no makeup makeup staple. The texture is light, the coverage is light. It makes me glow like a lil baby dumpling. The fact that it hydrates the skin rather than drying it is amazing for my dry skin. I enjoy the pump top and find it dispenses the perfect amount to use each time. I find it applies so well with finger tips or a sponge making it very versatile. If you like heavy coverage or super long lasting, this is not the product for you. But if you’re a less is more type of human, you’ll enjoy this. The shade range is also decently comprehensive too. As always Colourpop makes their products super affordable at $14 ($0.33/ml product) so it’s a winner for me. COLOURPOP - Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Concealer I enjoy this concealer on acne spots but I don’t love it quite like the tinted moisturizer. It is a bit thicker than the tinted moisturizer and enhances my dryness in some spots. I do like to use a tab or 2 under my eyes to brighten them up and cover dark circles but I honestly can do without this on most days. Biggest complaint though, is that the white print on it has totally rubbed off onto my hands. Glossier. - Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color I don’t know what I can say about cloud paint that hasn’t been said already. It’s so buildable which makes it perfect for light makeup days. I take the smallest dab and use it on each cheek for just a tiny flush of color. There are quite a few shades but dusk is by far my favorite for a bronzey look! Then I just finish off with whatever mascara I have laying around and call it a day!

Dry, acne prone skin? YOU NEED THIS!
If you have dry, acne prone skin, you know how hard it is to find a product that helps the acne without drying your skin out like crazy! When I saw the ROSEN SKINCARE - Earth Mask I was intrigued because it’s marketed as an acne mask for dry skin types. Here are my thoughts on the mask: The website states that this mask is 2oz and it really is. It feels super small when you get it compared to other masks. They are honest about the amount, but I’m just used to bigger jars. The actual mask is sort of like a whipped cream texture and it applies so smoothly to the skin. I found that a small amount does cover my whole face. So this mask is a zinc base with eucalyptus oil. As a result it has a strong minty/earthy smell and a cooling feel on the skin. I don’t mind it but I could see it being an issue for sensitive skin types. I did notice that this helped clear up little clusters of whiteheads I was getting. No help with cystic acne which is not surprising. Overall the mask feels fresh and non drying on my face. It didn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dried out after using it which is rare for acne masks. Overall I’m a big fan of how this worked for my skin type and would recommend to anyone who has acne and dry to oily skin. I would not recommend for sensitive skin

Battle of the dark spot microdart patches ‼️
If you’ve ever had a dark spot left from acne, you know how frustrating it can be to get the spot to fade. Luckily microdart patches have become pretty commonplace and many do a great job at helping. Today, we are going to compare the dark spot patches from ZitSticka and Peach Slices! First up: ZITSTICKA - Hyperfade 12 individually packed patches $34 for a box 24 microdarts per patch I was curious to test these as I LOVE the killa patches from ZitSticka. These contain hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, kojic acid, TXA to name a few which are great for targeting dark spots. I did like how these worked overall, as I did see some improvements in my spots but I don’t know that I would repurchase, solely based on price. Each box is pricey, with each patch being roughly $2.80 which seems like a lot for a spot treatment. I had to use about 4 on one spot over 2 weeks to see the best improvement which means it was pricey to treat just one little spot. Next: peach slices - Dark Spot Microdarts 9 multipackaged patches (one sheet) $8.99 per package 176 microdarts per patch These patches are a new release for the brand so I was excited to be able to try them! I liked the fact that they weren’t all individually packaged because less waste is always better! I was very impressed with the number of microdarts- I found that they were very small but definitely penetrated into the skin well and did a good job lightening the dark spot. This one contains hyaluronic acid, vitamin c, and licorice to help with the spot. These had to be used a few times to see results as well, but only come out to $1 per patch which feels reasonable to me. Overall, the biggest difference to me is the price point. I don’t think I can justify $34 on microdart patches, but $9 feels very affordable to me. Plus, the Peach Slices has so many more microdarts per patch which I think helped with penetrating into my skin better and gave a slightly better result. The ZitSticka patches did have a more robust ingredients list which may make them slightly more effective for some. Overall, I would choose the peach slices for me. I think both are effective at doing their job, I can’t personally justify that price for these one use patches.

My acne fighting arsenal 🥊🥊
With the crazy weather, stress, and constant mask wearing this summer, my skin has decided we are no longer friends and has left me a ton of acne to deal with. Luckily these products have all been major helpers in keeping my skin clear and calm! THE inkey LIST - Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Blemish + Blackhead Serum The inkey list BHA is super no-nonsense in that the serum is literally just BHA with no added frills or anything. I use this regularly at night a few times a week to help keep my pores clear, but it also helps a ton with active acne too which I love. I don’t find it drying which is why I like it so much. I don’t love the texture which I find a bit sticky tbh. Signature CLEAR - Magic Oil: Oil Cleanser and Face Oil This oil is the actual best around. It’s formula is very simple but it has really great ingredients for calming acne prone skin and reducing inflammation. I use this mixed into my moisturizer every single night to attempt to keep my skin clear and happy. Warning, it has a very earthy smell to it in case you’re sensitive to these things! a love story. - Boy Tears Hydrating Essence This is another BHA product in the form of an essence. I find this to be so so gentle that it can easily be used every single day. I feel like the daily use allows me to reduce acne since it’s being used consistently. SOME BY MI - AHA. BHA. PHA 30 Days Miracle Cream I ended up really liking this cream this summer. It has AHA, BHA and PHA which all penetrate the skin to different levels so skin can be exfoliated fully. It isn’t very strong and it also contains niacinamide and tea tree to help keep skin super clear. I feel like it has such a great combo of ingredients so it really does help my skin overall. It’s just not quite moisturizing enough for me so I often need to pair it with another cream. ROSEN SKINCARE - Break-Out This is fairly new to me but took me no time to fall in love. This spot treatment uses peppermint oil to target acne spots along with zinc. I use this only on active spots and notice that they are reduced the next day without leaving a dried up spot in the location of the acne. So essentially it takes care of the acne without drying my skin past the point of no return.

Hack to clean makeup brushes
I had never heard of cleaning your makeup brushes with Zote laundry soap before until I saw this hack on tick toc. I thought I’d give it a try I saw several videos where they just place the soap in the sink and rub the makeup brushes over the soap bar and rinse them. That seemed like a waste of soap to me. Then I saw the video below where they put the zote in a glass jar and I thought that would be quarantine project & a cute idea, and would save on waste Tick toc video https://vm.tiktok.com/nf9J6A/ Materials needed to make your own jar 1): Zote laundry soap $1.00 2): Small Glass jar or container 3): boiling water 4): vegetable peeler or vegetable shredder Steps to make your own jar 1): Use a vegetable peeler to slice the zote soap In thin slices 2): put slices in glass jar or container of Choice leave room for water 3): Pour boing water over the zote soap I stirred mine a little. Like a massive glass of red wine for your face
🍷🍷 who doesn’t love red wine? That’s essentially how I ended up with this mask- saw red wine and thought “I have to have it!” So I ordered the naturallogic - Luna Biofermented Red Wine Mask and patiently waited. * I will preface this review by mentioning that this is a limited release that only come out once a year for a limited time* This mask contains bio fermented red wine, honey, hyaluronic acid, and a bunch of other yummy ingredients. The texture is rich and thick, but it softens up with the warmth of your skin. It is not sticky and just applies like magic to your skin. This is a hydrating mask that can be left on for an hour+ to give it time to soak in. I would recommend it for dry skin types but it definitely is not too thick for combo or oily skin types. It smells like fruity wine on which is what it is. I like the scent but I could see it being too much for people. The scent is natural from the ingredients and not from fragrance. MY RESULTS After using this, my skin felt very soft and glowy. It added back the necessary hydration without a heavy feel or any breakouts. It was safe for my sensitive skin which I really enjoyed but also wasn’t too thick for my acne prone skin. It was pricey compared to most masks I’ve tried but it’s from a small brand and it really is a lovely mask so I would be willing to spend this again. I just don’t think anything beats grabbing a glass of red wine, putting this mask on, and watching an hour of Netflix. It’s been an absolute joy for me during quarantine!

Fresh Sugar lip balms
The fresh - Sugar Hydrating Lip Balm-Blood Orange come in a bunch of tasty flavors in the cutest little jars. I have lime mint, watermelon and caramel. My favorite is definitely lime mint with watermelon being a close second. I find these equivalent to just about any lip balm out there. They’re a little sticky and moderately hydrating. They add great shine to your lips and they smell so good! I don’t think there is anything particularly special about these lip balms but they are cute and have great flavors. They are definitely pricey for a lip balm so I think you can get something way cheaper that works the same but I don’t mind paying extra for their cuteness.

Another oil added to the collection
So the a love story. - You Make Me Blush - Nutrient-Dense Elixir elixir/oil has been in my collection for a while now and I find it to be a nice oil overall. It says it’s meant to feel like and oil-like serum but to me it just feels like an oil. They claim it can brighten skin with Rose de mai extract (although I’m not really sure what that is) and contains sea buckthorn oil which is full of omegas. I feel like this oil is super rich and I love applying it right after moisturizer or even mixing it into my moisturizer for super hydration. It smells like roses in a nice way which I like. It doesn’t have that super artificial rose smell. Supposedly it isn’t from added fragrance but I’m not sure if rose de mai extract is just like an essential oil which is pretty much fragrance. The bottle it comes in is super cute! The white dropper bottle with peach label looks adorable. Biggest downside is the dropper is a bit messy and I find it hard to dispense the product. This brand is super aesthetic which I love about them. I find my skin is super hydrated and plump when using this but I don’t notice any brightening or fine line reduction like the brand mentions. Overall, I think this is a nice basic oil that helps hydrate and moisturize the skin. It doesn’t really have any special capabilities overall. I would repurchase but I currently have too many oils to get through. This costs $19 for 30 ml which isn’t too expensive to me. Are there cheaper oils that work the same as this? I think so. I do like how this oil feels on over a lot of other oils but it essentially works the same.a love story. - You Make Me Blush Elixir
