This truly is magic!
I’ve been obsessed with the @ctilburymakeup Magic Serum Crystal Elixir since I got it and now I’m on my second bottle! The product contains Replexium (their secret ingredient), Vitamin C, Niacinamide and Polyglutamic Acid (a water soluble peptide that’s derived from the mucilage of fermented soy beans) and claims to visibly brighten dark spots, even out skin tone, reduce wrinkles and plump up the skin and after many tries I can attest that it does indeed do all those things! Replexium is a peptide duo (water soluble) helps reduce wrinkles (and I don’t mean just plumping so it reduces the appearance of wrinkles). The Vitamin C and the Niacinamide help brighten the skin and help reduce hyperpigmentation. The Polyglutamic Acid helps hydrate the skin! It’s said to be 4x more plumping than Hyaluronic Acid! This along with Charlotte’s 8 “Magic Ingredients” (BioNymph Peptide, Aloe Extract, Rosehip Oil, Camellia Oil, Frangipani Flower Extract, Shea Butter, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamins C & E) make the perfect concoction for bright, glowy, hydrated and youthful skin! It’s super lightweight and goes perfectly under makeup and under other skincare! I do usually add another moisturizer on top since I have combo normal (but now leaning a little dry because of the weather) skin! It’s definitely plumped up and smoothed out my fines and my skin is a lot more even! I can get away with no concealer and no foundation on most days! I know she’s pricy but she really works! Totally with trying and highly recommend it! 🤍✨

Tilbury Magic Elixir
We first received this product during Nordstrom Anniversary event this last year as part of a set. Tilbury sent us the tester so of course we had to try them out. The serum itself is super silky and soft. I swear the pores on my hand just opened up and sucked it all in (dry skin probz) and you know I have hella sensitive skin so I was a bit concerned to put it on my face. Given that I use Charlotte Tilbury - Magic Cream Moisturizer I was sure it wasn’t going to bother my face and it didn’t. Went on super smooth and my face had an instant glow! What it is: A Vitamin C and Polyglutamic Acid anti-aging serum that reduces appearance of dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles, visibly brightens, and plumps skin for flawless makeup application. Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily Skincare Concerns: Dark spots, pores, and loss of firmness and elasticity Formulation: Lightweight Serum Highlighted Ingredients: - Golden Vitamin C: This more stable form of vitamin C evens and brightens skin tone more thoroughly than traditional vitamin C. - Polyglutamic Acid: Four times more hydrating than hyaluronic acid, it acts as a plumper-looking skin filter to reduce appearance of fine lines. - Niacinamide 5%: Minimizes the appearance of pores, improves visible skin texture and tone.
Gimmick or genius?: A $115 bottle of lies
Answer: GIMMICK I just found out that collagen molecules are way too big to actually help our skin if placed topically. So I cannot recommend you spend your money on something that will work. But ALGENIST - GENIUS Liquid Collagen is a vegan collagen serum that is formulated to even out skin tone, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and restore your skin’s elasticity. Algenist says it is good for dry, normal, oily and combination skin types. It absorbs into the skin quickly because it is so lightweight. The yellow “beads” is microalgae oil that helps hydrate and nourish your skin. (Does oil hydrate? 🧐🤔) I’ve gotten samples of the product before and I finally used points to get a pequeño bottle sample. I am not seeing amazing results, but I do think I need to be more consistent. So it may be on me, but I also blame the bottle. The beads get stuck and don’t make dispensing the product easy. I have been to Sephora to test if it is a fluke with the rubber-tipped, glass pipet and the same thing happened with the normal bottle. At this point in time, I also cannot recommend this product because of functionality. I have been using it for a month and the bottle just isn’t ideal. I think if they would have to make the glass syringe bigger to make it easier, but then that would dispense too much product. Specs: 1 oz./30mL 🔍 • Sephora: $115 • Algenist.com: $115

Great serum for radiant and healthy skin!
Claims: Non-water based and high concentration serum for brightening. Helps with skin brightening, soothing, evening out skin tone and elasticity whilst providing a healthy and balanced skin. Key Ingredients- 86.14 % Vitamin Tree Extract (aka Sea Buckthorn), Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Centella Asiatica Extract and Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract The overall consistency is lightweight and a little runny. It is fast absorbing, spreads easily and leaves no film or occlusive layer. There is no sticky/tacky feeling and it gives you a nice dewy glow. Overall, it feels comfortable and nourishing on the skin. I use this serum both day and night and at the essence stage. I find that it sits well under other skincare, sunscreen, makeup and had no problems with pilling. However, I do avoid using this serum on humid days since I did look shiny by the end of the day. There is a light citrus scent from the EO’s which I don’t mind because it is not overpowering and the scent goes away after a few seconds. I felt like this serum didn’t do much when it comes to fading away acne scars or hyperpigmentation. However, it did make my complexion look more radiant and healthy. My skin felt smooth, supple and more plump. It really helped with improving my skin texture and tone. Therefore, this serum worked well in terms of brightening up my overall complexion. Also, it provided the right amount of hydration as it did not cause any tight or dehydrated feeling. Overall, I like this serum for when my skin looks tired and dull and needs that extra boost. For brightening and fading hyperpigmentation I saw better results using a concentrated Vitamin C serum. The only major downside is the scent from the EO’s. Otherwise, this is a good all rounder serum.

Brightening serum + oil in one
The Fourth Ray - Raydiate Vitamin C Elixir is such a cool idea to me: as you can see, there are two layers to the product, and you gently shake the bottle to combine the serum and the oil together. This claims to enhance skin radiance, and while I’ve only used it a few times, I really love the mositurizing texture from the oil—I think this might also soothe potential mild irritation from the vitamin C. While there are many differences between the two products, the Biossance squalane + vitamin c oil has a similar idea (a moisturizing oil with the brightening properties of vitamin c), so if you’re turned off by the price point of the Biossance one, I suggest trying this one! It also has turmeric in it, which is a great anti-inflammatory, and hyaluronic acid, which is great for adding and retaining moisture.

What is a essence ? An essence really just became popular in the western beauty world about 2-4 years ago (depends on how long you’ve been into skin care). They’re a staple in the Korean beauty world, as they have a 10 STEP ROUTINE (you can keep that honey). A essence is basically a “moisturizer primer”. It’s meant to be used after your toner & before active serums, or moisturizer (depends on how complex your routine is). Many essences have active ingredients that; combat wrinkles, dry skin, & brighten dull dehydrated skin. (Which my active serums do). They are also held in high regard to penetrate your skin more deeply due to the small molecules that penetrate your skin easier. This essence contains phenoxyethanol which is a irritant, classified as a organ toxic ingredient, & linked to dermatitis — In my honest opinion essence is just a serum — How do you apply essence? Unlike toners, which are applied to cotton pads, essences should be applied with your finger tips. It will just absorb more into the cotton pad making it virtually ineffective. I used this product for a week straight, & honestly it does exactly what my hyaluronic acid serum does. I even tried to add my hyaluronic acid serum to this to make me feel better for buying it (I noticed a slight bit more moisture). Overall I didn’t notice anything different in my skincare routine that my Serums didn’t do and this is probably not for me..

Must Have: Full Moon Serum 🌑
This is a great Canadian product! 🇨🇦 This is a retinol alternative serum, but it’s also an all-in-one super serum in my opinion. It contains botanical retinol, peptides, plant-based collagen, vitamin C, blue tansy, vegan hyaluronic acid, and malachite. What is it? It’s a water-based, light-weight retinol alternative serum. It helps shield your skin from pollutants. It’s multi-functional; it soothes, smoothes, and protects. It gives you a radiant complexion. Ingredients: + Retinol: to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles + Peptides: enriched with amino acids to help firm skin + Collagen: protein rich extract to diminish the appearance of pores + Vitamin C: to assist in brightening your complexion + Anti-Inflammatory: blue tansy rose curtail the appearance of redness + Hyaluronic Acid: to support hydration and boost skin health + Anti-Pollution: concentrate to support skin exposed to pollution GRAYDON - Fullmoon Serum I’m really enjoying this product. It’s hypoallergenic and vegan. It’s suitable for even sensitive skin! This serum has a slight scent which is from the blue tansy, but it’s not over powering at all :) I love how quickly this serum absorbs into my skin. It does feel a tiny bit tacky but I don’t mind that. I applied 5 drops onto my face and neck after cleansing and toning and gently patted it in. I followed it with my moisturizer. This product is gentle enough to use under your eye area; in fact the instructions recommend it :) It doesn’t leave your skin looking or feeling greasy, it absorbs beautifully, it doesn’t clog your pores, and it gives you a nice refreshed look. This can be used in the AM or PM.
Quality Skincare Doesn’t Have to Break Bank 💸
I’m always on the hunt for affordable & accessible skincare so I was excited when No7 gifted me their ✨NEW✨ Advanced Retinol 1.5% Complex. I don’t have a lot of experience with retinol creams from other brands - prior to trying this out, I have only consistently used Drunk Elephant’s A-Passioni, which I love - but it can be $$$! No7’s Advanced Retinol 1.5% Complex is a night concentrate with 5 in 1 capabilities: helps with lines appear smoother, skin tone appears more even, skin appears firmer & more lifted, skin appears brighter & more radiant, and diminishes the appearance of pores & texture. The 0.3% pure retinol included in this formula reboots the skin, allowing you to achieve younger, healthier looking skin. No7 also included their own technology by incorporating Matrixyl 3000 Plus which helps renew skin by kickstarting its natural repair process. This retinol concentrate is an anti-aging dream! The retinol optimiser found in this formula is a slow-release oil encapsulation system that delivers throughout the night, as well as retinol soother to help calm the skin. 🌙 As always, listen to your skin - if you have sensitive skin, be sure to test on a small portion of your skin first to ensure there are no negative reactions / side effects. And most importantly, wear SPF! Retinol can make your skin more sensitive to UV radiation so wearing a good SPF, as you should always, is crucial. 🖤 You can find this product directly on No7’s website for $36.99, or at Ulta, Walgreens for $39.99, or Target for $34.99.
