What happened after 10 days of a vitamin C line

skinillustrated
Over the past 10 days I have been trying out Georgette Klinger’s Vitamin C line! For a bit of background, I have acne prone skin and some hyperpigmentation from previous pimples. I went into this hoping to see improvements. To get the negatives out of the way first, I really dislike that these products have fragrance. All 4 products in this line have fragrance listed as the last ingredient. I would prefer products with active ingredients such as vitamin C to have no fragrance at all as to reduce any chance of irritation. The Vitamin C complex in particular was irritating to my skin so I omitted it from my routine early in the 10 days. My favorite from his line is the Vitamin C mask. I’m a big fan of masks and wash off treatments. I also love thta this is a bentonite clay based mask because those tend to work well with my oily skin. I will definitely continue to use this mask and don’t mind the fragrance in this formula because it is a wash off. As for the toner and cleanser, I didn’t see much positive or negative effects on my skin. They were okay and got the job done but I’m not sure if they’re something I want to include in my everyday routine. At the end of this challenge I can definitely see an improvement in the brightness of my skin. I will say however that my skin took a while to recover from any irritation it faced and I’m not sure if including an active ingredient in every step of your routine is necessarily more effective.

Vitamin C: the ultimate glow inducing ingredient
Vitamin C is one of my favorite powerhouse ingredients! This amazing antioxidant is just great to brighten, correct hyperpigmentation and get an even skin tone! 🍊 I personally am a big fan, and love to use vitamin C to get bright, luminous skin. It’s been so useful to me lately as I’ve been feeling stressed and picking at my skin and it’s so so good to correct darks spots and post-acne marks. These vitamin C products from Georgette Klinger (gifted) we’re just the perfect fit for me! The GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Complex is a lovely serum formulated with Kakadu plum and hyaluronic acid (another ingredient I just love) to promote the absorption of vitamin C. It’s important to know the correct order to apply a vitamin C serum and it should always be after toner but before moisturizer, following the thinnest to thickets rule and you should always, always apply SPF after! Unless you’re applying it at night, in which case you’re good without SPF 😜 I first learned about vitamin C from my husband, and the statues my own research, it’s been one of my tried and true ingredients for years!

Brighter, More Even Skin in just 10 Days!
Before we start, pleaaaase pardon my quarantine brows/hair. **GIFTED: I’ve been trying Georgette Klinger’s new Vitamin Collection through Cherie for the past 10 days and have been loving the line so far. This was my first experience with GK and the first time that I’ve ever followed a routine from a brand, so I was excited to see how using products that were designed to go together and comprised of similar ingredients would affect my skin. As someone with sensitive acne-prone skin with a pinch of rosacea, I’m constantly chasing acne scars and dark spots trying to get rid of every last trace of my breakouts, so using a routine fortified with vitamin C has been really helpful is fighting discoloration/hyperpigmentation and redness. I’ve been using each product twice daily. On day 1, I had some hormonal pimples that were on their way out and my skin was super red from being in the sun. By day 5, the scarring began to decrease and I noticed that the bright redness had started to go down as well, making things look more even and now on day 10, everything is barely there and my complexion is noticeably more even and radiant. Dare I say, the vitamin C might be helping keep my breakouts at bay (fingers crossed!!) In addition to brightening my skin, I noticed that the products helped smooth my skin’s texture as well, which is always welcome. Overall, I'm really pleased with the way the Vitamin C collection has been treating my skin and am so happy to have been able to try it out!

Dull skin no more 🍊
Georgette Klinger kindly gifted me a few products to try, including the GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Mask and I have to admit, I’m not the biggest fan of clay masks because they often feel way too drying for my dehydrated skin and I just cant stand that tight feeling on my face but I’m happy to report this one didn’t feel like that! I left this baby on for about 10 minutes after washing my face in the morning and it really added a nice sheen to my skin. I love that this formula includes argan and avocado oil to keep skin nourished while the kaolin clay draws out impurities. I have yet to see long term results from prolonged use but it’s definitely a nice mask I’ll add to my mask rotation!

My skincare awards: toners
🥇GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Toner $26 This is the toner that I've been using lately, I love the results of Georgette Klinger's Vitamin C line. I had a chance to try it thanks Georgette Klinger and Cherie. Leaves skin fresh and clean, helps diminish dark spots, calms redness, purifies pores and brightens dull skin tone. Its main ingredients: kakadu plum, aloe, withc hazel, watercress and elderflower. It is a lightweight liquid that absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave sticky. It definitely decreased the redness on my skin and has helped decrease dark spots. 🥈 PEACH & LILY - The Good Acids Pore Toner It is a gentle formula even with sensitive skin. Contains AHAs, salicylic acid, cape lilac, eggplant, turmeric extracts, aloe and allantoin. I had the opportunity to try it thanks to a BoxyCharm box. I have used it a few times but I liked it, it doesn’t cause irritation and absorbs quickly, its texture is liquid and it has no odor. It is ideal for oily and combination skin. It is definitely a gentle exfoliating toner that doesn’t cause irritation, making it ideal for even the most sensitive skin. ❌ YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner $38 Long ago I did a review of this toner, I had used it for two weeks and my first impression was that it didn’t absorb well, since it leaves sticky feeling. In fact they mention it on their website, but for me that feeling is unbearable. I found it as a new product at Sephora and bought it to try it out as I had a good experience with the cleanser. I still have the same opinion of that time, the truth is that I wouldn’t buy it again. Its main ingredients: kombucha black tea fermented, tree bark ferment, ginger, lactic acid, glycolic acid, citrus bioflavonoids and lemons water extract. Its texture is liquid, they say "liquid, lightweight", it has no added fragrance. Every time I use it, it causes a little irritation that goes away the next morning, but I think the Peach & Lily is gentler than this toner. It is used 3-5 times a week, at night. I definitely prefer the first two options as they don't irritate me. But I think it depends on your skin type, since many people do very well with YTTP toner.

an amazing line for dull skin + pigmentation
an amazing line for dull skin + pigmentation
Georgette Klinger and Cherie gifted these products to me so I could review them honestly! I have been using them for ten days now, and I have thoughts to share! I supplemented this routine with a moisturizer, spf, and eye cream, as well as hydrating masks every three days. Pre-Information — I’ve used many vitamin c products in the past, and my skin likes the ingredient! I have combo skin, which is sensitive and acne prone. I also have rosacea, which makes my skin red, especially when using actives. Every product here has fragrance and all the products smell like an orchard (it’s strong!). If you are sensitive to fragrance, keep that in mind. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Cleansing Gel I like this cleanser, and I don’t usually reach for gel cleansers because they tend to be fairly stripping. This one is gentle and doesn’t dehydrate my skin on impact; I use it as a second cleanse at night following an oil based cleanser. It doesn’t irritate my skin, but kind of soothes it instead — which is a lot to ask for from a cleanser. Not the best for daytime use for me, I find that in the mornings my skin is better off with water + toner. Three stars because it smells like dollar store hand soap and I cannot ignore it. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Toner I think it’s an okay toner! I don’t like the dispenser at all, because product comes out fast and it’s hard to control. The viscosity of the toner is pretty thin, but my skin feels smooth after application. It sinks in fast and isn’t sticky! I use this with a reusable cotton round and it preps my skin nicely for the rest of my routine. It’s not really a “special” product for me, and I’m the kind of person who wants skincare routines to be ritualistic and also make me feel good on the inside, so I’ll have to pass on repurchasing. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Complex This might be one of my favorite vitamin c serums! It’s a little tacky, but sinks in faster than some serums I’ve used, and once you apply a moisturizer, the tackiness disappears. It’s pretty gentle and I didn’t experience any discomfort, tingling, or excess redness after application. I really like the packaging on this, and it’s an easy product to slip into your routine. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Mask This is my favorite product out of the four! I LOVE the packaging — pump top for a mask? Revolutionary. The pump makes getting product so easy, and you can control it easily. The texture of this mask is like a thick smoothie, and it smells good, too. I noticed my skin becoming brighter when I use this for a midday pick-me-up. I can guarantee that I’ll run out of this one first. Overall, my skin looks GOOD. I can’t tell if it’s just because of my cycle, or if these products did wonders for me (ten days is a short time to tell I think). I did notice some dehydration towards the five day mark, but overall my skin looks better!

Why you should choose chemical exfoliation 🖤
Why you should choose chemical exfoliation 🖤
Exfoliation is such an important, and sometimes over looked part of a skincare routine. You need to get rid of the dead skin cells in order for the new, fresh ones to shine through. You also want to eliminate any spaces for sebum to hide under which is turn clogs the follicle and results in acne. 9 times out of 10 I will always recommend a chemical exfoliator. Unlike physical exfoliators, which use scrubs to slough off the dead skin, chemical exfoliator use acids or enzymes to loosen the bonds between cells so they can easily be washed away. Physical exfoliators often contain harsh ingredients, like walnut shell powder, that can create micro tears in the skin. It’s also very easy to go overboard with. With a chemical exfoliator as long as you’re using it properly they are a lot gentler. I have oily skin so I prefer glycolic acid (if you have dry you might prefer lactic acid). I always exfoliate my face once a week with glycolic acid. My personal favorite right now is the StriVectin - Glycolic Skin Reset Mask . After cleansing my skin I apply the mask and leave on for 5 minutes at least once a week. With this mask my skin always feels a lot smoother afterwards. I’ve seen a good reduction in the texture of my skin. Exfoliating once a week will help your skincare work even better since it doesn’t have layers of dead skin to go through. It helps those with acne prone skin because you don’t have places for sebum to get trapped and it will also help even out any post acne hyperpigmentation. If you’re just wanting to get into chemical exfoliating I would definitely do research on it first. Always do a patch test to make sure you don’t have a bad reaction and work your way up to it slowly. Always follow the directions as well so you don’t burn your face. I say do it once a week and see how your skin feels because there is such a thing as too much exfoliation. Also, when you do exfoliate don’t put anything harsh on the skin afterwards as it’s going to penetrate deeper than it normally would with the fresh skin.

My special routine for mask.
My special routine for mask.
Many people just put on their mask directly on cleansed skin and I used to do that as well. Not saying that’s wrong, but I find out a better way to make the most use of the mask. Personally, I like to add different products to a traditional routine to boost their efficiency and I am really amazed by this method I came up with mask and I have to say this changed my way to put mask a lot.   Step 1: Cleanse and exfoliate—Clarins On-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser It is known to cleanse our skin with nothing leaves on before the mask. I prefer to use an exfoliator to pre-cleanse my face by scrubbing it on first. My concern is acne and oiliness; this scrub cleanser from Clarins is quite gentle yet effective with tiny particles removing dead skin and oil and also easy to wash away. It doesn’t strip my face at all and the orange scent is so refreshing.    Step 2: Fav Booster—The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5%+HA This water-like serum contains 5% lactic acid which is an alpha-hydroxy acid(AHA) famous for gentle exfoliation. It is super lightweight and does not hinder the ingredients from the mask at all. I actually experienced brightening the most from it and it is quite mild for me. So I apply this as a serum right before the mask.   Step 3: The Main Course--Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask This pink gel mask is so cute and caught my eyes for the first sight. Surprisingly it does work for me. It uses new technology to blend rose stem cells, rose extracts and rose water altogether to address problems like dehydration and dullness. I always store this in the fridge and it gets so cool and quenching that way. With scrub and lactic acid, the nutrients from the mask can be better absorbed and my face looks brighter after washing it away.      I use a mask about twice a week, and I apply in this way every single time. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea since we all have different skin types and concerns, but why not letting our products show their full potential when possible?

My Skincare Routine
I’ll go into detail about each one in separate posts, but this is everything I use as a collective. The only thing that isn’t pictured are my cleansers, I use Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser for the days I exfoliating or need something more gentle. I love how light the scent is, and how easy it is on my skin, but if you need something more acne fighting, I would suggest something stronger since this product is all about cleaning. I’m still learning what type of cleanser is for what type of skin, but it’s a gel consistency and has a nice smooth and thick texture, so I believe it’d be great for oily/combo skin types. I also use a turmeric brightening cleanser but can’t remember the name and I’m away from home. 😊

Beginners guide to skincare!!
Beginners guide to skincare!!
When starting skincare I had no idea what I was doing and bought everything I could without knowing what it actually did. Disclaimer I am in no way a dermatologist / esthetician’s these are just knowledge I have gained from dermatologist. Also this is just a pt. 1 be use there is so much information to give. So let’s start with morning skin care : Step 1 :cleanser I’m the morning I like to use a light and gentle cleanser to Step 2 : serums I like to use vitamin c serum in the morning Step 3: moisturizer I use the Dermalogica calming water moisturizer which is what works best for my skin. Step 4: sunscreen This is honestly a step that I need to get into the habit of. It doesn’t matter what your skin type is make this apart of your routine Night routine: Step 1 : cleanse / double cleanse I used and oil based makeup remover balm and rub that in my face and use a wipe that has retinol in it to remove and then I go in with my urban skin rx Step 2: toner Use one without alcohol in it because it will dry out your skin. Step 3: serums I use the bio oil which helps with my dark spots and discoloration that I have Step 4: treatments I put spot treatment on my face whenever I have a stubborn pimple. I also use a facial steamer, micro needling, electric facial scrubber, and obviously face mask ( when doing these make sure it is after washing and the spot treatment is when you are done with everything) There will be a second post maybe more depending on how much more information I have left I’m going to cover different ingredients , what is best for acne, different skin types
