Updated Night Routine!
I had a lot of empties in January, so here is my updated night routine! I have a post detailing actives that I use and my schedule around those actives, so they won’t be included in this post. My first step is my double-cleansing step, I use the Dr Dennis Gross - Hyaluronic Marine Makeup Removing Meltaway Cleanser (📍)to remove SPF and makeup, which I really love, it’s very unique, but it doesn’t break me out at all. Then I use the LANEIGE - Cream Skin Milk Oil Cleanser (📍) to cleanse a second time, I really enjoy this too, my skin tends to freak out when it comes to Laneige’s fragrance, but this is fragrance-free!! After cleansing I steam my face with the Dr Dennis Gross - Pro Facial Steamer which I feel like has really helped the hydration levels of my skin. After that I’ll apply the TATCHA - The Essence Plumping Skin Softener (📍)which I also like, but I’m not sure how much it’s really done for my skin for what it’s worth. I’ll steam again, for about 30 seconds and then go into my PETER THOMAS ROTH - Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum which is the only serum that can truly repair my moisture barrier when I’m breaking out. Then my eye product is The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG (📍)which I’ve been loving a lot too! My current winter moisturizer is the Dr. Jart+ - Ceramidin Cream which again, I like, but it feels like it puts a barrier on my skin, which kind of felt weird to begin with. After moisturizer, my last two steps are to treat any breakouts or spots with the Murad - Blemish Control Rapid Relief Spot Treatment and use something to lock it all in like the The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil it does the job, but smells super weird. The only way I’ve been able to describe it is, picture the olive bar at a local grocery store, and the smell that comes from that. Not super pleasant, but it’s okay. 📍= product was sent to me for free
These are my ride or die
So, I have an autoimmune disease and I tend to have lots of inflammation. That being said, when I wake up puffy like a blow fish 🐠.... these are my life savers ! The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG this little baby packs a punch! De-puffs and gives my eyes a wake up call!! It is unique in that it is not a cream. At first I wasn’t sure, but I’m hooked. One drop on each eye does the trick. Easy to apply, smooth and silky! Wake up those peepers with this little bottle of magic 🪄!! mizz bloom - JADE ROLLER this is my go to in morning to drain my lymphatic system. I keep mine in my skin fridge, so it is nice and cold! Add my serums and then have a nice little roll! De puffs my face and helps with contouring. T
I like it!
Caffeine solution 5% EGCG from The ordinary 👀 It is light textured formula ~alcohol free 🥃~silicone free ~oil free ~gluten-free ~cruelty free 🐰 ~vegan 🌱 ~water free 💧 The ordinary’s caffeine solution is high 5% concentration of caffeine supplemented with highly purified Epigallocatechin Gallatyl glucoses (EGCG) from Green tea 🍵 leaves 🌱 It claims to reduce the appearance of Eye contour, pigmentation & puffiness 👀 Honestly I expect a lot from eye creams and eye treatments because most of them haven’t really worked for me because of my major under eye concerns like dark circles, puffiness, & milia once a while! I tried using it all alone for a month but didn’t notice any major changes under my eyes 👀 Though it has been helpful in reducing pigmentation when used on my skin along with some other Ordinary products, I had to incorporate this with other eye creams like Belief and Drunk elephant’s C tango multivitamin eye cream only then I notice some visible changes under eyes! People have different opinions on the caffeine solution I recommend testing out because of the inexpensive price factor it may work for someone with mild concerns 💕

Ahhh Vitamin C products.. suitable for all skin types and ages. Providing glorious antioxidants, which prevent scary damage to our skin cells from the environment and pollution. This same damage causes our skin to age, and look dull. This can be helped by using topical Vitamin C. In essence Vit C brightens the skin, reduces the appearance of dark spots, sun damage and helps to reduce wrinkles and sagging! . There are many Vitamin C products available. . Things to consider: 🍊Products generally contain derivatives of Vitamin C rather than its pure form. 🍊Vit C derivatives are less irritating to the skin, and are stabler than pure Vit C, which is unstable ie it goes off and stops working. 🍊A common chemical you might see in a PURE Vit C product is Lascorbic Acid (its been around for a long time and is well tested. thats why products with this ingredient are cheaper. luckily its proven to be v. effective). The Ordinary offers this in a powder form, which you can see in this pic and at a reasonable price tag too. Delicious!! 🍊The concentration of Vit C in skincare should range between 10-20% (research shows 10% is effective). My view is that when going for a Vit C product, go for a brand you know and which is well established. . i went for this deciem 100% L’ascorbic acid powder. As its very stable. To apply you use a cute little applicator spoon (provided) and add a small amount into your morning serum or moisturizer. I have only just got it so wont review it yet. . The newer Vit C derivatives that are becoming popular include: sodium ascorbyl phosphate and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate.

The Ordinary’s Retinol Serum is ....
Nothing to write home about. This is their Retinol 0.5% In Squalene. The instructions say to apply it after your more watery serums and before your heavier treatments. It applies pretty greasy and does not sink in immediately, but that’s not my issue with it. I just... don’t know that it does much. It irritated my skin and before you sharpen your pitchforks, yes I have used retinol before and I did not use this every single night. I use it about every third night. I just find that the mornings after I use this, I have little red marks on my face, and when I don’t use it, my face looks pretty good. I do keep this in my fridge, per the Dieciem sales person’s instructions. Oh, and an aside— you know how LUSH is known for their exceptional customer service and how nice and approachable their sales associates are? If there was ever an anti-hero counterpart you that sales person, it is the clerks at Deciem. Holy baby Jesus, it’s like they don’t want you to buy anything, they assume you know nothing about skincare, and at the checkout they triple check to make sure “are you sure you can handle this?” ... In any case, this retinol is okay. It’s not my favorite, but I’ll continue to use it because I bought it. The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane

I finally tried something from The Ordinary recently and of course, being the acid/peel lover that I am - naturally the first product I wanted to try was this one. It’s weak compared to the pro peels I’m familiar with but with that said, I think it’s a great at home alternative for the average consumer. I still felt the tingles (man I love that feeling 😍) and I think it’s great for those who are used to using acids. I for sure wouldn’t recommend starting out with this because pro or not, it’s still intense and for sure isn’t for those with sensitive skin. I’m always weary of retail products that boast such high percentages of ahas/bhas but the formulation on this one is quite appropriate and you can’t beat the price!

This is the one product from Deciem that showed such dramatic results for me. This is my third bottle & I was using it night & day religiously as I really wanted this product to live up to its hype for me. I think about a week before I ran out of my first bottle I noticed my skin was so plump & even and I knew this was the only new addition to my routine at the time. I couldn’t get my next order of the stuff for 2 months or so, & my skin lost all the suppleness😪 I was trying so hard to just use Venn Skincare All in one Concentrate during the day, but I need/want to incorporate the Buffet again, as I’m really wanting my skin to get back to that state! This is an anti aging product, it claims that this “powerful all-in-one treatment tackles multiple signs of ageing”. Really lives up to its claims! The only downside for me is it’s tackiness, I have to give it a good 20 min to absorb before applying my next layer.
It’s no secret, that I’m a huge deciem fan. But even I don’t love every single one of their products. Case in point: The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone just isn’t for me. It’s a pretty straight forward product: it contains three different forms of silicone and 30 % ascorbic acid. I’ve used all kinds of different forms and different strengths of vitamin C, including NIOD’s ELAN (which is 30% of ethyl ascorbic acid), my favorite so far. It’s a bit expensive though, so I wanted to try a cheaper alternative. Unfortunately I couldn’t even use the 30% suspension long enough to see if it had any brightening effects on my skin, because it tingled/burned so much. My skin isn’t exactly sensitive and I’ve used all kinds of acids, but the sensation was just too uncomfortable. If you have super tough skin and want to try something affordable to brighten it, you might be able to use it. Otherwise you should probably skip this one.
