Wrecked barrier? Ceramides to the rescue!
I think we’ve all been there.... your skin feels dry and tight. It has so much redness and irritation that every product stings your skin. Welcome to an unhappy moisture barrier. But, CERAMIDES TO THE RESCUE! Which product would be best for introducing this miracle ingredient into your skin? The thick and creamy Drunk elephant Lala retro or Krave Beauty’s great barrier relief serum? Keep reading to find out. DE Lala retro claims to be: a rescue cream infused with six rare African oils and a ceramide complex for intense moisture and replenishing barrier support. Krave Beauty GBR: claims to be a skin soothing serum that restores your damaged skin barrier while evening out your complexion. As a gal with super dry and dehydrated, sensitive skin, it is SUPER easy for me to push my skin to the limit and wreck my barrier. I honestly love to keep both of these in my stash, but have been reaching for GBR by Krave much more often. When your skin just cannot retain moisture and is so irritated, I love to opt for the soothing serum. It’s very thin texture soaks right into my skin instead of staying as a greasy film on top of the skin. It also contains olive oil, which is an occlusive, to really lock in the moisture. I will opt for Lala retro, which is a beautiful thick moisturizer, as upkeep and/or when my moisture barrier is finally on the uprise. I believe that both of these have amazing ingredients that will not irritate your skin further. I think that Lala retro may be a bit heavy for oily skin types, but for the most part both of these should work great for all skin types. I highly recommend you keep these in your stash if you use actives, because they are easy to overdo! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream

Since my last post my routine has been all over the place. Cleansers: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin3 times a week PanOxyl - Acne Foaming Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Maximum Strength4 times a week Treatment: 0.0025% tretinoin 3 times a week. I use after the CeraVe Krave - Great Barrier Relief my skin was struggling in Dec so I purchased this in order to heal my moisture barrier, which was damaged. My skin is now doing better and am back on using my stronger treatments and products above. Moisturizer: FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream SPF: CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 Along with everything I have been on 100mg of Spironolactone since Jan 8th. I do believe my skin is flaring up because of it and it will until my body adjusts to it. I am having a hard time handling the hyperpigmentation on my face from last acne, or so I believe it’s hyperpigmentation. I know there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have been on spiro in the past and it did wonders for my skin, so I look forward to this journey. Will post updates as I see improvements or needed!
Great product for all skin types. I use this almost every night due to my skin being dry and my moister barrier is thin. When I'm trying new products, I know this product has my back to make sure what I try doesn't ruin my skin barrier. If you have oily skin, probably not something you need to use every day, but to have on hand when you do have a day your skin is sensitive and irritated at something. This also gets my fragrance and essential oil free stamp of approval! It has an oder that you have to get past, kind of earthy (so you know even without looking at the ingredients it's free from perfumes). On top of that, they list the % of their actives in their ingredients! This is the first product I've tried from Krave beauty and I'll likely be trying them all. Very pleased

drunk elephant review with fungal acne🐘💗
as someone with fungal acne, buying the same products can be reaaallyyy boring. so this is my review of drunk elephant as someone with fungal acne!! * disclaimer, NONE of these products are fungal acne safe!! use at your own risk * DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser this cleansing balm doesn’t really emulsify when you activate it with water, leaving a really oily feeling😕 and doesn’t remove all my makeup DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample this is a really nice gentle foaming cleanser... and thats pretty much it. DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum i love this serum! its a lovely gel serum that absorbs in quickly and is greak at oil control DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum this serum is a little tricky, i haven’t really noticed a difference in my skin in terms if brightness, i do have a bit of dark spots and they haven’t budged. not to mention this formulation is a rip off of the SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream this is a thicc moisturizer that surprisingly doesn’t leave my oily skin looking greasy af. its a good moisturizer for dry combo skin! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream this moisturizer feels exactly like the lala retro... its just 8 dollars more expensive DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask this mask burns so bad the first 20 seconds but then it settles down. i really havent seen a difference in my skin so DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil ive only used this oil a few times but wow it really makes your skin feel super soft and dewy DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lippe Balm DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lippe Balm i love this lip balm but its 16 dollars and the claim are completely false! in conclusion, i wont be repurchasing anymore of drunk elephant products because in reality they are just good products... nothing too special ESPECIALLY for the price. they aslo didn’t want to provide information about the percentage of black employees during the Pull Up Or Shut Up movement so yeah. their aesthetic is cute but ive grown out of this phase 😀 like and save!! xo melanie
2020 empties and new goodies!!
here are all of my 2020 empties!!! i went ahead and categorized them by brand so that i dont get things mixed up. etude house ——————— ETUDE - SoonJung pH6.5 Whip Cleanser my favorite fungal acne safe cleanser!! its perfect for dry combo skin! ETUDE - Etude House SoonJung pH 5.5 Relief Toner a great fungal acne safe hydrating toner! better for dry skin, it would sometimes leave me oily at the end of the day. drunk elephant ————————— DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum although this serum isn’t fungal acne safe, my skin seems to enjoy it. it has a gel texture and actually regulates my oily forehead DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream another non fungal acne safe products. BUT doesn’t cause me to have breakouts!! its a thicc cream but doesn’t leave me feeling oily!! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream Deluxe Sample again... not fungal acne safe but STILL didn’t cause me to have any breakouts!! the protini feels similar in terms of thickness and the over all feeling on the skin but it feels more “ wearable “ first aid beauty ————————— FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oil-Control Moisturizer i was super excited to tey this out because the ingredients are fungal acne safe and the claims were ideal for my skin type but sadly i was disappointed 😞 it didn’t control my oil but rather left mw with this shine on my forehead! and it didn’t moisture my dry cheeks. epic fail FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Coconut Water Cream this is a very basic fungal acne safe moisturizer i recommend to literally every one. i do like it and all but i find my skin still breaking out while i use this product. i would give it a 3 1/2 stars but i cant. CUROLOGY!!!! ———————— Curology - Curology formula Curology - Curology formula if you have fungal acne THIS is the treatment you NEED to try!!! my holy grail!! naturium ————— NATURIUM - Marine Hyaluronic Water Cream NATURIUM - Marine Hyaluronic Water Cream technically this moisturizer isn’t fungal acne safe because it contains polysorbate HOWEVER its one of the last ingredients listed so its not likely to have any affect. this is my FAVORITE MOISTURIZER!!! super affordable and feels luxurious and its amazing on my combo skin NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% my favorite fungal acne safe niacinamide serum!!! its affordable and it does exactly what it claims to do. literally cant get any better than this other lonely products ————————————- boscia - Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer this is a fungal acne safe moisturizer however its not very good at moisturizing or controlling oil 😕 but the packaging is cute i guess
I didn’t know I’d be this obsessed 😍
I am utterly HEART EYES over this exfoliating serum! I have sensitive skin and am often hesitant on trying exfoliants. This was my first introduction to a chemical exfoliant and to say I’m obsessed is a down play. I started off using this product once a week and now I have a schedule of using it every weds+fri. There’s a slight tingle upon application and it lasts about 30secs at max. After application I go ahead and apply my Versed moisturizer. In the morning I feel plump, dewy, and fresh! VERSED - SKIN SOAK Rich Moisture Cream After about a month of use this product has helped the overall texture of my skin and I see a major difference in skin tone. I will definitely be repurchasing and highly recommend this product for my sensitive skin friends 💕 FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum

FAV Skincare Brand 🤩
I love Krave Beauty, I love the brands mission on simple skincare to reset the skin. It’s the perfect method. I love this brand because the owner Liah Yoo is so informational and kind with the people who shop her products, I love how responsive they are. What people should know is that these products are made of all great ingredients the moisturizer only has 10 ingredients!!! I am obsessed with Krave - Great Barrier Relief when using this your skin is glowy af and your skin is moisturized and hydrated. I love the Krave - Oat So Simple Water Cream because it’s perfect to seal everything in while hydrating the skin! Affordable prices too!
Krave-Great Barrier Relief
When it comes to repairing my damaged skin barrier; dehydrated, flaky, tightness - these are all the signs I've been feeling due to having allergic reactions or when testing new products gone wrong so it's important to have some sort of backup when my skin gets crazy. I've incorporated that krave Great Barrier Relief！ Skin Barrier Repairing Serum into my daily skincare routines although not on daily basis; whenever I feel my skin actually need reinforcement. The only feat that I don't like about this serum is its scent and after topping it with so many other moisturisers, facial mists even sleeping masks, I find that Dr.Jart Calming Gel Cream is the best one to pair with the serum. Why? Simply because I love how my skin feel not only well-hydrated but also smooth and not greasy at all. Now that I'm about to finish that deluxe sample I've redeemed from Sephora I think I'm gonna grab the full-sized tube very soon.

Just wanted to highlight a few products I’ve been loving recently! ✨ - 🍵krave beauty Great Barrier Relief I’m nearing the end of my first bottle of this and already have a replacement on order. I use it morning and night to nourish with GREAT ingredients like tamanu oil; safflower & rosehip seed oils; and NMF, ceramides, cholesterol & squalene to mimic a healthy skin barrier. It’s so soothing to irritated skin. 10/10 will forever repurchase. Kale-Lala-yAHA Quickly becoming one of my favorite chemical exfoliants in my morning routine. At 5.25% glycolic acid, it’s not too strong, but strong enough that I still feel a little tingle when I apply it. I‘ve definitely seen a difference in the clarity of my skin since I’ve started using this. It also boasts a lot of other lovely ingredients to nourish and hydrate while exfoliating, such as antioxidants from dark, leafy greens, allantoin & aloe to soothe, hyaluronic acid, and Vitamin B5. It’s good stuff. ☔️truly organic Purple Rain Glow Serum Retinol + Glycolic Acid + Antioxidant Boost - I love this to maintain the once-a-week, heavy-hitting dose of retinol I get from A-Pash. Delivering those actives in such a nourishing oil [grapeseed, jojoba, marula, to name a few favorites in the formula] is great for reducing/eliminating the irritation that might come along with them. I always wake up with smooth, decongested skin, and I also like that it shortens my routine by giving me multiple benefits in one products. 💦first aid beauty Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream This was a total impulse buy last week, and I can’t put it down. The texture is unrea! Like an airy, fluffy cloud. It’s so cooling on the skin, too. Big, big fan. Only con: I feel like half the jar is gone already!

Ingredient Breakdown: Ceramides
Ceramides are a lipid that already exist in the strateum corneum, the outermost layer of skin. In fact, your skin is made up of around 50% ceramides! Ceramides hold together skin cells, preventing moisture loss and retaining firmness. UV damage and pollution destroy the number and quality of the ceramides in your skin, leading to loss of the supple feeling of skin, decreased visible smoothness, as well as increasing the likelihood of sensitivity and irritation. I love using ceramides to address both my sensitivity issues (hey eczema fam!) and for youth-promotion. For sensitivity, it shouldn’t take long to feel and see results like reduced redness and increased smoothness, but aging skin should expect a wait time of months for fine line and firmness improvement. I have combination skin, so I love these three products for adding ceramides to my routine without being too heavy for my oily forehead and nose, but offering the hydration my dry cheeks and eye areas need! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream has been my favourite moisturizer throughout my super oily pre-niacinamide days and my super dry eczema flare-ups. It is fluffy and easily absorbed, but layers easily with extra hydrating and moisturizing serums. PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum should be in every sensitive, aging, or dry skin routine. It is light but packs a serious moisturizing and soothing punch. I also recommend it to oily/combination folks when using exfoliants or retinol, to help reduce the likelihood of irritation! PAULA'S CHOICE - Hyaluronic Acid Booster is amazing. Everyone should try this, legitimately. Actual hyaluronic acid plus popular sodium hyaluronate offer light, soothing hydration while cholesterol and ceramide help to retain that hydration without oiliness. It’s perfect for treating skin issues like sensitivity, dehydration, and a damaged skin barrier from overexfoliation or retinol.

MY FAVORITE SUNSCREEN: KRAVE’S THE BEET SHIELD
SPF is probably the most essential part of any skincare routine. UVA and UVB rays are very damaging to the skin and cause discoloration, signs of aging, basically everything we are trying to avoid with our skincare routines. I always apply SPF 15 minutes before I go outside, and reapply every couple hours to make sure I’m protected. I used to hate applying sunscreen, because of the strong scent, greasy wear, and white cast. Then, I discovered Krave’s The Beet Shield. This has become my absolute favorite sunscreen I have EVER used. It’s an antioxidant-rich lightweight cream that protects your skin from UV rays and free radicals. The Beet Shield sinks right into my skin, and never feels greasy or leaves a white cast. It also wears beautifully under makeup, and even over makeup to reapply throughout the day! No overpowering SPF scent here, either. It’s seriously perfect and everything I look for in a sunscreen. The formula contains beetroot extract, rich in antioxidants to prevent signs of aging, brighten, and moisturizer. It also has allantoin to soothe and calm sensitive or irritated skin. Finally, it has a power blend of antioxidants to protect the skin, like vitamin C, resveratrol, and EGCG. I recommend this product to anybody; it’s my number 1 favorite sunscreen and I will forever repurchase it. My only negative for this product is the bottle size. At 1.69 fluid ounces, this is a pretty small bottle, which is why I only apply this to my face and use another sunscreen for my body. It’s reasonable at $20 though! I stock up on this stuff. I’d love to buy this in a huge bottle to be able to use all over. 😍 Krave - The Beet Shield
