SKINCARE SUNDAY SQUAD - 17/01/2021
I’ll be posting my “reviews of the week” every Sunday, starting today, so follow me to see more 💖 This week we have a small lineup from Pixi Beauty. pixi - 24K Eye Elixir
I love almost everything about this eye serum... the roller ball helps to de-puff my eyes amazingly!! But I’ve only given this product 4 stars, because it does remain a little sticky for a while before sinking into my skin 🥺pixi - DetoxifEYE
These eye patches are one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITES!!! They help to de-puff and brighten my under eye area SO WELL!! I have absolutely NOTHING bad to say about this product 😍pixi - On-the-Glow
Unfortunately I am not a big fan of this “stick” moisturiser... I wanted to like this product, I really did. But all it does is leave me sticky and break me out 😭Join me next Sunday for more weekly reviews!! 🙌🏼
cherieCongrats on your first post! Welcome to the beginning of your beauty journey on Cherie.
Tour of what’s in my fridge
A skin care fridge is totally not a necessity but they are super fun to have. Things to consider before buying one is: does it fit in your budget, will it fit in your bathroom, what products will go in it? I got mine from Amazon where they range from $60-$150 cad but you can get them from tons of places. The way I use mine is to keep products cold for the experience (de puffing) and to extend their shelf life. Here’s a tour of what I currently keep in my skincare fridge. The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% This serum is great to keep cold as it ensures it is kept at a consistent temperature and in a dark place which helps with stability. The combination of ascorbic acid and alpha arbutin make for a great brightening and hyperpigmentation treatment. THE BODY SHOP - British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask This is a really nice hydrating and plumping face mask that gives a very spa like vibe. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I love to keep this oil cold as it increases the shelf life. This is a great hydrating oil that also helps acne and hyperpigmentation. THE BODY SHOP - Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask I love keeping this mask chilled as it helps depuff my face in the morning. This is a very nourishing mask that is also gently brightening. pixi - DetoxifEYE These are great cold as they really helps get rid of any puffiness from waking up. This pot holds 30 pairs which is great value from money. VERSED - LOOK ALIVE Hydrating Plumping Mask This is a great hydrating mask that really plumps my skin and helps when it is dehydrated. Keeping it cold makes the experience even more enjoyable. LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Mask This is a creamy sleeping mask that highlights cica which is a very soothing ingredient. Applying it cold makes the soothing power even more effective. LANEIGE - Lavender Water Sleeping Mask This is a gel mask that feels great when applied cold as it feels very soothing. The lavender scent can also be very relaxing. grace & stella - Rose quartz face roller I love doing an evening massage, it feels amazing if the tool is kept cold. It helps with lymphatic drainage and product absorption. 👜Sheet masks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love to keep all my sheet masks in the fridge as the experience of a chilled mask is very enjoyable.
Put on some eye gels and say ahhh
✨ Pixi Eye Patches! ✨ Yet another purchase due to Kathleen Jennings, my hero & savior. This is my third jar of these, and I highly recommend storing them in the fridge for bonus cooling & de-puffing. I love the way they feel on, especially after a long day of Zoom calls. I don’t know that I’ve seen major differences in my under eye appearance, but I really like how they feel to wear! I usually keep them on for at least 30min. I also put some of the extra serum on my upper eyelids for depuffing there. 60 patches (30 pairs) for $24 is a great deal, so I’ll likely continue to repurchase!
Painful Breakouts, Please Help!!!
Hi! I have been struggling with this acne on the sides of my face & my cheeks for a couple of months now. It’s quite painful & under the skin pimples, and often times leaves discolouration on my skin even when they deflate. Believe it or not, this is the best it’s looked in a while, which still isn’t good. I’m still pretty new to the world of skincare, so if anyone has any recommendations for how to deal with these stubborn breakouts that would be wonderful 😊 Here are the products i’m using now: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% pixi - On-the-Glow GARNIER - SkinActive Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream For Dry Skin Benzagel - Acne Gel 5%
Drugstore Products Perfect for My Skin Tone
Everybody wants to find an affordable product from the drugstore. The problem is, is that unlike most higher end stores, there’s no one there to color match you! This can be an issue if you’re not an expert at finding what products match your skin tone. My skin tone would be considered as Neutral-yellow, so keep that in mind! I included an unedited picture of myself for reference. The first product I have found that is perfect for my skin tone is the L'ORÉAL - Infallible Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation in the shade 460. As you can see in the swatches, it has a light yellow undertone. I included a swatch of the shade 475 (on the right) so you can see which shade is *not* for my skin tone, just in case you need some extra guidance when shopping! I love this foundation, especially in the summer because it lasts ALL day long! I have normal to oily skin, so I typically go for more long wearing foundations. However, I hate when foundations look cakey or too matte. This one doesn’t look like either of those things! The next product I have here is the MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Concealer in the shade 120 (left) This shade specifically I use for highlighting underneath my eyes and in the center of my face. The undertone is neutral-yellow and the shade is pretty light. The opposite concealer and shade that doesn’t suit my skin tone for highlighting is the COLOURPOP - No Filter Matte Concealer in the shade Medium 28 (right). This is because the undertone of this concealer is more orangey, so it’s definitely not suitable for highlighting for my skin tone. The last product I have is the pixi - On-the-Glow blush in the shade Juicy (left). I LOVE this blush so much, it’s so dewy and smooth, perfect for glowy summer looks! This shade is very warm and bright, without looking clownish on my skin. I find that warm blushes really compliment my skin tone! The opposite product I have is the e.l.f. - Monochromatic Multi Stick in the shade Glistening Peach (right). I am definitely not a fan of this product, for the simple fact that it is extremely glittery. I much before my produce to have more of a sheen than glitter because I find its much more flattering if you have any texture on your skin. I don’t like this shade either because it is much too pink and cool toned for my skin, despite the shade being named peach!
This was a great way to try a lot of caudalie a products. The eye cream is a must! Hella pricey but yah know maybe I’ll save up enough to buy it when it’s on sale during Christmas maybe. But hey hydrates my under eyes and I don’t have prominent dark circles under my eyes. The vinosorbet moisturizer Is very nice, smells good, has a interesting mousse texture I very much like and is hydrating too! The foaming cleanser is currently my favorite cleanser I bought the fuller size of it recently I love love it! Smells good too The vinoperfect serum is a cult favorite and there’d a good reason! It clears up any oncoming acne I have, helps smooth out my skin so my texture isn’t so harsh! I love this one too! And the beauty elixir is always a great refreshing spray. I love using it 5/5 recommend just great to try a large range of products

✨Retinol Glow✨ PM Routine
This is my ultra moisturizing 💧 retinol night routine. All the results of a gentle retinol PLUS a super hydrating sleep mask glow. ✨ PAULA'S CHOICE - Hyaluronic Acid Booster I’m a total fangirl for Paula’s Choice and love 99% of their products. This one just doesn’t give me enough results to repurchase. Any HA serum suggestions? 🙋🏼♀️ Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Cream I’m in love with this perfect moisturizer. It’s perfect for any skin type and gives my skin a balanced moisturized feeling plus a noticeable bounce and firmness with every use. A dream for combo skin. Kiehl's - Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado this is a thick luscious eye cream with a slight green tint that helps with my dark circles! It absorbs nicely, doesn’t creep into my eyes and reallyyyy helps with the fine lines around my eyes. It has the same plumping, bounce factor as the face cream. A staple for am and Pm routines. GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Face Mask I really love this mask but if you have oily or acne-prone skin, proceed with caution. I would say it’s worth a try because the results are great. Since I have combo skin and a long history of breakouts, I only use this once a week and it won’t break me out. It’s got a rich, buttery texture that melts into a cream, which is why it’s too rich for daily use for me. But when i use it weekly, I wake up with skin so glowy and plump and hydrated, and it almost has this blurring effect on my pores. Which I love because I normally have misbehaving pores. Bottom line: it’s the dreamiest retinol treatment I’ve used, and it’s a perfect retinol choice for dry skin. GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Face MaskI’m trying this for the first time tonight! I’ll update you with my results! In the future I want to add a ceramide product to this routine to really boost the skin barrier effects and glow factor. ❓Any suggestions you love?!

Affordable&Amazing! Pixi Saved My Skin!!!😘😘😘
Sudden changes in the environment and irregular wore and rest are most likely to cause skin problems. I have been looking for a set of products that can help reduce dullness and breakouts and keep my skin in the best condition. Finally I found Pixi, which products are really suitable for dry skin. I would def recommend it to you if calm and radiant skin that glows sans layers of highlighters is at the top of your agenda. pixi - Glow Tonic It features 5% glycolic acid which exfoliates and brightens skin, and is paired with ginseng which acts as an anti-oxidant, and finally aloe vera as well as other natural plant extracts which soothe and moisturize skin. People with dry skin may feel a warming sensation when trying it for the first few times, but as a 5% concentration glycolic acid product, it's considered quite gentle. I normally use it for double cleansing. It has a light and fresh plant scent with refreshing texture. It's also very moisturizing, credited to its aloe vera and fructose ingredients. It doesn't leave your skin tightened, allowing easy follow-up application of serum and cream. You can consider this tonic if you're looking to exfoliate and rejuvenate your skin as well as reduce bumps in a short period of time while taking into account your skin tolerance. You must wear sunscreen during the day when you're using fruit acid skincare products. pixi - DetoxifEYE The ingredients include caffeine that reduces swelling and acts as an anti-oxidant, and cucumber that moisturizes and soothes the skin. There are 30 pairs of eye patches in a box for daily use. They look like jelly and have a green, gel-like texture which is gentle and not irritating. They're cooling when applied under the eyes and stick snuggly to the skin. A 10-minute application is enough to see great results, such as instantly reducing puffy eyes and brightening dull skin. pixi - Hydrating Milky Mist Its featured ingredients include hyaluronic acid for hydration, oatmeal extract, and vitamin B complex for calming and soothing skin. It focuses on moisturizing and soothing, and it's not at all second to La Mer. The amount of delicate mist sprayed is enough for the entire face, and the mist won't leave you with sticky skin. It also provides instant moisturizing, and I usually use it before applying my eye mask, instead of using a moisturizer. It doesn't leave my skin feeling tightened or dry. Besides, the bottle is convenient to carry around. I will repurchase all of these Pixi skincare products. What do you think of either products? Let me know!!!👇
In terms of texture there are so many varieties when it comes to skincare, I mean the possibilities are endless! We have light masks, moisturizers, rich and thick masks or we have watery type ones. The point is they all look beautifully different serve their own purpose to help our skin look fab! farmacybeauty Honey Potion 🐝 🍯 is the most rich and decadent mask to not only slather on but photograph, I mean look at it. glowrecipe 🍉 Sleeping Mask ‘s texture is lightly soft & delicate. bliss Mint Chocolate 🍫 Chip Mask is thick and full of exfoliating cocoa chips that give it its grit. laneige Lip Mask is a 👄 thick and luxurious balm that keeps your lips Uber soft. pixibeauty Rose 🥀 Caviar Essence is a very light moistizeor visibly full of fresh botanicals & flower oils providing hydration. farmacybeauty Honey Drop 🍯 is a hydrating lightweight & soft moisturizer perfect for the day.
Here are my thoughts of some stuff from Herbal Dynamics Beauty 〰️ Vitamin K & green tea brightening eye cream This is a lovely eye cream and I enjoyed using it. This goes on really nice, absorbs quickly but I haven’t seen any drastic brightening effects yet. 〰️ Black rose & damask rose concentrated face balm This contains key ingredients like damask rose oil + wax, black rose extract and shea butter but I’ll be honest - I didn’t particularly enjoy this for my face. I felt like this didn’t fully absorb in and it just kinda sat on top of my skin. However, I have been using this on any dry areas on my neck and my body and I do feel like it deeply hydrates and heals any dry patches I have since I do suffer from eczema. 〰️ Cacao & chamomile clearing clay mask Oh my goodness, this smells straight up like chocolate goodness every time I open the tub and I just wanna eat it! Application for this is really nice - spreads easily, dries down pretty quickly and rinses off well. This mask has made my skin smoother and my pores look so clean after I rinse this off. The only con to this though is that the sulfur in this really stings my eyes so I have to be mindful to really avoid my whole eye area quite a bit.

My Deep Cleanse Routine
I wanted a deep cleanse tonight: Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser - This is deep pore cleansing and glow revealing with an added 5% glycolic acid. Pixi Glow Mud Mask- To purify and draw out impurities. This can also be used as a spot treatment. Mario Badescu Orange blossom and Aloe facial spray- Spritz of this to prep my face for application of serum. This smells so lovely and is so refreshing in this heat... I've been using it all day to cool me down. The Ordinary -Buffet- A multi peptide complex serum with Hyaluronic acid for hydration and anti-ageing benefits. This serums helps to improve the look of static wrinkles in the skin and increase skin firmness. Weleda Skin food- I only dab this on areas that tend to get dry and where i have wrinkles forming. Herbivo Rebotanicals Phoenix facial oil- finishing off with this super nourishing and hydrating oil, it contains co enzyme Q-10 which is fab for increasing collagen production and improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I just wished it smelt better as I really don't like the smell of it 🤦🏼♀️but I suppose there's no added fragrance so I can't complain too much.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
