Vitamin C Recommendations 🍊
I have learnt a lot over the past few months since joining cherie and am taking my skin more seriously now that I’m 30. I learnt my skin barrier had seriously been compromised, and I may actually not be as sensitive as I thought. I learnt that my skin most likely isn’t dry but actually dehydrated!! What a learning curve that was! Always, ALWAYS, research the best way to use products before using them. Search the product you are interested in on this app and go through the reviews and see what has worked and what hasn’t. Saves you a lot of trial and error! And disappointment! Always start slow with a new product! Go once a week for two weeks and then build up by adding one more day each week. This helps your skin adjust and figure out what works for you. If you flick through the photos above, you will see before and after photos of both sides of my face. Although it looks better, I still have a fair way to go. My routine as of October 13, 2020: MORNING I don’t use a cleanser to wash my face, I wash with water and then follow with The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I apply this directly to my wet face after rinsing it. I continue massaging until I feel my skin is getting dry but still slightly damp. While my face is still slightly damp I apply SEPHORA COLLECTION - Brightening Eye Cream – Hydrate & Depuff and The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and then wait about 5 minutes before applying PAULA'S CHOICE - Calm Mineral Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 NIGHT I have, in the last week, jumped back onto the double cleanse bandwagon as it is getting warmer in the Southern Hemisphere now and I tend to get hot and sweaty-ish (especially when running around after a toddler all day). I use The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser massage this is for a few minutes, when I feel it start to loosen up I add in water and rinse it off. If my skin is feeling particularly dehydrated I skip the first cleanse and go straight to CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin Again, I leave my face wet and massage in The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 while my skin is still slightly damp I put on SEPHORA COLLECTION - Brightening Eye Cream – Hydrate & Depuff and PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster This has really helped calm down my irritated skin and helped smooth out some bumps. I then pat on about 6 drops of The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane and after 5 minutes apply The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA I am looking to add in a vitamin c product. I might be slightly sensitive to vitamin c, so please recommend products that are low in concentration and good for sensitive skin 😘😘

Just as it is important to hydrate and treat your face and body, the same goes for your lips. I suffered from dry peeling lips for so long, that often cracked/blistered in the corners. Which led me to using lip scrubs, which temporarily helped. The day of use and the day after my lips would be nice and soft and then straight back to dry and peeling. I have finally found 4 products that have changed my life! Each night after my face routine is complete (make sure to wash your hands before touching your lips!) I use a drop of fresh - Sugar Wonder Drops Lip Primer on my lips. One drop is all you need! Its more than enough to use all over. It helps make your lips soft and smooth. A great base for lipsticks also! I then alternate between fresh - Sugar Hydrating Lip Balm, Watermelon (mine is coconut) and LANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask which helps lock in hydration overnight. I wake up with the softest lips! Because I have been doing this for about a month now, I am finding I don’t need to use lip balm during the day (or constantly reapplying it). However, since it is part of my morning routine, as my last step I use fresh - Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15 this leaves a nice rosy tint, giving a bit of colour to the lips. And is great for keeping lips hydrated throughout the day. Again, I rarely have to reapply, and because of “mum brain” if I forget to use this I don’t notice as my lips are still hydrated from my PM treatment. It also has SPF ! A great bonus. I wish I had taken before pics to compare with how my lips look now. I have been blister free for a month and I couldn’t be happier! I hope this helps you in your journey of luscious lips 💋

“Build Me Up Buttercup”
My skincare journey has been rough the past few years (check first post made for details but basically I have sensitive, reactive skin) and I have finally found something that works thanks to this app and all the wonderful people on here. I have done lots of reading and learning!! I am wanting to extend my routine; add an eye cream for dark circles in the AM and maybe a vitamin c - am looking at The Ordinary - Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%as I have had bad experiences with vitamin c previously and want to go slow. And maybe THE inkey LIST - Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) Gentle Exfoliating Toner I have noticed that my face doesn’t like niacinamide either. Both CeraVe AM and PM creams contain this and my skin reacted, as well as with another brand I used that contained it. Please help, any and all suggestions/helpful hints welcome 😊 This is my current routine. I have reviewed these products in previous posts. AM CLEANSE: Water SERUM: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 makes the skin feel so soft and supple. A great base! EYE CREAM: SEPHORA COLLECTION - Brightening Eye Cream – Hydrate & Depuff I have come back to this after a long and painful journey with eye creams. Great for hydration and fine lines but would still like an eye cream to use in the AM that helps with dark circles. MOISTURISE: The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA have just recently started using this as my DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream is finished. Loving it so far. Not as heavy as the DE cream but perfect for going into the warmer months ahead. SUNSCREEN: PAULA'S CHOICE - Calm Mineral Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 this has really helped with reducing the redness i get on my cheeks. PM CLEANSE: CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin feels so great and leaves the skin feeling hydrated well after use! Previous cleansers always left me feeling tight immediately after use. I can now wash my face at the beginning of a shower and it stays hydrated till I get out (although I still prefer as my last step) EYE CREAM: SEPHORA COLLECTION - Brightening Eye Cream – Hydrate & Depuff MOISTURISE: The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA SEAL THE DEAL: The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane I was using this before the DE cream and have recently learned that it is meant to go last to seal everything in. I use about 4-5 drops and pat it across my face. Twice a week (Sun & Wed), after the eye cream, I use The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 and then PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster I am finding that it has helped reduce the redness across my cheeks. It has only been 2 weeks of using this so too early to review this product.

Double Cleansing Not Worth It (for me)
Before you say anything ... Yes, I know we don’t all have the same skin and our tolerance levels are different. Yes, I gave it a good go with different products. Yes, I gave in to the hype. A bit of background into my skin, I have recently become very sensitive, eczema prone, and reactive skin. Thanks to pregnancy my skin did a complete turn around and became the opposite of what it was. I never once worried about my skin other than the blackheads across my nose. It’s taken me a long time since giving birth to my beautiful son to finally (kind of) find products that don’t make me itchy or feel tight and gross. I’m a SAHM who barely wears make up. Ever since I picked up the book about Korean skincare routine I was interested in double cleansing. And then, as if I had a spy in my phone, it was all I saw all over Facebook, Instagram, and every other app I am on. I read never ending articles about the benefits. But not once did I see anything about the down sides. NOT ONE! And thus begins my double cleansing journey. And what did I find? My skin became dehydrated, more reactive and my eyes became puffy, itchy and flakey!! At first I thought it was the products I was using. So I went back to basics. Cleanse, moisturise, protect. And then added in the “treat” step. And then double cleansing again. Just in the PM as I cleanse with just water in the AM. Day 1 was great, day 2 wasn’t great and day 3 I was back to a puffy face that I couldn’t stop rubbing at! Not even a cool towel to the face helped. Now don’t get me wrong, I know there is a time and place for double cleansing, for instance if I were to wear make up, of course I would double cleanse. However, it just cannot be an every day occurrence for me. It has the complete opposite impact on my skin. This is just one hype that I don’t understand. Am I doing it wrong? Am I alone in this thought? Update (3rd October, 2020): found this on Instagram if anyone wants to read through on double cleansing https://www.instagram.com/p/CFmbXFKHMhN/?igshid=nrccow62iejg
Week 3 of Barrier Repair
Week 3 Routine This week has been a bit bizarre, a few things happened 1) The season has changed from winter to spring 2) I got my period 3) I over-indulged in home baking/chocolate 4) I added PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum to my routine Now you’re probably thinking so what? Well my skin has been a bit reactive this week. My eyes are puffy/cheekbones have been itchy and my skin looks tight under my eyes near my nose. I have been outside more (my toddler loves the outdoors and I would rather he outside than inside getting cabin fever, it was a wet winter which meant he didn’t get a lot of outside time), the air is still a bit nippy, so it could be that. I have noticed my skin gets drier around and during my period, so it could be that. I think I may be slightly allergic to too much baking/chocolate so it could be that. And I added something new, so it could be that. Ugh the dilemma!! Will go back to basics (week 2) and try the Omega+ again once all is calm. AM CLEANSE: washed face with water TREATMENT: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 EYE CREAM: CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream this has definitely been underwhelming!! Will continue to use till it is finished but on the look out for a new eye cream. MOISTURISER: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream cannot praise this product enough! See week 2’s post. SUNSCREEN: PAULA'S CHOICE - Calm Mineral Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 I get a slight white cast for about 5mins, but has been amazing at helping calm my skin and reduce the appearance of red dots on my face! Is definitely a must for these trying times with my skin! PM PRE-CLEANSE: GARNIER - Micellar Milk Cleansing Water I usually use a cotton pad to wipe this across my face and then hop in the shower. This week I have been finding that as I get in the shower and give myself a quick rinse all over, that my face feels a little tingly on the cheek bones, am not sure if it is this or all the changes this week. CLEANSE: CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin TREATMENT: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 followed by PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum I am very up in the air about this product. Anyone else that has used this please help me out here. I woke up the next morning with puffy red and itchy eye lids/cheek bones. I used this Friday night, not all weekend and then again lastnight (Tuesday) and again puffy eyes but not itchy. Will stop using this for a week and try again later when my skin has settled. EYE CREAM: CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream MOISTURISER: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream

Week 2 of Barrier Repair
After doing some more research I changed my routine to the following in Week 2: AM CLEANSE: washed face with water TREATMENT: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 MOISTURISER: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream EYE CREAM: CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream SUNSCREEN: PAULA'S CHOICE - Calm Mineral Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 PM PRE-CLEANSE: GARNIER - Micellar Milk Cleansing Water for dry and sensitive skin, this has been amazing and so gentle on my skin CLEANSE: CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin this is a nice gentle cleanser, as of yet I am not sure of the long term benefits but it doesn’t leave my skin dry/tight after washing. Will continue to see how it goes. TREATMENT: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 this definitely leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated after use. But unsure if hydrating enough. EYE CREAM: CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream still haven’t seen any improvements with this. MOISTURISER: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream as soon as I started using this my skin improved dramatically over night, I no longer had red rashy-looking bumps on my upper cheek. Even my husband noticed and complimented how my skin looked in the morning after just one use !! So this is a winner. Although, I am thinking as I get closer to summer I will go back to The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA as I tend to get oily in the tzone and it is lighter than the DE moisturiser. Please tell me what you think of my routine. I am also looking at adding a chemical exfoliator, as I have deep black heads and visible pores across my cheeks and nose. And I get hormonal acne along my jawline. Suggestions on where to take my routine next are welcome. We have come out of winter and going into spring. The sun is out but the air outside is still quite nippy so havent started getting oily just yet.

3 Paula Choice Skincare Routines ❄️☃️❄️
Hey guys!!! I love Paulas choice products especially the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer and PAULA'S CHOICE - 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment !! Over on their IG they posted suggested skincare routines created by their client social services consultant Allie, I wanted to repost a few today for dry and dehydrated combo skin since it's cold outside which can often lead to dry/dehydrated skin. Paulas choice is another great brand to reach out to if you have questions!!! Just pick the products in black for an essential routine and include the products labeled in white for a full advanced routine. I do want to point out that there is NO perfect skincare routine, you need to listen to your skin. If you are feeling really dry you might want to add a heavier ceramide moisturizer or if your skin is starting to feel irritated back off on your exfoliation. Use these suggestions as a way to get started but still adjust or take away products by how your skin feels. Do you wish more companies would post suggested skincare routines based on skin type?? #cheriecreator

Do You Have Blackheads or Sebaceous Filaments?
I’ve seen a lot of post where people confuse the two. Sebaceous Filaments: What are they? Your skin does a lot of things that many people don’t know. One of them is oil control and keeping the skin balanced. Sebum is a natural oil that keeps your skin naturally moisturized. They are NORMAL. Annoying, but normal. Have your ever squeezed your nose and seen white or tinted yellow substance come out? That’s stuff is collected sebum and dead skin cells that has cooped up in your pores. You can treat this with a pore strip or getting them professionally extracted. 9/10 they will come back, unless you get your oil secretions under control. I recommend a chemical peel or salicylic acid. Also adding a great double cleansing routine will help tremendously! Blackheads What are they ? They are a form of acne. Better yet known as an open comedone. Blackheads can be caused by various factors: environment, oil, diet, hormones. And even medications. These contain bacteria which has clogged up your pores. Blackheads should be treated professionally or with a retinoid (most effective). DO NOT PICK AT HOME. Easy AM-PM Routine for you 🧴⭐️🔑
☀️ AM ☀️ 1️⃣ Cleanser : 🔑Start your hydrating skin-care routine off right with this any Face wash. It’s a non-foaming, gentle cleanser packed with ingredients like glycerin and orange oil. It’s a great option for anyone with dry and sensitive skin. 2️⃣Toner : 🔑 You should use your toner only and only after you have thoroughly cleansed your skin. Take 2-3 drops of a toner on a cotton pad and wipe it on your face. Make sure that the cotton pad does not absorb too much of the liquid and is able to transfer it to your skin. 3️⃣Antioxident Serum : 🔑 Using an antioxidant serum every morning can protect your skin from the environmental attack and slow down the process of aging. You should slather on a few drops of a good antioxidant serum right after cleaning your face and before applying moisturizer and sunscreen. 4️⃣ Eye Balm /Cream : 🔑 Use only a small amount. "When you yawn, it will push it up by the tears and when you rub your eyes it will press it in by your fingers. Make sure you leave a clear area around the eyes when applying cream and only apply to the bone area."THE inkey LIST - Caffeine Eye Cream 5️⃣ Acne treatment: 🔑 it’s up to you that you want to use acne treatment at morning or no but if you have bad acne problem you can use acne cream or gel for your cure. 6️⃣ Moisturizer: 🔑There is no such thing as skin that is too hydrated, and your sunscreen should not be the stand-in for moisturizer. These two products serve vastly different purposes and are not interchangeable, no matter how moisturizing your sunscreen claims to be. 7️⃣ sunscreen: 🔑 Daily sun protection is as important as drinking water and paying your parking tickets on time, so there are zero excuses for not doing it. Use after moisture your face . 8️⃣ Makeup : 🔑 if your like makeup by profession you can do makeup after your skincare routine but I just prefer myself without makeup .HUDA BEAUTY - The New Nude Eyeshadow Palette 🌙PM🌓 1️⃣: Makeup remover : Apply an oil-based makeup remover to dry skin and massage gently until the product melts into a liquid form.GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Waterproof Makeup Remover 2️⃣Cleanser : 🔑 No matter how dry your skin, gentle cleansing at night is essential. Makeup, sunscreen, bacteria, dead skin cells, dirt, and oil build up on your face during the day. They can work their way into your pores, causing inflammation. Wash gently without scrubbing to avoid irritating your skin. acne.org - Acne.org Cleanser YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Cleanser Refill 3️⃣:Toner 🔑 Place toner onto a cotton ball or the tips of your fingers and massage into your face, neck and décolletage in circular motion. Humphrey's - Humphrey's Witch Hazel Facial Toner 4️⃣ Serum / Treatment: 🔑 Sleeping serums offer everything you need to give your skin eight hours of rejuvenation. Massage into your face, neck and décolletage. ESTĒE LAUDER - The Night Is Yours Repair Serum + Eye Creme 5️⃣Acne treatment:🔑 use your favorite cream or gel for your acne treatment . #Rugby - Acne medication 5[products]#[FourStars] 6️⃣Moisture / Night cream : 🔑 Put a dot of product on your forehead, nose, chin and each cheek . Once the dots are on, simply massage your night cream into your skin in an upward and outwards motion. Once all of the product has been massaged into your skin. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration 7️⃣ Lip mask : 🔑 Most lip masks recommend exfoliating your lips first, especially if your lips are a bit shaggy with dry skin. You can use a lip scrub, or you can simply rub a wet washcloth over them to help remove dead skin. Dry your lips. Before applying the lip mask, your lips need to be dry.LANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask
Clear Hormonal Acne iin 2-3 weeks ! (Routine) ✨l
So I’ve done a lot of post about acne and skin, so I thought it was time to show my results ✨ This is a no filtered photo of my acne progress. Hormonal acne? So acne is crazy unpredictable, but there is usually an identifiable trigger each time (Fungal, Allergic Reaction, Overproduction of oil, etc). Hormonal acne is usually identifiable by bumps on chin, cheek, jaw line, and sometimes even forehead. The numbers This effects teens the most! 80% of teen acne is hormonal related. Why? Puberty of course! 55% of adults (50% of women) suffer from hormonal acne! Why? For women, we still are having our periods and now we’re in our “baby making years” (my acne is postpartum for reference). How to treat it! Oil control: high level of hormones can produce excess oil Cleanse daily Acne topical treatment: salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, retinoids My routine(I have combo/more oily skin) I TREAT MY ACNE AT NIGHT (focus on hyperpigmentation during my daytime routine) Cleanse: CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser I use this majority of my nights! It’s very gentle and hydrating without being overbearing CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin I use this 3 times a week! (Monday, Thursday, Saturday) it’s not strong at all ! It does dry my skin out slightly so I follow with my Toner & hyaluronic acid serum! Tone: PAULA'S CHOICE - Enriched Calming Toner this toner is AMAZING! It’s marketed for dry skin but honestly my combo/oily skin loves it. I use this every night no matter what ! Serums The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I use this when my skin is dry from the SA cleanser The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% great for treating acne & oily skin. I use this every night and let it work in for 5 mins. Treatment DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel I use this as my treatment of choice. It took about a full month and a half before I saw difference (from purging and retinization) BURT’S BEES - Natural Acne Solutions Maximum Strength Spot Treatment Cream I ONLY use this when I need to get rid of a terrible spot. I DO NOT USE this with Differin gel. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I use this once a week only ! Do not use with Differin gel or Salicylic acid treatment! Moisturizer CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion Favorite moisturizer! I use this majority of my nights Cliganic - 100% Rosehip Oil I use this with my moisturizer! Great for acne control I also love to drink green tea with turmeric.

Review My Routine
Hi!! Here is the morning routine I used today 😌 My skin type is normal thanks to consistency with products. Step 1: I cleansed my face and neck with the Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel I love it because it’s soap-free, oil-free, paraben-free, non-comedogenic, & hypoallergenic. Because it contains hyaluronic acid — which I’m obsessed with — it leaves my skin feeling so fresh, clean, and hydrated. This cleanser is a light-weight gel. The tiniest amount lathers beautifully to remove dirt, oil, makeup, etc. This cleanser really does make my skin feel hydrated. No tightness or dryness after using this. Step 2: I spritzed my face and neck with NIOD - Superoxide Dismutase Saccharide Mist This is a mouthful, I know. It’s also referred to as SDSM. It’s essentially a face mist that prevents against damaging environmental effects & improves your skin’s hydration. It also aids with fine lines, discolouration, & dullness. Think toner but MORE amazing & beneficial. I love using this in the AM because it instantly leaves my skin feeling so refreshed and hydrated. This is best applied after cleansing and before other treatments. Step 3: While my skin was still damp from the NIOD mist, I applied the The Ordinary - Marine Hyaluronics I love HA so much and when I read about this in one of @Mallory‘s posts I had to try it. Only having used it twice (this morning and tonight) I’m already obsessed! It’s more watery than The Ordinary’s HA + B5 but works in the same way by attracting and holding water and therefore hydrating your skin. The marine hyaluronics are lighter than HA and has a lower viscosity. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling tacky. It makes your skin feel hydrated & lovely. Step 5: I adore vitamin C and having glowy skin, and the REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Glow Daily Vitamin C Gel Cream is the perfect product for that. While I do love other vitamin C products, I love how quick and easy this is to apply. This is a gel cream and I generally apply 1 pump to my finger tips and apply it onto my face and neck. This leaves your skin looking radiant & bright. Not only is it super hydrating, it also neutralizes pollutants. I love how is absorbs into my skin, making it feel soft & hydrated. Step 6: Next I apply the BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream I am obsessed with this eye cream. I find it blends nicely, makes my under-eyes feel hydrated, and smoothes out my skin which makes the application of my concealer look so nice. Step 7: I use my favourite moisturizer,Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream on my face and neck. It makes my skin feel so hydrated and soft :) Step 8: Lastly, sunscreen: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50 This is amazing! No white cast and leaves a lovely glow :) ❤️🤍 -Stacy
