Lightweight or heavyweight champ?

“A strengthening, lightweight, silicone-free hair oil fortified with refreshing ceramides and clinically proven to repair 88% of damage after two uses {clinical results from testing 50 hair fibers, not 50 different participants} providing a smooth, glossy, and frizz-free finish” performance | .5 star | even though lightweight, it was too much for my thin hair and weighed it down to where I couldn’t get as long in between washes. Really do notice a difference with my ends though, only can use four drops texture | full star | non greasy, does actually feel lightweight scent | full star | tbh the fragrance is so subtle, I looove it! packaging | .25 star | ugh, idk why they went this route with the bottle, wasn’t a fan of olaplex bottle like this either, but since this oil is a tad thicker you really got jerk that sucker to get anything out. Really only giving the packaging a star because the lil roses inside are cute af ingredients | .5 star | less than 1% added fragrance as last ingredient, but like that almost all are naturally sourced value | .5 star | $30 for hair oil is a little in the higher side, plus with the packaging not being the most user friendly that makes it less appealing imo Total 3.75 out of 6 stars

mikachuGood to know! I also have fine/thin hair and have to keep in mind if products will be too heavy for my hair :(

Briogeo Hit and Miss
I love Briogeo a lot, but sometimes even the brands you love fall short somewhere. Briogeo is a Black-woman owned brand & they make haircare for all hair types! That’s one of their biggest missions, to provide haircare for people will all styles and textures. You can find them at Sephora! Today I’ll be talking about their Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair! Strength + Moisture Leave-in Mask and the new-ish Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair! Strengthening Treatment Hair Oil ! These products are from the same line, Don’t Despair, Repair! which focuses on strengthening and repairing damaged hair. My hair type: + short, pixie cut - mostly straight and a little damaged at the ends, lacks hydration some days and grows so fast. The Hit: Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair! Strengthening Treatment Hair Oil + I have used two hair oils in the past, the verb ghost oil and the ouai rose oil, and I think this falls somewhere in the middle on texture! It’s not too runny (like the ouai) and it’s not too thick (like the verb) + smells nice, a bit like rose, but not overwhelming at all. The smell fades pretty fast, too, so you’re not smelling rose all day. + I use this mostly on the ends of my hair, and even less these days since I have a pixie now. I just take a few drops in my hands and rub them together with my fingers and then lightly comb through the ends of my hair with my fingers and gently pat into damaged spots. You really do not need a lot of product to make it all over your head. + overall, this works really well; my hair is always healthier looking when using this and even if it doesn’t work, it smooths my frizz and flyaways ALL DAY. + has ceramides, macadamia nut, and rose flower oil as its key ingredients. + product is hard to get out of the bottle but that’s my only downside to this. + $30 for 1oz The Miss: Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair! Strength + Moisture Leave-in Mask + I use this leave in conditioner/mask about twice a week, and I’m not sure it’s doing anything? I’ve only been using it for two weeks though, so maybe I need to use it more to see a better difference in my hair. + it comes out in a spray bottle which I love, all leave-ins should def be this way! + after my shower and while my hair is still damp, I’ll spray a little in my hair (not my roots) and massage it in with my hands, making sure I can spread the product around evenly. + smells pretty innocuous, not much scent profile which is fine by me - I don’t like when my hair care has to compete with my fragrances. + formulated with b vitamins, argan oil, algae, and biotin. + $28 for 4oz, which I think is a great price. + I much prefer the aquis leave in!

Luckily I did not pay for either of these products (chosen as my Sephora birthday gift)!!! I had heard so many good things and was quite excited to just be disappointed. Do only people with thin hair buy high end hair products?!? Because these WERE NOT made for ya girl’s thick hair. The charcoal scalp scrub was minty feeling but did no actual exfoliating by the time I got it to my scalp. I even sectioned my hair and applied it directly to the scalp and nothing. And the conditioner is so thin I just used it as a leave in conditioner and honestly it hasn’t done anything more than my usual cheap garnier leave in conditioner. And the prices are RIDICULOUS you guys. I expected hair miracles at $42/8 oz for the charcoal and $36/8 oz for the conditioner. I’m not a fan of making scathing reviews but you need to know when it’s snake oil peeps. Put that expensive ass tub down (yeah it comes in a tub that you definitely will get water in while you shower) and find some budget brands that work wonders!!! Now let’s get into the key ingredients.. ✨Ceramides - Replenish phospholipids that strengthen and reinforce the hair ✨Macadamia Nut Derivative - A silicon-free alternative that provides a silky texture, increase shine and mimic our hairs lipid content ✨Rose Flower Oil - Antioxidant rich emollient that’s rich in minerals and vitamins • • Is this something you want to pick up? ⁣Scalp Revival 236ml | CA$54 – I’m seriously obsessed with this charcoal exfoliating scrub. This has greatly helped with controlling my oily scalp and occasional dandruff. The micro-exfoliators eliminate sebum buildup and reduce itching. I love the cooling effect on my scalp from the mints and it smells absolutely amazingg. My head feels super clean and refreshed everytime I use this. I highly recommend for those who struggle with scalp issues!⁣ ⁣ Don't Despair, Repair 237ml | CA$46 – this is a weekly treatment mask to strengthen hair and restore hydration. I use this deep conditioning mask after the charcoal shampoo to bring moisture back to my hair. The two together make the best combo! 👏🏼 It always leaves my hair soo soft, shiny, and bouncyy. It also helps with detangling which makes brushing a lot easier! ⁣ Farewell Frizz 118ml | CA$30 – fact: I never really used heat protection on my hair because the products I used before made my hair so oily. But after using this one, I can’t go back to that life!! The smooth consistency of this cream makes it super easy to work through my hair. Best of all, it doesn’t make my hair greasy and it controls frizz! The smell is also really nice which is an added bonus 😌

LG Birds Nest Premium Haircare  I love this shampoo. It lathers well and my scalp feels refreshing after using it. It doesn't make the tips of my hair dry either. After using this shampoo, I don't rely on hair mask that much anymore. I will consider repurchasing this product.😉 Mane’n Tail shampoo & conditioner Mane‘n Tail - Original ShampooMane‘n Tail - Original Conditioner This is not an oil control shampoo, and the conditioner is not nourishing.  I will not repurchase this product.👎 Sachajuan Hair Repair SACHAJUAN - SACHAJUAN Hair Repair It's not bad. It was absorbed as soon as I applied it, but it couldn't moisturize the tips of my hair. I don't think it's worth the price. 🤔 I will not repurchase this product. Briogeo Don’t despair, repair! Deep conditioning mask Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask The price for this is almost the same as Sachajuans', but it's obviously inferior judging from how it felt when using it and the results. It has a thin consistency and requires a large amount every time. It's also not moisturizing enough. It's fine when used with the moisturizer from the same brand, but if it's used with a stronger shampoo, then the tips of your hair will likely be very dry. I will not repurchase this product. 🤔

Favorite Hair Oil
Favorite Hair Oil
My favorite hair oil! This oil is a serum feeling texture rather than a straight oil. It adds hydration back into my hair and with consistent use, I think this has helped strengthen my hair in some way! It has tons of hair benefits (as all It’s a 10 products): 1. reduces frizz 2. adds insane shine!!!! a big one for me. i like a sleek hair look 3. protects hair color (another big plus for me) 4. protects against heat damage 5. heal hair strands (due to keratin proteins) 6. blocks heat & humidity 7. protects against UV damage It is suggested to use prior to styling! I highly recommend this product, it is something that I use every other day. I wash my hair twice a week, but I keep up with this to ensure my hair is still getting hydration and looking shiny. It is $25 for 3oz, which is 100% worth it! Love this product. 👏🏻 it's a 10 haircare - Leave-in Conditioner Plus Keratin

THOUGHTS ON OLAPLEX SHAMPOO
THOUGHTS ON OLAPLEX SHAMPOO
OLAPLEX - No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo I’ve been using this product for a year and a half or so. Here are my thoughts on this product: OVERALL OPINION: I have very dark thick curly hair. I got it highlighted a lighter honey blonde color about 6 years ago, and my hair texture has never been the same. It became very course, had so much breakage, and had lost its overall shine. It did not look healthy or feel healthy & I’ve tried so many different shampoos & treatments to try to address all my problems: Paul Mitchell, OGX, Redken, and a few others. Nothing helped. After hearing so many good things about Olaplex as a brand, I decided to try it out for myself. Best hair decision I’ve ever made. I no longer have any breakage [or at least no where near what I had before]. My hair feels and looks healthy. I’m very happy to have discovered this product. USE: I use this every time I wash my hair [about once a week]. It does lather a bit, and a little goes a long way. SCIENCE: Olaplex products contain a compound called bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate, which is meant to reconnect disulfide sulfur bonds in the hair. Disulfide bonds are basically two sulfur atoms that link two proteins together. This link determines your hair’s shape & strength,& when that link is damaged with coloring or bleaching, you experience breakage, dullness, etc. This is why Olaplex is marketed as a brand for people with damaged hair due to coloring treatments! The compound mentioned above helps form artificial bonds between the sulfur atoms in your hair, creating an artificial bridge that allows the hair to repair itself through the new disulfide link that is formed. So, this ingredient is what makes Olaplex a brand that is known for bond maintainence & restoration. VALUE: $28 at Sephora for the full size. I’ve spent so much money trying out other [cheaper] brands that didn’t do anything for me. This does all that I need it to & more, so I’m willing to spend that $28. Also, each bottle lasts me about 5 months [washing once a week] so I get a reasonable amount of product for what I’m paying for. I can’t wait to try out more products from this brand, but for now this shampoo satisfies all my hair needs!
