Products for acne prone skin!

🌻My skin type/concerns- I have very dry skin in the winter and a normal skin type during the summer! Occasionally I will get bad acne throughout the year, I also have bad redness and hyperpigmentation, and pores! 🌻this review is for products I have tried to reduce my acne! ✅worked ❌didn’t work 🌻Product list: ✅Murad acne cleanser- I discovered this cleanser about 8 months ago and fell in love! I love using this cleanser in the morning and night because it does a great job at clearing my acne and getting rid of my hyperpigmentation! it is amazing at reducing the acne I get on my skin! I see a huge difference from before and after I use this! It’s amazing ingredients is everything that helps with my acne! ✅drunk elephant c firma serum- I discovered this serum from a friend recommending this to me after trying it and telling me how much it helped clear her acne prone skin ! I have been using this for about 6 months! I always use this at night and morning because I know when I wake up my acne looks super reduced and my skin is very soothed for when I start the day! I always use this first in my skin care routine! The amazing ingredients help so much with my acne! ✅Kate Somerville exfoliating treatment- I saw this all over social media when it came out, and when I saw some reviews for it I knew it would be perfect for my skin and I immediately bought it! I have been using this for about 6 months! I also only use this at night and whenever I use it before bed I see the biggest difference in my acne when I wake up! I use this right after I cleanse my face! The very thick consistency of this is super helpful before going to bed because I know I will wake up with super moisturized skin and my acne will be gone! ❌indie lee cleanser- I found this cleanser from a family member recommending it to me, and saying how much it helped with her acne! I saw the pricy price tag but I still went for it! I used it for a couple months of the summer, and it was perfect for my summer skin type! This has not really helped my acne, it is a great product for my dry skin, but it did not help my acne! I saw no difference when I used this at night and when I would wake up nothing changed! I used this right before using toner!Murad - Clarifying Cleanser

Favourite acne scarring fading products?
2 years ago I had successes with COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% to fade mild acne scarring. More recently this year I had a bad breakout (see my profile for pictures) which left me with a lot of scarring, more than I’ve ever had in my life 🥺 so now I’m looking for something a bit stronger. I have tried PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster before my breakout, but I believe this was one of the causes of my breakouts so I’m hesitant to try this again, at least until my skin barrier is fuller recovered. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% works well with my skin but I feel results are slow. Maybe I’m impatient 😅 I have not tried Melano CC Intensive Anti-Spot Treatment Essence, DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serumor SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil yet due to the nature and stability of vitamin C, I’d like to try 1 product at a time. Have you tried these products? Let me know what results you’ve gotten with these products! Or feel free to share any products not listed here that worked for your skin!

the ONE thing that my dermatologist says...
... it to go to a dermatologist if you have skin problems! and BE PATIENT. ✨ A licensed professional like a dermatologist, esthetician, or aesthetician is the best person to go to if you’re stuggling with acne or skin problems. Don’t trust every brand that touts clear skin products, particularly Clean and Clear and St. Ives. boo them. ✨ Me? I am oily and acne prone, and used to have a ton of nodules and deep set blemishes. It has taken years to get to the skin i have now. i learned the hard way not to scrub and dry out my skin. ✨ the product in my picture is Adapalene 0.3% which is prescription only. You can buy a weaker version called DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel that does the same thing. Adapalene is a type of retinoid that encourages skin cell turnover, helping both scars and active scne. ✨ I also currently use SEPHORA COLLECTION - Clear Skin Days by Clarifying Serum Murad - Clarifying Cleanser
Please critique my skincare routine!
Disclaimer: very new to this app, not exactly sure if i’m doing this right 😂 I was hoping that a kind soul could give me some feedback on my skincare routine! I’m not sure whether or not to add or remove any of these, so any help is much appreciated! Step 1: To cleanse, I use the Murad - Clarifying Cleanser ! On days I wear makeup, I do a double cleanse adding sulfur soap since it’s much gentler on the skin. I do one cleanse in the morning, and two at night. This process sometimes does leave my skin feeling a bit dry, especially after a double cleanse, but on their own, have worked wonders for treating my pesky mask acne :) Step 2: I use the SK-II - Facial Treatment Clear Lotion Toner I dab it on a soft face towel and use it on my T zone, as well as any acne spots I have. I absolutely looove this product and have definitely seen results as described, other than my minor breakouts here and there Step 3: I use the SK-II - Facial Treatment Essence (Pitera Essence) For this, I do a couple shakes and pat all over my face. I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews about this product, and whether or not it’s just a gimmick, but since using this product, I have rarely had excessively dry or oily skin, and it has definitely evened out my skin tone, and (before covid/mask wearing) minimized pores! Step 3: (Alternate) I couldn’t find product information on here, but now and then I will use the Ambre Blends Skin Tonic. This is a local Midwest company that started as a fragrance line that I have been wearing for years! I tried the skin tonic when they first released during a time when my skin was extremely dry and flaky. It gave me soooo much hydration and the smell is absolutely amazing! However, it wasn’t so great at keeping my breakouts to a minimum, and I haven’t been able to tell which ingredients caused that. They pride themselves on natural ingredients and I included a slide of the contents of the bottle! Step 4: For under eye serum, I use L'OCCITANE - Immortelle Divine Eye Cream I have extremely dark circles, and I decided to give this a try and it definitely has reduced them a bit! It’s a very soothing and light cream, but I do wish it showed better results! I do this entire routine twice a day, and so far it has seemed to work out for me! I still go through periods of oily skin, and lately with having to wear a mask all the time, my pores have appeared a lot larger :( I also have a constant battle with maskne, but I do occasionally use acne patches ( Rael - MIRACLE PATCH ) The last slide also shows the product I use when I do an occasional face mask. I try to keep this to a minimum, at least 2-3 times a month. I’ve never had better results than the ELEMIS - Papaya Enzyme Peel !

😱Poor Air Quality Made Me Changed My Skincare Routine Followed By Dermatologist😔
First of all, I wanna say that I'm really sorry about the bad things happening recently. The apocalyptic orange skies over California and Oregon caused by recent wildfires and subsequent smog have millions of Americans worried about air quality and pollution more than ever. Though uniquely visible on the West Coast, climate change is taking effect all across the country (and the world), which means there's an urgent need to figure out how to protect skin from polluted air now. To help understand the issue, Dr. Loretta, licensed dermatologist Loretta Ciraldo, MD, FAAD, shares her suggestions. She is a clinician and brand founder who has been studying the relationship between environmental aggressors and the skin for more than 40 years. 😨Skin Problem caused by air pollution To the obvious threats to our health, air pollution can cause a slew of skin issues, from age spots and wrinkles to acne breakouts. Ahead, she educates us on the best practices for how to deal with it — because, in a time where everything feels volatile, your preventative skin-care routine is one thing you can control. 💁🏼‍♂️Preventative Skincare Routine Wash your face twice a day: This one may sound intuitive, but it's important to wash your face twice a day, every day, especially when you're in contact with polluted air. "Since pollution levels can be high indoors as well as outside, you need to wash in the morning and at night to avoid exposure," Dr. Loretta says. "With this in mind, I actually created a hydrating cleanser that features a hydrolyzed algin to absorb pollution particles that can penetrate into our pores."  👍Youth to the People's Superfood Cleanser: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant CleanserI brought this product recently and I really fall in love with this. Not only the packaging is attractive but also the ingredients is all-natural, which I feel I'm using the nature juice to wash my face. The ingredients double-down on the power of antioxidants, which simply put, help your skin cells defend against pollutants. Exfoliate regularly: Along with washing your face, a gentle exfoliating routine personalized to your skin will help you get an even deeper clean. "Exfoliation will remove pollution particles that are often lodged in the surface layer of skin, and stop them from penetrating more deeply," Dr. Loretta explains. "You can exfoliate with a glycolic acid anywhere from 1-2 times a week to every night, depending on your skin type and tolerance of exfoliating products." 👍Kate Somerville - ExfoliKate Intensive Pore Exfoliating Treatment: Kate Somerville - ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating TreatmentThis Kate Somerville formula contains chemical exfoliants, like lactic and salicylic acids, which help unclog congested acne-prone skin. I can feel it really works to make my pores less noticeable. Every time I use it, my skin feels softer, smoother, and more evenly textured. Protect the skin barrier with antioxidants: As Dr. Loretta explains, pollution damages the skin's protective lipid barrier, thereby increasing the chances that you'll break out. "The lipid barrier is what protects our skin from environmental factors, like climate shifts and increased ambient temperature caused by fires," she says. "Thus, it's important to use barrier-replacement skin products — from serum to sunscreen — that have active antioxidants to replenish skin's lipid content." 👍Sunday Riley - A+ High-Dose Retinoid Serum: SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol SerumThis product is a concentrated retinol treatment that contained a 6.5% retinol blend (5% retinoid ester, 1% liposomal-encapsulated retinol, and 0.5% blue-green algae). The yellow-tinted serum smooths fine lines, uneven texture, and tackles pore congestion. I can see the texture on my cheeks from acne scars has diminished in appearance and credit to this product! Don't forget eye cream: The same way you don't want to forget sunscreen or a face mask, don't skip your eye cream in the morning. "Thin and delicate eye skin is affected by smog and pollution more than any other area of the face," Dr. Loretta warns. "Your eye area will be exposed, even when you're wearing a mask. So, be sure to use an antioxidant eye cream — maybe one infused with peptides, which will protect your skin and fade dark circles caused by all this stress." 👍Ole Henriksen's Banana Bright Eye Crème:OLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème I love this product!  It contains vitamin C which is really helpful for my dark circles, while collagen works on firming up the undereye area. The cream has a yellow tint that helps it do its illuminating duties. If you are looking for an eye cream, try this one! Wear your face mask: Some good news: If you're living in an area with poor air quality, wearing your face covering can actually help prevent breakouts. While maskne is a separate issue, Dr. Loretta tells us that a face-covering actually acts as a shield from environmental aggressors like smog and pollution. "Wearing a face mask outdoors helps block pollution particles from penetrating into the skin," she explains, adding an important reminder: Don't pull it on and off. "If you expose your skin to pollution in the air and then put your mask back on, those pollution particles can directly penetrate the skin." (Information from refinery29.com) All products mentioned are personal recommendations. Hope you guy like it and find it works for you!🤗
My Skincare Dream Team
Right now I don't have a job, and I don't have a steady income, so all my skincare gifts and money comes from birthdays and Christmas. I plan on getting a job soon so the things I ask for from others, hopefully, I can get for myself. Kate Somerville - ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating TreatmentRight now I don't have an exfoliator in my skincare right now. The best thing I have is an Exfoliating sand thing my mom bought. From using this I have noticed little to no difference in my skin. I want to try a chemical exfoliation but if my skin doesn't enjoy it then I will go the physical route. THE inkey LIST - Q10 Antioxidant SerumRight now I have a vitamin C serum that works on brightening my skin but there are a few setbacks. (I'll do a review soon) This serum just seems better overall and I would love the change in pace. COSRX - AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment TonerMost of the products on this list are things I need to replace our things I don't have. A timer is one of those things I don't have that I feel like I would need for my skin. Right now my skin is dull and patchy, I feel that this would help my problems. pixi - Rose TonicPixi - Rose Tonic Again, things I don't have, and I always want to have more than one option so I’m not disappointed if I’ve doesn’t work, I always have a backup. This tonic was recommended by James Welsh for combo skin. I know sent is a worry for most but most of my products are unscented. On top of that, my skin isn’t very sensitive to sent. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling SolutionThis is my most wanted product. Like I said, I would love to try a chemical exfoliant. This one is the best-reviewed, Hyram and James approved, and just look fun. THE BODY SHOP - Drops Of Youth Youth ConcentrateThis one is the only one I want that i have used before. My mom got a sample when she went to the body shop and I have been hooked since.

Super nice gel cleanser
I’ve heard good things about this brand and I can attest to the fact that this face wash is actually pretty gentle on your face. I use this as a morning cleanser and for days that I just need to wash away the days dirt and gunk. And it does the job. Preferably I like to use cleansers that don’t foam up but this one actually doesn’t feel like I’m stripping my face. It leaves my skin feeling nice and plump after rinsing and drying. It also feels soothing and removes impurities plus takes away the greasy feeling on your face after sweating. So I really recommend it as a daily wash. It’s not much for removing makeup by itself, you’d have to double cleanse. INDIE LEE - Purifying Face Wash has ingredients for hydrating, soothing effects, brightening, fungal acne, and antioxidants. So I would have to use it longer to see any real effects on my face. However, I don’t think I will be re-purchasing this due to the price. There are cheaper options out there in bigger bottles and are just as effective. I think it’s just one of those “not what you need but just nice to have” kind of product. Looks pretty on your shelf too ;)
Indie’s Clarity Kit* (Purifying Face Wash, CoQ-10 Toner and Active Oil-Free Moisturizer). . ❤️Purifying Face Wash - Yes! Finally another cleanser I can get behind. Beautiful lather, non-drying, cleans well, minimal (but lovely) scent. I’m also curious to try the brightening version but absolutely a re-purchase for me! . 🧡CoQ-10 Toner - Of all the products, this was the one I was most excited to try. I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews and it did not disappoint! The hero ingredient is CoQ-10 and the colour indicates a good amount of it is actually in this product. I’ll be doing a full ingredient breakdown in a future post but, overall, the toner is hydrating, refreshing and non-irritating. 100% another repurchase! . 💛Active Oil-Free Moisturizer - I love my oils, so I wasn’t quite sure how I would feel about a moisturizer that was “oil-free”. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. The cream was hydrating, perfectly complimented the other products in the set and left my skin plump and bouncy. It does contain Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, which is derived from Coconut Oil, but that’s just fine with me. A pea sized amount was enough for my entire face and it left behind a thin, comfortable, protective film that layered well under sunscreen. . Final thoughts…. Not only do I love the products themselves but I have a lot of respect for the brand (and it’s founder) as a whole. I love the commitment to legitimately clean formulations (read: phenoxyethanol-free) with reasonable concentrations of advertised actives. Indie Lee is a brand I can get behind; down to Earth, great products!

Tonight’s routine focused on treating breakouts from testing a new product. . 💧 ISClinical Cleansing Complex. My favourite low-pH gel cleanser. Prevents breakouts, cleanses well without stripping the skin, can be used x2 a day. I don’t know why I try other gel cleansers. This never fails me. . 💧 AlliesofSkin Molecular Saviour Probiotic Mist with Colloidal Silver + Probiotics to accelerate the recovery from the breakouts. Gorgeous product with hydration that lasts vs usual mists that leave you thirsty for more. This is a nice buffer for the TLC serum. My only gripe: I’m not a fan of the rose scent! . 💧 DrunkElephant TLC Framboos Serum* 1 pump mixed with Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Serum and massages into skin. . 💧 Finish with my all time favourite DrunkElephant Protini. This mornings routine focusing
This mornings routine focusing on hydration + repair! I’m now on week 3 of Epiduo (BP and Adapalene) and so far, I’m pretty blown away by it. I forgot how quickly Benzoyl Peroxide works on my skin. From the second week, both of my cheeks have been completely clear (they were the areas affected) and PIH is fading at a nice rate, thanks to some supporting products I’ve been using. My chin purged quite quickly (ironically, I only had some closed comedones on that area, so now that looks worse than when I first began) and now continues to go back and forth between clearing up/breaking out. Toleration wise, it’s been easier than I expected given my past experience with Differin. I still have to be careful and cannot use it more than every other night + only applied after moisturiser, but I’ve only experienced mild erythema and some minor flakiness so far. I’m eager to share some B&As but it feels too preemptive! 💧 Cleanse with Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser - I went back to this when I had my PD flare and it’s been a nice addition in the AM whilst on Epiduo. The texture is just my fave (but I hate that scent). Removed with tepid water only. 💧 LED mask for 10 minutes with Neutrogena - an LED mask that utilises Blue Light (targets acne) and Red Light (stimulates collagen production + reduces inflammation) to treat acne. I’ve been using this for two months (ish) and it’s just as good as the DDG Spot Lite Device, but obviously more convenient if you need to treat larger surface areas. Since I’m not using any actives other with Epiduo as to not over stimulate/sensitise the skin, this has been a great companion to treat the breakouts + inflammation in a non-invasive way. 💧 Mixed Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Intense with PaulasChoice Peptide Booster. This has been my favourite combination in the PM (paired with a gentle pigment correcting serum that I’ll share soon! 🤐) when using Epiduo, together they are deeply hydrating + restorative. I had some flaking this morning so decided to use it this AM too.

There are a lot of great korean products in the market, that benefit the skin. I personally began using korean products 3 years ago and since then I have been incorporating more korean products in my skincare regimen. Some korean products that use minimum ingredients which my skin loves; I was not able to choose my favorite korean products but, here are my top 3: I have been using COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser (purchased) for almost 6 months now. I use this cleanser every morning to wash away any impurities my skin picked up while asleep. This cleanser is gentle to my skin and it does not strip out the good oils in our skin; in fact it is very hydrating (I think my skin is greatful for this cleanser). This cleanser does not foam as much which is great for a morning cleanser and it is lightweight. This products is Cruelty-Free and vegan. I recommend this product to every skin type or if you are looking for a gentle morning cleanser. For a 5.07oz - $12 It°S SKIN - Tiger Cica Calming Serum was given to me as a gratis. I have been using this for 5 months but, I only use this when I have troubled skin. This serum contains 74% of Centella Asiatica (CICA) which has antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and healing properties. This serum moisturizes and soothes-irritated skin. The texture of this is almost water like; lightweight and fast absorbing. I use this serum after my toner or sometimes I use it right after my cleanser. I really like that my skin feels refreshed and smooth after using the serum. I recommend this serum to sensitive and acne prone skin because of the soothing CICA For a 80ml - $30 Not to long ago I purchased the Huxley - Sleep Mask; Good Night and it was the best thing I have purchased so far. This sleeping mask hydrates, soothes, and repairs dull skin. This contains prickly pear cactus extract which is full of antioxidants, vitamin E, and linoleic acid. I have been using this overnight for almost a month now and every morning I wake up my skin looks and feels glowy and replenished. I like that this a non-sticky gel formula mask and it is fast absorbent to the skin. I recommend this to all skin types and if your concern is dull skin I high recommend it. For a 4.23oz- $28

GOOD MOLECULES ——————————— A must try brand⚡️ ——————————— Hey loves, so a couple weeks ago I bought some good molecules products and I want to share my honest opinion. I tried out four products. The clarify & cleanse bar, the instant cleansing balm, niacinamide serum and the silicone-free priming moisturizer. ⚡️ ———————————- ⚡️Clarify & cleanse bar: This product really intrigued me because It has salicylic acid in it. Which is good for acne prone skin. I’ve used this for two weeks straight and it doesn’t strip your skin while cleansing and leaves it smooth, soft, and hydrated. It also cleared away my acne that was kickin around at the time. The amount of product you get for the price is amazing. I would definitely recommend trying this bar! The only thing is it smells quite earthy (probably due to the tea tree oil)— I don’t mind it but some might not be a fan. . ⚡️Instant cleansing balm: amazing! It is the best I’ve tried in a long time. Doesn’t irritate your eyes, and takes off stubborn make-up like nothing. . ⚡️Niacinamide Serum: my new favourite go-to serum. Niacinamide is basically Vitamin B3, which helps with minimizing the size of pores and helps refine skin texture/skin tone. I love this! For someone who suffers from ice pick scars, and large pores this is my holy grail. I’m like pores who? Has made such a difference! I am in love. . ⚡️Silicone-free Primer: I don’t have anything bad to say about this product but it didn’t blow me away. I do like how it is a moisturizer as well as primes to help your make up stay on but as someone who suffers from dryness in winter I feel I just need a little more. But I do love how my make up applies over it! Giving me a smooth canvas to work with. ———————————— Overall my skin is GLOWING and I am loving it! . . I like to keep my morning rout
I like to keep my morning routines simple. A gentle cleanse, hydrating toner, antioxidant serum followed by a moisturizer and a sunscreen is all that I use everyday. Sharing my routine from this morning. Derma Truth antioxidant cleanser: This gentle low foaming cleanser cleanses your skin effectively but does not leave it feeling stripped. It contains mild surfactants and is loaded with hydrating and soothing ingredients like Glycerin, Aloe Barbadenis Leaf Extract, Beta Glucan, Allantoin, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate. Derma Truth Antioxidant Peptide Serum: Antioxidants are the superheroes of skincare. They protect your skin from environmental stresses and repair sun damage. I always use a Vitamin C serum post-cleansing in my morning routine. Currently testing this. This white milky lotion-like serum is packed with 18 different antioxidant-rich ingredients like two types of vitamin C (Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate), Green tea extract, Ferulic acid with patented peptides. This sinks in instantly and feels hydrating. Earth Srecipe Energy Boosting toner: Love this toner, viscous in texture and delivers a boost of hydration to your skin. I used 3 layers this morning. It has a pleasant citrus scent and it sinks into your skin beautifully without leaving any residue. This has soon become one of my favorite hydrating toners. You.skincare Clarifying glow serum: I've been using this beautifully formulated product for over two weeks now and I'm surprised at how quickly this has been healing my acne and improving my skin's tone and reducing scars. This serum is a powerhouse of the best ingredients from nature and science. It includes niacinamide, N-Acetyl Glucosamine, alpha arbutin, panthenol, and sodium lactate to gently exfoliate and brighten your skin.
Exfoliating Sensitive Skin 101☀️
Exfoliating Sensitive Skin 101☀️
I have combination skin that is very sensitive and acne-prone so I need to be very careful when I exfoliate that my physical exfoliants aren’t too harsh and my chemical ones aren’t too strong. ☀️Physical exfoliants contain a rougher material like sugar or grains and when used against skin, you remove dead skin cells and reveal newer skin. Some can be too harsh and the Apricot Scrub by St Ives is an example of that. Some are so harsh they actually leave tiny cuts in the skin, leaving it prone and exposed! There are some that I like such as the Acure Blueberry Scrub and I find that is gentle enough to work for me on occasion. I only use a physical exfoliant maybe once a week and twice a week at most. It’s important to not over-exfoliate and when I do use a physical one, I prefer ones that are very gentle. One that I love is the Sand & Sky Enzyme Powder Polish which is my current favorite physical exfoliant. It’s so gentle and the ingredients are amazing for brightening and removing impurities. ☀️Chemical exfoliants are acids that get rid of dead skin that come in various concentrations. These include AHA, BHA and PHA acids. With regular usage, skin can feel smoother and look more even. It can also help with clogged pores! I love Farmacy’s Honeymoon Glow for this personally but I’ve also heard good things about the PHAT Glow Facial by Olehenrikson! The important thing is to listen to your skin and what it needs that day! Exfoliating doesn’t need to be done constantly if your skin is too sensitive for that. I’ll do it about two times a week and tend to alternate between physical and chemical exfoliants. FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum SAND&SKY - Australian Emu Apple Enzyme Powder Polish
