The Ouai for Curly Hair
I've been testing out a few Ouai products they sent me a while ago for my curls to see how they do. So far I'm liking the Leave-in Conditioner for refreshing my hair and the Finishing Creme for styling! They smell AMAZING! I'm not a big dry shampoo girl since my scalp is dry rather then oily, so curly girls tell me how you use dry shampoo for your hair. Have you guys tried Ouai products before? What are your faves? I think I want to they their new treatments masks next. Products: * OUAI - Finishing Creme * OUAI - Super Dry Shampoo * OUAI - OUAI Leave-In Conditioner *OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil * OUAI - OUAI Hair Oil

Sephora favorites samples worth it? 👀✨
When I saw this Sephora favorites bag, I really wanted to get it for the ren body serum and the caudalie gel cleanser. I debated if it was even worth it, I bit the bullet and got it. I’ve got to say these are worth it. It’s great that it includes a 15% off code for each item. The caudalie purifying gel cleanser is 1oz. The full size is $28 for 5oz so it comes out to $5.60 and oz. first time I tried it it felt really good on my face. Didn’t dry me out and if I end up loving it I’ll have to get the full size. CAUDALIE - Vinopure Pore Purifying Gel Cleanser Ren clean skincare body serum, this came in a great 1.7 oz. The full size is $42 for 6.8 oz. so it comes out to about $6 with some change. I’ve been using this for a couple days and it feels great on my skin. REN CLEAN SKINCARE - AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum Lancôme mascara. This is the mini 0.06oz. The full size is $25 for 0.33 oz, $13 for the 0.13 travel size so the mini 0.06 comes out to $6.50. Pretty nice mascara so far. It doesn’t clump up. LANCÔME - Monsieur Big Mascara Ouai hair oil. This came in the 0.33 mini size. The full size is $28 for 1.5 oz, $14 for 0.45 oz. This mini size I will assume it’s about $10-12. Just used this oil and it’s incredibly soft. The downside is the smell. It’s pretty heavy but it kinda smells like gardenia flowers to me. OUAI - OUAI Hair Oil Make up for ever ultra HD microfinishing loose powder. It’s in a tiny 1 g jar. The full size $36 for 8.5 g, $20 for 4 g travel size so the 1 g jar would be about $5. I’ve had this powder before and really likes it a lot. It’s super fine which I love. It sets my makeup well and hasn’t given me that many creases. MAKE UP FOR EVER - Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder Versace perfume sample. In a very tiny spray. It’s 0.03 oz. The travel size in a spray is $30 for 0.3oz. So for 0.03 it would be about $3.75 I’ve had this in the travel size roller ball. Really nice perfume with flowery notes. I love the peony, lotus and magnolia scents. VERSACE - Bright Crystal Eau de Toilette This bag was definitely worth it to me. I ended up liking every single product. As in the price, I’d say it’s pretty good. Personally the value of the bag is more than the $10 I spent. This may definitely not be correct but this bag could have a value of about $37! The math could be way off but to me I really liked this. Have you tried or bought this bag, or are you not interested?

best & blah hair products @ Sephora 🌟
BEST & BLAH 👉🏻 Sephora Edition 😌🙌🏼 We all know the holy grail products we can find at Sephora. For me, I flock to the shelves for Ouai, a haircare line quite popular in the IG community 💡Before trying out their line, I was always skeptical of the value in their products. Come on, is this really worth it? I was an avid fan of it's a 10 haircare - Leave-In Conditioner Spray Product , my holy grail for my wavy, thick hair (which, is extremely damaged!) I could always count on that single product after washing my hair to smooth my hair and aid in softening my ends. Eventually, I had to try out Ouai haircare. After bleaching my hair to its absolute end, I knew I needed to find quality products when it came to styling my hair. My hair had always been picky with the products it uses, especially when it came to styling products. Sticky, thick and too drying formulas turn me off. So, when needing to find my “best and blah,” I knew I had to put Ouai in the hot seat. 1. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray This one left my hair tacky, even with a minimal amount of product sprayed on. My waves weren’t much defined as they would be without this product. This one is $12 (small bottle) at Sephora. Worth it? No, not in my opinion. A better alternative is NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Soft Waves Spray . 2. OUAI - OUAI Volume Spray Hmmm.. perhaps my hair is thick enough to have volume already. Nevertheless, I was not a huge fan of this volume spray. I used it before blowing my hair out and all it did for me was add more product onto my hair, no volume. Worth it? No 😭 I tried my best to like this product but I can’t bring myself to pay $26. 3. OUAI - Dry Shampoo Foam A NEW DRY SHAMPOO FAVORITE! I love this formula (mousse-like) and the smell. It leaves a refreshing and cooling feeling on my scalp. Worth it? YES. I’ll definitely be buying this again, worth the $28! 4. gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil This is a great hair oil, don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the packaging, the consistency and the result of my hair after smoothing this into it; HOWEVER, $46 doesn’t sit right with me for a hair oil so is it worth it? Not for me. 5. eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer I enjoyed the smell and lightweight spray of the nozzle, offering a lighter application of the product. But, too much and your hair gets STICKY. Beware of the amount you use. If used right, it’s worth your time. Worth it? $12 for a great heat protectant is worth it to me! 6. gisou - Propolis Infused Polishing Primer Ehhhh, I couldn’t find the value in this for me. I heard a lot of people talk about their hair feeling smoother after styling once using this; however, I personally couldn’t notice a difference. I loved the creamy texture but I can’t purchase it again. Worth it? $34 isn’t worth it for me 😭

Drying and styling hair is a big project…
Hair texture: Thin and soft, hard to be styled! 😭 Drying and styling hair is a big project every morning after shampoo, especially for girls with long hair. One easy tactic that I found was to use wave spray before blow drying every inch of my hair, where drying and styling can both get done in a single procedure and saves so much time in a hustling morning. Wave sprays are easy to use. I simply apply the sprays throughout my hair, mainly in the hair roots, after shower, and blow my hair to dry. For my semi-curly hair, just a simple step of spraying can guarantee the wavy style and volumize my thin hair with hairdryer, and the natural and fluffy hairstyle could last for the entire day. I have been using OUAI wave spray in the last 2 years and like it a lot until I have got my new spray a few months ago. OUAI is an American hair product brand specialized in hair styling and nutrition. And my new spray is from Shiseido, a popular middle-high end skin and hair care brand from Japan. They both are in the same price range – for around $20 per bottle. To be fair, they both work very well in creating fluffy appearance of the hair, but after using the new product for months, I realized that there are obvious differences. In comparison, I found Shiseido works better for my hair type and lasts for longer. It is very apparent that the compositions of the sprays are different – OUAI wave spray is a liquid spray while Shiseido spray is made of powder. The powders made Shiseido spray so much easier to spread through the hair and is non-sticky. And because the powder is designed to resist the moist, the hair can stay fluffy and natural even in the evening, while OUAI spray only last for 5-6 hours in the summer until the fluffy hair falls back down. In conclusion, the powder spray is more suitable for the summer and especially for people who works long hours and still need their hair to look nice and fluffy in the evening, while OUAI wave spray is just enough to meet your basic need in styling. Ouai Hit & Miss
Two products from Ouai - the cult Instagram favorite hair brand - one that worked well for me and one that was meh. It happens!! The same brand will rarely satisfy all your needs. Ouai is a pretty expensive brand for me for what they do - their haircare isn’t phenomenal like olaplex, but is definitely better than most drugstore brands. Today I’ll be talking about a hit from this brand, OUAI - Air Dry Foam and a miss from them, the OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil . I’ve used both of these for over a year now, repurchasing both of them, but after trying other things, you’ll see why the miss is a miss and the hit is a hit! My hair type: short, pixie cut - straight mostly, some wave, grows fast by lacks hydration sometimes, small damage. The Hit: OUAI - Air Dry Foam + I used to never style my hair the last time I had a pixie, and when I grew it out, I had not been styling my hair for YEARS. So I didn’t know where to go. I didn’t even own a hair dryer. + I picked this up in a mini kit from Sephora on a whim, and I kinda fell in love. For my shoulder length hair, this product gives my hair texture, some wave pattern, and cuts my air dry time down a bit and makes the process smoother. On my pixie cut, it adds a bit of texture/waves and makes my hair have some bounce. + to use, I pump one pump into my hand (that’s all!!) and then rub my hands together and gently run it through my damp hair. Too much and it will make your hair look a little greasy upon drying. + smells like lemons, bergamot, rose - their North Bondi scent in the perfume! + formulated with kale extract that leaves your hair soft and healthy and never crunchy! The not crunchy part is my favorite. + $28 for 4oz, a great deal in my opinion. The Miss: OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil + I used to love this product - I had never tried a hair oil and I thought it was wonderful. This product is multi purpose, meaning you can use it on your body too! + to use, I squirt half a pump into my hand and then rub my hands together. Then I gently and carefully apply it to the ends of my hair, never the roots, but make sure to really hydrate the ends. + to me, this is best used to work out frizz and fluff in your hair - but it doesn’t hydrate or strengthen my hair at all. In fact, it does make it look greasy if I use too much product. + it’s very runny, which some of y’all might like compared to other oils, but I don’t like that. + the scent is melrose place, their other perfume, which is bergamot, lychee, cedar wood, and musk. Not my favorite but doesn’t last too long. + $16 for this size, 1.5 oz. but they have a 3oz for 32$

Top HAIR PRODUCTS of 2020!!
Hey guys! This is the 3rd post for my Best and Worst of Beauty 2020 series! You guys love these posts, so let’s get right on into my top pick for haircare! Once again my disclaimer that these are my opinions, experiences, and data I’ve found. If your opinion or data differs, that’s okay, this is just for fun. Shampoos and Conditioners: 🧴 🚿 I have two picks for this category, one expensive, one cheap. For expensive I choose function of beauty - Custom shampoo + conditioner , which is my current shampoo. Function of Beauty has you take a hair quiz and choose hair goals, then they formulate a custom product based on your hair needs. It costs $49.99 for one 16 fl oz bottle of conditioner and one 16 fl oz bottle of shampoo. The price drops to $39.99 for a 8 fl oz version. Since the formulation depends on your hair, I’ll just share the link to see what may be in yours. If you go to https://www.functionofbeauty.com/ingredients/ it shows the ingredients added per hair goal. My goals are to hydrate, lengthen, anti-frizz, shine, and soothe my scalp. My hair used to be very dry and frizzy, and it hasn’t been since using Function of Beauty. My hair has grown way fast than it ever has, 6 inches since quarantine began! My scalp is also less itchy. A splurge, but worth it. If that’s too expensive you can get the ogx - Thick & Full + Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and ogx - Thick & Full Biotin & Collagen Conditioner . They’re sold separately for $7.99 each for a 13 fl oz bottle at Ulta. They make your hair very soft, as well as nourished. Scalp Scrub: 👩🧼 My pick is definitely theOUAI - Scalp & Body Scrub . It has fine sugar crystals that remove dandruff buildup, or dead skin cells on your skin. This one is pricey, at $38.00 for a 8.8 fl oz tub at Sephora. It has been on Allure’s Best of Haircare list for 3 years straight, and has glycerin and hydrating oils. Hair treatments: ✨🧴 The davines - All In One Milk Lotion is technically a men’s product, but I (a female) LOVE it! You can get a 4.56 fl oz spray bottle for $35.00 on Amazon. It makes your hair shiney, smooth, and detangles it. My only complaint is it has a very strong scent. My second pick is the Maui MOISTURE - Lightweight Hydration + Hibiscus Water Quenching Detangler . It’s much more affordable at $8.99 for a 4.2 fl oz bottle. This is a basic shine inducing detangler that works great with a comb. Hair Mousse: 🛁🧴 The LAYRITE - Natural Matte Cream is another man oriented product that’s great for everyone. For men, it’s mostly used to wax/gel their hair into place. I like it for crazy hair day or Halloween, but for people with a lot of baby hairs or pixie cuts, this is a must. Those are my picks! Thanks for reading this post! Cheer this post so more people can learn about these amazing products, and follow me to see the rest of the series! -Mae

Have you done your scalp detox?
An intergral part of our hair care routine is a scalp detox. A scalp detox is a method of massaging the scalp by brushing or using an exfoliating scrub, which helps buff away dead skin cells, unclog the pores on your scalp, and clear product buildup from the hair follicles. Detoxing the scalp can also help relieve itching, dandruff, and other forms of irritation. To have healthy hair, we need to build a healthy foundation/ scalp for it to grow well. I have using an amazing multi-use scrub from OUAI to build a healthy scalp. OUAI Scalp & Body Scrub The Sell: - Suitable for all hair types - A deep-cleansing, foaming skin and scalp scrub - Sugar: Unclogs and gently exfoliates and conditions while increasing microcirculation - Probiotic Blend: Supports your scalp and skin’s microbiome’s natural defenses - Coconut Oil: Rich in fatty acids that nourish and moisturize the skin, scalp, and hair The Look: I always love multi-use skincare and beauty products and this scrub works well for both body and scalp. While the particles can get stuck in the hair, all it takes is a couple of washes to ensure that they are removed well. It definitely helps to apply the scrub on exposed scalp for ease of cleansing. After washing, my scalp feels cleansed and light. The fragrance - Melrose Place smells like heaven, it boasts a velvety rich rose fragrance with hints of bergamot, lychee, cedar-wood, and white musk. This scrub is perfect for self-care spa day. How to use: Section wet hair to reveal scalp and massage in circular motions to gently exfoliate. Rinse and dry hair as usual. Good to know: Winner of Allure Best of Beauty 2020. Sulphate & paraben free, cruelty free US$38 fo 8.8oz, 250g OUAI - Scalp & Body Scrub

I adore this power duo, The Ouai Hair Oil is super duper light, non-greasy and doesn't weigh my hair done. It sinks in like a dream and my hair always feels soft after using. I add two pumps to towel dried hair before blow drying. The Ouai Wave Spray is perfect if your hair has a natural wave. I spray this onto towel dried hair if I can't be bothered to blow dry it, it's especially helpful on holiday to keep the frizz at bay 🙌🏼

There’s no better feeling, as
There’s no better feeling, as a beauty junkie, than finding that perfect product that makes all of your dreams come true. For me, this amika Soulfood Nourishing Mask is a masterpiece. Firstly, Soulfood smells amazing! The scent lingers in my hair a bit after I use it and I find myself inhaling deeply when a breeze blows my hair around. It’s thicker in texture than most of my other hair masks, so I only need about a teaspoon to coat my shoulder-length hair. My hair has always been prone to frizz and it takes a ton of work to keep it under control, but Soulfood worked miracles for me. I have a TON of hair and almost always air dry it, but have to use hot tools to calm down the “fluff”. I was amazed at how smooth and shiny this mask made my hair after just one use (and I didn’t need heat to keep it in check). It was love at first use and the first thing I added to my Sephora basket for the sale. Everything I’ve tried so far from Amika has impressed me: Perk Up Dry Shampoo, Bust Your Brass Shampoo, un.done Texture Spray - all amazing!

the ouai ✨ I’ve tried the curl jelly a few times and love how it’s a gel-oil hybrid that it works great to hydrate my waves! I also tried the treatment masque yesterday which blew me away bc it nourished my hair so deeply! also I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the rose hair + body oil but I kid you not I’ve been using it every day on my arms and legs bc the scent is not too overpowering, the moisture and glow it gives is wonderful, and I love that you’re able to multitask and use it on both your hair and body! so far I’m so impressed with the products I’ve tried and next on my wish list is definitely their popular scrub, as well as the wave spray and their other foam/spray products to help enhance and hold my natural waves! 🙌🏽

Here are some of my favorite Ouai travel size products! The shampoo I always take with me for washing my hair on the road! I’ve already talked about the Ouai treatment mask in a previous Cherie post but it’s a great one for a quick 5-10 minute hair pick me up on the road. And then my absolute fave the Ouai Wave spray. I love to use it on damp and dry hair. When my hair is damp I sprayed it from the mid hair shaft to the ends and then scrunch my hair with my fingers. When I use it on dry hair I use it to revive curls or waves that are naturally in my hair.

I don’t think I have ever come across a brand that I absolutely have truly loved every product I’ve come across except Amika!!!! They have seriously so many amazing haircare products for all kinds of hair types and hair issues!!! They all work differently for different people but I truly love their diverse products. They stand out in a crowd with their gorgeous designs and vibrant colors but their true beauty is inside the bottles. Their products smell wonderful and truly work wonders!!!

Just wanted to switch it up and shout out the two brands that have been giving my flat, thin hair LIFE recently! . The amika 3D shampoo + conditioner are LIFE - CHANGING. It feels like my hair doubled in thickness after first use. . I’ve been in love with ouai volume spray and texture spray for a while now. My mini of the volume spray is almost gone so I’ll definitely be repurchasing ASAP! The texture spray doesn’t have much hold (which I actually like), but it adds a nice texture for that undone look! . .
