I really love a good moisturizer and a great mascara.
Evil In A Jar
skinfix - Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream This product is marketed as being for sensitive skin. Well, buyer beware of marketing labels. I bought it for that reason. It has a nice texture and is free of the things my skin reacts to (dimethicone, lanolin, beeswax, retinol) and absorbs nicely. I also like the pump that means you aren’t constantly contaminating the product. It’s everything else I dislike about this product. The first week was fine. The second week my skin started to become somewhat irritated and painful to the touch. By the end of the week, I had broken out and cried constantly from how painful my face was. In retrospect, I am pretty sure it was the hyaluronic acid that was irritating my skin. One more product to add to the epic list of products my skin can’t tolerate. So if you have sensitive skin, please use caution with this product. It may be marketed for those of us with sensitive skin but it certainly wasn’t tolerated by my sensitive skin.

Simple, foundation free makeup
COLOURPOP - Going Coconuts It has some winners and some not winners. I went with Coolada for a clean look. tarte - Shape Tape Concealer in 16N. I wish I could find a concealer I liked more that didn’t have dimethicone in it. But this diminishes the redness around my chin and works for now. WANDER BEAUTY - Unlashed Volume & Curl Mascara I like this mascara for a subtle mascara look. It does clump a little so watch out for that. ILIA - Balmy Gloss Tinted Lip Oil in Saint. I love this formula. It’s not sticky, it’s buildable and it has just the right amount of shine. I’ve decided to try going without foundation for the first time since I started wearing makeup. It’s pretty scary but I have found that foundation was making my skin worse and trapping me in a cycle. Since I threw away my foundation, my skin has improved!

Zoom Meeting Look
CLINIQUE - Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Foundation CN10 COLOURPOP - In a Trance Shadow Palette A nice color story, good color payoff, easy applicability, and a nice way to add a pop of color to a basic look. Rare Beauty - Stay Vulnerable Melting Cream Blush in Nearly Rose. I still love this blush so much I think I may buy another color. Blends beautifully and gives just a hint of a flush. WANDER BEAUTY - Unlashed Volume & Curl Mascara A nice alternative when I want a less dramatic lash look than PAT McGRATH LABS - Dark Star Volumizing Mascara The brush is nice but the formula could be a little less thick when applied. Charlotte Tilbury - Lip Lustre Lip Gloss in Walk Of No Shame. A nice semi-opaque color that I am deducting a point from because of the overwhelming vanilla smell. Stop scenting your beauty products, please!!!!!

A Bold Lip: Quelle Surprise!
CLINIQUE - Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Foundation I know this is a pretty controversial product on Cherie but it suits my dry skin pretty well. It takes time to set and the coverage could be better but it applies easily with my fingers and does not get oily. Too Faced - Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eyeshadow Primer I am not a fan of this brand’s gender essentialism or appropriation of AAVE but this product is the best primer on the market. However, if you know of a good eyeshadow primer (not UD) I would like stop giving this brand my money. LORAC - PRO Palette Soleil The shimmers are so good. They apply well and layer easily and are creamy and pigmented. I love the shimmers and glitters. The mattes exist. I guess. I don’t plan to ever try them. PAT McGRATH LABS - Dark Star Volumizing Mascara OG HG Rare Beauty - Stay Vulnerable Melting Cream Blush I looooove this product. It applies easily with my fingers and gave me the perfect hint of color. It has a nice slippy texture that helps it apply very easily. Some have said this is too sheer and doesn’t build well but I struggle with the pigmentation of most blushes because of how fair I am. This blush is the blush I have been looking for all my life. It applies well and then sheers out easily in the first layer giving me the perfect glow. I took a point off for the scent which took about a half hour to dissipate. BOBBI BROWN - Crushed Liquid Lipstick I, as you know, love this line. It applies well and evenly. The product is scent free. The it has a little slip but just enough to be comfortable not enough to be gloopy. It is very comfortable to wear and I love the two colors I own.

Red Lipstick? That’s Where The Drama Begins
UOMA BEAUTY - Say What?! Foundation T1N. Easy to apply and stays even without setting powder or spray. COLOURPOP - Going Coconuts One of Colourpop’s better palette’s easy to apply and the colors are nicely pigmented. A good neutral palette for everyday wear. HOURGLASS - Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara Worst Mascara Ever. #Sydney Grace - Paris Skies[products]#[ThreeStars] Very pigmented and deeper than I expected. It eventually blended out but it took work. COLOURPOP - Lippie Stix Goldie. They were not fulling around with the red of this pen. It is intense. I topped it with COLOURPOP - Lux Lip Gloss in Renaissance which was a mistake. Should have left the matte lip intact. Next time I will pair Goldie with a sparkling metallic eye to tone down the intensity factor.
Make-Up Self-Care (featuring a berry nice gloss)
UOMA BEAUTY - Say What?! Foundation T1N. I think it might be time to replace this foundation soon. It will be buying a new bottle of the same product though. I love the product and the coverage and it is easy to apply with my fingers. #Viseart - Petit Fours[products]#[FourStars] in Lilas. So easy to apply and so wonderfully creamy. It photographs well and layered easily. It could be more pigmented but I was more than happy with this introduction to the brand. Glad I asked for it for Christmas. COLOURPOP - Colourpop Pressed Powder Blush On The Horizon. Very Pigmented and a little difficult to blend. It had a scent that took a good hour to dissipate. I will use it but I will not buy any more Colourpop blushes. HOURGLASS - Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara (GWP) clumpy and hard to apply and just kind of a pain. Not a fan. Also seemed to be perfumed though the scent disappeared quickly. BOBBI BROWN - Crushed Liquid Lipstick in Bitter Sweet. This formula is comfortable. The application dispensers just the right amount of product and gives good control when applying. The shine is just right and the color is really dimensional and gorgeous. I bought this for my birthday and it is a struggle not to buy all of them.

HOW TO: GET FLAWLESS CONCEALER!✨ #CheriePartner
Hello friends! 🪴 Here is my concealer rountine, it's taken me a long time to perfect my process when it comes to concealer. I do have some fine lines underneath my eyes and that is a perfect breeding ground for creasing! I've blended out my concealer with a sponge, with my finger, with a brush and now I've finally got it down! Products Used: e.l.f. - e.l.f Concealer Brush REAL TECHNIQUES - Your Finish/Perfected, Setting Brush e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer e.l.f. - 16HR Camo Concealer MILANI - Make It Last Prime + Correct + Set Setting Spray Directions: on my own i like to MIX products, makeup is a lot of trial and error to find what works for you! so i take the e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer & the e.l.f. - 16HR Camo Concealer both in shades light beige (the hydrating version translates slightly yellow on me, the 16hr version helps to neutralize that! also the mattifying effect helps my concealer from slipping) mixing the products with a paddle brush and use that to apply - a small amount in the inner corner, up and outward on the outer eye, and small amounts on my nose! (side note: i don't like to apply on my chin & forehead, i will use left over product from these areas to avoid a cakey look) taking the e.l.f. - e.l.f Concealer Brush i blend out the concealer! always looking upward ⬆️⬆️ to minimize the chance of creasing once you're done there it's time to set! i go in with REAL TECHNIQUES - Your Finish/Perfected, Setting Brush and my translucent powder! again don't go too hard cause that will make this area look dry & again cakey which we don't want apply MILANI - Make It Last Prime + Correct + Set Setting Spray all over and softly bounce that in with your beauty sponge! then you're DONE! ✨ Hope this helps you guys out - comment below if you try out my technique. Stay tuned for my FULL base rountine coming very soon! Thanks for watching. Follow me on IG: nikkinavarrete As always, sending love! ❤️ #CheriePartner #CherieCreator

New brand at Sephora alert! ✨
I’m totally exposing how messy my desk is right now but NEW BRAND AT SEPHORA ALERT ✨ It is also Sephora’s first black owned “clean” beauty brand. LYS Beauty gifted me their Secure Skin Gripping Serum Primer. LYS Beauty claims this is a lightweight serum primer infused with niacinamide, ginger root extract, and an AHA-fruit blend to help minimize the look of pores and excess oil. When they say lightweight serum they definitely mean it! This primer has a serum consistency which is so nice for oily skin when you’re trying to limit the amount of products you’re applying. I’ve used a lot of gripping primers in the past that were overly sticky (which ended up leaving even my best foundations patchy) and I’m happy to say this one isn’t like that. It does have that gripping affect but I didn’t notice any patchiness in my foundation. It’s also silicone free which is a benefit for my oily skinned friends as the silicone won’t slip and slide off your face during the day as it mixes with your oils. On a random note I’m also really intrigued by the packaging of this brand! All their products (primer included) have this unique triangular packaging. It’s really different compared to most things on the market. 🖤
Brown Smokey’s Are My Favorite #CheriePartner
Well all have that Go-To Look, weather it’s the infamous gold copper eye & nude lip or a personalize signature look, everybody has that look that whenever they are going out or need a makeup look for any occasion they have one that is their tried & true For me personally my signature look is a brown smokey, it literally goes with everything and you can level up the smoke to match the occasion ( whether day or night ). Over the years my brown smokey’s have evolved and I eventually went to MAC & made my own palette of my favorite colors to achieve my perfect smokey! This palette i made is BrownGirl Friendly ( so listen up my melanin cuties! ) & it only consist of 4 shadows (2 shimmers & 2 mattes) 2 Mattes MAC - MAC Eyeshadow in Brown Script MAC - MAC Eyeshadow in Swiss Chocolate 2 Shimmers MAC - MAC Eyeshadow in Amber Lights MAC - MAC Eyeshadow in Antiqued These 4 shadows can literally create endless looks and can get pretty smokey if you build them up right or with a great pencil brush to smoke that lash line out chile! *i made this mini palette a couple years ago when MAC had a create your own palette promo, but you can still buy these shadows individually on the website*
My Favorite Products Like EVER💄❤️👩🏾
We all have those products that come 👏🏾through 👏🏾every👏🏾TIME! and never fail us. Whether it’s that ONE nude gloss with the perfect amount of pink & gold reflect or that one foundation that NEVER breaks you out, makeup holy grails are inevitable! 2020 I feel like i’ve upgraded my love for makeup to a new level! Being home you really get to spend time and hone in on things that we never had the time to before. Makeup has always had my ❤️ but last year I was really able to deep dive into it. To be honest, I’m a creature of habit, I don’t necessarily like trying new products because I’ll literally try it once and probably like it but will forget to incorporate the product(s) into my routine. So instead of me raving about new products, I’ll rave about my HOLY GRAIL products that I know will work everytime! Last glue is an underrated holy grail item that EVERY Lash Wearing person should have in their kit or vanity. Everyone needs a lash glue that will WORK time & time again. I love my Esqido - Companion Eyelash Glue when I tell you it’s UP & it’s SUCK!! Then lashes not going no where and they are perfect for sensitive eyes for all my watery girls out there! And it’s inexpensive too. I got two hours for $20! I can be picky when it comes to my eye shadow palettes, I don’t like having too much of the same color stories with my palettes, but i’m also not a very colorful person when it comes to eye shadow as well. One of my all time favorites is the ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette It has the perfect amount of shimmers & mattes and is easily a day to night palette. But recently i’ve really been gravitating towards the NATASHA DENONA - Bronze Eyeshadow Palette this palette is a HOLY GRAIL palette, it’s the Soft Glam palette richer half sister that only comes to IMPORTANT family functions!!! The shimmers in this palette hit different and the mattes are buttery smooth!! She’s more expensive but WORTH IT! The concealers i’ve been using haven’t changed in over a year, I have TWO concealers I ❤️. One is the NARS - Soft Matte Complete Concealer its a fuller coverage concealer and dries down to a matte finish, It’s lovely and has many different colors and undertones. My next pick is the e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer this concealer is THE BEST and is super full coverage. I pretty much use the two concealers together EVERYTIME i do my makeup. My elf concealer is a little more yellow so it’s perfect for highlighting, my NARS concealer I use more for evening the skintone. The laura mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder in Medium Deep has been used EVERY SINGLE TIME I do my makeup, if I don’t use it to set my foundation something feels missing!! These products have been used practically every makeup look & have become staples!

If the ingredients are bad, why does it work?
As an esthetician, it really bugs me when people are using terrible products with bad ingredients and think it’s fine because it’s working right now. Just because it works for now doesn’t mean it’s actually good for your skin or that it will continue to work. Ingredients matter so much! Know what you’re putting on your face and is getting absorbed into your skin. Full YouTube video all about bad ingredients with sources coming to my channel Madi Hearts next month.
Cruelty Free Makeup🐰💖
This brand is 100% cruelty free & vegan🐰🌿 My absolute favorite product from them is JELLY JAM. It’s a jelly texture glossy lip balm with a cute pink tint💖 It’s less stickier than lip gloss & has same hydration power. My only complaint is that it tastes bitter😅 Golden Hour Eyeshadow Palette is shimmery and so pretty. Shades are perfect for everyday look✨ Dew Drops Illuminating Gel Primer☁️ I use this as a highlighter instead of primer. A little bit of this on my cheekbone & eyelid gives me that glossy look🥰 Muse Skin is a fine pearl highlighter. I received shades Goddess and Utopia. Goddess has a beautiful gold shade & Utopia looks like a pure copper. It was a little dark for my skin tone so I use it as a light bronzer & eyeshadow👍 KALEIDO COSMETICS - Golden Hour Eyeshadow Palette KALEIDO COSMETICS - Muse Skin - Ultra-Fine Pearl Illuminator KALEIDO COSMETICS - Dewdrops - Illuminating Gel Primer #Kaleido Cosmetics - Jelly Jam[products]#[FiveStars] #CherieCreator
