Minimize trauma to the skin after picking🧖🏾‍♀️

as someone who suffers from dermatillomania, it can be very triggering when breakouts come out of nowhere and return with no warning...especially when life isn’t always easy. which may trigger you to pick even more. some of these products really helped repair the broken skin i was creating for myself from picking without further irritating. i am still trying to put together a perfect post picking routine. (Which will go up here ASAP.) However, what i do know is that HYDRATION post picking is very important. if you can’t help yourself but pop pimples or pick at your skin, pls drop the tools & use q tips!! the closer to the surface the acne is, the better! before and after picking its important to wash your hands and cleanse your skin. I go straight for theCeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser
I like this for treating irritated, broken skin/ scabs on my face because it’s non irritating and doesn’t further strip the already broken skin when cleansing. This cleanser hasn’t really helped much with existing (comedongenic) acne for me. But it is good for this. Right after, i go straight for HOLIKA HOLIKA - Aloe 99% Soothing Gel
& CeraVe - Healing Ointment
I LOVEEEE both of these products. They’ve helped calm irritation, and resurface scars both on my face and my body but also helps the scabs fall off a bit quicker with less trauma to the skin. Add some hyluaronic acid to this mixture!! After this, I applyAveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion
This lotion has really helped fade acne scars alone/ used with other products. The dimethicone in this product works as a skin protectant. If I am headed outside, (Though this mini routine is ideal for the night time, I would apply my BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30
SPF is very important for us pickers. Don’t skip the SPF! 🧴Avoid any chemical exfoliants or tugging or scrubbing at the broken skin until the lesion and scab has healed! Make sure to keep the scabs moisturized!

Battle of the Aloe Veras! K beauty skincare
SKINFOOD - Aloe Vera 93% Soothing Gel HOLIKA HOLIKA - Aloe 99% Soothing Gel I read that aloe is supposed to help soothe dry skin and I had an Ulta coupon so I bought both of these and the HOLIKA HOLIKA - Aloe Facial Cleansing Foam because I already know I like that one (separate review to follow). I’ve used both of these for my morning and night time routine and there’s one that is slightly better than the other. I used the Skinfood first, right after I had washed my face and put toner on, and it actually burned a little which is weird for a product that should be soothing. I tried it in the morning after I put on toner and it didn’t burn, and I’m not sure if it having 93% aloe rather than a higher percentage made that difference or not. This also has a slight scent, so maybe that’s what that other 7% is. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I still like it but maybe it’s for more like a soothing sunburns type of product than a face product. The Holika Holika Aloe I’ve use before and I love it! It’s 99% aloe which is great, it feels like the closest thing to aloe straight from the plant. It has a scent but I think that’s it’s natural. This didn’t sting at all and felt really soothing. I definitely prefer this one to the Skinfood one, but I’d prefer the Skinfood over like Walmart or Target brand aloe by far.

I bought a huge aloe leaf for $5
Holika holika is a kbeauty brand that’s been known to make some really great products. One of those great products is the soothing gel that’s made from 99% aloe Vera from jeju Island. I purchased mine at Marshall’s for $5 but it’s also available on amazon for around $6 or so. If you’ve been keeping up with my posts you should know that I’ve started retinol recently and it’s making my skin purge. I use this HOLIKA HOLIKA - Aloe 99% Soothing Gel as my morning and night moisturizer to help with some of the redness from my breakouts. So far I’m in love with it, just it just has one teeny tiny problem. It’s hard to get only a small amount of the product out of the bottle 😭 My face is fairly small so I only need maybe a nickel size amount to cover my whole face because a little bit of this stuff goes and EXTREMELY long way. The dispenser makes it a bit hard to get only a little because you have to be very gentle when pressing the leaf. That’s my only problem with this product though. I really love the scent because it smells really clean and refreshing. Fragrance is one of the last ingredients so that’s also pretty good. It has a very watery gel like texture but once it absorbs into the skin it stays in the skin. The look of the product is also very cute and I enjoy it. So is it worth it for $5? Yes :)

Wearing Sunscreen is Essential! ☀️✨
And thanks to@cherieBlack Girl Sunscreen is one of my new SPF essentials. The creator of Black Girl Sunscreen created it as a solution for Black women struggling to find sun protection. Also as a way to encourage women of color, to spend more time exploring nature and the great outdoors! Which is great because this sunscreen is water-resistant & works for the face and the body. There’s even a kids version available! The formula is also free of reef-damaging chemicals like oxybenzone and octinoxate, it’s completely free of parabens and fragrances as well. For me and my dark skin, it’s important for me to find a sunscreen that is going to protect my skin, & do it without the dreaded white cast. This sunscreen provides all of that! I use about a nickel size of this, & rub it into my skin. It applies nicely & isn’t ashy, greasy, or sticky. Most importantly, it's completely invisible upon my skin, & leaves it with a perfect glow afterwards! I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Especially to my girls with melanin. You definitely won’t regret it. This is available at Target for $15.99 for a 3 fl oz tube. Thank you Cherie for sending me this to review! ☀️ BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30

No Casper vibes with this SPF!
I received the highly recommended Black Girl Sunscreen moisturizer from @cherieto review. BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 I don’t have much to say about this product except that it’s the bomb! Especially if you have any melanin to your complexion 😉 This SPF leaves no white cast so none of that dreaded Casper look. On top of providing sun protection it’s also super moisturizing enough so that I don’t need to apply additional moisturizer prior. Lastly this stuff does NOT smell like the spf we are used to. As someone with hyperpigmentation and dark spots I cannot skip sunscreen ever! And this helps protect and moisturize my delicate face

easy body physical exfoliation
**not my photo! While I love a good chemical exfoliant for my face, I really find that it’s not really enough for the skin on my body. I use a glycolic acid body wash almost every day and I still end up with sticky skin even after I moisturize. I’ve tried body scrubs and while they can be effective, I feel like I waste a lot of product because it dissolves so easily. I also find that my chest, especially between my boobs, has these little bumps and it gets somewhat oily . I was listening to the “Fake Doctors, Real Friends” podcast (ANYBODY A “SCRUBS” FAN???!!!), and they mentioned washing their bodies with washcloths. So I decided to try it! I just took an old face washcloth that is a little more on the rough side rather than the soft and I lathered it up with my Dove - Beauty Bar Soap and began scrubbing all over my body. While I’m sure it doesn’t match the intensity of a Korean scrub, I imagine it’s a step toward that amazing exfoliation treatment. As soon as I stepped out of the shower, I could feel the smoothness of my skin and my body lotion went on very smoothly with minimal stickiness. I love how easy it is to use a washcloth and although all the bumps and the sweaty feeling on my chest isn’t completely gone, I love how smooth it immediately makes my skin feel. I have a ton of washcloths and I always use a new washcloth each time I exfoliate, and I always follow up with my Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion to seal in the moisture. I’ve been wanting to try a dry brush if anyone has recommendations! What other ways do you use to exfoliate your body?

How to get beautiful, glowing skin :)
Here is what I do to get that nice glowy, dewy look in the morning. I start by holding an almost hot towel to my face and leaving it for about half a minute. Rub the towel on your skin to wake it up. Once dry, use a moisturizer. I use Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion because it's light on the skin, not oily, and abosrbs quickly. After I use my sukin eye cream sukin - Eye Serum to brighten up my eyes. This product is all natural without harmful chemicals like PEGs and parabens and works on all skin types. I go ahead with#Rejuva Minerals - Loose concealer powder[products]#[FiveStars] to cover up my under eye circles a bit and redness on my nose. Follow with light blush in the cheeks, I use #Rejuva Minerals - Peach Pink pressed blush[products]#[FiveStars] because it give your face that full, awake look. There you go, an all natural, less than five minutes look. Follow with mascara if you're looking for a bolder eye.

Face update
Ok guys if you been following me my bumps are starting to dry up and now I have dark spots. My right side is completely healed and the left is my trouble side. After seeing my dermatologist for my follow up appointment she went up on the dose of the retinoid I use at night. If you are wondering my routine this is what I'm using. Also go look at my old pics to see where I started from. Neutrogena - Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask I love this as it dries out my bumps LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser I use this at night and love how it's super light CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion light way and keeps face moisturizer at night elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I use the tinted version now great for black girls only in the morning and I do two fingers when I apply it The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I just started using it super light weight. I started as a suggestion to help purging. Haven't told my dermatologist I'm using it but it has made the bumps on the right side calm down so so far so good. I'll update this to five stars after I have enough data to support if it really works.CeraVe - Healing Ointment I use when I experience dryness from the winter. A lot goes a long way .

CERAVE HYDRATING GEL CLEANSER REVIEW! 💚
Hi! 👋 I am going to be talking about my overall experience with this cleanser from Cerave! CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser INFO: This is recommended for Normal to dry skin! Though, I would recommend it for all skin types. For reference, I have combination skin! I have areas of dry patches and oily areas on my skin! This cleanser can be found at Target, Ulta, Walmart, and Amazon! The cleanser is $14 USD for 12oz! They offer a trail size of 3oz which is great if you want to try it out! REVIEW: This was recommended by my dermatologist, when I had severe acne. My overall experience with this product is great, it left my skin hydrated after washing it off (does not strip the skin). This is a gel cleanser, so it does not foam (create bubbles). Some people say that the product did not cleanse their skin well enough or that it caused them to get breakouts. I use it also as a double cleanser, so I use it twice in a row to get off makeup. This didn’t happen to me, but just another reason to try the trial size! Highly recommend! thanks for reading! Comment your experience with this product! Follow me for more! :)

Differin progress... is this a purge or what?
Sorry this is gross.. I know my skin isn’t pretty right now. Today marks the 4th week I’ve been on DIFFERIN - 0.1% Adapalene Acne Treatment Gel Pump and also my new birth control (yaz). I have literally never, EVER seen my skin this awful and angry. Should I stick it out until the and of 12 weeks? Does this look like a purge or just a flat out breakout?! I’m freaking out.. I don’t even want to go outside looking like this. I’m also using Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream am and pm, and cleansing with CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser . Not looking to add any more products. Sometimes I use a hydrating toner. The dryness and peeling has subsided but the pimples do hurt, my cheeks are tender to the touch and sometimes itchy but that has gotten better over time also. Please help!!!!! EDIT: i just bought the DIFFERIN - Daily Deep Cleanser BPO 5%, Neutrogena - On-the-Spot Acne Treatmentand HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewellto hopefully combat the horrible breakouts pictured above. just praying it doesnt over dry my skin.

Week 3 of Tretinoin and Spirinolactone Journey
Week 3 of Tretinoin and Spirinolactone Journey
This is the end of my third week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. This first half is a repeat of last week’s post. The new info will be right below my posted routine. I purchased both treatments from Apostrophe, so they have been prescribed by a dermatologist. My Apostrophe cream formula is 0.025% Tretinoin and 4% Niacinimide. I’ve simplified my routine to only include an oil cleanser, a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, the tret cream, a sunscreen, and an occlusive . I have normal skin. I’m looking to add more in as I adjust to treatment. My routine is as follows: AM CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin Apostrophe formula (using this after moisturizer so I can have a buffer between the tret and my skin) CeraVe - Healing Ointment Can we say progress that only I really see?! I love how the texture on my forehead and cheeks is getting smoother as time goes by. A lot of the redness I was dealing with has gone down as well. Also, my smile lines aren’t as prominent as before, which is nice. I just transitioned to using Tretinoin every other day, and so wanted to add some minor adjustments to my routine to make sure my skin was getting the hydration it needs. As you increase your usage of any active, you must similarly use more products that can help hydrate and and keep your skin hydrated. I needed to add an oil cleanser to my routine for to make up for this summer heat, and the sweat 😓 that results. My skin always feels so grimy so I needed an gentle cleanser I could add on to my routine. I’m also using the Cerave healing ointment as an occlusive to help seal in moisture on the days I’m not using Tretinoin to protect my moisture barrier. I feel like I could begin to purge soon, as I’ve been noticing some whiteheads appearing in areas I already have acne in and in the exact spots I have had breakouts in the past.

Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin
CeraVe-Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin
If You Have Acne-prone Skin, Give CeraVe A Go! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
If You Have Acne-prone Skin, Give CeraVe A Go! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
I have combo-oily and acne-prone skin (oily in summer and dry in winter), so I focus more on skincare products that can help to repair the skin barrier and fight the annoying acne. 😫😫 I was recommended CeraVe products, which is said to be an excellent option for those that need help repairing a damaged moisture barrier. Here is my review of 3 products I've tried: CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion It's xcellent for all skin types, particularly dehydrated skin in need of barrier recover. It works well on hydration, and its not greasy at all! I can use it in the summer! I usually have three pumps to apply and massage to make it soaks into my face. I have to say that I didn't see a significant difference in brightening skin tone, but it's useful in treating acne and repairing skin. The fact that it has 4% niacinamide with glycerin, hyaluronic acid & 3 types of ceramides makes this holy grail status for me. But It may stings at first use, so build tolerance first. CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This is a pretty light lotion and perfect for people who don’t like the tacky or sticky feelings of moisturizers. I love to use it in summer, and it absorbs very quickly. It doesn't sit on the skin, and the skin kind of drinks it in. My facial skin feels plumped and well-hydrated. This lotion contains ceramides that support hydration and protects overall skin wellness. I would highly recommend it to anyone on a budget as it’s inexpensive yet very effective. CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser The cleanser is a Life Saver when my skin breakouts and irritated. This cleanser has 3 essential ceramides that protect and build the skin barrier and helps retain moisture at the same time. They also help to protect the skin from environmental aggressors such as pollution and irritations, that can cause sensitivity, redness and dryness. Since I have combo-oily skin, I added it to my PM skincare routine and it can leave my face clean and soft. I'm beyond happy with this brand and will forever repurchase! Considering the effectiveness and prices, I would 10/10 recommend it to anyone having acne-prone skin like me!🥰🥰🥰

Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin

Hormonal Acne Routine 💪
Hormonal Acne Routine 💪
Heads up- this will be a long post! I usually have combo/ oily skin with breakouts here and there. I recently had a crazy hormonal acne flare up and after trying numerous products, I decided to see a dermatologist. Here’s the routine I’ve been following for just over a month and have seen improvement. 1. I wash my face with CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin morning and night. This cleanser is very gentle and doesn’t strip my skin or irritate my newly sensitive skin. I haven’t been wearing makeup so I can’t speak as to how good this is at removing makeup. For a daily cleanser, it’s a great option although I do find the price a little steep for a drugstore product at $15. A little goes a long way so I only use about half a pump each time! 2. I spray CAUDALIE - Grape Water on my face while it’s still a little damp. I bought the mini version at first and and about using it for a week, I ordered the bigger one! I reviewed this product separately as well and I didn’t have very high hopes. It really helps reduce sensitivity, provides a burst of hydration and preps my skin for the next product. It’s also fragrance free. 3. In the mornings, I apply Benzoyl Peroxide on the affected areas. I only keep it on for 5 minutes and then wash my face with cold water as per the dermatologist. I thought it might be more effective if I left it on and boy was I wrong. My skin was red and itchy and flaming and it was horrible. So listen to the expert!! 4. I then moisturize with CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin mornings and nights. I have to say, I’m still getting used to this one. As an oily girl, I’m used to using gel based moisturizers that sink right now. This I feel kind of sits on top of my skin... I know there’s a “lotion” as well which may be a little more suited for me than a “cream”. However, it doesn’t irritate my skin so I’ve stuck to it. 5. I finish my applying sunscreen with SPF 50. I’ve had this previously and I used it for oily skin. It hasn’t dried my newly combo/ sensitive skin so I’ve continued using this product. Night Routine 3 times a week, I apply DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel to the effected area. I feel confident this has made a huge impact! It is of course drying but the CAUDALIE - Grape Water helps with that. I even use it as a spot treatment in between if I need to! This is a prescribed version but it’s also available OTC. Add Ons 1. JĀSON - Soothing 98% Aloe Vera Pure Natural Moisturizing Gel when my skin is feeling super sensitive (more so in the early stages) I used this instead of the CeraVe. It feels nice on the skin and is a natural product. 2. dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator I use this as I need it to exfoliate away any dead skin as a result of the creams I’m using. Gentle and doesn’t irritate my skin at all

☀️AM Skincare Routine
☀️AM Skincare Routine
Hey guys! I wanted to share my AM skincare routine to see if anyone might have any suggestions for me, and to help others out! A background on my skin: My skin is very sensitive and can be acne-prone, but typically does very well with my current skin care routine. I also have combination skin, with some dry areas but I also have large pores on my cheeks (thanks genetics). Products: -CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin I LOVE this face wash! It really cleanses my skin, but I don’t find that it dries me out. I think it works really well for sensitive skin. -PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator This is a product that I think has truly transformed my skin! It has noticeably made my skin much smoother than it was before I started using this product, I highly suggest it to anyone with acne-prone skin. I use this product 5 times per week. -Neutrogena - Rapid Clear, Stubborn Acne, Daily Leave-On Mask I like using a BHA and Benzoyl Peroxide combo to prevent acne. I think this product is fine for a Benzoyl Peroxide product, but would certainly be open to new suggestions! -CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This is the BEST lotion I have ever used on my face! I find it to be great for my sensitive skin, and I love how hydrated and glowy it makes my face look throughout the day. -CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream I really like this eye cream because the second ingredient is Niacinamide, which is great for under the eyes due to its brightening and soothing qualities! -PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ I really do love this SPF and use it daily, the ingredient list is amazing, and it smooths onto my skin so nicely. I do think that it may cause me to break out sometimes on my cheeks though. So other SPF suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

taking advantage of quarantine to finally put together a grown-up skincare routine! i have oily skin and recurring acne, so i’m still trying to figure out how to curb breakouts. anybody else like these products? or have any other recommendations? 💕 • CLEANSER • CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser this just feels good to put on. silky smooth, clean, refreshing. GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Waterproof Makeup Remover i only use this when i’ve been wearing makeup, which hasn’t been much lately, but it does the trick. it’s also good for when i feel like double cleansing at night. • TONER • THAYERS - Witch Hazel Astringent love this for helping minimize my pores. sometimes i swab it on mid-day if my skin is feeling extra oily. • ACNE TREATMENT • Neutrogena - On-the-Spot Acne Treatment i’ve been using this for a million years and it’s great for getting acne to disappear as quickly as possible. just an awesome little spot treatment. Clearasil - Rapid Rescue Deep Treatment Wash this is a nighttime acne wash and it seems to work pretty well. it does have an intense chemical smell, which isn’t my favorite. • MOISTURIZER • Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer i love this stuff. my roommate thinks it’s an alien serum since it’s so pretty and blue. putting this on at night just makes my skin feel so hydrated and fancy. plus, it’s super light, which is a godsend for oily skin. Neutrogena - Facial Moisturizer i put this on in the morning because i know i need some spf, but it still leaves me feeling oily even though there’s no oil in it! still hunting for an spf moisturizer that doesn’t smell so sunscreen-y and feel heavy in my skin.

Cerave for the body?!
Cerave for the body?!
Everyone is always talking about the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser and other face products, rightfully so, but no one ever talks about the amazing body products they have as well. If you’re like me you have super sensitive dry skin and are prone to things causing some irritation or rashes. We both no these are no fun. I have found that minimizing my routine and leaving out irritating ingredients helps control a lot of these symptoms. Let’s talk about the CeraVe - Hydrating Cleansing Bar for Normal to Dry Skin first. This product I bought after wanting to use more bar soaps because I wanted to be more environment conscious. My issue with bar soaps in the past is they leave behind this sticky residue that I CAN’T stand. I was so pleasantly surprised when this product didn’t do that. I was also surprised when this product actually lathered. I figured it was going to be like the hydrating facial cleanser and not foam up, which is fine for the face, but I have this thing with my body where foam = clean. (I know, I know🤣) anyway, this actually foamed up and instead of stripping my skin of moisture I felt like I was adding a moisturizer onto my skin. I imagine this would also work on the face as well for people who want something that foams but also hydrating. The next product I want to talk about is perfect for people who have body acne. CeraVe - SA Body Wash for Rough & Bumpy Skin I bought this product when I was having a hard time with KP on the back of my arms. I didn’t ever see a difference with that when using this product but I did see a major difference with my body acne. This is perfect for those with sensitive skin that still need the active ingredient of salicylic acid. It can be a smidge drying though so warning.
