5-second reviews: September Skincare Empties
Hi friends!!! I have been super busy recently and didn’t realize how much I have emptied this month already! This isn’t even HALF but these are the empties I feel comfortable reviewing at the moment! Please keep in mind I have fair skin that is sensitive, acne-prone, and prone to rosacea flare ups. I would consider myself combination dry with oily t zone. Here are my quick thoughts on each product: ORIGINS - Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash this face was is OK. It’s definitely affordable but it gives your skin the same feeling as if you were using a bar of soap—very slippy and tight. If my skin were oily I would probably like this, but I can’t recommend it for dry or sensitive skin. Allies of Skin - Triple Hyaluronic Antioxidant Hydration Serum OOF! I won this in a giveaway on Instagram. I had heard such amazing things about it but it ended up wrecking my skin. It contains some fruit acids as well as fragrance so it burned up my skin. This was the only thing I changed in my routine and I went from minimal redness and acne to a full face of irritation and breakouts. You can’t pay me to use another allies of skin product. FARMACY - Honey Butter Beeswax Lip Balm this literally made my lips PEEL. I just needed to declutter it for my own sake!! It seems Farmacy’s ingredients are all just a no from me dawg. Awake - Lip Therapy Lip Mask if you hate the goopy, stickiness of the laneige lip mask you will hate this one too...it’s even worse! I will say that it does a great job of hydrating my lips but I can’t get over the stickiness. INDIE LEE - CoQ-10 Toner I loved this toner!! Until I was 7/8ths through the bottle. It started immediately pilling and irritating my skin. Super disappointing. I also no longer support this brand. I used it as a hydrating step in my routine after cleansing but before serums. BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer I really love Biossance products but this one was a miss. You would probably like it if you have oily skin! But it just gave me a weird affect like my skin just drank it up and left nothing to actually moisturize my skin after. Supergoop! - Defense Refresh (Re)setting Mist SPF 40 * THE DEVIL SPRAY! It smells like straight up chemicals. Not even sunscreen. Just chemicals. It burned my skin!! I would even shake it up for a good 30-60 seconds before applying but my skin was not having it. *gifted by the brand PEACE OUT - Acne Healing Dots These are worth every penny. Hands down the best pimple patches I have ever used! They’re a little pricey but worth it. COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch These are my favorite drugstore pimple patches. Not as effective as the Peace Out dots but I highly recommend them to everyone!! Any questions about these products? #CheriePartner
Tips to avoid pimples from spreading!!
If you are anything like me and hormonal acne is your enemy, this is what has helped me avoid my breakouts from getting worse. Normally stress or my period are the cause of most of my breakouts. Normally its not that bad BUT I noticed that when I started using masks more pimples starting appearing near the area of my original breakout or my pimples last longer than usual. To avoid this from happening I started to use hydrocolloid patches under my mask. I realized that if I’m not taking the mask off during the day there’s really no problem having the patches in my pimples. Or even if I do take it off its in my house or at a friends house so I just keep the patch in my face through the day so I don’t have to constantly have to be putting a new patch on every time I put my mask out during the day. I have found this to be helpful in controlling breakouts so it doesn’t spread. The patches that I find are worth buying and not a scam include: PEACE OUT - Acne Healing Dots COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewell Note: I do use my mask for a long period of time so if you just use ur mask to make quick errands this might not be necessary Try it out and let me know if it help you!
How to Treat Bug Bites with Skincare!
You know that friend who gets a million bug bites after being outside for just half an hour? I’m that friend. After so many years of dealing with itching and swelling, I’ve finally figured out how to use my skincare products to relieve the worst parts of bug bites. Apply diluted tea tree oil to reduce itching and swelling. This is the only time I would ever recommend using an essential oil as a skincare product, and only when it’s done properly. Tea tree oil has powerful anti-bacterial, anti-itching, and anti-swelling properties, which makes it a great treatment for bug bites. I got this bottle of tea tree oil at TJMaxx, but you can find tea tree oil at grocery stores like Whole Foods or by browsing on Amazon. Essential oils can really irritate your skin and make your bug bites even worse, so you need to be careful! To safely use tea tree oil on your bug bites, mix it into a carrier oil. I prefer jojoba oil or rosehip oil, but there are many options to choose from based on your skin type. To make a treatment oil that’s safe to use on your face, I recommend a 2.5% dilution, which is about 15 drops of tea tree oil for 6 teaspoons of carrier oil. You can also make a tea tree toner using 2 to 3 drops of tea tree oil and 2 to 3 drops of carrier oil per 2 tablespoons of water. A toner is especially helpful for applying to larger areas like your arms or legs. I prefer using a toner because it feels lighter and it’s easier to reapply, and I mix my toner into a travel-size spray bottle for convenience! Use pimple patches or hydrocolloid patches. You’ve probably seen how people use pimple patches to treat their bug bites. If your bug bites really swell (like mine sometimes do), I would recommend getting a pack of hydrocolloid bandages, like the CVS pharmacy - Advanced Healing Hydrocolloid Bandages . They’re much cheaper than pimple patches and can be cut to fit whatever size bug bite you want to treat. One time I had a huge bug bite on my eyebrow, so I used a hydrocolloid bandage overnight and it shrunk down to almost nothing! How do you deal with bug bites? Have you tried either of these methods?
skincare routine update on accutane!
i thought i would also do an update on what products i have been using, since i just added a few a couple weeks ago! *** i do not use all of these every single day! *** night time routine: i’ll start off with the Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel , which i have a love, hate relationship with. i love the way it makes my skin feel cleansed of makeup or dirt at the end of the day, but unfortunately it has fragrance, so removing my mascara definitely burns. i then wash my face with the Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser , which i also just realized has fragrance pretty low in the ingredient list, but i still am okay with using it. after cleansing, VERSED - JUST BREATHE Clarifying Serum i use this serum, which has great ingredients in it for controlling the balance of your skin, and also calming it. i just got this around a week ago, but i love how fast my skin absorbs it! after applying serum, i use the Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer , and i absolutely love this moisturizer. i use the fragrance free one (there is one with and without fragrance), and it doesn’t make my skin sting and it feels really hydrating. after this i will apply the FARMACY - Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream with Acerola Cherry , i don’t know how much of a difference it makes but 5 stars because no fragrance and it feels great :) lastly, i will sometimes use the HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original and Invisible+ Bundle , i like how it helps protect the breakout from environmental factors, but i don’t know how much it actually helps inflammation go down. if my skin is feeling extra dry, i will use The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil , which makes my skin feel great, but i feel like it causes me to breakout around my chin area, so i don’t use it more than 3 times a week. lastly, i will sometimes use the cocokind - Turmeric stick at night and i love, love, love this. it helps with calming inflammation, brightening your skin, and is super easy to apply. my only concern is the fact that the application is stick form, so it may transfer bacteria even if your skin is clean. but other than that, it doesn’t aggravate my skin and all of their products are amazing and i love the packaging and what the company stands for!
the best pimple patches!!
ummmm these are hands down the best pimple patches i’ve ever tried!! and i’ve gone thru manyyyyy. the price kinda steered me away when comparing them to other pimple patches (they’re $16.99 when you include shipping compared to cheaper $5 ones). But once i tried these i was like yo these ACTUALLY work every time and i think about how it was more of a waste of money to be buying cheaper pimple patches that don’t even work properly. i’ve tried COSRX - COSRX Pimple Patch Set they’re okayy. felt like i still was left with a scar after. i’ve tried nexcare and the creme... just no ❤️ Hero cosmetics comes with 36 patches and it’ll last me a good 3-4 months. i’ll wear these in public sometimes and you barely notice cuz they’re so thin and transparent. they also have invisible patches which are made for the daytime and work just as well.

Are pimple patches worth it?
I have finally hopped on the pimple patch bandwagon due to desperation! I developed a whitehead on my upper lip about a week after getting my lip threaded (another form of hair removal). And guess who is going to see their boyfriend in FOUR days? 🙂 I quickly ran to the the store two days ago to find a (hopefully) quick fix and settled on a pimple patch. •HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewell Application and removal was self-explanatory. The instructions advise you to leave it on a minimum of six hours so I just slept with it on overnight both nights. After using these for the past two nights they visibly appear to have helped. Now there is still a red spot on my face, but is is mostly flat. Any puss/ickyness that was inside the pimple is mostly gone now. There is a slight residue when initially taking the patch off, but once rinsing/washing your face it goes away. Overall, I would use these if you were in a pinch and looking for a way to flatten out a pimple. I’m still going to have to wear makeup to cover the redness, but that’ll be much easier to do now that it is not textured/raised. I will continue using these for small, whiteheads. Acne is normal, Emma

QUARANTINE LIFE SAVER🦋
On an average day my skin is very kind to me. It’s not sensitive and I very rarely have breakouts. I can get by doing the bare minimum and still be alright. UNTILL face masks became a thing due to Covid! When I went back to work, and wore the mask more frequently and for extended periods of time my skin was not happy. I could see and feel the acne forming on my chin and cheeks. And I was NOT happy about it!! These have been absolutely amazing. When I notice a breakout starting to form I use one of these. They do not leave me feeling dry and tight, but they DO bring everything to the surface within a couple hours, and everything is gone by the next morning . They are my go to right now, and at the rate we are going they may be for awhile!

Best cheap pimple patches!
Okay to be honest these are the only pimple patches I’ve tried, buuut hear me out. Seeing that these were the cheapest I had ever seen them sell for, I had to try them and let me tell you, they work great! PRICE $2 (at Walmart, but price may differ in different places) * on Amazon they cost a bit more, but the pack comes with more patches. * This pack specifically comes with 36 patches (which cost me $2, other packs come with 72 so those are more expensive but still pretty cheap) WHAT IS IT? they’re pimple patches, like tiny bandaids for your breakouts. non-medicated: meaning they do not involve any sort of medicine (as other patches do) hydrocolloid spot treatment: meaning it is a specific type of material that provides an insulating healing environment, where it protects the wound (in this case the pimple) from any bacteria coming in contact with it. They come in 2 sizes (small and large) to choose depending on the size of the breakout. WHAT DOES IT DO? (It says on the picture but I’ll explain again) protects from dirt and bacteria that can cause infection (it’s like a bandaid) Helps reduce any redness or inflammation caused by the breakout absorbs any impurities (it literally sucks all the bad stuff out of your pimple just by having it on) + added bonus it’s not super noticeable! (it’s slightly transparent, so it blends easily with the skin and sometimes you forget it’s even there) HOW I USE IT (and my experience) *i was skeptical about these because they’re non-medicated thinking it wouldn’t help my stubborn acne, but it did! just peel it off the plastic (I try to avoid touching the part that’s going on my skin), put on pimple, leave overnight, and remove in the morning. I apply a patch typically on a whitehead. (It works PERFECTLY for white heads, since it draws out the white head/all the gunk that’s inside) *the white head is GONE by the morning and the pimple is much smaller. Then I just let it finish healing on it’s own. If my pimple is extra stubborn I leave it on for longer or you can always apply another one like the instructions suggest to) For cyst-like acne that don’t form whiteheads, it is much harder for it to pull out impurities. (Given the breakout is underneath the skin, and not on the surface) It helps to decrease the size of the pimple if it is not a whitehead, but it is much more stubborn and doesn’t always work as quickly as it does for whiteheads. *i usually have to put in double work for these type of breakouts. So you can apply a different patch after you’ve worn one for too long (directions suggest after 6-8 hrs). It helps slightly to decrease the size more than anything but still pulls out impurities like excess oil. *disclaimer: from my experience, these don’t magically get rid of the pimple overnight (I feel like that’s unrealistic) but it does help a lot in speeding up the healing process and helps to get rid of the pimple in all. I recommend!
Best Acne Patches!
You probably have heard of acne patches, but I wanted to share my favorite brand: Le Gushe! What is it? - Le Gushe Acne Pimple Patch is a unique acne care solution of all skin types problems either inflammatory or non-inflammatory. This product is focused on protecting your skin, treating you acnes or pimples by absorbing pus and fluid for faster healing. - Covers your blemish to protect it against external influences. Absorbs pus and oil for faster healing. Works best when whiteheads of acnes and pimples are clearly visible. Does not work for blackheads. - Available in a pack of 72 for $11.73 on Amazon, two sizes in each pack. What’s in it? - Hydrocolloid: thought to work by drawing out sebum, absorbing excess oil, reducing inflammation, and significantly reducing the size of blemishes. How to use- 1. Identify the acne or pimple, clean and dry your skin. 2. Pick the patch that is bigger than the spot and stick the patch on the top of it. Please make sure that the patch covers all the spot. 3. Keep the patch stuck on the spot for 5 — 24 hours. The hydrocolloid normally works as a protective cover and absorbent for faster healing. 4. Remove the patch as soon as it changes its color to white and replace with another one if necessary. My review- - I absolutely love these acne patches! If I have scattered pustules or whiteheads, I use these acne patches! (For clusters I use the XL patches that I also have a post about) - I apply the patches at night and take them off in my morning. It’s so satisfying to see the pus/sebum going off with the patch! It definitely helps my acne heal faster. Plus they prevent me from picking at my skin. - I highly recommend trying them out! They are much more affordable than the popular Mighty patches.
