TOP 5 FAVORITE COMPLEXION PRODUCTS

sarah_novio
I’ve been organizing and decluttering my collection and it got me thinking what were the complexion products I’ve been picking up the most? 🤔 Here are my top picks: 1. Kosas Revealer Concealer (Tone 7) : this is the most comfortable concealer I have ever worn! As I get older, my under eyes are more sensitive and I need products that are going to keep them nourished 💖 2. Elf Hydrating Camo Concealer (Medium Beige) : instead of color correcting with an actual color correct, I like to use a warm concealer with balance out discoloration. This concealer does that while also keeping my skin hydrated ✨ 3. Undone Beauty Unfoundation Glow Tint (Almond Latte Medium) : this is the only skin tint I have that doesn’t add more oil than I already have, while also being lightweight 🙌🏽 such a beautiful product! 4. Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Foundation (320) : If I want to get dolled up (which I haven’t done in a while lol) I want to wear something that will look good on camera but not make me look cake-y... this is the foundation for it 😍 5. Kosas Tinted Face Oil (Tone 7) : this tinted moisturizer surprised me because I thought I was going to look like a shiny, oily egg. Surprisingly it does not! The oils sink into the skin so beautifully like a nighttime face oil and it’s beautiful!

sarah_novioThank you! 🥰 if you’re not super oily, the Kosas complexion products are so beautiful on the skin. For more oily skin types, I would go for with the Fenty foundation , thin out with moisturizer to sheer out 🙌🏽💕💕

graduation makeup 👄✨
my skin type: combo, acne prone, rosacea my skin concerns: hyperpigmentation + redness the look I was going for: simple, natural look with a tiny bit of glam. Graduations are HOT (indoors or outdoors, so I needed a look that could withstand the heat and sweat. The day is LONG: from a long ceremony to parties, eating, and drinking, so I needed a look that could withstand the whole day, keep me looking plump and hydrated, and cover my acne for all the photos. In order of use: + primer: laura mercier - Hydrating Foundation Primer + tinted moisturizer: FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 + concealer: e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer + blush & lips: BITE - Multistick in shade cashew + highlighter: WESTMAN ATELIER - Lit Up Highlight Stick Lit Up (Glassy Iridescent) + eyeliner: NYX - Vinyl Liquid Liner in black + mascara: ciaté - Wonderwand Intensely Volumising Mascara in black + powder: LAWLESS - Seal The Deal Loose Setting Powder + setting spray: Fourth Ray - Glisten Up Vitamin C Face Mist The BITE - Multistick is truly THE star of the show, as I tried to keep my other products neutral and simple. I absolutely love the formula of this multistick, it’s perfect for eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick/lip crayon. Doesn’t clump up on my eyes or lips, which are def problem spots for clumping if the product is too drying. A very hydrating formula actually, and it has incredible staying power; I look rosy and fresh all day. The only downside to this product is that I love it so much and it’s discontinued. So I feel bad for even raving about it! Bite has reformulated most of their products to be vegan, so I hope this makes a comeback ASAP.

New hair cut and new palette!
Went and got my hair cut and curled today. Feeling in a pretty mood so I decided to use my new #Laura Sanchez - MOODS Eyeshadow Palette[products]#[FiveStars] ! I am not wearing any lipstick and not very much blush because I will be wearing a mask today...sooo I skipped it. Plus I have hormonal skin at this time and makeup doesn’t help. But back to today’s simple eyes mainly look! I did use some e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer to hide my darkness. But that’s it. Today I embrace my spots!!! 🤗 I used billion dollar brows - Brow Powder and WANDER BEAUTY - Frame Your Face Precise Brow Gel The colors used on the #Laura Sanchez - MOODS Eyeshadow Palette[products]#[FiveStars] were as follows: Light tan as base color Dark Pink in crease and outer corner Shimmer Pink on inner corner and lid White highlighter under brows and cheeks I love this palette, these shadows are very nice. They are not as bold as they are in the palette but they are quite stunning. And they blend so well! The color is buildable so you can go as delicate or saturated as you like. The highlighters are so great!!! I love the white one it’s like holographic ! 😍 The little brush it comes with it pretty good at blending out the shadows even with not being a very dense brush. MAYBELLINE - Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner for wings. Araceli - Ojos Perfectos Gel Pencil Eyeliner in chocolate on lower water line. benefit - BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara which is my go to when not wearing falsies. MILANI - MILANI Baked Blush just a little, barely noticeable 😂! Since we are visiting the pumpkin patch today and half my face will be covered.... it was just all about the eyes!! Also during hormonal times I try to avoid foundation, contour, and blush because my skin likes to fight back!😳 I am not usually a punk eyeshadow person but I like this looks. It’s soft and shimmery. This is just the first time I have used this palette and I can’t wait to see what other “moods” I can create! 😜

NEW PRODUCT ALERT 🚨
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is a brand that I heard about only recently on Tik Tok. Living in South Africa, I’m not really exposed to these international brands and so these kind of products are almost never available here. But...rest assured I was on a mission to find a way to get the Fenty Beauty foundation to my door step...and eventually I did. Details and Observations: - I purchased the FENTY BEAUTY - Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation in the shade . - It’s 100% full coverage but doesn’t look heavy on the skin at all. - It’s perfect for an everyday foundation and looks so natural on my skin tone. - The texture is very smooth and light weight. - I like to really moisturize the foundation into my skin...almost the same as my actual moisturizer. - You don’t need to use a lot of product to cover your whole face. I’m definitely glad I went through all the trouble...it was worth it!🥰 Thanks Riri! Paula x

Must-Have Products from Sephora and Ulta 🌟
We all have some beauty products that become hard to go without once we’ve tried them! Some of my beauty staples include skincare products to prep my skin and a high-hold hairspray so my hairstyle lasts all day. Here are my favorite products from Sephora and Ulta! Milk MAKEUP - Hydro Grip Primer This is my go-to primer when I want my makeup to last all day long! It hydrates my skin without turning my face into an oil slick, and it has a slightly tacky feel that grips onto my foundation, just like it says. FENTY BEAUTY - Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation I prefer the hydrating formula of the Fenty Foundation over the original formula, which I thought was too matte for me, even with my oily/combo skin. This foundation blends out really nicely to a natural-looking satin finish, and I can easily layer setting powder over it without making my base look cakey or patchy. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This chemical exfoliant is a cult classic for a reason: It’s effective, looks cool, and costs less than $8! I love using it on Sunday nights as a weekly reset for my face. If you follow the instructions (leave on for 10 minutes and don’t use it more than twice a week), you’ll have baby soft skin without damaging your moisture barrier in no time. REDKEN - Triple Pure 32 Neutral Fragrance Hairspray It’s almost impossible for my hair to hold a curl without some kind of product. I love this hairspray because it sets my hair but doesn’t leave it feeling solid or crunchy. The mist is really fine so it disperses through my hair evenly without leaving some parts clumped with product and some parts untouched, which is one of my biggest pet peeves with hairspray. I highly recommend this to anyone who has trouble making their styled hair last more than an hour! TIGI - A Wave We Go Adjustable Deep Waver I love this hair waver because it’s incredibly easy to use. With this, I can wave my lob in literally 10 minutes! You can adjust the depth of the wave too, so you can have anything between a subtle beach wave or some really wild waves. What are your favorite products from Sephora and Ulta?

No Makeup Makeup in under 10 Minutes
These are my go-to products that I can quickly swipe on my face in under 10 minutes and feel put together. ULTRA VIOLETTE - Lean Screen SPF 50+ Mattifying Zinc This is UV newest sunscreen in their lineup. It is a mineral sunscreen which appears to be slightly tinted but ends up just looking like you have this wonderful blurring filter on the face. Perfect for my No makeup makeup days. Although I have dry skin, I don’t find this drying at all! I’ve taken a star off because I still do prefer glowy sunscreens but I think I’m going to love this in summer. CHANEL - BAUME ESSENTIEL Multi-Use Glow Stick After applying sunscreen, I apply this to the peaks of my face. Applying products on top of this gives me the most beautiful lit from within glow and I love this product because it’s just pure DEW with no sparkles or metallic finish Kosas - Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer A hydrating, a natural finish concealer which had yellow undertones that helps cancel out any redness around my eyes and blemishes. This is my ideal concealer, not too heavy or cakey but super brightening! A holy grail for sure. CHANEL - Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream Gives you the perfect “I just got back from vacation” effortless glow. I love this because it is just so easy to apply and blend out. I’ve taken off a star because it’s not inclusive, I wish they would expand the shade range! ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Micro-Stroking Detailing Brow Pen The newest brow pen in my collection. It’s very pigmented and allows you to draw natural looking hair like strokes. I’ve only rated it three stars because I find due to how pigmented it is, it can be a struggle to get thin strokes and the brush could be thinner as well. Glossier. - Boy Brow A classic for a reason! The perfect product for fluffy, natural brows. This is my holy grail! I have very coarse brows and this holds them in place like no other. I use the shade “clear” ILIA - Limitless Lash Mascara the peeerfect mascara for a busy day because it never smudges or transfers so I don’t have to worry about checking for panda eyes. In addition it gives me the most beautiful fluttery lashes, a new holy grail for sure! Kosas - Wet Lip Oil Gloss A holy grail lip product because it feels like a balm but gives me the “my lips but better” look. It’s the perfect gloss because it is so easy to reach for and apply without even needing a mirror. I’m using shade “Dip” #CheriePartner

A full face in just 10 minutes!
Happy Friday, cherie fam! I don’t know about you, but my friday makeup tends to be especially quick and easy. Anyone who has a zoom call with me on fridays can deal with it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) I wanted to share the makeup I put on this morning in just under ten minutes! The finished look is casual, put together, and glowy, and my real skin is still visible under the light makeup. Basic info about my skin: I’m oily and acne prone, and my main concerns right now are dark circles and hyperpigmentation from acne. I also have sparse brows and I like to fill them in—if I do nothing else, I’ll do my brows because I feel naked without them 😂 Here’s a step by step, including all the products I used: First, I apply a few drops of the Kosas - Tinted Face Oil Foundation all over my face, blending it into my hairline and neckline. I’ve reviewed this before, so I won’t go into detail here, but I love it! I just spread it and pat it in with my fingers—no beauty blender/brush needed. Next, I use the Kosas - Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes. Scroll back a few posts for my thoughts on this concealer and why it’s worth repurchasing! Third, I apply the cream blush from the Kosas - Color & Light: Cream Blush & Highlighter Duo on the apples of my cheeks. I usually use a brush, but I can use my fingers in a pinch. I have the color Helios and it’s such a beautiful deep orange shade. The formula itself is very creamy and nourishing—it really feels like skincare AND makeup. I set everything with a light dusting of the Milk MAKEUP - Blur + Set Matte Loose Setting Powder . I love this powder, and it’s lasting me FOREVER even with daily use, but I desperately want them to improve the packaging 😩 The mesh makes it difficult to get the product out at times. I do my brows with a few quick swipes of the Milk MAKEUP - KUSH Fiber Brow Gel , my holy grail brow gel. This is the only product on my brows and LOOK how it fills them in! I do a quick coat of the bareMinerals - Lashtopia Mega Volume Mineral-Based Mascara to add length and volume to my lashes. This mascara last alllll day without flaking at all on me. Last, I swipe on some nooni - Appleberry Lip Oil , and I’m done! I LOVE this tinted oil—it feels very hydrating without being sticky, and it’s an incredible bargain compared to other tinted lip oils out there (I got it for $12 on amazon). It has a pink tint and a subtle berry flavor. And that’s it! All of these products are so simple to use, making them perfect for a quick and easy makeup look. #CheriePartner

Which skin tint is worth it?
Preface: I love skin tints. I much prefer having my natural skin tone, spots, and freckles/moles visible through a dewy foundation rather than having a full coverage matte look which accentuates my skin texture and dryness. These are both formulas I have tried and loved for different reasons but which one is more worth it? Products: UNDONE BEAUTY - Unfoundation Glow Tint Milk MAKEUP - Sunshine Skin Tint SPF 30 Price points: Undone: $14 for 1.19oz Milk: $42 for .7oz Applicator: Undone: they have since updated their packaging to a squeeze tube, but I also like this dropper applicator shown in photo 2. It’s hygienic and very easy to control how much you use. Milk: this is kind of strange, but I like that it has an airless pump at the end of the tube. The part I don’t like it the rollerball applicator at the dispensing end of the tube. Like stick foundations, this allows for bacteria (including acne-causing bacteria) to hang out on that applicator if applied directly to the face. This is annoying because every time I use it I have to apply it to the back of my hand and THEN dot it on my face with my fingers for a hygienic application. Scent: Undone: no powerful scent, maybe if anything a subtle clay scent. Milk: this formula is SPF 30 so it just smells like sunscreen. Texture: Undone: this is a super-lightweight thin liquid formula that can be applied directly with your fingers for the lightest coverage or a brush/sponge for slightly more coverage. It offers a SUPER dewy finish that can be set with powder to lessen your glow if preferred. Milk: this offers slightly more coverage and you only need the tiniest bit to cover your entire face. It is thicker than the undone formula and can also be applied with fingers or brush/sponge to customize your preferred coverage. I prefer to apply both of these as dots on my face first and then buffed out with a foundation brush meant for stippling. I also prefer to wear these formulas in the summer time when I am less pale. Overall experience & thoughts: The undone beauty tint is much more accessible being in Target stores and it’s more affordable but doesn’t offer a whole lot of coverage compared to the milk tint. However, each formula is buildable without any cake face. The milk Makeup formula does include SPF so that can be seen as a win but you can also easily apply the undone beauty tint over your daily SPF without issues. My personal preference is to wear the undone tint when I’ll be spending more time indoors and the milk tint when I’ll be spending more time outdoors. They are tints so YES I know neither of them completely matches my skin tone and that is the point, it’s a tint. I would say for the amount of product you get and accessibility for each price point, the Undone Beauty tint is more worth it. ALSO: my skin type is sensitive and dry & my skin tone is fair.

“Natural”/“Clean Beauty” Faves
“Natural”/“Clean Beauty” Faves
I’ve been slowly trying to incorporate products made from ingredients that are good for the skin and are derived from more organic, sustainable, and ethical means in general. These brands I’m featuring are all cruelty-free and vegan. I have more products from these brands in my collection. I just chose a few to feature and use in a makeup look (swipe through for photos!). ILIA - Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 This skin tint contains niacinamide, squalane, & hyaluronic acid, as well as zinc oxide 12% to provide some SPF. It should be noted you still need to apply SPF as part of your skincare routine to ensure adequate protection! I have shade “ST3 Balos”. It’s a pretty good match for me, considering it sheets out quite a bit. It provides a very dewy finish, so I often apply a bit of powder. It feels so good on my dry skin. It’s coverage is very light, allowing skin to shine through. I’m not currently supporting Ilia due to their lack of inclusivity; however, this is a very good product and worth the hype. $46 CLOVE+HALLOW - Conceal + Correct This has light-medium, lightweight coverage. Personally I prefer more coverage, but this is a nice concealer for lighter coverage days. It’s not the best shade for me (“02”), but C+H is working to expand the range more. C+H products are made with 15 ingredients or less, and are ethically sourced! $21 (PR from brand - I’m an affiliate). CLOVE+HALLOW - Hydratint Blush Serum This blush is beautiful! Made me fall in love with the brand before becoming an affiliate. It has a dewy finish, so perfect for dry skin. Easy to blend with fingers, sponge, or brush. Mine is the shade “velvet” and I’m eying “blossom”! $19 SERAPHINE botanicals - Palmetto + Pillow Hydrating Matte Lip Stain This formula is comfortable and leaves behind a slight stain. This one is “nude cream”, and I have 2 other shades. The formula is mousse-y and lasts several hours. Contains sunflower, palmetto, & sea palm (just to name a few good ingredients!). $18 (gifted to me by brand). cocokind - Mai-light Rosé highlighter The giant chapstick packaging is perfect for on-the-go. Contains jojoba, mango butter, & maitake to provide sheer, buildable color. I built it up in my swatch. It’s a beautiful rose gold that would work for a variety of skin tones. Cocokind has 2 other colors. $12 (PR from brand). Nourish - Safflower Shimmer This is available through the Nourish Beauty Box website. This shimmery gloss is in the shade “vision”. It’s perfect on its own or over another lip color. The sparkles hit the light just right and never feel gritty. It contains safflower and feels ultra moisturizing. I’ve used it a lot but it’s hard to tell though the packaging. I’d love to get other colors! $16 (came in a gifted sub box w/o obligation). What are some of your “natural”/“clean” faves? #CheriePartner

Loved concealers ✨✨
Loved concealers ✨✨
I don’t use concealers all the time but when I do I use one of my 4 trusty concealers. I have 2 affordable and 2 pricey ones. Glossier stretch concealer in the shade G11: when I want a lightweight concealer I always pick this one. It’s a light to light medium coverage. It’s great for a no makeup makeup look. It blends easily and I use my fingers. It’s pretty hydrating as well so if you have oily under eyes and want to try this then you’d need to set it with powder. This is $18 on glossiers website. Glossier. - Stretch Concealer Wet n wild photo focus concealer in the shade light ivory: this is about medium coverage. It stays put all day and it’s pretty creamy. I find it’s best to use this with a sponge instead of my fingers. I’ve always found that this is a great dupe for the nars creamy concealer. This varies in price from $3.50-$5.00 it’s still very affordable. wet n wild - Photo Focus Concealer NARS Radiant creamy concealer in the shade vanilla: this is a really great product. Medium coverage and best with a sponge for me. It conceals great without looking like I’ve applied too much. It hides my dark circles and veiny areas on my face. Great product that I’d recommend. Really pricy $30. NARS - Radiant Creamy Concealer Elf 16 hr camo concealer in the shade fair rose: now this is a full coverage concealer. I only need a tiny amount of this. I only use this for special events or if I want slightly more coverage. It blends really nicely. It’s full coverage without it being super thick and I love that. Definitely great that it’s on the affordable side. $6 e.l.f. - 16HR Camo Concealer

Myth Busted: Do You Need a Primer
Myth Busted: Do You Need a Primer
This week on myth busting we’re looking at a popular question I received from 3 different people this week alone. Do you need a primer? and What do they even do? Well first, a makeup primer is a base for foundation or base skin makeup, that allows the makeup on top to go on smoother and stay on longer. The formulas range from cream, to gel, to powders, but they all work pretty much in the same way. Most people skip a primer because they believe that a moisturizer does the same thing however, this is false. Primers, give makeup something to hold onto, where as a moisturizers only goal is to moisruze your skin. An oil moisturizer will sometimes even repel makeup, or make it harder to put on. May makeup primers are formulated with silicone based polymers, like dimethicone because of their temporary ultra-smoothing effects. However always do a patch test on you armpit or legpit first, because some people report getting allergic reactions to the compounds. Physicians Formula’s makeup artist Joanna Schlip also notes that primer can help temporarily cover or hide fine lines, wrinkles, or large pores. They can also help color correct skin concerns. For example a orange primer will help cancel out blue under eye circles, or a green primer for redness. Primers main job is to re texture your skin, or color correct it. If your skin doesn’t need either of those things, you don’t really need a primer. However getting an oil free moisturizer may help. Down below I’ll list a couple great primers, but you don’t need to have them. Please leave your beauty question or myth in a comment below or feel free to dm me @_sips_tea_ on Instagram for a good chance that I will answer your question AND shout out any of your social media platforms. I love this stuff! I’m such a huge fan of their face oil that I knew I needed to grab their concealer! I was not disappointed! It’s so creamy, blendable, and leaves such a radiant finish under the eyes! It pairs so well with their tint in face oil! It’s definitely going to be my new go to!

The Perfect “No-Makeup” Makeup Product
The Perfect “No-Makeup” Makeup Product
I’m not really one for foundation. I usually use a very light foundation if I do wear some — i.e. The Ordinary’s serum foundation. I’m unfortunately a “face toucher” so I can’t be bothered with face make up very often. I usually slap on concealer and bronzer in terms of face make up. With that being said, I’ve been loving the Graydon products I currently have and when I saw that they had a tinted moisturizer primer I had to try it. I read so many good reviews! GRAYDON - Face Glow For 40 mL this cost $24 CAD. I find I only use a tiny bit so the 40 mLs will last me a while. 🍁(PS it’s on sale. Regularly priced at $46 CAD)🍁 After my skincare I’ll pop this onto my face like I would any normal moisturizer. I use such a small amount and find it blends in beautifully. You can use a sponge or a brush but I’m lazy so I just use my fingers lol. This is perfect for a “no makeup” makeup look. The tint is gorgeous and gives me a healthy glow/complexion. Your skin looks radiant without looking like you’re wearing anything! I think it could work on most skin tones if you also wanted to just apply it as a highlight to your cheek bones or brow bones, or even under makeup as an actual primer. My concealer sits nicely over top of this and doesn’t cake or crease :) And with my bronzer I get a nice sun-kissed glow. I haven’t noticed any break outs, which is always good! 👌🏻 Haha! Why It’s Amazing: + It firms skin and improves elasticity with semi-precious smithsonite +Your skin glows with mineral-rich sustainably sourced mica +It brightens your complexion with ellagic acid rich raspberry seed oil +It minimizes the appearance of dark circles and spots with nutrient rich spirulina +It soothes your skin with aloe vera juice and zinc-rich pumpkin seed oil +It renews your look with skin nurturing sea buckthorn seed oil +It shields your face against the elements with non-nano zinc +It protects your skin from environmental stressors with rich buriti oil 100% recommend ❤️

A $7 Concealer Worth Trying
A $7 Concealer Worth Trying
Yesterday I was rushing out the door for work and realized on my drive that I remembered everything except to put on my usual mascara and concealer. I decided to stop and grab any old concealer because that’s the one makeup product I can’t leave the house without (well, can leave the house without but don’t want to lol). I can do without mascara for a 12 hour night shift at the hospital though. I stopped at Walmart and decided to try the e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer because the price was right and the shade seemed relatively close to my favourite Too Faced Born This Way concealer. My Thoughts: + Concealer is light-weight. It claims to be full-coverage but I found it more sheer than other full-coverage concealers I’ve tried + It comes in a lot of shades which is great (28 I think!). I don’t think I picked up my exact shade but it was close enough when I was in a pinch. I grabbed the light beige. + It’s a satin-finish which I liked + It blends nicely at first. I did notice a tiny bit of creasing after a few hours of wear, but nothing anyone would notice unless you were looking for it haha + It’s hydrating! There’s nothing worse than a concealer that dries out your under eye area + The price is right. $7 CAD and you get a decent amount of product + I think this concealer oxidizes so be mindful of that I would definitely repurchase this product, although it wouldn’t be my number 1 concealer. I need to find my correct shade haha :)
